Authoress Note: Welcome to Chapter 9 of Stark Dynasty. Thank you to those who have left reviews and have kept up with the story. It does mean a lot to me that you guys are enjoying it. Hopefully, these chapters will get easier as I write this for longer than usual. We have come up after Captain America First Avenger. We have Agent Carter Season 1 and hopefully Season 2. We might have a few episodes in it, but I think that is probably best. Then there will be an introduction to the next Stark. Hopefully, that won't take too long for me to set it up. I hope that you enjoy this next part of the story. Without further ado Chapter 9. Enjoy!
Chapter 9
Return of the 107th
Dorothy sat in the same room as Phillips and stared out his window stoically. She pursed her lips together after having gotten an ear full of everything. She didn't see what she did as wrong, but she had told Howard that it was something that she was going to have to own up since she did do something that was completely off-brand even for her.
"Senator Brandt, I regret to report that Captain Steven G. Rogers went missing behind enemy lines on the 3rd of last week." He looked down to read the rough draft on his notepad. "Aerial reconnaissance has proven unfruitful. As a result, I must declare Captain Rogers killed in action."
The corporal stopped typing.
Phillips turned around to see Peggy standing at the door, red-eyed and tired.
"The last surveillance flight is back." She entered and laid down the aerial pictures of the disintegrated Hydra camp. "No sign of activity."
Phillips gazed at the photos, then looked at the corporal. "Corporal. Why don't you go get a cup of coffee?"
The corporal nodded his head and left the room.
"I can't touch Stark. He's a civilian...and the Army's number one weapons contractor. You're neither." Phillips said as he looked at Peggy.
"You'll have my resignation in the morning."
"I can probably make it so that you'll avoid a court martial."
"With respect, sir, I don't regret my actions. And I doubt Captain Rogers did, either."
"What makes you think I give a damn about your opinions?"
Peggy went rigid as she looked at Phillips.
Phillips stepped forward. "I took a chance on you, Agent Carter. Now that boy and a lot of
other men are dead because you had a crush."
"It wasn't that. I had faith."
Dorothy got up to her feet slowly and went to head out of the tent pursing her lips together as she could still hear Phillips giving Peggy the third degree.
"Well, I hope that's a great comfort to you when they shut this division down."
Dorothy looked up hearing the commotion and began to move quickly towards where the noise was.
Dozens of soldiers hurried towards the camp entrance.
Dorothy bit her lip softly as the soldier part revealed Steve and Bucky walking up the road, leading a squad of POW's ragtag vehicles following carrying the rest.
Steve's uniform hung filthy and torn, his shield battered and bent, but his head was held high.
The Gi's began to cheer as more came running.
Hodge came out of his barracks, drying his hair. He stopped, stunned. "Rogers?"
The crowd parted even more allowing Steve to come up to Phillips and Peggy.
He saluted Phillips. "Colonel, some of these men need medical attention."
Phillips looked at the gaunt faces of the men before nodding his head.
The medics quickly rushed to help the POWs.
"I'd like to surrender myself for disciplinary action."
Phillips looked at Steve's battered, burned shield. "That won't be necessary."
"Sir, I…"
"Just how many orders do you plan on disobeying, Captain?"
Steve locked eyes with Phillips before smiling. "Yes, sir."
Phillips looked at Peggy, smiling wryly. "Faith, huh?"He walked away leaving Steve and Peggy to talk.
Dorothy walked over to the POWs to help them. She noticed the man that was next to Steve and walked up to him biting her lip shyly, being careful not to scare him or even hurt him. "Where do you hurt, soldier?" She questioned as she looked at him.
A smile crept across his face as he looked at the woman before him. He had to admit that she was one beautiful dame and a military woman at that.
"Come on, let's get you to a tent," Dorothy said, gesturing to him to follow her.
Bucky began to follow her toward the medical tent to get much-needed care. "So, you are?" Bucky questioned as he walked with her.
"Dorothy Stark."
"Your Howard's sister?"
Dorothy chuckled and smiled a small smile. "Agent Stark to everyone here on base, but yes. I'm his little bratty sister as he would like to call me."
Bucky let out a soft chuckle.
"I'm just glad to see that all of you made it out alive. But I have a feeling he broke some Stark Tech when he went in." Dorothy mused as she opened the tent allowing him to slowly go in.
Bucky slowly went inside and smiled at her again. "Most likely."
"Ah well, there is more tech where that came from," Dorothy said with a simple shrug of her shoulder as she held her hand out for the weapon he held. "Do you mind if I take that?"
Bucky let out a soft chuckle and handed it to her. "No, of course not."
Dorothy smiled as she took it. "It'll give Howard something to do, to see what we can figure out what this weapon is all about."
"So did you help Steve come in to save us?"
"Yes, Howard and I flew him in. We just weren't expecting him to jump out of the plane, but I know why he did it. We were fighting from getting shot down from the air."
"Who's idea was it?"
"His, but mine to get my brother's help. If Howard didn't help, I would have done it myself."
"You can fly?"
Dorothy nodded her head. "One of my many talents. Learned from Howard. He wanted me to know how to fly. So I learned." She said with a shrug of her shoulders. "Now someone will be here to tend to you. You rest and try to regain your strength. You look like you've been through hell."
Bucky smiled softly and touched her hand lightly. "Thank you."
"For?"
"Bringing me in here."
Dorothy smiled a small smile. "Any time." She said winking before leaving the tent slowly. Dorothy took a soft breath biting her lower lip before going on her way to deliver the weapon to her brother.
