New story! This time, I decided to make a Sonic the Hedgehog version of 'Mean Girls', one of my very favorite movies! I wanted to do this for over a year, and I feel confidently ready. I hope you enjoy this first chapter!

3rd Person perspective

"This is your lunch, okay?" says a male red hedgehog, holding a magenta lunch bag. "Now, I put a dollar in there so you can buy a snack. You can ask one of the big kids where to do that."

"You remember your phone number?" a female white hedgehog asks. "I wrote it down for you, just in case."

She hands over a small piece of paper. "Put it in your pocket," she says. "I don't want you to lose it."

"Okay," the red hedgehog says. "You ready?"

"I think so," a teenage female pink hedgehog, their daughter, answers unsurely.

The white hedgehog's jade green eyes tear up. "It's Amy's big day."

Amy's perspective

I guess it's natural for parents to cry on their kid's first day of school. But this usually happens when the kid is five. I'm 16, and until today, I was homeschooled. I know what you're thinking: homeschooled kids are freaks! - or that we're weirdly religious or something. Don't worry, though; my family's totally normal. Except for the fact that both my parents are research zoologists, and we spent the last 12 years traveling through Africa. I had a great life! But then, my mom got offered a job at Emerald County University. So it was goodbye Africa, and hello high school.

I hold onto my gray backpack, about to cross the street to Emerald High School. I take a deep breath and wave goodbye to my parents standing behind me. I begin to cross the street, but I immediately step back as a yellow school bus zips right by!

I turn around, seeing my parents scared out of their minds. I tell them I'm fine, wave goodbye again, and successfully cross the street.

I eventually make my way to homeroom. I look around the classroom, finding someone I can introduce myself to. I see another pink hedgehog standing in front of the room. She has sky blue eyes, a really long ponytail, and is a little overweight. She seems nice enough. I walk up to her and introduce myself with mild confidence, "Hi. I don't know if anyone told you about me, but I'm a new student here. My name is Amy Rose."

Just as I reach my hand out for a handshake, the hedgehog threatens me, "Talk to me again, and I'll kick your ass."

Harsh! The girl sits down in a desk of the front of the classroom. I go up to the desk on her left, but a lavender cat wearing a high ponytail and dark clothing sitting behind that desk warns me, "You don't wanna sit there. Patricia Becker's boyfriend is gonna sit there."

A yellow twin-tailed fox barges over and sits in the seat I wanted to sit in, and begins making out with Patricia. I sigh and go to the empty seat next to the lavender cat, only for her to shake her head. "He farts a lot," she says, pointing to the light yellow polar bear, who has a discomforted expression on his face.

You're kidding! I walk away from that area, only to bump into a brown chipmunk, making her spill her coffee onto her clothes.

"Oh God," I cry. "I'm so sorry!"

"It's not you," the chipmunk says, feeling defeated. "I'm bad luck."

She sets her items on her desk and begins pulling her sweater off, only for it, along with her shirt and tank top to get stuck on her head, exposing her bra. In class. In front of hormonal teenagers. A light green crocodile walks into the room and sees the awkward situation.

"Ms. Parker?" he asks the chipmunk with concern.

"My t-shirt's stuck to my sweater, isn't it?" Ms. Parker asks, guessing what just happened. The crocodile nods yes, and I help her pull down her shirt and tank top. She finishes taking her sweater off and puts it on her chair. I end up taking the desk next to a large purple cat, who's sitting behind the lavender cat.

"Is everything alright in here?" the crocodile asks.

Ms. Parker nods, feeling unsure. "Could be worse, I suppose."

"So..." the crocodile begins. "How was your summer?"

"I got divorced," my teacher bluntly answers.

"My voice got a lot gravelier," he responds.

"I win," Ms. Parker says with sarcasm.

The crocodile smiles hesitantly. "Yes, you do." He turns to the class and announces, "I just wanted to let everyone know that we have a new student joining us. She just moved here all the way from Africa."

Ms. Parker turns to a yellow leapord with a small black afro and a brown muzzle. "Welcome!" she greets to her.

"I'm from Michigan," the leapord reminds her, confused on what just happened.

Ms. Parker covers her mouth in shame. "Sorry," she quickly says.

"Her name is 'Amy'," the crocodile tells Ms. Parker. "Amy Rose."

"Where are you, Amy?" Ms. Parker asks, looking over all her students.

"Right here!" I say, raising my hand.

They look over to me, and the crocodile introduces himself. "Welcome to Emerald High, Amy. My name's 'Mr. Green', the school principal."

"It's nice to meet you," I reply to Mr. Green.

"Likewise," he says, then turns to Ms. Parker. "And, if you need anything...wanna talk to somebody..."

"Thanks," Ms. Parker responds. "Maybe some other time, when my shirt isn't see-through."

Right...we can still see her bra... Ms. Parker and Mr. Green say goodbye to each other, and the ladder heads out the door.

The first day of school was a blur. A stressful, surreal blur. I got in trouble for the most random things. One teacher wouldn't let me go to the bathroom, another one yelled at me for reading ahead, I'm not allowed to use green pens, I can't eat during class. Even in Spanish, I was told to stay in my assigned seat. I never lived in a world where adults didn't trust me, where they would always yell at me.

I'm only halfway through the day, and it's now lunchtime. I take my lunch with me and walk around the cafeteria, finding a table to sit in. This place is crowded, tables filled with various groups of students. One table that catches my eye is a group filled with brown-muzzled people, or those styled with afros or dreadlocks. I had a lot of friends in Africa, especially in Kenya, the last place my family lived in before moving here.

"Jambo!" I greet to them in Swahili. They all gave me weird looks; either they're confused or think something is wrong with me. I walk away from them in embarrassment and into the girls' restroom. I lock myself in one of the stalls and begin eating my lunch.

I feel like such a loser! Who knew how hard it was to be the new kid?

A few hours later, school finally ends for the day, and I arrive home. My parents are sitting in the front patio, and Mom says to me, "Hey. How was your first day?"

I neglect myself to answer her, and I hastily barge inside. My first day sucked!

Hello! I hope you all enjoyed this first chapter! And if you're wondering, Mr. Green is Vector, and Ms. Parker is me. Yes, I inserted myself into this story! Next chapter, Amy will meet some of the more interesting characters. If you like what you're reading, please leave a review and follow if you want to be updated! And feel free to guess who's playing who! I'm curious to read your responses.
