Chapter 11: Shaw K'Naw
One day, at a jewelry store, a big mechanical bird of the Light Civilization blasted through the glass doors and landed on the display cases. Just then, a security guard ran into the room. But the bird released a blinding light from its eyes. "ARGH! I can't see!" The guard cried, being blinded by the light. The bird flew out of the store with the jewels in a bag.

Meanwhile, the Pierce-Okamoto family were settling down to breakfast while Janet was running late for work. "Oh, boy, I'm late! Ray, Jen, would you and the Autocons mind picking up Grandpa's medicine today before leaving for the temple today?" Janet asked. "Oh, it'll wait. I'm fine. The children have better things to do better on the weekend besides their training." Grandpa Raiden assured. "We don't mind, Grandpa." Jen said. "Yeah. It's the least we can do for our Ojī-san." Ray said. "Oh, thanks, sweeties. Have a good day." Janet said as she left. Grandpa Raiden gave Ray and Jen an appreciated smile. They smiled back.
Later, after picking up their friends, Ray and Jen rode with Landslide towards the Asian district of San Campion. "Thanks for giving us a lift, Landslide. And thanks for coming, guys." Ray said. "Yeah. It's a really big help to our mom and grandpa." Jen said. "Hey, it's our pleasure." Greta said. "Yeah, we love riding with Landslide…to a funky old Chinese medicine shop." Gabe said. "Now, Gabriel, we are Ray and Jen's nearest and dearest friends. And it is next door to Choustan Sum Palace." Allie said. "Yeah, man. We can pick up some food there while Ray and Jen pick up Grandpa Raiden's medicine." Terry said. "Well, I am a fan of Cantonese cuisine." Gabe said. "Me too. I love the poached lobster soup." Portia said. Just then, Ray and Jen saw the bird fly over them. "Whoa. That is definitely not your everyday bird." Ray said. "Not unless it's one of those mechanical ones from ancient Greece." Jen said. "So…no Chinese food?" Gabe asked in disappointment. "How could you ask that at a time like this?" Greta snapped. "Landslide, can you take us to the temple?" Ray asked. "One detour coming right up." Landslide said.
Later, as the kids entered the temple, they ran over to Nigel and the Kazamas, who were observing the city through Argus. "Master Brightmore, Sakura, Kaito, Miku!" Ray called. "We came as soon as we got your text, Ray. What's up?" Sakura asked. "We just saw this weird thing zipping through the air." Jen said. "Let me guess. You think you saw a UFO. It may interest you to learn that most UFOs are actually Light Civilization creatures who have breached the Veil." Nigel explained. "Gee. If only he knew." Allie whispered. "I have Stalker Spheres positioned all across the city. It'll give us a look at your mystery creature." Nigel said. He looked through the recordings from the Stalker Spheres until he noticed something was off. "Odd. Several Spheres are missing." He said. Gabe received a news alert on his phone and took it out. "You know what else is odd? There was a very strange jewelry store robbery this morning." He said. "Before we saw that wing-y thing?" Allie asked. "It says that eye witnesses reported seeing a large bird and then a blinding light." Maribel said, reading the alert. "Yes, I'm sure they did." Nigel said with doubt. "This is a final transmission from one of my Spheres." He activated a playback from one of the missing Spheres, revealing the bird. "That's it. That's the one." Jen said. "It appears to be a Thunder Guardian. Should be moderately powerful. Interesting." Nigel said. "I wonder how it got through the Veil." Miku said. "So, we're going to track it down?" Ray asked. "You may assist me in tracking it down. But first, we must clear something up." Nigel said.
Later, Nigel, the kids and the Kazamas prepared to leave in the training arena. "But why can't Jen and I just summon Bob and Weave, and go after it?" Ray asked. "First, because you 2 can't have Tatsurion the Unchained and Skarvos the Assassin stomping about the city in broad daylight." Nigel said. "They're size would cause a sensation." Gabe said in agreement. "You're not helping." Jen said. "Second, a true Duel Master can summon whatever creature is suitable for the task at hand." Nigel said as he picked up a Light tablet from the table and handed it to Ray. "For example: Stalker Spheres and Enforcers can bend light around themselves, thus rendering them almost invisible. Now summon this." Ray studied the tablet before putting it down and prepared to summon the creature. "Flare Inhibitor!" He called, opening a door as said creature, a yellow drone-type creature with little robot arms, came through, sparking with electricity. "Greetings. I am Flare Inhibitor." It greeted. "You will now train this Enforcer to follow your commands." Nigel said. Ray walked up to Flare Inhibitor and touched him, receiving an electric jolt on his finger. He jolted his hand back in pain. "My apologies. I meant no harm." Flare Inhibitor apologized. "I just wanted to see how you like to work." Ray said. "You will find that a firmer hand it acquired." Nigel said.
