Chapter 12: Dangers of Thunder
The Choten paced back and forth in his lair, waiting for an important call. It had been a few hours since he had ordered an expedition team be sent into the mountains. When he had Glasses follow Ray to Heatfroster's shrine, she provided him with an energy reading that could detect the energy from a Guardian Spirit shrine in a certain radius. He detected the same readings coming from the mountains. "You are certain that Glasses' scanner detected the readings inside that mountain, Lord Choten?" Saanvi asked. "Positive. She gave me the readings herself after the boy transformed into Heatfroster." Choten said. "But what if her readings were incorrect sir?" Alakshmi asked. "No. I would know if the readings were incorrect, my dear." Choten said.
Just then, a guard finally called him. "Sir, we have located the target." The guard said. He showed them the team hauling out the target. A Guardian Spirit shrine. "Excellent. Bring it to me at once. Very soon, this Guardian Spirit will be my new servant." Choten said.

Meanwhile, in the temple library, Master Nadia was helping the kids educate themselves on creatures by reading their tablets. "Now remember, pupils, if one of your usual creatures is unavailable for battle, you must learn about what other creatures can do. For their powers may also save your life one day." She explained. Just then, as the kids read their given tablets, Ray, Jen and Allie felt their pockets vibrating. They took out their K-Tectors, revealing that they were vibrating. "What's going on with our K-Tectors?" Allie asked. "There's trouble." Heatfroster said, letting everyone hear. "What kind of trouble, Heatfroster?" Ray asked. "One of our shrines has been discovered, disturbed and taken by the enemy." Heatfroster said. "Where?" Ray asked. His K-Tector opened up a map of the area, showing the location of the shrine's signal.
"I recognize the route the signal's moving on. It's just outside the city." Gabe said. "And the dangers of what could happen if the Choten gets his hands on that shrine. You kids better get out there and stop them." Nadia said. "Thank you, Master Nadia." Ray said. As he and the kids ran out of the library, he dialed his phone. "Landslide, we need a ride. We'll provide you with the coordinates." He said. "Roger that, Ray. We're on our way." Landslide said through the phone.
Later, as the Autocons picked up the kids, Ray gave Landslide the coordinates as they started driving. "Okay, explain to me why this is so important?" Landslide asked, driving through the city streets with Brakeline and Particle trailing behind. "Simple. That shrine contains the spirit of one of my fellow Guardian Spirits. While I don't know who, I do know that this shrine cannot end up in the Choten's hands." Heatfroster said aloud. "Ah, I understand." Landslide said. "Anyway, how far is the shrine?" Ray asked. His K-Tector opened up the map and showed them how far they were to catching the shrine. "Ah, not to worry. I can make it there in double time." Landslide said as he, Brakeline and Particle picked up speed.
Later, the Choten truck that was transporting the shrine was about an hour's drive away from San Campion. But then, the driver saw 3 vehicles blocking the road up ahead. He stopped the truck and honked at the 3 vehicles. "Hey, get out of the road!" He exclaimed. But the vehicles didn't respond. He got out of the truck and walked over to the vehicles. "Alright, come on out of there, bucko!" He exclaimed. Just then, as Landslide opened his door, Squeaky leapt out of him and pounced onto the driver. The driver screamed as the Scaradorable snarled at him. As the other minions ran out of the truck and rushed over, the kids exited Landslide. "Tatsurion the Unchained!" Ray called. "Skarvos the Assassin!" Jen called. 2 portals opened, and Bob and Weave came through. "Finally, a little action." Weave said, cracking his knuckles. "Let's get rough!" Bob roared. As the 2 hybrids started fighting the minions, Gabe summoned Gargle and they snuck their way towards the back of the truck. "Okay, Gargle, think you can pick this lock?" Gabe whispered. "Lock picker. Break and enter for good cause." Gargle said. He extended one of his fingers and stuck it inside the lock. After fiddling with it, he finally picked the lock and opened the truck. And there it was, the Guardian Spirit shrine, with the symbol of a thundercloud with a thunderbolt, chained up in the back of the truck. Gabe and Gargle were in awe at the sight of it. "Guardian Spirit shrine. Further examination required." Gargle said as he hopped inside. "My thoughts exactly, Gargle. But after we get it out of this truck." Gabe said as he followed.
But then, one of the minions, scared out of his wits, got back into the truck and started driving off the road. "Ray!" Gabe cried. Ray gasped as he saw Gabe and Gargle in the back of the truck with the shrine. "Everyone, back on Landslide! We have to go after that truck and rescue Gabe and Gargle along with the shrine!" He ordered. The kids climbed inside Landslide as Bob and Weave climbed onto his roof. The Autocons drove after the wayward truck as it made its way back onto the road.
