1. The World Cup!
It had been 5 years since he triumphed over Voldemort and the following days were immensely hectic and boring to him. The Ministry wanted to parade him around. The Daily Prophet was singing his praises as if they hadn't declared him a mentally unstable attention-seeker just 2 years ago. His friends had families to go back to, so they didn't have much time for him. Not that he blamed them for it. In the past 5 years, he had learned many things from Black Library and the Potter family Grimores. He was not surprised to see the amount of dark rituals he could find in Black Library.
One thing that shocked him was the return of the Elder wand and the resurrection stone, even though he had abandoned them to not fall prey to temptations his predecessors had fallen to, including Albus Dumbledore. After many failed tries of throwing them away and even destroying them, he decided to throw them through the veil of death, thinking that maybe 'death' would accept their 'Hallows' back.
He sneaked into the Department of Mysteries, not because he wasn't allowed entry, but because he wouldn't be able to find peace if the ministry knew he was there. He stood in front of Veil and summoned the items preparing to send the items of death away. He was able to listen to the voices of Sirius and his parents calling him. He occluded his mind but he was unable to refrain from wishing to see them again.
At the same time, he heard a melodic voice most probably belonging to a lady who said "As you wish!"
The Elder wand and Ressurection stone started to give black vapours. Some of them were released from his cloak but unlike the Elder wand and Ressurection stone, they didn't completely dissolve into black smokey vapours. In a second many pictures came into his mind despite his occlumency barriers. From the pictures, he understood the voice he heard belonged to 'Death' and somehow she was about to make it possible for him to see his parents and Godfather. Unfortunately, he didn't get the message about leaving for an alternate reality a bit too late. He sighed feeling guilty of leaving his godson behind. At least he had made sure to leave everything behind to Teddy.
He braced himself as he landed at what he recognised as the venue when The Quidditch World Cup final happened just before his 4th year and the Triwizard Tournament mess. The major problems started from this very day.
After picking himself up off the ground and the undignified sprawl he had ended up in, Harry had walked toward the stadium, to the large grouping of tents outside that were currently empty.
Harry arrived in the area around the stadium just as wizards and witches alike streamed from the stadium. Apparently the game had just ended and the champion's had been crowned. It didn't take him long to overhear that the game and score was the same as it had been back in "his world." 170-160 with an Ireland victory. Bulgaria's Ivanova had scored their only goal, and Viktor Krum had caught the snitch.
Harry stalked through the huge ensemble of wizards who were all lost in their merriment or their griping about the results of the World Cup. Currently he was in the midst of some Bulgarians who were all bemoaning the fact that their team, with the exception of their seeker, had been roundly eviscerated. Some were angry and raging at the officiating and the loss of their beloved team.
He idly wondered why everyone wouldn't just leave now that the match was over, when he remembered the same anti-apparition wards that kept him from apparating in, would keep people from apparating out. He also wondered if the wards would keep wizards from making portkeys. That made sense to him, preventing any non-ministry approved portkeys from being used would be necessary wards for an event like this as well.
Harry was startled out of his thoughts by the sounds of screams that began to sound like something other than laughter and merriment. He turned his head in the direction of the scream, and his suspicions were confirmed moments later as people began rushing past him, with cries of "Death Eaters!"
"And so… it begins." Harry muttered to himself, turning fully and beginning to make his way against the flow of the crowd that was increasing, more and more people were beginning to rush past him, as he doggedly made his way toward the disturbance. It took him far longer to than he expected. It was a combination of people fleeing in panic, and distance away from where they started.
His anger quickly built at seeing the masks and hoods that were the same as in his memory. With a flick of his wrist, his phoenix feather and holly wand was in his hand.
His anger surged to new heights when he noted that the number of Death Eaters seemed to be about two dozen, gathered in a group. Yet, these two dozen, were enough to inspire thousands if not tens of thousands of witches and wizards to flee from them like frightened children. The crowd had completely thinned now, though the Death Eaters hadn't noticed him striding towards them. About the only good thing Harry could think was that he couldn't sense Voldemort among the group.
However as he got closer to the group, something else came to his attention. Several of the death eaters were bunched together in a group and had their attention focused on something. It only took a moment to figure out what.
There was a cluster of six death eaters standing not ten yards from two huddled figures on the ground. The only thing Harry could tell about the figure was that they were dressed in dark blue and green, and that they were female. The figure on the ground was screaming as one of the Death Eaters held her under a spell.
They were holding the woman under the cruciatus curse.
Harry snarled, his rage peaking at the figures in front of him. He raised his wand, and even though he was too distant from the death eaters for his aim to be pinpoint accurate, he whipped his wand forward.
"Glacies Hasta!"
