Leveling up

AN: Hello, I am back with a new chapter and like I said in the previous chapter, I am going to mention some things related to how I am going to write this story. Most of them are obvious, but let me list them.

Inner thoughts in italics: "Thinking"

Normal conversation: "Normal talking"

Magic, System, Others: {In bracket} or "Bold writing"

Also, depending on how it goes I will be setting up polls that will affect the story but we are not there yet so, for now this is pretty much it, and another important change is that Ye Xiu age was mentioned to be 27 in the previous chapter and yes, his age at the end of the series was 28. But, I changed that to 24 and this story starts 3 years after 'the end of series'. Anyways that is all for now, enjoy.

In a dim room, we can see rays of sunlight piercing through the curtains and illuminating it as the sun was already rising. The room slowly became brighter, its occupants were getting clearer and one of them appeared to be a young man who was lying on the bed with a spear right beside him as he slept. Yet, as the man looked like he was enjoying his sleep, it was disturbed by a knocking at his door which, along with the sun that was penetrating his eyelids, forced him to groggily open his eyes while putting his hand in front of his face as if to block the sun's rays from doing anymore harm.

As he slowly got up, he heard knocking on his door again, but this time the person outside spoke up, " Sir Spear Hero, I apologize for the disturbance but, the breakfast banquet is ready, and I have come to tell you that you will have a meeting with his majesty after. And also, we have taken the liberty of putting some clean clothes at the foot of the bed if you want to change. Now if you will excuse me Sir Spear Hero, I have to go somewhere else to do my duties but, if you have any questions or requests there is a maid outside, who shall also guide you to the banquet hall once more."

Satisfied that she had delivered the message, the maid turned and left the door, the sound of her footsteps got fainter until they disappeared. Ye Xiu, hearing that, went to the bathroom and made himself proper for the day. After that he looked around and saw the pile of cloth that was lying on a bench. As he went and picked them up, he noticed that the fabric was quite different from what he wore, and although it actually felt comfortable to touch he was still not used to all the changes that had happened and decided it was better for him to be in his previous clothing. Ever since he started exercising, his attire had consisted of a black and red sportswear which fit him quite snugly. Just as he was about to leave, he checked his status once more,

{Status}

Ye Xiu, Lv.1

Legendary Spear Hero

{HP: 100}

{MP: 100}

{SP: 100}{10}

{Atk: 10}{2} {M.Atk: 6} {Def: 1} {M.Def: 1} {Agi: 6}{2}

When he saw it a look of surprise appeared on his face. "What the heck happened to my stats? They weren't like this yesterday." He got confused at some of the changes that were clearly not there previously. And while, he was investigating, he started muttering some of his thoughts out loud subconsciously and then,

{Notice}{Help}

{Every creature starts with 0 stats. But as they get exposed to the environment, any of their stats could change. As holder of the 'Legendary Spear Hero' your stats are oriented towards attack powers and agility. And the reason your stats are different than before is because the system was taking your body's previous condition into account. Now that the host is aware, it will be permanently added to the initial value and will be done so in the future without further notice.}

By the time the system was finished explaining, Ye Xiu had a surprised look on his face. The room descended into silence, as Ye Xiu considered the many implications of what had just happened. "So, the system is sentient, well actually it's more reactive than anything but even still, this changes everything." Unlike yesterday, Ye Xiu was no longer tired and more alert. So, he went over every feature of the interface, getting more and more impressed each time he discovered something new.

Now finished analyzing the system, he came across a lot of conclusions. "Okay, I think I am familiar with the majority of the things here, although I might have missed some of the nuances, for now it's enough. Now let me recap what I know. First, the {Main Menu} displays my general status, while also displaying the rest of the control features. Secondly, the controls. They consist of: {Status} {Item} {Magic} {Skill} {Recipe} {Party} {Contract}& {Help}. All of them dealt with different things but most of their functions were pretty obvious. For example, {Status}: this gives him a more detailed outlook of his stats. This includes any changes that happen to him, which explains why he had a different stats than that of which he had yesterday. Although, hopefully it won't take as long to update. Next is, {Item}: its function is basically how you would expect an 'inventory' to work. Although some of its concepts are different, there aren't any dramatic changes, it also shows the items he possesses and their info. Then, we have, {Magic}: he wasn't sure exactly what it did but, from his past experience as a player he can assume it's the equivalent of a mage's spell deck. Although it appears to be blank, Ye Xiu can assume that there shouldn't be any restriction in the future if he wants to add to the list. {Skill}: it's basically, like a physical based version of {Magic}, at least for now that's what he could assume. {Recipe}: this one also seems to base its function according to its name. And while, like the previous two it appeared blank he guessed that it's meant for recording; potion recipes, weapon blueprints, etc. And the next two look like they have the same purpose but, apparently, they are quite different. In the case of, {Party}: it allows him to form a party with someone else, which then allows them to share experience, teleport together and other benefits. While {Contract}: is actually similar but, it takes a different approach. Apparently, in this new world there exists a multitude of beasts and other creatures quite different from humans. And if he wanted to, he could create a 'contract' with the other party but, unlike the {Party} function the conditions for this 'contract' is quite strict towards the other party. And finally, the last function seems pretty obvious but, {Help} basically gives him hints about how the system works, and also certain aspects of the world he was in. Also, it records past discoveries, as to allow revision if the need arises."

