I figured it was time to try Camp Jupiter, which really makes more sense for a mortal boy anyway... they employ a lot of legacies and clearsighted, so why not?
I am really proud of this idea.
The day after the Winter Solstice, First Book
Rowan knew his life would never be the same the moment the wolves came. He was a runaway, and stayed a strange rundown house, feeling drawn by something he could not explain. It was the strangest thing, like it called him. He suspected it was an answer to his prayers, to the prayers for something he had never had.
Hope.
Corny, but it was true. Or maybe it was a hallucination, who cared. All that mattered was that he reached the Wolf House just in time for literal wolves to appear, right from the Mist. Big, vicious wolves with the pack's leader standing tall, taller than he was, and he was nearly six feet tall at twelve years old.
Oddly, he felt no fear. "Who are you?" He asked, seeing beyond human intelligence in their eyes, stance and bodies.
The wolf laughed, an odd barking sound. 'My boy, what are you doing here? Most would find us repulsive, fearing out very presence?'
Rowan frowned. "I... am not sure. I feel drawn to this place. I pray for hope, I never did that before, and someone answered me. I think so anyway, I felt a pull here. I followed it and boom, here I am."
The Wolf nodded, sniffing him. 'I smell a goddess' essence on you, someone is looking out for you. Odd, as I sense no divinity in you, you lack any trace of immortal blood. You are not even a legacy of a Roman god...'
"Wait, you're Lupa, right?"
The Wolf smirked. 'That I am... I am Lupa, Mother of Rome's first Founders. I guide and train new soldiers, the new protectors of Rome's legacy... What did you pray for?'
Rowan looked down. "Hope... I do not want to die on the streets... alone. I wanted family, friends and to never be so weak as to suffer alone. I wanted the power to make my life what I wanted it to be."
'What made you pray?'
"A book on witchcraft, spells are just incantations with energy behind it like a prayer. I figured trying it couldn't hurt... I kept the book." He pulled it out, and Lupa snickered. " What?"
'A modern book of magic, but that rule is true for all magic... your first spell came true, you cast a calling spell, and it found a place your wishes could come to fruition. Hmm... come with me, child, and I will answer your prayers. I will turn you into a warrior, and when you are strong enough, you will find your place in Camp Jupiter, to serve the gods and the legacy of Rome."
Without hesitation, that is exactly what Rowan did, joining Lupa's side as they moved onward, ready to join the legacy of Rome and never be so weak again...
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
This was a joy to write.
