This fanfic was mainly inspired by Hazbin Hero from Mrotrax and One Helluva Upbringing from TheCrazedFanFictioner (check out their works, they are really good writers and deserve more attention than they get!) I tried to write it as best as I could as a beginner writer. Plus English is not my mother tongue, so in some places, the grammar and the writing can be crappy, but I tried my best not to be like that. If you have any criticism or suggestion about my writing and how should I write it down and express things, feel free to leave a comment under the fanfic. I would appreciate it. Now, with that out of the way, let's jump into it, shall we?
Afterlife.
The topic which all of us have a different point of view and brought up one way or another.
Some believe that based on our actions, we will get into Heaven or fall into the burning pits of Hell, while others think there isn't Heaven or Hell, we just reincarnate over and over in an endless cycle, there are those who think the afterlife doesn't exist and so on. The truth is, none of us know the answer. But for ordinary people, this didn't matter, and didn't have a single thought about it in their everyday lives. A certain loving married couple believed the same on that very day.
Despite the late hour of the day, the Musutafu Local Hospital was teeming but calm at the same time. The nurses were booking appointments for future patients, helping the job of doctors during surgeries, and bringing food for patients fastly, as if it was a marathon in the Olympic Games. The doctors called the few waiting people who had to come to that time in, examined them, then after the patient left the room, called the next one in, and this went on over and over again, repeating the cycle, while the rest of people were waiting for their turn in the waiting rooms.
Inko Midoriya and her husband, Hisashi Midoriya, were among those people. They were sitting on white, not-so-comfortable chairs in front of the door of the room of the gynecological doctor at the women's medical department part of the building, waiting patiently for the previous patient to finally come out from the doctor's office and let them go inside.
Inko had a slim body, as was expected from a model such as herself, with green hair in a small and spiky ponytail and large, circular green eyes. She was wearing her casual clothes, which consisted of a pink shirt, a blue skirt, and white shoes on her legs. Her husband, Hisashi, had a slim body as well, but he was much skinnier and less muscular than his wife and possessed small yet noticeable bags under his eyes and sparse black hair. He was wearing a light red jacket with a yellow shirt under it, blue jeans on his legs, and black shoes on his feet.
Inko had been searching for something in her blue bag desperately, gaining the attention of her husband.
"What are looking for in your bag, honey?" Hisashi asked curiously.
"My phone." she answered, "I've been searching for it for like 5 minutes and I still can't find it! And I need it because Mitsuki could call me any time and if I don't pick it up, she's going to get nervous and my photographer is going to phone me about the next photoshoot at 1800hrs and I don't want to miss any details from it, because it gives us more money and...! Inko enumerated nervously and frustrated, as she continued to look for her phone inside her bag. She would have continued her say if Hisashi hadn't shut her up by placing his thin left index finger on her mouth. This caused Inko to look at her husband, who was smiling at her.
"Please, give me the bag." he requested kindly, offering his right hand. Without any question, she placed the bag into his hand while she was shaking her right leg up and down. After less than 15 seconds, he found the pink-colored cell phone and lent his right hand out once again, offering the communication device to his wife, "Here you go, honey." Hisashi said, as he gently placed the phone into Inko's hands.
"Thank you, Hisashi." Inko thanked, still shaking his right leg in her nervousness.
Hisashi couldn't bear to see his beautiful wife this stressed, so to know the source of it, he asked her worriedly, "What's wrong, honey?".
Inko took a deep breath and sighed, to calm herself down, "Sorry, honey" she apologized, "I'm just.. worried. About all of this. You, your disease, the rent, and now this. And I still don't know what's the real reason why they called us in. I just wish everything could go back to how it was." Inko explained.
Three things. Those were the three things that made Inko Midoriya anxious for the most part recently. Since Hisashi was diagnosed with small intestine cancer, they had been standing on the edge paying of their rent, due to them spending most of their money on Hisashi to improve his health as much as they could, maybe even curing him, if there was a chance. Hearing the news, Mitsuki and Masaru wanted to support them straightway by giving them some of their money, but surprisingly, Hisashi turned them down, saying that he doesn't want to spend their hard-earned money on himself and more importantly, because of the fact that Mitsuke was bearing Masaru's child inside her, who they will name as Bakugo Katsuki.
Lastly, the most recent problem of hers and the reason why there were in the hospital in the first place. Before Hisashi got cancer, he and Inko had been trying to have a child for 7 months now, but none of those actions ended with Inko getting pregnant. Naturally, this made Inko's worries much greater and so, to find the reason why she couldn't become pregnant, she went to the doctor and examined herself. One week later, they were informed by the doctor the result had arrived, but they didn't say much on the phone, just that both of them has to come there. Of course, this not-so-informative phone call made Inko's nervousness even worse but nonetheless, they went to the hospital, where the doctor's office was.
Hisashi lifted one hand which was closer to his wife's left leg and placed his hand on it in a comforting manner.