"You need no firm hand with me, Raiden Okamoto." Flare Inhibitor said. "You know you I am?" Ray asked in shock. "Affirmative. One human does not defeat Lord Skycrusher with the aid of a Guardian Spirit without the other Civilizations hearing of it." Flare Inhibitor explained. "It's nice to have a fan, Sparky." Ray said. "I thank you. But why call me Sparky?" Flare Inhibitor asked. "Just thought I'd give you a special little nickname…if that's okay." Ray said. "Very well. I actually find the name fitting. Sparky." Flare Inhibitor, now named Sparky, said with approval. "Uh, shouldn't Ray and Jen use something opposite, like a Darkness creature?" Allie asked. "I think not. The Light Civilization represents order. And a Light creature can best impose order on that realm." Nigel said. "Help me out here, Mr. Strategy." Allie said. "That was actually a good suggestion. For you." Gabe said as he checked his phone. "For me? Really?" Allie asked in sarcasm. "Gabe has a point though. Using a Darkness creature during the day would weaken it." Kaito said. "We could do it at night." Allie muttered.
"Uh, sir? That jewelry store wasn't the Thunder Guardian's first crime. There were 3 more." Gabe said. Terry checked the phone. "Those places were hit in the last few minutes." He said. "And if my projections are correct, San Campion Jewelry Company is the next most likely target." Gabe deduced. Just then, the phone received another alert. "Oh! Make that was. It just got robbed." "Very…thorough, Gabriel. Right then, make haste, everyone." Nigel said. Everyone started to leave. "You heard him, Sparky. Let's go." Ray said. "Affirmative." Sparky said.
Later, they watched from an alley as the police inspected the crime scene. "I will investigate. You stay put." Nigel whispered sternly. Sparky tried to follow, but Ray pulled him back, shocking himself again. "Stay, Sparky." Ray whispered. "My apologies again, Raiden. First time across the Veil." Sparky apologized. "You know, Sparky, for a Light creature, you have a bit of a real dark side." Allie said. "I guess even we Light creatures have a little darkness in all of us." Sparky said. As Nigel walked past the crime scene, he pulled out a scanner. "Hmm. There is unusually strong residual mana in the area." He said, whistling to avoid suspicion with the police. Suddenly, Ray spotted something in the sky. "There it is!" He called, pointing to the Thunder Guardian as it flew over the buildings. "Sparky, we gotta go after it." He said. "Affirmative. Grab on and don't mind the shocks." Sparky said as he became see-through. Ray and Jen grabbed onto him as he started floating them up to the rooftops. Along the way, he shocked them unintentionally. "Why would the Thunder Guardian hang around the scene of crime?" Gabe asked, thinking of what the purpose was. "Yeah. It doesn't make any sense." Kaito said. "Guys, focus! Ray and Jen are airborne!" Allie whispered loudly. The kids and the Kazamas followed their flying friends through the alleys.
Meanwhile, as Ray, Jen and Sparky followed the Thunder Guardian, they saw it fly towards a couple of people. One of them was a male Caucasian with short classy chestnut hair and long sideburns, a cobra tattoo on his left arm, wearing a plaid t-shirt with the 3 top buttons undone, dog tags, a utility vest, army pants and combat boots. The other was a female African with black waist-length hair in a cornrow twist braid, a scorpion tattoo on her lower back, wearing a denim zipper halter neck vest, black cargo pants and combat boots. The man's name is Heller, and the woman's name is Calypso.
The Thunder Guardian perched itself on Heller's right arm, which had a falconry glove. "Huh. Flying kids and a see-through balloon. Now I've seen everything." Heller said. "As have I, my love. Let's dispose of them." Calypso said. Heller launched the Thunder Guardian at Ray, Jen and Sparky. The Thunder Guardian fired light pulses from its beak. "Look out!" Ray exclaimed. Sparky dodged the blasts as Ray and Jen did their best to hang on. Heller used his glove to control the Thunder Guardian perfectly as it continued trying to blast Ray, Jen and Sparky. "Sparky, we're gonna have to work together if we want to win." Jen said. "She's right. I'll steer while you blast." Ray suggested. "Affirmative. Working together would be the best option." Sparky said. The Thunder Guardian slowly started coming back around. "Quit stalling!" Heller exclaimed. "Finish them off!" Calypso exclaimed. The Thunder Guardian fired another blast. "Oh no." Sparky said as the blast hit him, making him disappear. Ray and Jen fell onto the roof. "Whatchu waiting for?! Finish them!" Heller ordered. The Thunder Guardian flew back around, blasted Ray and Jen with its blast and prepared to unleash its blinding flash. "I don't care what Nigel says. We're calling in Bob and Weave before-" Ray tried to say. "Don't look!" Miku exclaimed as she, her siblings and the kids made it onto the roof, shielding their eyes from the light. Ray and Jen watched with worry as the light hit them.