As Ye Xiu was thinking about the game system setup of this world he was again interrupted by a door knocking. Annoyed by being disturbed by the same noise, he went to open the door with a frown on his face. When the door is opened, the perpetrator is actually found to be a maid, who now seeing the upset look on the hero's face made her flustered, unable to remember the reason she knocked from the start. Ye Xiu, though seeing the maid, suddenly remembered that he had an appointment with the king and that he shouldn't keep him waiting too long.

He then apologized to the maid and asked her gently where the breakfast was being served. Hearing this the maid was relieved, and quickly started heading in a direction after a while, they arrived at their destination. Following that Ye Xiu had a sumptuous breakfast, even though he was still getting used to the foreign tastes, finishing up he once more called the previous maid to guide him to the previous place where he interacted with the king, which was actually called the 'throne hall or royal hall'.

They soon came across a familiar set of doors, which opened automatically exactly like last time. Now familiar with how it looked, Ye Xiu didn't spend any time observing the hall and just approached the end of the hall. And just like last time, the king along with the princess and advisor were situated around the thrones with King Aultcare being the only one sat.

"Good morning, Sir Ye Xiu, I hope you had a good rest and enjoyed the breakfast, sorry I couldn't join but we had to get a couple of things ready for your upcoming adventure." King Aultcare spoke with a jovial tone. In response to that Ye Xiu nodded and said that he had indeed enjoyed his rest and of course breakfast. Done with their pleasantries, the king spoke now with a slightly more serious tone, "So, Sir Ye Xiu shall we discuss how you are going to develop and also get ready for the upcoming wave, which is only a month away from now?"

Ye Xiu, hearing this formed a thoughtful expression on his face as he thought about what he should do first. After thinking for a while, Ye Xiu answered, "King Aultcare, as you can probably guess I come from a world quite different from yours and while I had some time to rest, there is still a lot of things I have to get used to and also, a large amount of information that can help me going forth on."

King Aultcare, hearing this wasn't annoyed at the young hero in front of him for not rushing to go fight monsters immediately, instead he was quite satisfied for having a mindful and farsighted person as the hero of his nation. "This will help us in the future if we can have a reasonable hero, but we must make sure that he isn't influenced by the wrong people." The king further thought while also nodding internally.

Coming to a conclusion, King Aultcare spoke up, this time out loud, "I couldn't agree more Sir Ye Xiu. Please have no worries, we will support you without any reservation so, if you have any requests, we will do what we can to fulfill them. But I must mention that while we are happy about aiding you, it is recommended for adventurers to travel and gain experience, as staying in one place is not conductive to one's growth and I assume this applies even more for you as you have visit other dragon hourglasses and also get various materials to boost your weapon's growth."

Hearing the king reply, Ye Xiu internally let out a relieved sigh, grateful that he wouldn't meet an obstacle in the first step of his plan. But Ye Xiu reminded himself that he couldn't get careless and that he should take advantage of what he has right now as much as possible. Done with his internal debate he took a deep breath before speaking, "I am glad to hear that, and for now I would like to ask for access to all information regarding my surrounding area."

Hearing the request, the king slightly waved his hand and the man that had been standing to his side came slightly forward, the man then made a bow in front of Ye Xiu and introduced himself. "Good morning Sir Spear Hero, I am the advisor of the king, and I am humbled to be in your presence." The now identified advisor spoke with a sleek tone.