A long spear made up of ice was conjured in front of his wand and banished at the one holding the cruciatus in high speed. The spear tore through numerous tents in between and hit the death eater, piercing him from back and coming out of front, destroying one of his lung. As if that was not enough, the death eater who was hit, turned into ice before falling appart into pieces. He didn't get enough time to even shout.
The Death Eaters that had dived to the sides, had easily seen where such an eye-catching spell had come from, and suddenly he was under a barrage of spells aimed his way.
"Terra collidere!"
With a wave of his wand, Harry had ripped off several pieces of ground and zipped off intercepting every spells of death eaters before they reached Harry.
"Fraxines Serpentia!"
A spell used by ancestors of black family. Dark fumes of smoke started coming out of Harry's wand until they conjured into 20 foot Basilisk with yellow glaring eyes. With a hiss, it waved through attacks targeting multiple death eaters due to its large size.
Taking the oppurtunity, he reached the victims only to be surprised. The figure in a ball on the ground was actually two figures. Two blonde girl were wrapped around their respective siblings protectively. It took only a second for Harry to recognize them both. Fleur Delacour and Daphne Greengrass were using their bodies to shield their younger siblings, Gabrielle and Astoria. Harry recognised Astoria, as future wife of his Hogwarts' self-proclaimed rival Draco Malfoy. For a moment he thought why would Astoria marry in death eater family after going through this.
His shock was nearly his undoing. He closely missed a blood boiling curse that would have chipped his shoulder if he hadn't dodged. He looked at his opponents to see his conjured Basilisk fell from numerous killing curses from death eaters. He let his flow through his wand and pointed it towards ground.
"Cavus Glacies Carceris!"
A cube made up of Ice sureounded the victims of Cruciatus curse, protecting them from any rouge or intented spells. A blood boiling curse slammed into the conjured ice prison but couldn't budge it. The spell created heavy mass of Ice at the six surfaces of the cube, while leaving the other areas completely hollow. The dense mass of Ice was able to tank numerous killing curses and Bombarda.
"P..please… don't hurt her." came a shaky voice.
Harry turned his head slightly to see that Fleur had shifted herself between Gabrielle and himself and was hovering protectively. Daphne's eyes also were saying same thing.
Harry shook his head at the fear and plea in the voice, and he couldn't stop himself from replying. "Don't worry Miss Delacour, Miss Greengrass. I'm not here to hurt you."
The defense was vulnerable to sound based attacks though as it transmitted sound. He knew the inbred morons wouldn't figure it out anyway.
"Glacius Ave!"
Numerous Ice projectiles conjured around Harry and was banished in all directions, as he was surrounded by death eaters.
Cries of Protego and Ageis were heard all around as Voldemort's goons stopped the projectiles from puncturing them. He saw, who he believed to be Barty Crouch Jr. blast the incoming projectiles with exploding curses. Harry shook his head deciding the pshyco death eater's death before Voldemort's return was a blessing.
Over the loud whirl of wind around him he heard a voice shout, "It's the dark mark! Which one of you cast it!?"
The first voice was followed shortly after by another, "No time! Aurors are here! Portkeys! Grab any wounded!"
He knew portkey wards were up. So the Death Eaters must have had ones approved by the Ministry allowing them to get through.
"What a shock. Corruption in the Ministry." Harry said as he allowed the shield to drop a few moments later, looking around cautiously. After being certain that the Death Eaters were all gone he finally dropped his guard a little.
He turned his attention back to the two girls who were still huddled behind the remains of a wall staring up at him in a combination of fear, surprise and awe.
"They're gone. Are you all okay?" Harry asked as he took slow deep breaths.
Gabrielle nodded her head but didn't say anything, staying curled close to her sister. Fleur's blue eyes were staring at him as she slowly nodded. "Oui…. Are you?" The cautious concern in her voice was evident.
Harry nodded almost absently after checking them both closely, he began looking around at the destruction the fight had caused. "I'm fine."
"Are you sure?" Daphne insisted, this time there was genuine concern in her voice which shocked him as the only times he had heard talking to someone was in very cold and bland tone.
Harry just smiled at them, not that they could see anything other than his green eyes due to use of obscurtion charm, and replied in positive.
"Drop your wand and don't move!" cried someone.
Harry looked up to see more than a dozen dark cloaked aurors moving toward him with their wands drawn. He opened his mouth to tell them he was a friend but was cut off.
"I said drop the wand, or we'll stun you where you are." The voice said, his tone brooking no argument. However one of the aurors wasn't as patient as the others and he shouted a "Stupefy!" with a quick whip of his wand toward Harry.
Harry was annoyed and was going to reply before, his mind was bombarded with images on courtesy of 'death'.The last thing he heard before he disappeared in a burst of flame was a female voice shouting "No wait he didn't-" The rest of the voice was lost as he was wisked away.