"Talk about shock and awe. Hey, that's what we should call it. Shaw K'Naw." Gabe said. "Not bad, I guess. For you." Allie said, sarcastically repeating Gabe's words from earlier. "Actually, it's a pretty fitting name." Terry said. Suddenly, the light died down. "There it goes." Gabe said. The Thunder Guardian, now being called Shaw K'Naw, flew away, following Heller and Calypso as they hopped off the roof. "We better go after them." Greta said. Just then, Ray and Jen started groaning. "Uh, I think we have bigger problems." Allie said. The kids and the Kazamas ran over to Ray and Jen as recovered from the blinding light. "Ray, Jen, did you see that?" Portia asked. "No. I…I can't see anything." Ray said. His pupils were pale white. "Neither can I." Jen said as she was the same.
Later, as the kids and the Kazamas returned to the temple, Nadia examined Ray and Jen's blindness in the medical ward. Janet got there after she finished her shift. "How're our patients?" Kimora asked as he entered. "Yes, Nadia, are my kids gonna be okay?" Janet asked with worry. "Fortunate that this was an attack on their mana, not their optic nerves. Don't worry. Their sight should return soon." Nadia assured. "Just to be sure, put this plant on your eyes every 4 hours. You'll both be back to 20-20 in no time." Kimora said as he took out a bag of plants and each put 1 over Ray and Jen's eyes. The plants moved as they oozed with liquid. "Uh, are those plants moving?" Portia asked in disgust. "Yeah, plants don't move." Allie said. "This one does." Kimora said. "Well, that's just wrong." Gabe said. "What's wrong is the fact that you didn't stay where I put you and you lost your creature in battle. Have you both learned anything from this?" Nigel said as he came in. "That the Thunder Guardian is being controlled by a couple of humans." Ray said. "2 of the Choten's minions?" Nigel asked. "No. They looked like a regular couple." Allie said. "An interracial couple. A white male and a black woman." Greta added. "And the man was wearing a falconry glove, not a tech gauntlet." Gabe said. Nigel put all this to thought. "I need more Stalker Spheres. We'll get to the bottom of this yet." He said before he and Kimora walked out.
"Getting used to this won't be easy." Ray said. "Yeah. How are we gonna find our way around until our sights return?" Jen asked. "Maybe we can find you 2 some sort of seeing-eye creature." Gabe suggested. "I'm afraid that while I would approve of that decision, if someone sees you 2 with so much as a giant spider on a leash, it may cause panic in the city." Nadia said. "What about Kenina? She could be their seeing-eye creature until their sight comes back." Maribel suggested. Nadia thought about it. "Very well. I will allow it." She said. "Um, Master? I hate to be the downer on Ray and Jen's condition, but what if you're wrong? What if Ray and Jen are like this forever?" Allie asked with worry. Ray and Jen grew worried as they heard that. "I suppose…only time will tell." Nadia said with hope.
Later that night, after they picked up Grandpa Raiden's medicine, Ray, Jen and Janet returned to their house. The kids and the Kazamas helped see them into the house. Kenina was perched on Ray's shoulder, helping to guide him. After waving goodbye to their friends, Ray and Jen closed the door. "Up next, the San Campion Museum has a new exhibit. 'Gems, Gems, and more Gems.' This collection is renowned throughout the world for its title." A man on TV announced. Ray slowly and carefully walked over to the couch where Grandpa Raiden was making an origami swan. Grandpa Raiden shut off the TV. "I was waiting up for you." He said. As Ray dropped the medicine, Grandpa Raiden caught it and set it next to him. "Sorry, Grandpa." Ray said as he walked back. "Nice catch too." Jen said. "You spend a little time in the dark, you find it's not so scary. You can find your way. Raiden, Jennifer, maybe I don't see so well anymore. Doesn't mean I cannot hear. If you 2 need to talk, I am happy to listen." Grandpa Raiden said. "Thank you, Ojī-san." Ray said. "Yeah. Thanks, Grandpa." Jen said. "Goodnight, Raiden-san." Janet said as she walked her kids back to their room. Kenina flew off Ray's shoulder and perched herself next to Grandpa Raiden, chirping at him. "It is good to see you too, old friend." Grandpa Raiden said, gently petting her head.