Ye Xiu nodded in acknowledgement, knowing that this was a formality, and he should probably get used to it at least for now. Seeing this, the advisor slowly rose up and stood with a straight back before taking out a scroll from somewhere. He then unfurled the scroll and started reading its contents. "By royal decree, we will give the spear hero; a dedicated butler that will help the hero in anything which includes informing him of anything with in range and also keep him out of mortal danger, until the spear hero is strong enough, we shall also give him 10 gold coins which shall be his fund and if a special occasion occurs we shall rectify this and adjust to the situation, we shall also give him access to the royal library so that he may gain the knowledge he requires, we will also offer,-" The advisor went on to list further minor benefits and suggestions.

Ye Xiu hearing all this was shocked as this was more than he had expected so, it took him a while to get his wits about. But he realized that he couldn't be absent minded and that he had to be vigilant unless he wanted to be caught off guard again. As he thought, "First of all the 'personal butler'. While it seemed awesome that I would get someone to cater to my daily needs he realized that it wasn't all sunshine and daisies." As Ye Xiu recalled his childhood when he had a butler that his parents had assigned to him and while, he was fun to have around he realized later on he made sure to keep his parents informed and while this wasn't bad as it was a parents job to take care of their children, that isn't case here as he was a grown man and in front of him is a king that is probably equivalent to his country's old emperors. "And then the funds, while I didn't know the exchange rate, gold seems to be important in various places so I can assume the same for this world as well. And while the advisor said that it may increase under special circumstances his words hid the other side of their implications." Ye Xiu went over each word calmly and thought over what they would entail. And what would be the best approach. A few minutes went by while Ye Xiu went over his options, at that point the king spoke up, "So, Sir Ye Xiu what do you want to do now?" Ye Xiu looked at the king before asking, "King Aultcare, could you perhaps tell me the local time?"

Hearing the simple request King Aultcare answered him, "Of course Sir Ye Xiu, it is currently 5:00 past sunrise." Ye Xiu gave him a grateful nod for the answer while also taking note of the similarity of the time counting. Ye Xiu then cleared his throat and said, " I have decided that for now it's better for me to register to the dragon hourglass and also get some field experience before retiring to the library in the evening. I would be grateful if you could accommodate my requests."

After finally hearing the spear hero's answer everyone in the hall was satisfied and the nobles along with some of the guards stationed there started whispering with each other.

The king was also happy with the answer but decided that it was best to conclude this meeting. "Well, I am satisfied with your answer so, if there isn't anything else to add I believe that Sir Ye Xiu can now officially begin his adventure which I am sure will be remembered for countless generations!"

~Whoosh~

The spearhead made contact with a rubbery surface.

~Pop~ ~Swish~

"I believe that's the last batch of balloon monsters, Young Master. It will take a while before they respawn. Should we perhaps take a break?" a man in his late forties asked the young man in front of him.

The young man, who had been collecting the remains of his hunt, looked around the area they were in and noticed that there was a distinct lack of rubber ball monsters rustling in the tall grass and to the sides we can see a pile of rubber. He first made sure that there weren't any red markers on his screen before letting out a long sigh, "How many times did I tell you Buford, just call me Ye Xiu." the now familiar Ye Xiu said with a tired tone.

Now recognized, Buford replied to him, "Impossible Young Master! How can I denote the legendary spear hero by the first name so casually, in fact you should have allowed me to address you by your full title, 'Young Master Sir Ye Xiu'!"

Ye Xiu, hearing the final words reacted in dismay, "Absolutely not! We already agreed about this Buford." Buford just let out a disappointed sigh in reply, "As you wish Young Master. So, what would you like to do now?"

Hearing the original question repeated to him, Ye Xiu gathered around the pile of monster remains around them and said, "There is still a lot of sunlight, it would be a waste to retire so early. I have already reached level three so, perhaps I think it's better to go to another area with a bit more high leveled monsters, it would be nice if I could get another 3 levels or so."

Ye Xiu had been fighting in one of the monster fields near Castle Town for a few hours now. No surprise to say that it was an interesting experience, well guess you could say that literally as, Ye Xiu checked his status,

{Status}

Ye Xiu, Lv.3

He had indeed made good progress. After his meeting with the king had ended, he had first been introduced to Buford, his personal butler. The king had introduced him as a veteran soldier, who actually fought in the first wave and had made a considerable contribution in stopping it. But that had come at the cost of a grievous injury, while it had healed over a bit it still caused him to be out of action. Although, the kingdom had not treated him unfairly and made him into a high ranking official. But, when he had heard the legendary spear hero had been summoned and that they were looking for a guardian/mentor for the hero, he immediately ran out of his office and applied for the position. Adamant about being the one to guide him he had been very persuasive. And after presenting a good case about him being an experienced soldier who fought with a spear and had actually fought in the waves of catastrophe they accepted.

