Description: Izuku gets a quirk at the age of four. Mimicry. He can change his appearance and physique.
"Well Ms and Mr Midoriya. I don't really know what to say. I'm new to being a quirk doctor you see."
Inko was sitting with her son Izuku in a doctors office awaiting the results of a quirk diagnosis test. This statement had sent the two greenettes into inner nervous breakdowns. The pair were uncannily similar considering the age difference.
"Excuse me doctor, but I don't really know what you're getting at." Inko said with clear nervousness in her voice.
The doctor looked at her for a second before picking up on what she was saying.
"Oh oh, don't worry. I'm sorry for my ambiguity. We're just… a bit stumped. There is something there." A wave of relief washed over the worried mother at the last sentence. Inko would like to believe that she kept it in but the pause in the doctor's speech suggested otherwise.
"As I was saying. There is something there, a quirk, and it's a mutant type. That's really it."
Inko was confused. Stumped? Wasn't that all they needed to know.
She didn't even have to say anything.
"I get what the two of you are thinking." He said and gave a smile to little Izuku in his chair. "But when I say that's it, I mean, that's it." The doctor opened a drawer in his desk and pulled out a paper, reading a bit before he spoke again.
"You see, there is usually more than that. Like a lot more. Sorry if I sound unprofessional but as I said, we're stumped."
The doctor flicked the paper in his hand like he'd just received and F on an assignment.
"Genome is nothing like anything we or anyone has ever seen before, and I'm gonna be completely honest, it felt like we were analysing play dough in the lab."
"Uhm doctor?" Izuku piped up for the first time. The doctor gave him an expectant look which made the already shy boy even more hesitant to ask anything.
"Do you think I can be a hero with my quirk?"
The doctor glanced down a bit to see an All-Might toy in the boy's lap. It was his birthday today. His lip tightened a bit before a smile grew across his face.
"Sure you can." He said with a gentle but affirming tone. Then he looked to the boy's mother.
"If you don't have any more questions you're free to go. Come back if anything changes and you Mr Midoriya." He said looking back to Izuku.
"Have a wonderful birthday."
Izuku smiled at this and he looked to Inko who was smiling back. As they left the pair waved goodbye to the nice doctor.
"Mom"
…
"He said I could be a hero!" The green haired boy yelled.
He was on the ground holding his arm in front of him protectively.
"Well he's lying! You're useless and you know it."
The person talking was Katsuki Bakugou, an atomic blond with an explosive temper and a quirk to match. Up until a few days ago he and Izuku had been good friends. But ever since the unsure diagnosis of Izuku's quirk it was like a fuse was slowly burning in the little terrorist's head. This was the figurative explosion.
"Why would you say that Kaccan? It's just late."
The blonde stood over the cowering green bean who wasn't so green anymore, a mixture of playground dust and soot giving his hair an ashy white hue.
"You tell yourself that Izu. I like sticking to the facts, and what I see is a deku with no quirk. I'm just trying to make you realise."
Katsuki held up his hand. Small pops could be heard coming from his palms. He aimed his right hand towards Izuku's face and released an explosion faster than Izuku could put up his guard. Katsuki saw something splatter on the ground. It wasn't red, which was the only kind of liquid he was expecting. This had a beige colour to it, and it wasn't pooling like any liquid that he'd seen before. Izuku had pulled his head to the side after the explosion and after the dust had passed he turned back to face his aggressor.
Katsuki met his gaze and they both stared at each other.
A drop of the beige substance dripped from Izuku's face onto his dinosaur shirt.
Izuku felt where the blast had hit him and thought he was holding slime. He pulled away instinctively and looked at what was now on his fingers. As he pulled away his head stung making him wince. Which made him realise he couldn't feel the left side of his face. He looked back at Katsuki who was frozen in place.
Izuku tried to say something but his words were slurred. He tried wiping whatever was covering his face away with his hand but felt it cover more and more of his face and hands.
Katsuki looked at the green haired boy. He was completely petrified. The entire right side of Izuku's face looked like half melted candle wax, he registered that the green haired tried to say something but couldn't pick it up. Then he started trying to wipe his face, warping and disfiguring it even further. Katsuki's breathing grew heavy and he could feel his heart beating out of his chest. It felt like time wasn't moving and was flying by at the same time. After what felt like seconds and hours at the same time Izuku's face had entirely disappeared in the skin tones sludge. His hair too.
The greenette fell to the ground, clawing at what used to be his face in what looked to be an attempt at revealing his mouth or nose to breathe.
At this point Katsuki broke out of his tranz and almost flew down to try to help his friend. He laid Izuku on his back and sat on his chest, helping him pull away the awful sludge. But it appeared to be of no help.
Katsuki looked up from the suffocating but under him to see if there was anyone there but he had chosen this time on purpose because he knew no one would be out. He looked around frantically, looking for anyone that could be of help. Then he looked down and froze. Crimson eyes met crimson and stayed unmoving for a small eternity.
Katsuki could feel laboured breathing where he was sitting, but this did nothing to calm him. He was looking down at a mirror image of himself. He stood up quickly looking at what had previously been Izuku as it did the same.
"Kaccan?" It said worriedly.
"What happened?"
Silence.
They were staring at each other again.
Katsuki bore a confused shocked expression as his mind tried, and failed at rationalising the situation.
"You. You are. Y-You look like me." He mustered out.
"What?"
It even had his voice. No trace of Izuku was left.
"You look like me."
End of chapter 0.5
This was a lil teaser chapter for the story. Expect longer chapters in the future.
Do y'all like this? Lmk cause I will happily update this. Just don't want to plan too much out so that it becomes way too big of a story so that I lose the motivation to work on it.
This was mimic Izuku's first day and I you like him. Don't think mimicking others is the only thing he will do though. I've got things planned. Action, identity galore.
Cya.