"Inko." he said, "Look at me."
Inko did as what she was told to and looked at her green-eyed husband, who curved a genuine smile on his face.
"I don't care if there's any problem with you or your body at all and I'm sure there isn't any, but if there is, it doesn't matter. The only thing matters is we are here for each I know together we can get through anything that life throws in front of us. So please, do me a favor and stop worrying. It's not good for health to be nervous all the time. After all..." Hisashi placed his other hand fondly on her the surface of Inko's cheek, "It doesn't suit your beautiful face." he remarked.
Inko touched her husband's hand on her face and appreciated his kind gesture. As she closed her eyes, she could feel her heartbeat slow and the shake of her leg became slower as well, until it stopped completely. Sometimes, she wondered how she could deserve such a good man as him as her husband.
"How can you stay always so calm?" Inko wondered calmly.
"I don't know, maybe I have a secret second Quirk I don't know of!" Hisashi joked.
Inko giggled at her husband's joke. Inko couldn't tell in words how much she appreciated that it didn't matter what was or how bad was the situation, Hisashi never threw that humorous, loveable personality of his away. Even after he was diagnosed with cancer 4 months ago, he still stayed his old funny, and positive himself.
Unfortunately, their lovely momentum was cut short when the doors of the doctor's office opened and a brown-haired woman in casual clothes, looking relieved, stepped out of it and left the room. Shortly after, a man in a white coat, a white shirt under it, a blue, white-spotted tie on his neck, black jeans, and black shoes on his legs stopped at the entrance of the room, with a clip-on hard binder in his right hand.
"Next, the Midoriya's." he read out casually.
"That would be us." Inko pointed out, as both of them got out of their seats.
"Wonderful! Please, come in and then we can discuss the results in much more detail." the doctor said cheerfully but with a little bit of nervosity in his voice, which he tried to hide and not to become noticed by the couple.
Unknowingly to him, Inko did catch that nervousness in him and immediately started panicking but she tried to sweep it under the rug, far away from her husband's eyes. Both she and he headed towards the entrance of the room when suddenly, Hisashi grabbed his stomach with both of his hands in immense pain. It lasted only for a few seconds but affected him long enough to get the attention of his wife, who immediately started to panic.
"Hisashi!" Inko exclaimed solicitously, "Are you alright?!"
"You don't need to worry about me." he assured, "It didn't last for long. I'm fine already!"
"Are you sure? If you don't feel well, just sit down and wait here, okay?" she advised anxiously, since she knew this sudden stomach ache was because of his cancer.
"No no, I'm okay, really." Hisashi ensured, "Now, come honey, we don't want the doctor to wait for us!" he noted.
Despite the growing disquiet and worry about the declining salubrity of Hisashi inside her, Inko had to agree with her husband's statement. So she swallowed up her fidgetiness, grabbed his hand, and both of them made their way inside the locality that the doctor held possession of.
The room was quite ordinary in design. The walls were covered in white color and had two windows on them. A blue, comfortable-looking medical bed was set at the right side of the room, parallel to the wall where the entrance door was. There was also a medium-sized, brown-colored table cabinet next to the bed, with a computer and a basin on it, and a midsized closet over it. Finally, three average, blue-colored chairs with wheels at the end of their legs, with one being placed behind the cabinet and the other two standing in the middle of the room.
The doctor pulled the chair which was at the cabinet away from it, placed it closer to the two, and sat on it, "Please, take a seat." the doctor requested. Inko and Hisashi have seated on the other two chairs, close to each other. "First, I have to apologize for that phone call earlier in the day. I've wanted to call both Mrs. and Ms. Midoriya back later but didn't have time for it because I had lots of patients today. I hope I didn't make anyone worry." he pardoned.
"No doctor, not at all!" Hisashi rejoined, then looked at his wife, who turned her head to see him as well with a nervous smile on her face. Hisashi opened his eyes a little bit wider and started to feel guilty on account of this as his smile disappeared for a second, due to the fact that he was mostly the reason why she was so stressed. But in an attempt to not reveal this to both her and the doctor, he returned that previous smile of his on his face and looked back at the doctor, "So doctor, why you wanted the both of us to be presented here today?" he asked.
The doctor deeply exhaled and spoke up, "Well, how can I put this? As I said on the phone, I've got the results of the tests, and..." the doctor started nervously.
"What is it, doctor?" Hisashi wondered anxiously.
"As both of you might know, during these types of examinations, we check the level of luteinizing and follicle-stimulating hormones in the system of the individual through their blood and urine samples. And since these are the sex hormones that are mainly responsible for the control of the menstruation cycle, it means they play a big role in the process of reproduction too," he stated.
"Yeah, I understand that but what does that do with my wife?" Hisashi asked as Inko started to feel a cramped form inside her stomach.
"That's when it comes into view." the gynecologist continued, "During the examination of the samples of Mrs. Midoriya, we found out that the amount of luteinizing and follicle-stimulating hormones are unusually high, which can result in a very minimum or zero chance of the impregnation of the ovum, and thus the creation of a potential offspring."