The next day, when they went back to the temple, the kids and the Kazamas walked their way down to Jaha's quarters. Ray and Jen were wearing sunglasses to hide their blindness. "So, we were thinking. Instead of fighting light with light, why couldn't we go with Allie's idea and use a Darkness creature?" Ray said. "You're kidding, right? I only said that yesterday." Allie said. "Hey, at least we heard you." Jen said. Just then, Jaha approached them from the shadows. "You were wise to call on me. So, I have summoned something special from the Darkness Civilization." She explained as she led the kids and the Kazamas down a tunnel. Waiting for them, was a big, smelly, trashy, bubbling mud creature called a Tarborg Mudman. "This is a Mudman. Powerful, yet easy to tame. The only thing to remember is not to touch it." Jaha explained. Ray reached out his hand and stuck it in the Mudman's body. "Especially there." Jaha said. The kids and the Kazamas felt sick. "Ray, you may wanna wash your hands." Gabe said in disgust. "Like a thousand times." Allie said, gagging. "So, what do we call this Mudman?" Greta asked. The Mudman breathed out a gas cloud, making the kids and Kazamas cough from the smelly fumes. "Right. Fumes it is." Terry said, waving off the smell. "Even when your sights return, you 2 must be able to work with darkness." Jaha explained. "Care to help me train the Tarborg?"
Later, everyone entered the training area to train Fumes. Ray and Jen walked into him due to their blindness. "You walked right into it." Jaha said. "Yeah, that'll happen when you can't see!" Ray exclaimed. "It's not a very pleasant feeling." Jen added. "That is why you must use your other senses. Hear the footsteps. Smell the air. Now you 2 do it. Take command." Jaha said, giving Ray and Jen control over Fumes. "But why do we have to command them like they're nothing, but slaves?" Jen asked. "Yeah. Why do we have to stomp and yell, boss them around? Why can't we treat them like friends?" Ray asked, accidentally controlling Fumes to throw mud balls at the kids and the Kazamas. They held each other as the mud balls hit the wall behind them. "Because they are not FRIENDS! A Duel Master controls his creature and commands it! ATTTACK!" Jaha exclaimed. Fumes sucked up all the lights in the arena, turning everything pitch-black.
Later, after Jaha and Fumes left, the kids and the Kazamas sat in the training area. "It just isn't fair. Bob, Weave and us could catch those 2 and their bird in no time." Ray said. "Yeah. It beats sitting here waiting for Jaha to take Fumes and boss him around." Jen said. "But how are we gonna find them? Wait for them to rob another jewelry store?" Maribel asked. "You know what would help? If we can find those crooks and their bird before they strike." Allie said. "That's a good idea, Allie. But I don't think there's any way it can be done." Sakura said. "I can do that." Gabe said. Everyone looked at him.
Later, the kids and the Kazamas were under a freeway bridge, hiding behind some dumpsters. "Based off the coordinates of the various robberies, and the mana fluctuation readings from Nigel's Stalker Spheres, I was able to triangulate the probable location of the perpetrators and their bird." Gabe explained. "And this is where it led you? Under the freeway?" Terry asked in disappointment. "But there's nothing here, Gabe." Allie said. Just then, Gargle hopped out of the dumpster with binocs he made from various junk and spotted Heller and Calypso getting into an RV. Shaw K'Naw was sitting in a bird cage. "Uh-oh! Bye-bye, birdy!" Gargle squeaked. "We found them, guys." Gabe said. "Tatsurion the Unchained!" Ray called. "Skarvos the Assassin!" Jen called. Bob and Weave came through the doors. "Hey, what's with the goggles?" Bob asked. "Yeah. Something wrong with your eyes?" Weave asked. "We'll tell you after we stop that truck." Ray said, pointing in the wrong direction. "You mean that one." Bob corrected. "Uh, yeah! Yeah! Just go!" Ray said as Bob and Weave picked him and Jen up. "You 2 are a little more weirder than normal today." Weave said.
As Heller and Calypso prepared to start the RV, Bob and Weave roared, getting their attention. Bob and Weave charged towards them. "Them again?" Calypso asked. "Are you kidding me?" Heller asked. They got out and released Shaw K'Naw. "Blast them!" Heller ordered. Ray and Jen could sense Shaw K'Naw coming with the Azurite. "Bob, Weave, shut your eyes!" Ray exclaimed. Too late. Shaw K'Naw flashed his light at Bob and Weave. "My eyes!" Weave cried. "Oh, crud!" Bob groaned. The kids and the Kazamas gasped as their friends ran blindly into a pillar. "They need help!" Maribel cried. "Scaradorable of Gloom Hollow!" Allie called, summoning Squeaky. "Grove Protector!" Sakura called, summoning Grove Protector. "Citizen Tokori!" Kaito called, summoning Citizen Tokori. "Haven's Elite!" Miku called, summoning Haven's Elite. "What there's more of you?" Heller asked, motioning his hand for Shaw K'Naw to attack. "Squeaky, cook that bird." Allie said. But before Squeaky could attack, Shaw K'Naw blasted her with lightning bolts from his eyes, making her disappear. Allie dropped to her knees in sadness. "I told you using a dark creature during the day wouldn't work." Gabe said. "But our creatures live for the daylight." Sakura said. "Let's go!" Kaito and Miku exclaimed as all 3 triplets simultaneously motioned their hands. Grove Protector, Citizen Tokori and Haven's Elite charged towards the enemy, but Shaw K'Naw blasted all 3 of them with a single blast, making them disappear. "Whoa. Stronger than we thought." Sakura said.