After the initial introductions, Buford took him on a tour around Castle Town. There he got to visit most of the essential places he needed as an adventurer, i.e. blacksmith shop, potion apparently, it's called 'apothecary shop' in this world, and of course the dragon hourglass. It was an interesting experience to say the least, and while the blacksmith and potion stores were interesting things to visit in person as a pro gamer, he had gone to the same routine of visiting them to get various supplies from such establishments. Of course, the previous experiences couldn't be compared to the one he was currently immersed in but even then, the thing that truly took him out of his comfort zone was none other than, 'the dragon hourglass'.

He looked at the countdown that was ticking at the bottom of his vision, reminding him of the wondrous sight that had greeted him when he went to register to the dragon hourglass that was found in the halls of the nearby church. Although the architecture style of the 'Three Heroes Church' was unique and impressive it couldn't hold a candle against the majesty of the dragon hourglass when he had first seen it. And as he was admiring it a beam of light was fired at him from the hourglass. But it didn't seem to harm him in any way, instead it actually landed on the gem found on his spear making it glow quite brightly and that wasn't the end of it. There was a flash and a countdown appeared on his vision.

{20:15:59:43}

It had taken him a few seconds to adjust to the new addition that appeared in his vision, and by that time he noticed that the numbers on the far right had changed from that of before. It didn't take him long after that to understand their purpose. "So, I have 20 days before the supposed waves of catastrophe hit. Hmm, I don't want to get cocky when I am in an unfamiliar environment but even then isn't 20 days a lot? I mean in 'Glory' a player could possibly reach level 30 or even possibly more if they were an experienced player and pulled off multiple off-nighters. Tch, I really need more info about this place especially considering some of the things I read in the {Help} section. But it's better to be safe and I should at least reach level 20 before the waves."

~Shake~

He lightly shook his head to refocus and looked around. He then noticed that there was the 'nun' standing a few distance away from him.

He slightly notions her. Noticing this the 'nun' made her way towards him before bowing, "How may I be of use to the Holy Spear Hero?" Hearing this Ye Xiu mind blanks out for a while, seemingly caught off-guard by the addressing.

~Hua~ ~Hua~

Orienting himself once more, he spoke up, "I was wondering if you cou-" Ye Xiu continued reminiscing about the encounters and occurrences that had happened on the 'tour'. He saw the wonders of the new world, getting more caught up in the way everyone lived with the existence of magic. He also saw some things that sobered him real fast, making him remember where he was.

Back to the present, Ye Xiu then looks towards Buford, "Well, where should I go next?" "Hhm, so you would like to continue Young Master, in that case there is a field of monsters a bit further from here which contains various more monsters than here. In fact, it will help me see how good your spearmanship is when faced against other monsters." advised Buford.

Hearing the suggestion, Ye Xiu thought it over and quickly agreed. The duo then started walking to the field of monsters, but not before Ye Xiu stored the loot in his inventory. Although a bunch of rubbers wasn't much right now, compared to the resources he was given by the royal family, he could experiment with them later on. He also wanted to test something that had been bothering him ever since he first saw it in the {Help} section.

Ye Xiu had an amazed look on his face when the interface popped up on his face once more, showing him the new additions and their info.

{Orange Balloon Spear} {Yellow Balloon Spear} {Red Balloon Spear}

{Orange Balloon Spear}

Equip effect(locked): Attack up(small)

{Yellow Balloon Spear}

Equip effect(locked): Agility up(small)

{Red Balloon Spear}

Equip effect(locked): Skill- Quick Slash

He tapped on one of the options that had appeared.

~Shua~ ~Glow~

It was then that the spear changed, its size had decreased by a few centimeters and its outlook had shifted from the base form into an orange colored spear, (color depends on its respective monster) with tooth like protrusions, where the previous spearhead had been, in a horizontal manner.

After everything settled down, he was not impressed as he was initially after he saw the stats, He then quickly experimented by 'feeding' the spear various materials he could find, and he had been satisfied by the results.

Even though he had not found a spear with amazing stats he still found a very convenient power up method for him to grow quickly.

Thinking more about this discovery, Ye Xiu got excited on what type of spear form he might get from the monster he was going to hunt now.

