That Fateful Day, It started.
A/N: Soooo, This fic will be about Hayato, Hachiman and Yukino meeting for the first time and going through elementary and middle school together. It MAY be HachiYuki but I don't necessarily want to make it like that just yet.
Their age in this chapter is 6 years old, all 3 of them.
Context: The Yukinoshita and Hikigaya families are good friends, having known each other in the past and helping them out in certain things, just like the Hayama family. But this fic isn't gonna be focused on them and what they help out the Yukinoshita family in, so I won't speak about it a lot.
I have nothing much else to say. This chapter is in Yukino's POV.
Edit: It's been a week since I started writing this, I apologize for how long this took. Life hit me like a fucking truck in the form of me going to the hospital and now I'm thinking I might get reincarnated.
Hope you all enjoy.
Chapter 1 Begin!
Chapter 1 – The Gathering.
My mother had said today I would be meeting new people and making new friends.
I was very excited, but I also didn't know how to communicate with people.
I stressed over small details of my dress, hair and everything just to make a good first impression, before finding out all of this is sort of pointless if I can't even talk to the people I want to make friends with.
Naturally, I started growing a bit annoyed at my lack of social skills in the car on the way to the location.
The location was a hotel that had a garden, a lobby that was very expansive (according to my mother.) that looked like a place that you would go to for high class celebrations.
We arrived in exactly 16 minutes and 32 seconds. I was so anxious about meeting new people that I kept track of the time to the second just to get my mind off of the eventual meeting.
We exit the car and enter the hotel, there's some people in the middle of the lobby, there's food on the left along with dessert and other things on the right.
And then there's more people pretty much spread everywhere.
The 4 of us walk towards the other people in the middle. I hide behind my father's leg, concerned about how these people might think of me.
The other families call out to us and my mother and father exchange pleasantries and talk about things.
My eyes leave the towering people and look down to the two boys more my size.
There's one boy whose hair is blonde with blue eyes, slightly darker than mine, with a well-structured face along with seemingly expensive clothes, truly a rich boy's embodiment. But I don't know who he really is…
The other boy however, piqued my interest.
He had disheveled hair and a strand of hair sticking out, similar to mine, which is called an ahoge, I recall from my mother teaching me about it.
His clothes were, nothing out of the ordinary for normal people. All he had was a light blue jacket with the shirt underneath just being white, spelling out "World's Okayest Brother" in black. I giggle lightly, hoping no one heard it. His jeans were colored black and he had dark blue colored sneakers.
All in all, he didn't seem like the type of person to be in an event like this. And that's what got me curious.
After my parents kept talking, Father told me that they would leave us three alone and walked off.
Now it was us 3, just standing around in awkward silence.
Naturally, and as I expected, the blonde haired boy started the conversation.
"Hello! I am Hayama Hayato! Who are you?" Hayama Hayato, introduces himself.
"I am Yukinoshita Yukino, may I ask who you are?" I introduce myself, and ask.
I look to the third boy, and I see a detail that I could not have seen before.
His eyes, they had life to them, but again, looked out of place in the lobby. I could have mistaken them for a fish if the life to them weren't there.
"Uhm… I'm Hikigaya Hachiman. Nice to meet you, I guess." The boy "Hikigaya Hachiman" introduces himself curtly.
Once again, the awkward silence returns to the conversation, the three of us not knowing what to say.
"Um… Do you… want to go to a different place?" Hayama-kun asks, just to try and revive the conversation.
"Okay." I, not one for drawing out sentences, reply and the three of us walk over to the corner of the lobby, where there is a sofa surrounding a round table, Hayama-kun offers to take our food, we tell him what we want and he leaves.
Now it's just me, and the awfully out of place boy.
"You think I shouldn't be here, right?" Hikigaya-kun asks, already expecting it.
"I assume this isn't the first time you have been asked something like that before?" I reply, my mind being torn between, OH MY GOD HE READ MY MIND!? and he MUST have dealt with this before.
"This is the first time, I assure you. I just knew because it was so clearly written on your face." Hikigaya-kun confirms how he knew, and it wasn't even neither of the options I had in my head.
I regain my composure, and question him once again.
"Then, why ARE you here?" I ask the obvious, because it's lost on me as to why he's here.