"Gargle, start building." Gabe said. "BRB." Gargle said as he hopped back into the dumpster to construct a new weapon. "We'll buy you time. Essence Elf!" Portia called, summoning Essence Elf. "Sun Clan Tortoise!" Maribel called, summoning Sun Clan Tortoise. "Alright, Elf, thorn attack!" Portia called, motioning her hands. Elf lunged her thorned vines at Shaw K'Naw, but he dodged them and blasted Elf, making her disappear. "Tortoise, defense mode, hurry!" Maribel called, motioning her hands. Tortoise got into his shell to protect his friends. But it wasn't enough as Shaw K'Naw blasted him and made him disappear too. "Gargle, we got a tight deadline!" Gabe cried. Just then, a blue light beam blew out of the dumpster. Gargle came out, armed with a homemade blaster, and started firing at Shaw K'Naw. But Shaw K'Naw dodged each shot and blasted Gargle. Allie pushed Gabe out of the way as the blast destroyed the dumpster and made Gargle disappear. "Okay, that's it. It's time to call out the big guns, G." Terry said. "Like the way you think, T." Greta said. "Terradragon Regarion Doom!" Terry called, summoning Terradragon. "Om Nom Nom!" Greta called, summoning Om Nom Nom. "Terradragon, spine attack!" Terry ordered. "Bake him, Nom Nom!" Greta exclaimed. Terradragon fired his spines from his tail and Om Nom Nom belched out a huge fireball. But Shaw K'Naw dodged each of the attacks too. "It's too fast!" Terry cried. Shaw K'Naw blasted Terradragon, making him disappear. Om Nom Nom attempted to grab him, but Shaw K'Naw dodged his hand, flew up to his face and blasted him, making him disappear too. The kids and the Kazamas looked on in disappointment as Shaw K'Naw flew back to Heller and Calypso.
Bob and Weave groaned, having gone blind from Shaw K'Naw's flash attack. "Ray, without my sight, I don't think I'll be much value in a battle." Bob said. "The same goes for me too, Jen. I can't fight good when I can't see who I'm fighting." Weave said. "I'm sorry, Bob. I shouldn't have summoned you." Ray said. "I'm sorry too, Weave. We were careless." Jen said. "You 2 will heal faster in the Creature Realm. Go rest." Ray said as he and Jen motioned their hands, sending Bob and Weave back to the Creature Realm. "Well, I guess that's it. We're out of options." Jen said. "I know. And we can't use our K-Tectors without our eyesight. What else can we do?" Ray asked as they deactivated their gauntlets. "You've done enough! Stand aside! Ra-Vu and I will handle this!" Nigel exclaimed as he and Ra-Vu charged into the fight. "This is getting to be a regular freak convention." Heller said. "Yes. Let's finish this and get out of here." Calypso said. Heller launched Shaw K'Naw once more. "Ra-Vu, attack!" Nigel ordered. Ra-Vu charged up his arms and fired his thunderbolts. But Shaw K'Naw dodged them, flew up to Ra-Vu's face and blasted him, causing an explosion that made Ra-Vu disappear. The explosion knocked Nigel down. As Shaw K'Naw flew back to them, Heller and Calypso hopped back into the RV and started it up. As Nigel recovered, he saw the RV driving towards him. The kids and the Kazamas gasped as Nigel got ran over by it.
Later, as they returned to the temple, Nigel was being treated in the medical ward by Jaha. His left eye was bandaged, his left arm was broken and his right leg too. "Far more powerful than any Thunder Guardian I've ever seen. It should not have been able to defeat Ra-Vu. And those ruffians controlling it were not 2 of the Choten's men. In all my years." Nigel ranted. "Never mind. I've trained a Darkness creature to duel this Thunder Guardian. We'll put an end to this aberration." Jaha assured, putting a comforting hand on Nigel's good hand. Nigel looked at her as she smiled at him.
Unknown to them, the kids and the Kazamas listened to everything they said. Ray and Jen walked away. "Ray, Jen, slow down. Wall, guys." Allie said as she and Sakura stopped the Okamoto Twins from walking into a wall. "We know we can fight Shaw K'Naw our way and win." Ray said as they all walked down the hallway. "Yeah. You guys think those 2 are stupid enough to hang around now that they know people are onto them?" Jen asked. "Well, statistically, criminals aren't very bright, and there is an extremely likely target. The San Campion Museum, the gem exhibit." Gabe explained. "Yeah, Grandpa was watching a show about it last night." Jen said. "We need to get there fast." Ray said. "And then what? All of our creatures have struck out." Allie said. "Not all of them." Ray said. "There's still one left." Jen said.