"S-s-so d-d-does that mean...?" Inko stuttered with a trembling voice, already knowing the answer.
"You can't have children" the doctor stated sadly.
A deafening quietness followed this statement for at least one minute. Truth be told, Inko considered this as an answer and a possible reason for her kink, but still, the reality was hard to be accepted, as it hit as hard as a cannonball right into the stomach. She could feel the stomach cramps grow larger and larger, as she looked down and clenched her fists on her skirt, not saying a single word. To break the silence, Hisashi popped up a question for the doctor, which he thought Inko would be nosey for.
"I-Is there any cure or some kind of medicine as a solution?" Hisashi asked bitterly, still processing the previous information.
"Unfortunately, no, there isn't." the doctor justified, "In most cases, these types of disorders can be originated from the parents as an inherited disease or as a disturbance of the regulation of the hypothalamus, which can't be healed."
"I-I see." Hisashi replied woefully, accepting the reality that he won't be able to raise his own child, "Well, if that's the case, we can't do anything much about it. "Come, honey." he told his wife, as he and Inko stood up from their seats with Inko looking at the ground, not saying a word. They turned around and went to the door, ready to leave the room, "Sorry for wasting your precious time on us."
"You didn't waste my time. Take care!" he assured pityingly, feeling bad for the couple.
And thus, Inko and Hisashi exited the room, with Hisashi coming out from it as the last one and closing the door behind them. None of them swapped words with each other, just unhung their warm, comfortable coats from the stationary hanger they were hung up on and started to head towards the exit of the facility. As they walked towards the exit, they passed by other patients who have been waiting for their turns in front of the doors of separate examining rooms, with one of them being a well-suited man who was reading a newspaper at the moment, with only two large buffs of his hair sticking out from behind the paper. After they walked by him, the man lifted up his head from the newness he was holding, looked at the heartbroken Inko with his red eyes, and curved his smile into a malicious grin.
Finally, after like five minutes, they found the exit and left the hospital. The sun had already disappeared, letting the moon take its place in the night sky filled with countless stars, looking like tiny dots. The weather was cold and a little bit windy, as it was expected on a November night, but it didn't have any effect on them, thanks to the coats they were wearing. Once they reach their blue car, Hisashi unlocked it with its keys in his hands and opened the doors of the car. Before he hopped in, he ran quickly to his wife's side of the car and opened the door for her, offering her to get in the car first. Inko said nothing, not even looking at him, just simply sat on the passenger's seat. After he waited for her wife to get inside safely, Hisashi closed the door, took his place in front of the steering wheel, started the car, and drove away from the hospital.
The drive back home was just as quiet as the rest of the evening since they had left the gynecologist's office. Hisashi since he was driving and was not sure what to say and, yet again, Inko just sat there, looking down. After some time, they arrived at their apartment. Both of them got out of the car and went up the stairs. After they approached their apartment, Hisashi took out his key, put it into the lock, and opened the door for Inko to enter, then she went inside, and he got in as well and closed the door behind him. The apartment was smaller than a usual one, but it was homy, lovely, and perfect for the two of them, even for a child, but of course, a particular event on that day crossed this future plan of theirs.
Once they were inside, they took off their coats and shoes and after this, Inko started to head straight toward the kitchen.
"I-I'll be in the kitchen, if you want something." Inko declared, "I'm going to make f-fried chicken and rice for dinner. I-It will be done s-s-soon." she said while briefly looking at her husband and cracking a broken smile on her, just before she went inside their kitchen to prepare their next meal. After she was inside the kitchen, she opened the closet and took out a small bowl for the rice to be placed in. She would have taken out a larger one for the chicken as well, if Hisashi hadn't stopped her by grabbing her hand which reached out for the bowl delicately.
"Inko." he said regrettably, trying to look into his wife's eyes.
Inko couldn't take it anymore. It was just too much for her by then. She needed to let off some stress, one way or another. As she turned her head in the direction of her husband, she could feel the tears of sadness rolling down on her cheeks, like a waterfall in a tropical forest in the rainy season, and looked at Hisashi, "Why are we the ones who have to suffer from it? What did I do to deserve this?! Tell me, Hisashi, tell me!" Inko demanded hopelessly and heartbroken, as she tried to wipe the tears away from her eyes, but they just continued to flood from her tear ducks.
Seeing his wife suffer from that much emotional pain thanks to all the things that happened recently, even Hisashi could barely hold back his tears but for the sake of Inko, he didn't burst into tears. But in an attempt to comfort her, however, he spread his arms wide, offering her a hug, "Come here.".
Without any second thought, Inko rushed to her husband and hugged him immediately, continuing to cry on his shoulder, "I just wanted to have a normal life with a big happy family! I just wanted to have a beautiful child and watch him grow up while we live happily until the last days of our lives! Why can't I have it?!" she cried bitterly.