"My family is friends with your family, apparently they owe us something for some reason. That's why they got to know us. I don't know the whole situation, and I've never really bothered to ask." He answers, with an unsatisfactory answer, but I will back down for now.
"Are you trying to get something out of us? Some kind of favor?" I ask him, trying to see if I could dig out the reason. I could not trust this person yet.
"I don't give a damn about you, or your family. In fact, you should be friends with that other boy who went to grab our food. Seems like a nice guy." He replies, vehemently against the idea.
It seems his motives are pure, he's here just because he has to be.
Then I have no issues. I might as well talk to him. It seems I might have to talk to him every time he comes to one of these.
But what do I talk to him about? What do I even talk about with him?
I get snapped out of my thoughts as he secretly pulls out a book, with a cat cover on it.
I got it.
I shuffle closer to him, just to get to read the book. It seems it's a story about cats, short stories, all compiled into one large book. There were even some short stories that I didn't even know about.
"You like cats? That would explain why you came over to me." Hikigaya-kun says, not taking his eyes off the book.
"Even If I have to approach you, just to read some cats stories, I will do it." I try to insult, seeing if that would get some reaction from him.
Needless to say, it failed.
But I'm not sure if that was because of his non reaction or my fail at trying to insult him.
"I like cats. I have a cat at home. But it's lazy and doesn't like me, so I just settle with cat stories instead." Hikigaya-kun suddenly speaks up.
"Cats are the best domestic animal! Everything about them screams cute!" I reply, throwing all distrust to the wind, as we both talk about cats passionately.
"Can I come to your house sometime? I would love to see your cat!" I ask, unknowing about what I just said.
He pauses, his eyes widened. I stare confusingly at him, before my words start to sink in about what I just said.
"Uh! Uhm… If you're uncomf-." I try to cover it up and apologize about it.
But he cuts me off.
"Sure." He has a slight smile adorned on his face, instantly enhancing his features, though I didn't bother.
I was happy I could see a cat.
"Thank you!" I reply enthusiastically.
A few minutes passed, us still talking about cats, when Hayama-kun brings us our food.
"Yukinoshita-san, Hikigaya-san, I brought us our food." Hayama-kun with our plates, approaches us, holding them in a weird way. Of course, it must be difficult holding 3 plates of food.
"Ah, thank you. Itadakimasu." I say and start eating, the foods are light, and have a nice taste to them.
After we finish eating the food, Hayama-kun starts talking to me.
Hikigaya-kun in the background, just looks on at our conversation with an unreadable expression, and goes back to reading his cat book.
Time passes, and it's time to leave. Hayama-kun talked to me about quite a few things, but never seemed to brag about anything.
But I had to remind Hikigaya-kun about the upcoming visit to his home and cat.
But in order to secure that…
"Hikigaya-kun!" I call out for him.
He turns back, somewhat startled at someone calling for him.
"Don't forget about my eventual visit to your house okay friend?" I tell him, and walk away, without looking back, leaving no room for him to argue, he's obviously flabbergasted at me calling him my friend. But what can I say? I'd like a friend.
I get in the car and on the way back home, Nee-san seems to see my smile, and starts teasing me.
"What happened Yukino-chan? Did you perhaps make a boy friend?" She says, obviously trying to get me blush. I know what she implied after all. Just not in the way she made it seem.
And I hate to say that It worked somehow.
I get rid of the blush, knowing that Nee-san won.
"Yes, I made 2 friends today." I say and start to space out.
I can't wait to see the cat…
A/N: Originally, this was supposed to be 5000 words. But I knew this would take so much longer if I tried.
I would just be too lazy to finish a chapter of 5k words. So I decreased that a bit and just went for something else instead.
I have no idea how Hayama would talk to Yukinoshita which is why I HAD to skip over their conversation as my conversation skills are okay at best but uh first meetings suck. So I would not be able to think of a conversation from a first meeting perspective. This is also evident in the fact that I had to use cats as a basis for 8man and Yukino to even HAVE a conversation.
I have some ideas for this fic, but because I will be writing some elementary and middle school events, This fic will take longer to update.
I'm thankful that I at least got it out today, because if I didn't I probably never would.
Criticize this as you please, I will be grateful!
Please review and have a nice day.
Isuckatnaming, leaving to just play games. Nothing else. Oh yeah and maybe sleep after 5 hours.