Meanwhile, Heller and Calypso were planning their last big score as they kept on driving. "One last score, and then we find a new city that ain't full of freaks." Heller said. "And we can finally retire and start a new life together." Calypso said. "You know it, baby. And then our kids can carry on our legacy." Heller said. "Oh, I love it when you talk like that." Calypso purred as she canoodled Heller. Just then, Shaw K'Naw started mechanically hissing. "Oh, you got an opinion? Well, let me remind you who's calling the shots." Heller said, forcing Shaw K'Naw to shut up with his glove. "That's right, birdbrain. Us." Calypso said.
Meanwhile, as Nigel and Jaha entered the training area to get Fumes, they noticed that it was empty. Fumes was gone. Just then, they saw Toji enter while polishing a plate. "Toji, where is the Tarborg?" Jaha asked. "The Kazamas and the new pupils were just practicing with it a minute ago. What's wrong?" Toji asked.
Meanwhile, the kids and the Kazamas arrived at the museum with help from the Autocons. They entered through a blast hole that was created by Shaw K'Naw and kept an eye out for trouble. The display cases had all been smashed open and ransacked. As they started to continue, Ray and Jen suddenly stopped in their tracks, feeling a mana surge in their gloves and the Azurite. "Look out!" Ray exclaimed as he and Jen shoved their friends out of the way, dodging Shaw K'Naw's blasts, and hid behind a display case. "How did you know that was coming?" Allie asked. "We sorta felt it. A mana surge." Ray said. Allie was confused. "Yeah, we don't know how it happened either." Jen said. Heller and Calypso grabbed as many gems and treasures as they could and stuffed them into 4 separate duffel bags. "Oh, not these kids again!" Calypso groaned. "Keep them busy!" Heller ordered. Shaw K'Naw started blasting at the kids and the Kazamas from a chandelier as they kept running for cover. Ray and Jen tried to move, but the kids pulled them back. "Ray, Jen, you 2 can't do this alone." Allie said. "Allie's right. You 2 can't fight alone while you're both blind." Miku said. "Any of you got a better idea?" Ray asked. "Uh, only always. We each split into 4 groups and attack from 4 sides. One of us should get through." Gabe explained. "I agree with Gabe." Allie said. Everyone looked at her in surprise. "I know. I'm surprised too." She said. "Okay, but hurry." Ray said. "We'll wait here." Jen said. The kids and the Kazamas each split in 3 groups. Gabe, Terry and Greta went right. Allie, Portia and Maribel went left. And the Kazamas ran for the back.
Gabe, Terry and Greta took cover in a hallway as Shaw K'Naw nearly blasted them. "Reef Prince Glu-urgle!" Gabe called, summoning Gargle back. "Oh, Gargle not feel so good." Gargle groaned, feeling the pain from the previous encounter with Shaw K'Naw. "I know. You took a bad hit last time. That's why we need some extra protection from those blasts." Gabe explained as Shaw K'Naw blasted the. Gargle eyed a shield on the wall and picked it up. Gabe shook his hands and gestured to a crate of gems nearby. Gargle quickly grabbed the crate and zipped back before Shaw K'Naw could blast him again. He dumped the gems onto the shield and fused them into one. "A bejeweled shield. Great thinking, Gabe." Greta said. "Guys, there's a strange glow coming from that guy's falconry glove." Terry said, noticing a familiar glow from Heller's glove. "Guys, they do have a gauntlet!" Gabe called. "We gotta get it off him. Frogzooka!" Terry called, summoning Frogzooka. "Jetflame Lizard!" Greta called, summoning Jetflame Lizard. Terry and Greta motioned their hands as Frogzooka started firing from his head-cannon and Jetflame started breathing fire. But Shaw K'Naw flew in the way and fired another pulse blast, blowing through the other 2 attacks and hitting Frogzooka and Jetflame, making them disappear.
"Scaradorable of Gloom Hollow!" Allie called. But Squeaky didn't come through the door. "Come on, Squeaky." Allie said with worry. "Where is she?" Portia asked. "Allie, Squeaky's more powerful than Gargle. She probably needs a little more time to regenerate her mana. Pick another creature!" Gabe called. "Oh, I know. Skull Cutter!" Allie called, summoning Skull Cutter, who leapt into her arms to hug her. "Oh, I'm glad to see you too, Skull Cutter." She said with baby-talk. "Now charge!" Skull Cutter charged towards Heller and Calypso. But as he leapt for them, Shaw K'Naw grabbed him with his tail, flung him up and blasted him, making him disappear. "Oh, not again!" Allie cried. "Don't worry, Allie. We'll get them for you." Maribel said. "Buoyant Blowfish!" Portia called, summoning Buoyant Blowfish. "Scrapheap Hunter!" Maribel called, summoning Scrapheap Hunter.