"Shh, there, there." he consoled while patting her back, "Don't worry, Inko! I'm sure we will get through it. Together."
"No, we won't! Only you!" she exclaimed out of the blue and got herself out of Hisashi's gesture, making him surprised by her sudden change of behavior, "You are the only one who will get through it! Because after you die, you'll leave me here forever like I was nothing and I don't know what I'm going to do without you!" Inko confessed, as her tears came out from her eyes and dropped on the ground.
Those words really hurt Hisashi, like a knife stabbed into the heart or a bullet into the head. However, he wasn't mad at her for saying those words, in fact, it was quite the opposite: he felt guilt. Guilt for causing her to be in this emotional state since he was diagnosed with cancer. Guilt for their current financial problem. And guilt for thinking that he had never supported her enough, which to be honest, was a big fat fucking lie because he always supported Inko both physically and mentally which she really appreciate, but that wasn't what he believed.
Realizing what she have just said, Inko wiped the tears away and looked down, not having enough bravery to look into her husband's eyes, "I-I'm sorry Hisashi, I didn't mean it." she apologized, "But c-can I go ou-outside? I-I just need some alone time."
"S-sure." Hisashi answered, not knowing what to say after all of this.
With this, Inko put the bowl down, left the kitchen, and made her way in the direction of the front door. As she reached it, she got down her red coat from the coat stand and put it on, wrapped her light pink colored scarf around her neck, pulled on her black shoes, and left the apartment, closing the door behind her. As Inko left, teardrops started to fall from Hisashi's eyes in disgrace and regret, putting his right index finger and thumb on his eyes, 'It's my fault! It's all my fault!'.
All of a sudden, a sharp, enormous pain struck him in the pit of his stomach, causing him to grab his stomach and become hunched instantly, "Oh no! This is bad!" he groaned. He sensed that huge pain once again, but now, it was even worse. He could feel the gorge of his slowly coming up in his esophagus, making him groan once again and rush inside the bathroom as fast as possible, closing the door behind him.
After leaving the apartment and going down the stairs, Inko headed off in the direction of the nearby park where she and Hisashi used to spend most of their free time together. The night was quiet as usual, even the sound of cars couldn't be heard, which was a little bit unusual, even in that part of the city. As it was expected, not many people inhabited the streets of the outskirts of Musutafu at this late, just only one or two who were going back to their homes after a day filled with long hours of hard work.
After around fifteen minutes, Inko reached the entrance of the park and its metal gate. It wasn't closed, so she could easily enter inside. The park itself was not anything special for ordinary folks, it was just a small, normal place for those who wanted to get closer to nature and have a nice, calm walk, which was able to be performed at nighttime, thanks to the few park lights who lightened up the park. But for Inko, it was one of the most important places of her entire life. It was the place where Hisashi proposed to her and she said yes happily. She was so happy on that day. On the happiest day of her life, she would have never guessed that just in one year and a half, things got this bad of a turn.
As those memories flashed inside her head, she noticed a lonely bench bathing in the light of one of those park lamps next to it. She has decided to approach it and take it as her seat. Once she sat on the bench, she buried her face in the palm of her hands and started to cry quietly while she listened to the quietness of the night. But little did she know, she was not alone. Thanks to her being focused on her cry, she couldn't hear the sound of footsteps approaching her closer and closer with every single step. At last, once the individual had stopped, the stomp of those feet finally faded away, becoming numb right beside her.
"Is everything alright, my dear?" a man asked with a rather strange voice, sounding like a man speaking through an old-fashioned radio.
From her palms, Inko lifted up her head and looked at the person who was talking to her. His appearance was quite out of the ordinary. The man was tall in size, but not as tall as All Might or Endeavor, standing at a proximately 7 feet height, as Inko measured with her eyes. He had beige-colored skin, dark-red eyes with red irises, and sharp, black pupils in them. His hair was mostly red, with a little bit of black at the tip of the tufts extending from the top of his head, looking like the ears of a deer, although Inko couldn't decide if those were his real ears or not. He also possessed a pair of small, black antlers on his head and a monocle at his right eye.
He was wearing a red pinstripe coat with dark-red lapels piped with white, which was ragged along the bottom hem. He was also wearing a bright red dress shirt under it, with a black cross on his chest, and long black dress pants. He had a black-knotted bowtie with bright red in its center, black gloves on his hands with red color at his fingertips, and black pointed-toe boots with deer hoofprints on the soles. But his most noticeable feature was that large, broad but unsettling smile on his face grinning from ear to ear, showing off his dozens of sharp, yellow teeth.
Realizing the fact that she was not the only one in the park, Inko quickly wiped away her tears and raised her head to look at the man, and assured him, "Y-yes, everything's okay."
"It doesn't seem like it to me by the looks of it." the man observed, his smile never disappearing.
"N-no. Everything's a-alright, really." Inko reassured, then the question that all people when they meet someone new popped up in her head and asked the man, "W-who are you?"
