Apollo was minding his own business at one of the cafes in Olympus. It was almost daybreak and he needed to drive the sun soon. He was just walking to the counter to return the cup when his eyes started glowing. In a voice that wasn't his own, he spoke.
With arrow shot, Heart of Wisdom falls
A queen-to-be rises to walk your halls
War god falls with current age
The sky brought low by his rage
Destruction forged by gods' own hands
New laws come to rule these lands
Annabeth had spent the last day moving west. She wasn't sure why Percy was there but wherever he was she needed to find and talk to him. She didn't even stop to sleep the first night. She tried to logic a reason for doing so but honestly, she simply didn't notice that the day had slipped into a moonless night. She needed to be with him. She needed to explain. Even if they couldn't be with each other due to his divinity she couldn't let him live out eternity trying to figure out what went wrong.
It was almost morning when she felt it. A small pinch on her lower back followed by… The only way she could describe it was her heart being ripped from her chest. It was excruciating. She fell to her knees and wailed in pain and loss. She understood immediately what happened. When Aphrodite blessed, them she told them they would always know where their heart was. Now her heart was dead. Percy had died.
Still on her knees with tears streaming down her cheeks, she looked up to the sky and howled at the sky. "Why? You took him. Made him a god. A fate he never wanted. You had to kill him too?" She wasn't expecting an answer. The gods rarely respond to pleading prayers let alone angry shouting, so she was utterly flat-footed when she saw the bright light of a god materializing in front of her. She didn't care who it was. They were a god and therefore responsible for this mess and all the others they put their children through. She sprang up lashing out with her dagger. It was rash and uncalculated, but she didn't care at that moment. Percy had done many rash, stupid, wonderful things for her. She could do this one for him.
Annabeth was surprised to see the love goddess watching her carefully. Even more so when the peaceful goddess quickly and effortlessly disarmed her and pulled her into a tight hug. Annabeth tried to break free before relaxing into the warm embrace. Once the heartbroken girl stopped fighting back, Aphrodite loosened her grip but didn't let go. "Shhhh. You poor girl. The gods' fear of you and your love has cost you much. Do not despair my dear. He did become a god and gods are not so easy to kill. He will reform. I know not where the fates have deemed to send him but he as expected Tartarus in the name of love before. He will do so again if need be. There is no force strong enough to keep that boy away from you."
Annabeth's tears lessened as she cried into the goddess' shoulder. "That might take a mortal lifetime or longer. He, he thinks I abandoned him. Worse than abandoned. What if he doesn't come back to me?"
Aphrodite thought for a moment while gently stroking the sobbing demigod's head. "He jumped into the worst place in the universe just to be with you. A few sharp words aren't going to drive him off for long. Come with me, young one. We will go to Olympas and figure out the mortal lifetime problem. It should be in my power to solve that little issue of your fragile fate string. I just don't know how. Then no matter how long it takes for him to reform you can see him again. " Annabeth hesitated. Immortality is what got them into this mess in the first place but if it meant a chance to see Percy again, she would take it. She gave a slight nod into Aphrodite's shoulder. With that, Annabeth felt the weightless and squeezing that comes from flashing with a god. When she could open her eyes, she was stunned to see a large pool filled with a thick foam.
"Oh dear." Aphrodite mumbled, "Romen would be much nicer but I suppose you are Greek and so there is nothing that could be done. Welp. Clean yourself up while I go figure out the solution to our little problem. "
Annabeth had never cared much about the way she looked but when the goddess of beauty told her she needed to clean up she suddenly felt every bit of grimness and sweat that comes with traveling. She knew her eyes were red and puffy. Her knees were also scraped up from her fall. Carefully undressing she slipped into the bath offered to her. It was the perfect temperature and the perfumes smelled wonderful. She couldn't get herself to enjoy any of it. It reminded her of too much of Circe's Island and the Lotus Hotel.
Even if those particular places weren't traps the thought reminded her of Percy. Her chest couldn't take much more of it. She quickly got out and found her clothes had magically cleaned and folded themselves. She got dressed and set out to wonder. She quickly realized she was in Mount Olympus' public bath house. She didn't remember why she had decided it with so many twisting halls.
Aphrodite ran into her a short time later. "There you are." The goddess breathed. "I would have thought you would still be in the bath." Annabeth wasn't sure if she was being scolded or not. Before she could offer up an explanation Aphrodite quickly chopped out, "I figured out how I particularly bless a mortal with semi-immortality." Again acting faster than Annabeth could come up with a response the love goddess acted, pulling a stunned demigod into a full kiss on the lips. Then, as quickly as it started, it was over. "Now let's flash you back to camp. "And with that, Annabeth was standing by Thaila's tree trying to figure out what just happened.
I'm not sure how or why but these keep getting longer. I don't have the set length I am for. Past experience has shown that holds me back. You guys can let me know what you think of the increasing length. What do you think of the prophecy? I'm pretty proud of it. It follows a similar syllable structure to the ones the books use.