"Allison." A female voice called. Allie looked around, but there wasn't anyone else. "Allison." The voice called again. Allie followed the voice into another hallway. "That voice…could it be?" She asked herself. "That I am." The voice said. "Where are you?" Allie asked. "That bookcase in front of you. Pull the book 4th in the center." The voice said. Allie walked up to the bookcase and pulled the correct book. Just then, the bookcase opened a secret doorway. Allie walked through it and saw something that made her gasp in surprise. A Guardian Spirit shrine. It had a symbol of a heavenly sun. As Allie raised her hand, the symbol started to glow and a light purple and dark violet K-Tector appeared in her hand. The heavenly sun glowed brighter before it shattered and released a spirit in the form of a beautiful angel with big, beautiful, golden wings and wearing a blindfold. "Welcome, Allison Underhill. I am Araqiel, the Heavenly Angel." The spirit, named Araqiel, introduced. "It's nice to meet you. You are so beautiful." Allie said in awe. "I thank you." Araqiel said. "So, does this mean what I think it does?" Allie asked, holding up her new K-Tector. "Yes. Now it is time for you to receive an extraordinary power to help you and your friends defeat your enemy." Araqiel said. Allie held out her K-Tector and Araqiel's spirit was transferred into it, powering it up. "Let's hope this will help Ray and Jen." Allie said. "It will, Allison. You know what to do." Araqiel's voice said. "Execute! Guardian Spirit Evolution!" Allie called. She glowed with mana and underwent her first transformation into Araqiel.
Meanwhile, Shaw K'Naw threw Scrapheap Hunter into Blowfish and blasted them both, making them disappear. "Ray, Jen, it's up to you now!" Maribel called. Fumes tapped Ray and Jen on their backs. "Okay, Fumes, it's you and us." Ray said. "Time for a little teamwork." Jen said. They hopped into Fumes' back and sank into his body. "Oh, gross!" Portia exclaimed in disgust. As Ray and Jen sank into Fumes' body, 2 air bubbles formed around their heads, allowing them to breathe. Just then, they noticed something. They could see exactly what Fumes was seeing. "Hey, Fumes, we can see what you see." Ray said. "Even though we can't see." Jen said. "Indeed. By becoming one with the Mudman, you both have been granted the ability to share his sights." Araqiel said as she flew up and stood next to them. "No way. Another Guardian Spirit?" Jen asked in shock and awe. "Yes. I am Araqiel. And I know who you 2 are, partners of Heatfroster and Lunaressa. We will speak later. Right now, we must win this fight." Araqiel said. "Right. Let's do this." Ray said. Moving as one, Ray, Jen and Fumes absorbed all the lights in the museum. Shaw K'Naw tried to escape the darkness, but it consumed him. Not seeing where he was going, he flew head-first into the chandelier and knocked himself down. As he fell to the floor, he accidently fired his blast at Heller and Calypso. Heller blocked the attack with a mana shield, causing the falconry glove to be torn apart.
Ray and Jen gasped as Heller was revealed to have been wearing a Choten tech gauntlet all along. "Tear this place down!" Heller exclaimed. Shaw K'Naw fired his blast at the ceiling, causing it to crumble and fall. "Look out!" Araqiel exclaimed as she flew over Ray, Jen and Fumes when the rubble fell on top of them. The kids, the Kazamas and Gargle gasped in horror. But then, Araqiel freed them, having created a shield of pure light to protect them. "Okay, Mister, what's you and your girlfriend's story? Were you a Duel Master? Do you 2 work for the Choten?" Ray asked. "We don't know what you're talking about." Heller said. "Yes, you're speaking gibberish." Calypso said. "Then how did you 2 get that?" Jen asked, gesturing to the gauntlet. "One night, we saw some goons using gloves like this in an alley." Heller started to explain. "They were using them to summon these strange giant worms and using them to burrow underground." Calypso added. "So, we appropriated this from their truck and tried it on. Managed to snag dodo bird here through some hole in the air. Turns out we got a knack for controlling this stupid thing." Heller explained. "Yes. He does exactly what we say with just a flick of the gloved wrist." Calypso said. "Light creatures would never do any of this by choice." Araqiel said venomously. "Yeah. You're forcing him to commit crimes for you 2." Ray said. "Oh, yeah. You mean like…this!" Heller exclaimed, motioning his hands as Shaw K'Naw fired another blast.