"Ahahahaha! How stupid of me! I was so engulfed in the listening of the tranquility of this peaceful night and with the searching for the source of the quiet sobbing that I even forgot to introduce myself properly! Please, forgive me for my rudeness! The name's Alastor!" the man said cheerfully, referring to himself as Alastor. After his introduction, he extended his short-clawed right hand for a handshake, "Now, who can I honor in you, my dear?"
With a little bit of hesitation, she accepted the gesture and shook Alastor's hand fondly, "Inko. Inko Midoriya."
"Well, Ms. Midoriya, it is a pleasure to meet you! Truly it is!" Alastor cheered, "But please, allow me to ask you a simple question that bothers my mind since I had noticed you sitting on this very bench: What on Earth is a gorgeous young lady like you doing outside this so modernish but yet old park at a time like this late of the night?" he wondered inquiringly.
"W-well, I-I just wanted to take a walk here to clear my head out after all the things that happened to me today. I've always thought a nice walk is perfect for this." Inko explained with a small smile on her face.
"So true, my dear! I couldn't agree with you any better! There are few things more calming and relaxing than a late-night stroll in a beautiful park under the starry night! Especially when it's the first for an individual to visit a Japanese one, such as myself ." he chuckled jovially, followed by an imaginary laughter of a crowd.
"Wait, you're not from Japan?" Inko asked with curiousness and suprise in her voice.
"Not at all, darling! In fact, I came here all over from the lovely state of Louisiana to Japan for the purpose of establishing a collaboration broadcast with the radio show of a hero called Present Mic and mine! But unfortunately for me, he refused my offer." the Radio demon explained.
Inko raised an eyebrow in curiosity, "So you're kind of a radio host ?"
"Hmm, you could say that." he replied. "But that's enough about me! What about you, darling? Why did you decide to have a peaceful walk on this dark night?" Alastor asked as he sat next to Inko.
As Alastor asked this, Inko could feel her waterworks start once again but she tried to avoid it, due to the friendly stranger she have just met, "W-Well, I-I don't want to talk about it."
"Oh? And what's the reason behind your decision, my dear?" Alastor questioned.
"B-Because i-it's personal for me." Inko argufied, down in the dumpster.
"Oh come on, darling! It's always better to confess the feeling that pressures your heart so much like a rock to someone than just sealing it and keeping it away inside you from everyone." he pointed out comfortably.
Alastor was right. How didn't she think about this solution? Of course, she could have called Mitsuki and Masaru to talk with them about it, but she didn't want to bother them with her problem, even though she knew both of them would help her without hesitation. And now, a stranger who she has just met told her the best thing she could do in that situation. But should she tell Alastor about her sterility? She had known him for like five minutes but throughout this time period, he was shown to be a trustworthy, caring, and kind person. It was really painful for her to talk about her health problem but she needed someone to speak about it aside from her husband, and now, there was a chance to do it. But the person she could pour out her soul to was Alastor who she had met not long ago.
As these thoughts ran through Inko's head, Alastor just sat there, checking his claws on his hand and waiting for her answer, until he spoke up, "Well, I suppose if you don't want to talk about it, I won't force you to get it out of you." he noted, as he stood up from his seat on the bench and summoned his cane.
"Huh?" Inko wondered in confusion, as she snapped out of her thoughts.
"It was nice to meet you, Ms. Midoriya. Have a pleasant night." The Radio demon said, then turned around and began to walk away from her. He made only five steps when Inko shouted at him.
"Wait!" she exclaimed forlornly.
Inko couldn't see it, but Alastor's grin became wider in happiness, knowing damn well by her voice filled with slough and grief that she took the bait.
He turned his head to the right and looked at Inko from the corner of his right eye, who was now standing in front of the bench, looking down at the sidewalk, "I-I'll tell you. B-But please, don't tell it to anyone else!" Inko begged despairingly.
After her request, Alastor turned around fully and walked back to her, "Why would I do that? I'm not some kind of uneducated, uncultured goof! I genuinely hate the ones who don't show respect for those of fairer means!" he remarked, as both of them seated back on the bench and his cane poofed away, "So, what has made you so messed up, my dear?"
"W-Well." she started, "Y-you see, I have a really kind, selfless husband who always cares about and loves me more than anything else in this world always cheers me up when I'm upset and makes me happy on every single day of my life. I still remember when we first met: I was at a party with my best friend and her boyfriend and I was standing near the counter when he came to me and asked me up for a dance. After the party, we started to see each other more regularly, then we started dating and the next thing I knew was we were getting married. All of this only in three years. Can you believe it?" Inko explained, as she smiled like an idiot and looked at the night sky.