As he quickened his footsteps, Buford noticed his young master's excitement and inwardly smiled, while he thought, "He is more excited than when compared earlier but, that is Young Master's behavior as he seems to be naturally cautious. But that is a good thing for his current occupation as being too careful isn't bad. Although, I am sure that once he has the time to grow he will quickly outshine everyone. Even me… so, I should make sure I teach him to the best of my ability." As Buford thought about the young hero in front of him, he reminded himself of his purpose.

After a few minutes of walking they left the perimeter of the previous grass fields, and arrived at a place populated with trees providing shade from the sun. While they were approaching one of the of the trees they hear a sound from a nearby bush,

~Rustle~

But all of a sudden the sound disappeared before,

~SPRING!~

A white blur came dashing out of the bush and charged straight at Ye Xiu.

Although he was surprised at the sudden intrusion, he quickly dodged to the side, making the thing rush past him. But, it caught itself and pivoted around to face Ye Xiu, now that it had taken a pause, Ye Xiu got a good look at the monster. It was actually a rabbit, although it was quite different from the fluffy animal he knew of. For one it had blood-red eyes that were glowing in a menacing manner and it was bigger than a rabbit almost, reaching the size of a small dog in his previous world. But Ye Xiu got his confirmation that it was not a normal rabbit by the info he was given,

Usapil, lvl.5

As Ye Xiu was observing the now identified usapil, it got impatient and rushed at Ye Xiu again, he raised his spear in response clashing against the claws of the usapil creating a high pitched noise that you would expect to hear when two metals hit each other.

As it kept on grinding its claws against his spear, it brought its snarling face near his own, borrowing its initial momentum. Not wanting to get his face bitten off on his first day as a hero, Ye Xiu mustered his strength and pushed with all his might, which overcame the usapil's own force making it fall to the ground once more.

But this time around it didn't give Ye Xiu time to think about his next move and quickly started bouncing in a hazardous manner around Ye Xiu. Disorienting him a good deal. Seeing the young master struggle, Buford spoke up in a teaching voice, "C'mon Young Master don't forget the advantages of fighting with a spear; range and attacking with a built-up momentum."

Although, Ye Xiu didn't show any obvious signs of hearing the advice we can see is him taking a deep breath,

~Huu~

All of this happened in a few seconds, but the rabbit monster feeling that the prey in front of it had dropped his guard, appeared on his flank landing its feet on a small boulder and bending them before,

~Spring~ ~GYAA~

At the exact moment the rabbit monster launched itself, Ye Xiu lowered his center of mass and held his spear in a vice grip. As the monster arrived two meters behind him, he quickly pivoted and then stabbed forward.

Considering the momentum that the usapil had built, it wasn't able to stop itself before the spearhead quickly appeared at its lower jaw. As it saw the spear rapidly close in, it had an unwilling look in its eye before,

~Stab!~ ~GYA-ARGH~

The monster struggled for a while before lying quietly in a pool of its own blood. Silence followed the death of the rabbit monster before,

~CLAP~ ~CLAP~

"Most impressive Young Master, the last move was quite splendid. I am glad you took what I had said to heart and made good use of it." Buford praised Ye Xiu with a proud expression on his face.

Ye Xiu just took deep breaths, trying to calm himself as his heart was pumping quite fast. Although he wasn't sure whether this was because of the adrenaline his body was releasing, or the notion that he might actually have died (although Buford wouldn't have allowed his precious 'Young Master' to come to harm under his watch), it was a bit surreal to come face to face with a monster with very sharp teeth.

Ye Xiu didn't get any reprise though, as he checked the screen in his vision, he could see a bunch of red dots coloring it. Not long after, multiple figures could be seen approaching at his location.

However Ye Xiu just scanned his front in a calm approach, and for a few seconds there was only the sound of rustling and light sounds of rocks being hit before,

~Shua~ ~GYAAA~

Three monsters, similar to the usapil he just killed, came out leaping towards Ye Xiu. It seems that they had come for revenge or perhaps they just smelt the blood and deemed Ye Xiu as a competitor who was going to steal their food.

Although, it doesn't look like that will matter to Ye Xiu because, this time around he didn't even let them get within a two meters distance of him. "Let's try something different this time around shall we." {Change Spear}{Red Balloon Spear}

With a bright flash, the spear changed into one of its newly discovered forms. "Okay, hopefully it will work like it's supposed to…" Ye Xiu muttered in a low tone as he got into position.

Just as three usapils were about to ravage Ye Xiu, he activated the skill and, {Quick Slash}!