"Ray, Jen, catch!" Gabe called, tossing his bejeweled shield to the Okamoto Twins. They caught it and deflected the blast, knocking Heller down. "Babe!" Calypso cried with worry. Suddenly, she found herself face to face with Araqiel who grabbed her by the vest and held her up. "You misuse a creature's gifts to commit petty crimes. You must be punished. Look into my eyes and see the light." Araqiel said, taking off her blindfold and revealing her eyes. Calypso screamed in terror and pain as the light in Araqiel's eyes shined brightly in her face. She held her eyes as Araqiel dropped her and put her blindfold back on. "The first threat has been neutralized." Araqiel said. "Great. Now let's get that gauntlet off him before anyone else gets hurt." Ray said. "Right with you, bro." Jen said. They motioned their hands and Fumes spat a glob of acid at the gauntlet. Heller grunted in pain as the gauntlet began to short out. He took it off, threw it on the floor and stomped on it. But then, he noticed a certain glare Shaw K'Naw was giving him. Realizing that he just severed his own control over the Thunder Guardian, he smiled sheepishly. Shaw K'Naw flew up to him and shoved him down the stairs. As he flew down and landed on Heller, preparing to finish him, Ray, Jen, Fumes and Araqiel walked up to them. "Revenge is not the way of the light. You're better than that." Ray said. "Ray's right. You have a chance to forgive and forget." Jen said. Shaw K'Naw looked at them for a second, thought about what they said and decided to spare Heller's life.
Ray and Jen climbed down from Fumes, walked up the stairs to retrieve the gauntlet and walked back down. Shaw K'Naw hissed, thinking they were going to use it on him again. "We're just going to send you home." Ray said. "Yeah. We're not all bullies." Jen said. Shaw K'Naw stood down, believing them. Everyone watched as Ray and Jen sent Shaw K'Naw back home. "Bravo, Raiden and Jennifer. You 2 truly have very honorable hearts." Araqiel said. "Yeah, but Jaha and Nigel won't be happy with how you handled that." Gabe said. "Couldn't see another way to do it." Ray said. "Blind guy jokes? Really?" Portia asked. "No. Actually, we can see again." Ray said. "Yeah. I guess mud baths are good for you. Especially for the eyes." Jen said. The kids and the Kazamas cringed at the smell Fumes left. "Not as good as a real bath will be. For you. And us." Gabe said. Ray and Jen shrugged. Suddenly, Heller tried to escape while carrying Calypso bridal style. Ray and Jen motioned their hands, and Fumes fired a gas cloud from his mouth, knocking Heller down. "We'll let the police find them. Thanks, Fumes." Ray said. "Yeah. Despite it being gross, we hope to work with you again someday." Jen said. As they motioned their hands, Fumes waved goodbye before he was sent home. Afterwards, Araqiel transformed back into Allie. "Whoa. Does transforming into a Guardian Spirit always feel like this for you 2?" Allie asked. "A little, but you'll get used to it." Ray assured.
Later, the kids and the Kazamas reported back to the Masters. "Sir, we understand how important it is to learn the ways of the Duel Masters. Your methods have served the temple well for generations. But we can't help it." Ray said. "Yes. When we work with creatures, kindness and friendship just feel right to us." Jen said. "I admit your approach did achieve a favorable outcome. This time. But that does not change the facts." Nigel said. "Including the fact that you took the Tarborg without permission and…bonded with it in a particularly nauseating way." Jaha added. "We cannot have one set of rules for some and another set for you." Nigel said. "Since you clearly enjoy your close proximity with these creatures, you will spend the next week mucking out their stables." Jaha said. The kids and the Kazamas looked at each other.
Meanwhile, Heller and Calypso slept in their jail cell. Calypso wore a blindfold after Araqiel's attack gave her temporary blindness. Suddenly, a portal opened inside their cell. Heller and Calypso jolted awake from the sound. "Good morning, Mr. Heller and Mrs. Calypso." A familiar voice greeted. Heller and Calypso held each other in fear as they looked at the man that entered their cell through the portal. The Choten. "Who is that?" Calypso asked due to her blindness as she can't see the Choten. "Do we know you?" Heller asked. "No, but I know you. You both took my newest tech gauntlet prototype and used it to control a powerful and dangerous creature. And what did you 2 do with this gift? You stole things. Mr. Heller, Mrs. Calypso, you are disappointing, greedy people." Choten said. "What're you gonna do to us?" Calypso asked with worry. "I'm going to offer you 2 a job." Choten said. Heller and Calypso were stunned by this.
Wow. That was one of my favorite episodes. A Light Civilization Thunder Guardian had somehow breached the Veil and was stealing gems. After learning that the Thunder Guardian, which they nicknamed Shaw K'Naw, was being controlled by a criminal couple, Heller and Calypso, as Ray and Jen tried to stop them, they became blinded by Shaw K'Naw. After Nigel got injured by them, Ray and Jen commandeered a Darkness Civilization Tarborg, Mudman Fumes, and went with their team to the museum. But as the others lose their creatures, Allie discovered a Guardian Spirit Shrine and acquired her own Guardian Spirit, Araqiel, the Heavenly Angel. Together, Ray, Jen, Fumes and Araqiel temporarily blinded Calypso and broke Heller's control over Shaw K'Naw. But after they were arrested, Heller and Calypso were visited by the Choten, who offered them jobs. But will there be other Guardian Spirits for the team to discover? Will the Choten's forces continue to grow? Leave a review if you'd like.