"Yes, I can imagine it, darling. Judging by what you have told to me now, he must be a true gentleman." Alastor remarked, being reminded of his mother from Hisashi's personality
"He really is, but..." Inko giggled, then her smile disappeared from sight, looked down, and continued, "After we found out that he had stage 3 intestinal cancer and didn't have much time to live, everything went downhill. We spent most of our income on his treatment to c-cure him, but because of this, we couldn't pay our rent. And n-now we are months behind it." she said, trying to hold back her tears.
"Oh, what a pity. I'm truly sorry, sweetheart." Alastor commiserated, continuing to smile non-stop.
"Thank you, but that's not all." she added "B-Because today, w-we went to the hospital t-to get t-the result of the examination of m-my blood and u-urine samples a-and t-there t-they discovered t-t-that...".
"What did they tell you, my dear?" Alastor quizzed inquisitively.
"That I can't have my own child!" Inko bewailed, while her waterworks turned on once again, "Due to the too high amount of two hormones in my body, I'm biologically incapable of bearing a child inside me! And thanks to this, I can never give Hisashi the son he wishes for!" she confessed while trying to clean away the tears of sadness and sorrow.
"There there. Don't pipe your eyes too much, darling. Here, take this." Alastor comforted, handing over a textile handkerchief with the same red color as his eyes to her.
Inko took the handkerchief which Alastor offered generously out of his hand and proceeded to blow her nose into it, "I just wanted to thank him for all the things he had done for me by giving him the thing both of us wanted the most, but unfortunately, it will never happen thanks to me." Inko said, then proceeded to wipe away the droplets of tears from her face, with not much success, "If only I could just...give him a child somehow."
There it was. The perfect opportunity. The perfect time for Alastor to drop the question. For him, this day in the world of humans was rather boring than eventful and exciting. It became even worse for him after that large, spiky, blond-haired, speaker-wearer, joke of a radio host heroin turned him down earlier the day, even after he offered to reveal to him what happened with his long-lost school friend all those years ago.
But with Inko, it would be different. With her, this yearly visit of his in the mortal realm would be fruitful once again, and he could add a new card to his collection. And so, it was decided. He will ask the question which unknowingly to him, will change his afterlife forever and will provide him with the most entertaining show he had ever seen, maybe even greater than The Stock Market Crash of 1929.
"Hmm." Alastor hummed thoughtfully, "And what if tell you, I have a solution for your problematic situation?"
"What?" Inko puzzled as she cleaned her watery eyes with Alastor's handkerchief.
"I can free you from this lifestyle full of sadness and desperation. Free from those chains who keep you down at the bottom of the lake of unhappiness and don't let you breath the air of light-heartedness," he said convincingly, as some kinds of red symbols began to float around him and ghost-like shadows became alive behind his back, observing the scene with excitement. All of this was witnessed by Inko, who watched it happen in awe, "And instead, I can give what you desire the most. Give a healthy, beautiful little boy, who will give you happiness for the rest of your in this world. Give you the life that you would have never had. So to speak." Alastor remarked while Inko looked at him with sparkling eyes as a miniature version of hers, made out of green fog appeared in his right palm with a small, happy child in its hands, hugging each other, "So, what do you say, darling?"
Inko couldn't say even a single word. Alastor, the American radio host she had just met not long ago was saying there was a key to her situation. It was too good to be true, even unrealistic. But it felt so... off for her. So she didn't her guard down, although the deal sounded really tempting, "I-I don't know..." she answered unsurely.
"Of course, you don't have to trust in me." Alastor started, "You can go back to your beloved husband to wait until he leaves this world and be alone on this one forever for the rest of your life. Or! Accept my offer and become truly happy once more with your child by your side. With this, you won't be that lonely anymore, get what you want and make both of you delighted." he finished as he extended his right for a handshake once again, but this time, his palm emitted a green aura around and a huge gust of wind blew out of his hand, blowing Inko's and Alastor's hairs for a moment.
"W-Why would you do this?" Inko asked unsurely and confused.
"Who wouldn't I?! It is my duty to assist those who need my service! After all..." Alastor remarked cheerily, pushing his hand a little bit closer to Inko, "What are friends for?"
Inko looked at her hands, thinking about what to do, then clenched her fists and focused her attention on the Radio Demon with visible determination and seriousness on her face, " If you do this, I want the child to look like Hisashi. And! If Hisashi survives, I want him to know nothing about this! "
"So...It's a deal, then?" Alastor asked as spinned his staff into his left hand and outstretched his right hand for a handshake once again, but this time, his palm emitted a green aura around it and a huge gust of wind erupted from his hand, blowing both Inko's and Alastor's hairs for a moment.
Inko looked at Alastor's hand. Then at Alastor. Then at Alastor's hand again. She thought about everything that happened so far. Hisashi, her life with him, how he made her happy all of the time, how he sometimes told her how much he always dreamed about having a son and how much she wanted to make his dream become true and how many happy memories she had about him.
"Deal." she replied confidently, taking and shaking Alastor's hand in assent.
"Yes!" Alastor cheered in evil joy.