Indeed the spear functioned as it was supposed to and released a blade of air which closed in on the approaching usapils and dealt damage to all of them.

Unlike last time though, they didn't insta-die, and the injured rabbits tried to retreat as far as possible, but Ye Xiu wouldn't make such a noob mistake and let them escape so, he charged forward and in quick succession finished them off. Just as he killed them,

Level up, 10% Exp

Seeing the notification, Ye Xiu had a pleasant expression on his face. "Nice. I leveled up. While I am not exactly grinding efficiently, if I go by this progress reaching level twenty in twenty days won't be a difficulty." Ye Xiu thought to himself when noting his current progress. Ye Xiu also noticed that there was an increase in levels of monsters when compared to balloon monsters he had fought earlier, wanting to be sure he asked Buford the reason.

"Well, the reason is that the previous monsters you had faced consisted of balloon monsters as I am sure you had noticed. Those balloon monsters are the weakest monster mob in Melromarc and the royal family decided to keep them around the fields of Castle Town as a means for beginner level adventures to get experience. Of course, the royal army culls them regularly, to keep their numbers under control as any type of monster can be hazardous when in large numbers." Buford explained clearly why Ye Xiu had an easier time facing the balloon monsters.

Ye Xiu hearing this confirmed the thought he had earlier while he had been comparing his current status to his past experience when playing 'Glory'. "It seems that they both share the same way of how monsters behave... well, maybe not exactly. Considering there wasn't any royal army in 'Glory' to clear the monster mobs as they were constricted to their respective leveling zones."

Indeed, the novelty of this place seems to keep on growing with every detail he notices.

"So far, Young Master you seem to have a good grasp on the basics and you are also discovering more features of your spear which is good, the number one rule when using a spear and any other weapon is, knowing the function of what you are using as you are entrusting your life in the tool to aid you in whatever goal you want to achieve. I want you to ingrain this into your head Young Master, as even a hero may fall due to negligence." While Ye Xiu was once again lost in his thoughts, Buford faced him and advised him in a rather serious tone that didn't seem to match the previous jovial and friendly personna he had earlier, making Ye Xiu remember his backstory.

In response Ye Xiu nodded and started to focus more on any differences in details he notices.

He just 'fed' the corpse of the first usapil to his spear and was about to go to the rest when Buford stopped him. Confused on why Ye Xiu turned to him for an explanation.

~Cough~

"Seeing as we are already out in the wild, I might as well teach you some important survival skills that I am sure will be vital to you in the future. I am sure you remember that in the early stage of my life I was an adventurer just like you. And although I wasn't a legendary hero, I prefer to think that the job occupation of being an adventurer requires 'everyone' to be able to take care of themselves in most scenarios. Although I know your situation is different from mine, I see no reason why you can't gain knowledge that shall add to your advantage and may even prove to be a venue for you to grow more than your previous state." Buford explained in a logical manner.

It didn't take long for Ye Xiu to agree to this proposal as it didn't hinder him in any way and was actually a very useful bonus to possess. Ye Xiu actually formed a funny thought in his head thinking, "This must be a secret quest, to get extra skills." It actually made him chuckle slightly which Buford obviously noticed but just dismissed it and was just satisfied that the Young Master was agreeing with him.

~Clap~

Clapping his hand Buford spoke with a rather jovial tone, "Perfect! I am glad that the Young Master is willing to hear my advice. Well, for now I believe the appropriate lesson is after hunting a prey. How to turn it into something edible?"

Buford continued his lesson while also making sure that Ye Xiu was paying attention to him, "Now you have already accomplished the first task by killing the rabbit monsters, next is about how to prepare them into a meal. There are a lot of steps involved but first, you must know what type of monsters can serve as food and those that can't. You should get a…"

For the next few minutes Buford briefed Ye Xiu on the basics of feeding oneself out in the wild. And while it wasn't a detail intensive session Ye Xiu learned quite a few things.

Some of it being obvious, like the fact that inorganic monsters like balloon monsters aren't edible but also some of the things he didn't know such as how some organic lifeform's produce may lead to some serious health hazards without showing obvious symptoms from the start.

Making sure Ye Xiu understood the information he was giving him and also advising him to learn more on his own, Buford concluded the minor teaching session and went to the practical part of the lesson.

"..What did you say?" Ye Xiu asked in an unbelieving tone.

"Indeed Young Master I didn't mis-speak. I am going to teach you how to skin monsters and even let you practice on one of them. It's a good thing that we have more than enough beasts for us to do so." said Buford in an almost suspiciously amused manner.