Meanwhile, Gabe and Gargle grew worried as the truck continued towards the city. "Danger! Danger! Termination program nigh!" Gargle cried. "I know, Gargle. I'm scared too." Gabe said. "Do not be afraid, my friend. Remain calm." A voice said. Gabe turned towards the shrine in shock, realizing that the Guardian Spirit was speaking to him. "My name is Gedum, the Thunder Fighter and one of the greatest fighters of the Guardian Spirits. I sense bravery inside you, Gabriel Wallace, as well as your great wisdom. Together, we can help each other get out of this danger." Gedum said. Just then, Gabe noticed a glow in his right hand. He looked at it and saw an electric blue and pale blue K-Tector. The seal on the shrine shattered, releasing Gedum's spirit in the form of a light blue humanoid with a storm cloud on his waist instead of legs. "Now, let us become one and free ourselves from this foul imprisonment." Gedum said as he entered Gabe's K-Tector, powering it up. Gabe nodded, knowing what he had to do. "Execute! Guardian Spirit Evolution!" He called. His body glowed with mana as he transformed into Gedum.
As the Autocons finally caught up with the truck, Gedum flew out of the back and headed for the front. "Who was that?" Landslide asked. "That was my old friend, Gedum." Heatfroster said aloud. "Gabe." Ray and Jen realized. As the minion continued driving, he felt the hair on his arm starting to stand on end. "What the? Static?" He asked. He looked out the window and saw Gedum glaring at him. "Uh oh." He said. Gedum raised his hands and thunder clouds started forming in the sky. Everyone was in awe as they watched this. With a shout, Gedum motioned his hands and fired a thunderbolt at the truck. As the thunder struck it, the truck flipped onto its back and crashed in the street. As the minion managed to crawl out of the truck, he looked up and saw Gedum, the kids and their creatures glaring down at him. "Go back to your master with this warning. Never disturb another shrine's resting place again." Gedum warned. With that warning, the minion ran off. As the kids rushed over to the back of the truck, but they saw that the shrine was gone. "The shrine's gone!" Ray exclaimed. "Do not fret, Raiden Okamoto. The shrine has been returned to its rightful place." Gedum said. "Gedum is right. Whenever a shrine is taken from its resting place, it can magically teleport back to it." Heatfroster said. Gedum transformed back into Gabe, who felt dizzy from the experience. "That was slightly unpleasant, but also very invigorating." He said. "Don't worry, Gabe. You'll get used to it." Ray said as the kids walked back into Landslide.
Meanwhile, the Choten watched in disappointment through the truck's security at what happened. "Why am I not surprised that those kiddies would show up. Allow me to intercept them." Alakshmi said. "No need, Alakshmi. It is just a minor snafu. The children may have another Guardian Spirit, it is all for naught. Very soon, I will have the power I rightfully deserve." Choten said.
Later, the kids returned to the temple and reported their mission's success to Nadia. "Excellent work, acolytes. Not only did you foil the Choten's plans for the shrine, you also obtained another new Guardian Spirit ally." Nadia said. "Thank you, Master. I get the feeling that Gedum and I are gonna get along together, just like I do with Gargle." Gabe said. "Master, now that our mission was a success, could we pick up where we left off with our lesson?" Ray asked. "I believe that can be arranged, Ray." Nadia said with a smile. So, the kids went back to their assigned tablets and continued where Nadia left off with their lesson.
Meanwhile, a ship was approaching the San Campion port. Standing at the front of the ship was a young white male teen with crimson hair, wearing a black track suit jacket, periwinkle pants and black shoes. He brought out his phone and dialed a number, revealing to be wearing a crimson tech gauntlet. "Yes?" Choten's voice greeted. "Lord Choten, this is Silver. I'm almost to the city's port." The teen, named Silver, said. "Good. I await your arrival, my old agent. We have much to discuss." Choten said. "I know. I'll be there soon." Silver said with a sinister smile as he ended the call.
Well, that was interesting, huh? The Choten's minions located the resting place of a Guardian Spirit Shrine. But luckily, the kids' K-Tectors were able to help them locate the van transporting it and Gabe has obtained his own Guardian Spirit, Gedum, the Thunder Fighter. But who is this Silver guy who was arriving in San Campion? What will the team be up against next? Leave a review if you'd like.