In that moment, all the confidence that Inko had vanished instantly when a green circle of magic appeared around her wrist. The circle moved away from her wrist up on her arm, to her shoulder, then slithered down to Inko's stomach and forced itself inside her. As it entered her body and slowly faded away, she started to feel sick more and more, until it disappeared completely and the demented feeling she had transformed into unbearable pain. It was so painful for her that it caused her to fall down from the bench to the ground and become hunched up while grabbing her stomach in immense pain. It was like her stomach could blow up in any moment. She was crying so heavily that her tears fill a dried lake, while Alastor observed the whole scene in enjoyment with a sadistic grin.
After five minutes of struggling and torment, the pain had finally vanished. But unfortunately for her, it already had done what it had to do. Inko spread out on the cold sidewalk, lying on her abdomen which was hurting moments ago. Suddenly, her eyelids started to feel heavy and her vision became blurry. Before she fainted, she took one last look at the man who caused her to experience this amount of pain. When she looked at Alastor, she only saw his red eyes, with his irises turned into radio dials, and a large smile, larger than any normal human could possess, on his face.
"Until we meet again, my dear." Alastor chuckled without moving his mouth, followed by a peal of demonic laughter echoing in the air.
With this being the last thing she saw and heard, her eyelids became so heavy that she couldn't keep them open anymore, closed her eyes and lost her consciousness, venturing into the empty, dark inside of her head.
Inko slowly opened her eyes and as she did, she realized she was lying on the same bench she placed herself on when she came to the park instead of the sidewalk where she became unconscious as she remember. As she sat up, she looked around the area, observing her surrounding. After she was sure that she was completely alone, she placed her hands on her belly, thinking about whether this deal thing was true or was it just a bad dream.
She look up to the clean, cloudless night sky and saw the moon shining its bright light down on her, looking just like it was when she left her home. The only difference was that it was higher in the sky, suggesting that a lot of time had gone by since she visited the park. Recognizing this, she recomposed herself, let out a sigh, stood up from the bench, walked towards the exit of the park and after she left it, she began her journey back to her apartment.
The walk didn't take too long, just a couple of minutes. As she arrived at the front door, she put her key into the lock and before she turned it, she took a slight breath and let it out. Then, she unlocked the door and entered the apartment.
"I'm baaaack." she said in a low-spirited tone as she put her coat and scarf on the hanger. Once she was done with this, she walked to the living room. To her suprise, the room was occupied by no one. She looked around inside the room as fast as she could, but she didn't find any sign of her husband's presence. Not only that, she didn't notice the red, old-fashioned radio on the small table between the TV and the sofa.
Understandably, the disappearance of her husband made her nervous and called out for her husband, "Honey? Are you here?"
Silence. That was the only thing she heard. This, of course, just made her more anxious. In another desperate attempt to know Hisashi's location, she called out for him again desperately, "Hisashi! Where are you?". Just as she said this, she noticed that a little bit of light coming out from under the door of the bathroom. She walked to the door and slowly pushed down its handle, opening it in the process. After she opened it, a horrific scenery was laid upon her eyes. Hisashi, her loving husband, was kneeling in front of the toilet unconsciously, with his head over the toilet bowl.
"Hisashi!" she exclaimed as she rushed to his side. After she got next to him, she looked inside the bowl and saw blood in it. A lot of blood. As she saw this, she grabbed his right arm in an instant and placed two of her fingers on it in order to check his pulse. He was alive. She sighed in relief when she felt his heart's beating, but he still needed medical care. So she grabbed her phone and dialed the phone number of the ambulance. Thankfully, they arrived shortly after her call and took both of them to the hospital.
After they arrived, they separated them quickly and took Hisashi to the intensive care to treat him as fast as they could and tried to stabilize his condition. During this, Inko called Mitsuki and Masaru and told them everything about the current situation, except her medical issue and the whole deal thing with Alastor. Hearing the news from Inko, whose eyes were getting watery as she spoke with them, they drove there faster than the speed of light, and after they arrived, Mitsuki embraced her with a big, strong hug, so strong that it could break every single bone inside her body. They asked her where Hisashi was taken, but just before she could answer; a doctor interrupted their conversation.
He told them that they successfully stabilized Hisashi's condition and he regained his consciousness, however, he informed them with the tragic truth that thanks to his rapidly declining health, Hisashi didn't have much time to live. All of them were devastated upon hearing this, especially Inko. The doctor let them to check on him as many times as they wanted, which was exactly what they did after they were informed and continued to do this for a while until two weeks later, the 27 years old man called Hisashi Midoriya succumbed to his disease.
A few days after his funeral, Inko suddenly started to feel dizzy and she asked Mitsuki to take her to a doctor. There, after the tests she went over ended, to the Inko's suprise, they found out that she had become pregnant. Mitsuki hugged her best friend without hesitation and was over the moon upon hearing this, not just because she was going to have a nephew, but because there was finally something to cheer Inko up after Hisashi has died. On the other hand, Inko was frozen in place, due to the fact that this comfired that her deal with Alastor was true. During all that time, the Bakugos tried to support her as much as they could, even after their son was born.