But still seeing the uncomfortable expression on Ye Xiu, Buford decided to make it easier for his 'young master' and started to explain the reason behind his lesson.

"This is how adventurers collect their loot or even how the producer classes make their craft. And, while this might not apply to you as you have your spear to take care of any waste and also extract the loots in another manner, there is more to being an adventurer than just carrying around a powerful weapon. One of the things that there is to it, is knowing the materials in your possession so that you won't have to waste something because you didn't know the function of it at that time." Buford finished off his explanation with a slightly serious tone that he uses when wanting to emphasize on something important.

Ye Xiu still didn't look convinced as even with his 13 years worth of gaming knowledge and 27 years of life experience he had not been exposed to such types of habits. This was also true when he ran away from home when he was child, as even then there was no need to adopt such extreme norms to survive.

While he was still deliberating over the idea of butchering a monster for its loot and meat, Buford noticed that the sky seemed to be darkening when compared to the start of their venture and decided that for today it was better for the young master to gain a few more levels and retire for the evening.

~Hua~

"It's okay Young Master, perhaps we could reach a compromise for today. Let me do the butchering for now. It is better not to waste precious time. We may still be able to help you get a level or two more and besides you can see me do it and learn it before it's your turn to practice." "Do we have an agreement, Young Master?" Buford proposed after releasing a light sigh.

After hearing all of this, Ye Xiu realized that he was acting a bit immature and decided to stop his deliberation and reply, "Okay, and also sorry for being a bit rude." Ye Xiu said in an awkward tone.

"No worries, it is actually my fault for not accounting for your situation. I would assume it's a bit surreal when compared to your previous world. Anyways, watch carefully I will dismember the monster corpses, and keep in mind that there are different manners of doing this for different creatures and the like." Buford quickly went to show him how to 'collect loot' the 'traditional way'.

While Ye Xiu still found it a bit uncomfortable, he told himself he should at least be mature enough to accept guidance when offered without disturbing that person.

Precisely as he said Buford wasted no time butchering and skinning the rabbits with precision and care that you could only assume that he had done it multiple times before, which he had.

It took him around 10 minutes for him to finish through all the remaining corpses that were there, although Ye Xiu suspected that he was taking additional time so that he could have an easier time when it was his turn.

Buford got up while picking up a water jug, which he had used earlier to clean the usapils skins, to wash the blood off his hands.

The result of Buford's labor appeared in front of them in separate piles. On one side lay the pelts of each monster, to the left of the pelts was the meat and on the meat's other side were the bones, claws and teeth and finally at a bit distance away from the rest of the bunch laid the organs and whatnot that were not useful.

"As you can see Young Master, these are the materials you can get from the rabbit monsters you fought. From the given piles only three may be of use. These being; the meat, pelt and bones, claws and teeth of the monster. You can probably guess but yes, the organs are of no use and are usually thrown aside."

Ye Xiu was indeed impressed with skill that Buford had shown although he still showed some doubts, he was not going to deny that it may be of use in the future, of course not for the reasons that Buford had mentioned earlier as he felt that the amazing weapon he held functioned more than that of a means of offense. "Just like 'Glory' " Ye Xiu thought of while internally muttering.

Buford, unaware of the young master's thoughts, continued speaking. "Well Young Master, shall we keep on moving there are more monsters like the usapil that you should be able to handle. But before that, there is another important lesson which I guess won't be that much of an issue for you… Anyways, it's that when you have killed something, you usually have a bloody trail so it's absolutely necessary to clean up any traces that could cause other monsters to mob you in large numbers or even attract a stronger beast that you can't handle. And the first thing you have to remove is the remains."

Ye Xiu just stared awkwardly at Buford feeling bad at the current situation. Buford, seeing Ye Xiu's expression just sighed internally and said, "I know Young Master won't necessarily need this but, it's best you know it and don't need it rather than not know it and pay an unnecessary price.

Ye Xiu just silently agreed and pointed to the 'loot' lying on, "What should we do now?" "Well, a normal adventurer would have the meat and even possibly the bones for dinner as a stew or soup and sell the rest of materials for perhaps a few silvers in total. But, seeing as you are not in a dire need for food or money. Young Master can do whatever you wish to…"

Hearing Buford's thoughts Ye Xiu also felt similar, although it was a bit surreal as he had developed a bit of stingy behavior as a result of playing 'Glory' and didn't like wasting anything.

