Summary: Cody apologizes for leaving a certain goth's hand in the sun. Now, he must face the consequences.
Ship: Cody x Gwen
Cody has seen better days.
Of course, his team won the challenge on Chris's whim, yay! But at the expense of Duncan getting back into the game.
That punk, sexist bastard! What do women see in him?
He wanted to believe that nothing would change, but he felt that Gwen would fall into Duncan's temptation sooner or later.
With every look she gave him, every conversation they had, it became more obvious to everyone except the two of them (and Courtney).
I hope Sierra isn't in first class. I wanted to eat something and go to sleep now, the geek thought.
As he headed to first class, one thing caught his attention: the door to the confessional appeared to have been broken open. And someone was inside.
Deciding it would be best to warn anyone before anyone gets caught in any embarrassing manner, Cody approached the door, listening to part of the confessional.
I don't know how everybody else can sleep. Especially Courtney. I'm still fuzzy, like I drank too much coffee, you know? Because we won, and Duncan's back, and he missed...us.
Gwen!?
Cody's eyes widened. It was proof he had that there was something between the two.
Even though the boy's mind was more paranoid than reality, he gathered all the courage he had to avoid the worst outcome he could imagine.
"G-Gwen! Hello there!" The geek nervously greeted her.
"What? Was the door open this whole time?" The goth jumped a little at the possibility of someone eavesdropping her.
"I afraid so. The locker's busted." Cody said, pointing to the hinge.
"Thanks, I wouldn't know what to do if someone invaded my privacy," She touched his shoulder, forgetting that her hand was still injured, "OUCH!"
"Is your hand feeling better?" The tooth gaped boy asked, cringing a little when he saw her hand.
"Not much. Even with that bird poop Courtney give me still hurts! I wonder how I managed to get a sunburn..." She touched her chin as if trying to remember the incident.
Knowing that one day, the cat would be out of the bag, Cody decided to get ahead of himself. But first, time to dissuade her.
"Forgive me, but I couldn't help but listen to what you just said about yourself, Court and...Duncan. I think you should cut ties with him." Cody spoke sharply, although reticent.
Gwen quickly glared at him, "Excuse me?"
"Look, This isn't because I like you (although I still like you), it's because you know how Courtney will feel about this." The geek tried to justify himself, feeling that he could be beaten right then and there if he used the wrong words.
"Fell about what, exactly?" She was now staring at him angrily but waiting for an answer.
He swallowed hard. No time to chicken out.
...about your crush on Duncan
Gwen's eyes widened, and she put her hand over her mouth. Her knees shook, and a desire to disappear from that plane overtook her. She quickly grabbed Cody by his shirt and pinned him against the cabin window.
"I'll cut the chase: you shouldn't be here. If you say a single word to her, I will lock you and Sierra in the cargo area and release you only after you satisfy her desires. All desires." Cody was sure Gwen wasn't exaggerating when she threatened him.
"I'm only telling you because you know how she acts when something involves Duncan. If you stay with him, you will be kicked out the first time we lose a challenge." He begged, sweat dripping from his forehead.
She pressed him against the window again before sighing and letting him free.
"I hate it when you're right. Any bright ideas?" Gwen looked at him, looking for an opinion.
He scratched his neck, indecisive, "Why not just forget Duncan? At least until the season ends?"
The loner clicked her tongue, "You would not understand. He feels suffocated by her. Courtney is a controlling girlfriend of the worst kind."
"Yet another reason to stay the hell away from him! She would come at you like a raging bull!" Cody countered.
"Just give me a second to think, okay? Ugh!" She sat on the toilet, her hands massaging her temples.
Cody sat on the toilet with Gwen. It was a little tight but both few minded that.
"Look, I know how you feel. Believe it or not, I once had a girlfriend." He began to speak, avoiding looking at the other.
"Really?" The goth was surprised by the statement.
"Yeah. We met at a party, and it clicked instantly. We started going out after that. Everything seemed perfect until I found out she was a friend of mine's girlfriend." His voice shrivelled a little as he remembered the painful memory.
Gwen arched her eyebrow, listening to where the story was heading.
"Turns out she was cheating on him just to make him jealous. And I knew that because she said it to my face." He now spoke with some anger. He never forgave her for ruining their friendship and giving him false hope.
Gwen decided to believe the story, finding the development that Cody suffered brutally.
He was now eye to eye with Gwen, focused on expressing his opinion clearly, "I just don't want Duncan to use you like she used me...you don't know how he truly feels about you. Of course, you may have a lot of hobbies in common, but there is no guarantee that a relationship between you will last or be better than the one he has with Courtney today."
The goth crossed her arms, but this time with a defeated look. Cody really left her speechless.
"Perhaps I'll stop looking for something with him. You're right that just because your hobbies match doesn't mean the relationship will work." She spoke, remembering herself and Trent. To this day, she resents how she handled his OCD story.
A smile emerged on Cody's face.
"But don't worry, there's plenty of fish to catch out there. Some more gothic and others...not so much." He gave her a sheepish grin.
She smiled, too. Perhaps she would have made decisions in the heat of the moment if it weren't for that conversation.
"When did you become a relationship expert, huh?" She teased, hitting his arm.
"Once a Codemeister, always a Codemeister." He joked.
Cody was getting ready to leave when he felt something warm on his cheek. When he looked, it was Gwen's lips.
Before he could scream with joy, she covered his mouth with her good hand.
Just a little reward for being a good friend. Don't get used to it!
"Curse! Double curses! My ultimate plan has failed!" Chris shook his fist, seeing that Cody and not Duncan found Gwen in the confessional.
He quickly switched the camera, looking at a sleepy Duncan in economy class, "But it does not matter. I will have a new chance in Italy. And again, in Sweden. And once again in Area 51. As many times as it takes until these two kiss!"
He changed the camera again, noting that Cody had already gone to sleep in first class. He slowly started to rub his hands together in a mischievous tone. "And Cody...I will prepare some surprises for you. Hehe. Hihi. Haha. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA"
The evil laugh was interrupted after Chef slapped him on the head.
"Quiet! I need sleep!" The black man barked.
Cody had his best night's sleep since the season started.
He should thank whoever broke down that door later.
But he still forgot to say something to Gwen. What would it be?
Cute ship. Unfortunately, in a platonic way.
Next Chapter: Tyler accidentally overhears one of Alejandro's plans. Now, he owes a debt to him.