And thus, after nine months of pregnancy, the time had finally come for her to give birth to her child.
"One more, Mrs. Midoriya!" a nurse encouraged the green-haired woman who was trying not to faint from the pain.
With one final push, the child was fully out of her birth canal and it let it out to the world by crying as loud as it could.
"Congratulations, Mrs. Midoriya! It's a boy!" the nurse stated joyously.
"C-Can I...can I see him?" Inko panted tiredly while trying to cacth her breath.
"Of course." The nurse replied as she cleaned off the blood from the baby's body with a white towel and wrapped a red swaddle around his tiny, fragile body. After finishing that, she walked next to her with the child in her arms and handed him over to his mother, "Here you go."
Inko took her child into her hands and took a closer look at her son. Without a doubt, he was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen in her entire life. He had wisps of green hair on his head and small freckles on his face. He didn't open them, but he had green eyes as well, just like his mother. She knew in that moment that it didn't matter what way he was born or how he looked, he was her little green bean and he will always stay that no matter what.
As she was observing her little baby, the boy slowly calmed down in her arms and became quiet. After that, the stepped to her desk and took a paper with the list of those children's names who had been born on that day, then walked back next to the happy new mother and her newborn, "Sorry to interrupt, but can I ask for the little one's name? I just need it for the list." she said.
"Izuku. Izuku Midoriya." She answered while smiling weakly and looking at her son, hugging him tightly.
"Izuku Midoriya." she repeated, "What a cute name!" she remarked while writing it down, "I'll need to take the little fellow later to check the usual but I won't bother anymore! I'll let you have a calm rest." The nurse remarked before she left the room and slid the room shut.
After watching her leave the room, Inko kissed Izuku on his forehead and cooed, "I love you, Izuku."
Meanwhile, in Hell, the whole scene was listened by Alastor, who was sitting in an armchair with small spikes at its sides in front of a fireplace. As usual, he had his iconic smile on his face, while on both of his sides, he was accompanied by other two armchairs which were teleported there by him for the two other demons who were in the same room as him. One of them was an anthropomorphic cat demon with black-and-white fur, red wings, a red bowtie, a black top hat with a red hatband and a golden button-like decoration, and black suspenders over his shoulder. The other was a female, small one-eyed cockroach demon with pink hair with a yellow highlight in it and a 1950s maid dress with a white apron and three dripping splotches.
The cyclops was jumping up and down in exitement, while the cat demon was frozen in shock by all the things he heard and saw through the special radio's projection they were watching. The felyne was the first to speak up:
"You've got to be shittin' me." Husk said in shock
"No, unfortunately, Husker, this is not a joke." Alastor remarked to the cat's comment.
"You gave that motherfuckin' woman a kid who has your powers!? Have you lost your fuckin' mind?!" Husk question furiously, standing up from his seat , grabbing and pulling Alastor to himself by his collar.
"In fact, my friend, I did lose my sanity! That's why the citizens of Hell think I'm insane!" Alastor replied jovially as always, with the laughter of an imaginary crowd following his previous statement.
Hearing the answer, Husk dropped him down in anger and sat back into his armchair, "This is ridiculous. A half-demon boy in the world of humans? It sounds like a really bad joke." he grumbled under his nose
I have to make you sad, Husker, but this is not a joke. I did gave a child to that poor woman. There's nothing to fuss about that. Besides, I was just only doing my part of the deal! She just need exploit every opportunity until her time to pay the debt." Alastor sexplained.
"Whatever." Husk answered as he opened his half-drunk whiskey, "Do what you want with him. I don't care." he stated, continuing to drink his beverage.
Suddenly, the cockroach demon gasped in suprise, "I can't believe it! You have a son, Alastor! And he's so cute! I can't wait to meet him!" Niffty cooed excitedly, jumping up and down in her.
"Me too, my dear Niffty, but I'm afraid we need to wait a little longer for that." Alastor said, looking back at the radio's projection.
"Really? Aaaw." Niffty cooed sadly.
"But don't worry, it will come sooner or later. After all..." he started, placing his chin on his hands and looking back at the radio, "An Overlord of Hell must know the place where he will rule."
Both of his servants looked at the radio with curiosity, even the grumpy Husk who didn't care much about it after he lashed out at Alastor. There, they saw the now asleep Inko with the sleeping Izuku in her arms. Although none of them said it out loud, but all three of them agreed on the same thing:
This kid is going to be very special.
There it is. The first chapter is finally done. What do you think about it? Is it good or is it bad? Please let me know. I've tried my best to make it as good as possible with my beginner writing skills. And if you don't like it, that's fine. Feel free to write it down why you didn't like it. I'll try to upload other chapters with the best quality I can provide as regularly as I can. Have a nice day(or night) and stay healthy. Peace!