Shaking his head of the ridiculous feeling, he moved his hand towards the piles to store them in his inventory, except the organs obviously. The spear's gem glowed as a result of Ye Xiu storing the pelts, meat and just as he was about to store the bones he had a weird idea.

First checking the things in front of him and thinking that he was going to experiment with them later on anyway he decided to try out the weird hypothesis he had just formed.

Taking one bone from the pile, he brought it towards the gem. But this time around he didn't do it with the intent of storing it in his inventory. And just like he thought the spear absorbed it like it would any material!

"No, I shouldn't get excited, let's see if it will do anything different."

Ye Xiu didn't have to wait long as just like the previous times the spear had absorbed a material, the interface showed a notification stating that a new spear had been unlocked,

{Usapil Bone Thorn}

Equip Effect(locked): Speed 1

Special Effect: Skill- Momentous Stab

Ye Xiu just stood there confused and delighted. "So, what does this mean exactly? I had already gotten a spear form from the first usapil monster body, and although I hadn't checked me it should have its own equip effect. Yet, I am getting another spear from a part of its body?" Ye Xiu started muttering madly, trying to understand how this works.

"Wait. Let me check the spear I got first from the 'whole' usapil monster." Ye Xiu, remembering that he had not actually seen the first spear, decided to see its stats, to get more info of course.

{Usapil Small Spear}

Equip Effect(locked): Speed 2

Special Effect: Skill- Double Stab

"... This doesn't give sense. Is it a bug or a glitch because how can I get more benefits by separating it into different materials and still have the original form." Ye Xiu becoming even more confused, goes into another deep thinking.

Buford just stood there awkwardly, feeling a bit helpless at the antics of his young master. "I guess it's natural to be curious about everything, especially something as divine as the legendary spear. But still…"

"Young Master?" deciding it was better to get back to their original goal Buford once interrupts Ye Xiu from his thoughts.

Just as he was about to tell the other person to not disturb him, Ye Xi looks at the patient but slightly stern face of Buford.

"... Yeah that's right, how can I forget? I am not in my room. I am in a hostile environment, yet here I am getting lost in my head. I really need to get myself together, even as an 'adult' I still get fascinated by-" Ye Xiu was just about to continue his thought before stopping.

~Shake~

Shaking his head, Ye Xiu just stored the rest of the 'test materials' in his inventory. "Okay Buford, let's go. I apologize for my behavior and once more thank you for teaching me new things about this world."

"It's okay, Young Master. Now shall we go find another monster, Perhaps you might find something of even more interest." Buford with a gentle voice.

Ye Xiu hearing the last part felt a rush of excitement but quickly calmed down not wanting to repeat the previous mistake, although you could still

see the look of wonder and unrestrained imagination at the things waiting for him going forth.

"Indeed. this seems to be the Young Master's true behavior." Buford thought amusedly and also with a tone hiding something.

"In that case let me lead the way, Young Master." Buford replied to Ye Xiu out loud. And just like that the duo continued to look for more monsters to hunt until the sun had truly set retiring for the night.

"It was truly an interesting experience." Ye Xiu muttered lightly.

"I am very impressed by the Young Mater's performance. And I feel like tomorrow will be an even more interesting day." Buford replied to Ye Xiu with praise will also adding a small comment at the end. Ye Xiu hearing was about to ask him but, Buford just turned to him and said, "Well Young Master I am sure you are tired so have a good night rest."

Ye Xiu just bid the same to him as well. "I really am tired. While I had planned to visit the library today, I guess one day before locking myself inside the library isn't all that bad." With that last thought Ye Xiu just made his way to his 'chambers', remembering the way to it by now he didn't any maid to guide.

And just like that the second day of being a legendary hero in another world passed.

AN: Yah, so I decided to write another AN. First of all, I am glad you have made it here so far, thanks a lot for reading my fanfic it really is very gratifying to have someone else notice my work and it will be even more helpful if you guys can leave a review about any thoughts you have had so far. Anyways I have been trying different ways of writing until I can get a beta reader (which is also another thing you guys can help with) so, like mentioned previously point out something that seems wrong to you, either grammatically or perhaps something plot related so that I can fix it and learn from it for better experience in the future.

So, we have officially seen our MC experiencing the world a bit more and has also made a lot of conclusions based on what he has seen. And about the amount of time necessary for the wave to arrive. Well, I took everything into account and remember this isn't like canon the heroes are summoned separately. Anyways this is all for now and I will mention anything necessary in future ANs until then, ~adios~
