Paralogue One: Pokémon, Advanced

"I'll admit, Mr. Vaughn, when I saw your application come through the portal, I would have thought it was a prank had you not given me a phone call." Clavell's sheepishness was almost palpable through the computer monitor as Markus sipped from his water bottle. "At any rate, your resume is impressive, Now let's talk about you as a person. What do you like to do in your spare time?"

Markus chuckled. "Honestly, Mr. Director, I write and sing songs." His answer gave director Clavell pause. "I also help organize the world championship every year, just on the logistics end though." The man paused, as Clavell looked over his paperwork.

"And you worked for the International Police, it seems. What were your job duties there?" There was a long pause before Markus answered. "Mr. director, I'm afraid that most of the specifics of what I've done are classified. All I'm legally allowed to tell you is I worked with a team of experts to hamper some Pokémon smuggling and abuse rings around Hoenn and Orre." Clavell nodded. "And you've applied to teach advanced battle strategies. What would you say makes you qualified to instruct that particular course?"

Markus slid his chair to the right to reveal the trophy sitting on his bookshelf. "World Champion, last year, and for the three years before that." Clavell nodded and smiled. "And the school term starts in forty days. Can you be settled here in Mesagoza in that time?"

"Absolutely." Markus cracked a smile. "If you'll have me." It was Clavell's turn to chuckle. "Pack a bag, Mr. Vaughn. You have the job." Markus tried, vainly, to hide his joy. "I'll send your employment forms within the next twenty-four hours. Once they're submitted, we'll get your faculty ID made and get you in your classroom. I look forward to seeing what you can do. Until then, you have an apartment to move." He said his goodbyes and the call ended.

Gengar slid into Markus's shadow. "You up for teaching a bunch of kids the advanced stuff, Gengar?" There was a pause, and then "Geennnnnngar." She shouted as the ghost Pokémon emerged from her trainer's shadow and grabbed onto his arm.
