Two: Dear Mom
"What a battle!" Nemona's bubbly personality was on full display, even as she pulled a revive and a potion from her bag. "I'll admit, I wasn't expecting you to be able to battle so well right out of the gate." She scattered the revive dust onto Quaxley, who promptly woke up cheerfully. "Here, this is for Sprigs." She tossed Elaina the potion. Elaina caught the bottle and sprayed its contents onto Sprigatito. "Alright, Next step is to head to Mesagoza! I'd love to show you around the city!"
"I need to head home first. Mom was gone to return the moving truck when I left. She'll want to meet Sprigs." I'm going to have quite a story for my mother... Nemona nodded, thoughtfully. "Yeah, you probably should fill her in. I'll meet you at your place in a couple of hours." Elaina nodded and tucked Sprigs into his Pokéball. After a short walk, Elaina opened her front door and found her mother unpacking the kitchen. Her mom paused and set down the plates she was holding. Her eyes were soft, but determined, it seemed. "Did something happen while I was gone?" Her mother shook her head. "You wanna meet Sprigs?" Her mother nodded, and Elaina opened the Pokéball. Sprigatito burst forth and meowed happily as he jumped onto the counter to meet Elaina's mother.
Her tension was instantly melted as her gaze fell on Sprigatito. "Aww, you got a pretty little kitty Pokémon!" She smiled and began petting Sprigatito and scratching behind his ears. "He's so perfect. You picked a winner, honey." Elaina blushed and moved to pull Sprigatito back into his ball, but mom stopped her. "Let him meet Skwovet before you put him back in his ball."
Elaina spoke next "Honestly, mom, he kinda picked me." She scooped up Sprigatito and brought him over to where their pet Skwovet was resting on his little bed. "Go play, Sprigs." She opened her arms and Sprigatito simply walked up to Skwovet and joined him sleeping in the sun. Elaina turned back to her mom. "I had a fun day today. Our neighbor even challenged me and Sprigs to a Pokémon battle. I won, by the way." /
Her mom smiled at her. "I'm a little miffed you just ran off with some random people, Elaina, but given that everything worked out alright, and that beautiful Pokémon you've brought home, I'll leave it be." She pulled her daughter into a hug. "And I saw the acceptance letter on the desk, congratulations!" She released Elaina, who smiled back at her.
"They weren't random, though, mom. It was the academy's director and our neighbor down the street." She fiddled with the strings on her shorts. "Also, Nemona is supposed to be back in about an hour. We're going to the lighthouse, I think.
"Alright." Her mom's smile didn't return to her face, but Elaina could tell she was trying to land her helicopter. "I mean, you're going off to school in just a few days anyhow, so I'm going to have to get over myself." Elaina paused at her mother's words, then thought for a second before responding, "I'm proud of you, mom." Her mom gave a sad smile at Elaina's statement. "Let's just, can we watch an episode of The Great Johtonian Bake Off before you go off with your new friend?" Elaina smiled and went to get the remote.
