One year later…
The phone started to ring at the Law Office of Nathan Grant in Hope Valley. Nathan was working on a brief when he looked at his watch. He needed to get going or he would be late.
There was a knock on the door. Nathan looked up. It was his secretary.
"Mr. Dawn is on the phone. He would like to speak with you." His secretary said.
"Mr. Dawn? He's a big client." Nathan said.
His secretary nodded her head.
Nathan looked at his watch. He smiled.
"I will call him tomorrow." Nathan said.
His secretary relayed that message to him.
"He is threatening to leave." His secretary said.
Nathan took the phone.
"Mr. Dawn. You are delaying me from getting home. But you are welcome to cease my services. Just know that if you do, you won't find a lawyer within thirty miles who can get you a fair price for your land." Nathan said.
Nathan listened and nodded his head.
"I look forward to talking to you more about this tomorrow." Nathan said. Nathan gave the phone back to his secretary.
"He'll be calling in at 9 tomorrow. Please put that on my schedule. Nathan looked at his watch.
"I've got to go. Have a good night." Nathan said.
Nathan went outside and mounted Newton and rode off home.
When Nathan arrived home, he called for anyone in the house. There was no one there. They must be all outside. Nathan quickly changed out of his suit into his suspenders.
As Nathan has suspected, everyone was outside in the barn. When Nathan arrived back with Allie and Elizabeth, the town had surprised him with a big barn. It was two stories. It served as his wedding venue for himself and Elizabeth.
"Daddy!" Jack said running toward him.
Nathan bent down and picked him up.
"How is my little partner?" Nathan asked.
"Missed you." Jack said.
"I missed you too." Nathan said giving him a kiss on the cheek.
As he was walking toward the barn, he saw his beautiful wife.
They kissed.
"You look beautiful." Nathan said.
"I look terrible." Elizabeth said.
"You have that pregnancy glow." Nathan said.
Elizabeth rolled his eyes. He put Jack down and kissed Elizabeth's small bump.
"Daddy's home." Nathan said. Elizabeth giggled.
"Come on dad!" Allie shouted.
"I'm coming!" Nathan said. During the wedding ceremony, there was an adoption ceremony where Elizabeth and Nathan adopted Allie and Nathan adopted Jack as his son.
Nathan walked into his barn. There were a few students from Elizabeth's class in there too.
Everyone took their seat and Nathan went to the front of them.
"Now last time we left off, I was teaching you how to argue a rebuttal." Nathan said. On the chalkboard behind him, "Jack Thornton School Debate Club" was written on the board.
Nathan looked over to Elizabeth was smiling. He smiled back at her. He had found his home.
