One solar system away from the planet the Hammond was in orbit over, a ship lurked. Ugly, squarish and bulky. Built rather like the people within it. In one room of this ship, the captain of this vessel was watching monitors, studying this new prey that had walked into their new hunting ground. Four of them seemed no different then any of the others they had so far tested.
But the other seven were not behaving in a matter that was at all familiar. As he watched he began to wonder, 'had they finally found prey worth Hunting?' They hadn't had a decent Hunt for several generations now. They needed something new, fresh. After all, in more then a million years, they'd only lost once. The Hunt becomes routine, if the prey cannot provide a true Challenge. He sat and continued to watch as the new prey was tested, becoming more interested with each moment he watched.
When John Sheppard came to, he realized he was alone and had no gun. His P90 was gone. The ka-bar knife in its sheath was still tucked under his vest, but that was all he had. He immediately inventoried his supplies. He had his compass, a life signs detector, some ration bars, not much else. He'd need to find food, shelter, the others and the 'gate, not necessarily in that order. The Hammond would have pulled them out by now if it could have, so something was either blocking them or they were too busy with something, like say a battle, to pull them out. So, that left surviving until they managed the 'gate or rescue. He hadn't been there long when he realized something else. He was being hunted. He'd played cat and mouse with enemy soldier and Wraith enough to know that feeling. Maybe he could turn things around. He started working on traps. If he could catch whoever was hunting him, maybe he could get answers from them.
When Rodney McKay woke up, he too was missing his P90. Didn't matter, his brain was his weapon and he had his tablet. He immediately switched it on and began studying the readouts. Looking for the Stargate, his team and the Protectors. He found the force fields. He also found signs of one other person. Moving methodically closer to him. One of the aliens was hunting him. Using his tablet, he was able to avoid it for a time as he searched for signs of the others. He just needed to buy time. Eventually they'd find each other or Sam would figure out how to get past the force field.
Ronan hated being hunted. The Wraith had hunted him. He was certain this new alien was hunting him as well. He'd hunted back when the Wraith had made him a runner. He'd survived for seven years doing that, but he'd been alone then. Now he had people that would be looking for him and he would look for them as well. In the meantime, time to hunt the hunter.
When Teyla Emmagan woke up, she too was without her P90. But whoever these people were, they had left her her fighting sticks. A weapon she was much more familiar with. She knew how to live off the land, she too could survive until help came. Then she realized she too was being hunted and not by a Wraith. A Wraith she understood. She knew their tricks and could sense them. This was not a Wraith. Didn't matter, she could still fight.
When Colonel Carter realized there was a force field and they'd lost contact with the team on the surface, she immediately began issuing orders. The force fields were being analyzed. The other ship was being watched for. Eventually she'd have answers, she just had to be patient. Never an easy thing and she was still getting used to being the one forced to watch, instead of being the one in the thick of it. It didn't help that those weren't just colleagues down there, they were friends.
When Jesse McNally woke up, he behaved differently however. He was a Medic by trade, but was a Magic user as well. The world looked very different to him, then to the others. He placed his hand on a nearby tree and reached out with his senses. He found the hunter looking for him. Through his connection with the tree, he 'saw' the hunter. He could avoid him until the Pack found him. They would come for him. It was what true family did. Protected each other. He located the Stargate's presence as well. It's energy, much different then nature. He began moving towards it, periodically touching a tree and keeping a steady distance between himself and the alien. He just needed to stay calm and pay attention and he'd be going home to his wife, Sarah and their son, Morgan.
When Xander Harris-Chase woke up, he immediately scented the air, he found the familiar scents of nature. He also found the hunter. He did not however, find his Pack, Jesse or AG 1. He needed more information. He found an animal that reminded him of a large cat and squatted down in front of it. It was clearly frightened. He sent reassuring signals and slowly reached out and gently placed his hand on its head. Immediately he was assaulted by it's memories. It knew something new had come to its world. It knew people and animals were being hunted. It also knew, the hunters had placed things it didn't understand all over the place. Xander, though, had a good idea what they were. Sensors or cameras. Another way these aliens could determine prey worth hunting. He silently thanked the cat and urged her to find shelter. We will fight these newcomers, he assured her. He checked his supplies as well. His own ration bars and his sword. He set out to find the cameras. Much easier to hunt back if they don't see you coming.
