Rachel stared at Quinn, waiting for an answer to her question. Both girls saw the headlights as they lit up the living room, clearly Judy had arrived. Quinn was out of her head now and looked to Rachel, hoping that she could be anywhere but there. She smiled and began to stand.
"Quinn, please…" Rachel asked gently as she reached for the blondes hand.
Quinn looked back down to Rachel, who hadn't moved from her position on the couch next to where she had been sitting. "I can't do this right now." She said, softly tugging her hand away. "There's too much that has happened."
At the sight of the headlights, Leroy and Hiram entered the room where they found the pair once more. Quinn offered a soft smile. "I believe that's my mom." She motioned towards the headlights. "I apologize again for everything tonight." Quinn stared at the men sincerely, "It won't happen again."
She looked to Rachel and smiled before heading towards the door. Rachel quickly stood and went after her. "Quinn, wait!" she called quietly, causing the other girl to turn towards her. "She stopped at the door as Quinn reached out for the handle. "I…when can we talk about this?" The brunette was looking into slightly darker hazel eyes than she had remembered.
Quinn sighed, "I don't know. Rachel…" Quinn stepped closer to the shorter woman. "I don't even know what I'm doing here. I don't remember leaving my house." Quinn began to tear up. "Right now, I just need to go home. Okay?"
Rachel stared deeply into her eyes. She could see the lost and confused clouds storming withing Quinn's eyes. "Of course." Before she could stop herself, she flung herself into Quinn's arms, wrapping her arms tightly around the blonde. "I'm so sorry, Quinn."
Quinn tensed slightly before wrapping her up. She could smell the sweet vanilla smell of the small singer. She had been robbed of this for so long. She said a silent thank you to whatever in the universe was allowing her this moment. She blinked her tears away a few times before breaking away from the embrace. "Goodnight, Rachel." Quinn stepped back to the door and tugged it open.
Rachel gave a small smile as she watched the blonde exit. As soon as the door shut, Rachel felt her legs give out and a sob racked her body. Her fathers rushed forward, enveloping their daughter, and whispering sweet words and affirmations.
She cried into her fathers. "Why did this happen to her?" She asked no one, as she continued to cry.
Quinn walked as quickly as she could towards her mother's car, hoping to leave this incredibly uncomfortable situation she had found herself in, far behind her.
As Quinn opened the door to the car, Judy smiled tiredly to her. Her mother suddenly looked older than she had noticed. Quinn looked in the backseat where her mother's dog slept soundly. She smiled to herself, realizing judy had finally asked the neighbors for the dog that constantly kept her up at night. Clearly he just needed someone to love him with everything in them.
Judy quietly cleared her throat, "seat belt?" She asked as she backed out.
"Oh, right!" Quinn immediately grabbed the belt and pulled in across her, listening for the familiar click. She waited for Judy to finish backing out and begin towards the home before she spoke again. "I'm sorry, mom."
Judy glanced over at Quinn before quickly returning her gaze to the road in front of her. "Oh Quinne," she reached out for the soldier's hand, "you never need to apologize to me for that. I just am so glad you're here." Judy stiffened; Quinn could feel the tenseness in her hand. "I was worried that-"Her voice broke before she could finish.
"I know mom," She looked at her mother, staring hard at her as she felt the trembling pain of the hurt her mother was feeling within her. "I'm so sorry that this happened."
Judy felt Quinn squeeze her hand even harder, they rode in silence until they reached the house. Judy retrieved the sleeping dog, carrying him inside before gently setting him down. She held the door for Quinn. Once inside Judy yawned. "Well..I better head back to bed, dear."
Quinn watched as her mother began to leave "Mom!" She called out
Judy froze at the sad breaking in her daughter's voice, before feeling her daughter wrap her arms around her from behind. "Sweetheart…" she turned to look into her daughters' eyes. "Oh Quinnie." She cried as she held her daughter close.
"I don't know why I'm so fucked up." Quinn cried into her mom's chest.
Judy stroked her daughter's hair as she cried. "Quinnie, you are my baby." She kissed the top of her daughter's head tenderly. "We will get through this." She promised.
The next day was harder than most as Quinn sat at her office computer, cursing the old operating system as it continuously crashed. Angrily, she swiped the monitor off of the desk, everything on the desk crashing with it. She buried her hands in her palms as she heard a soft knocking on her door. "Perfect." She hissed out. "Come in!" she called, sitting back, not trying to cover what had just happened,
Kitty stepped through the door and raised an eyebrow. "Is this a bad time."
Quinn raised a brow back. "What is it?"
Kitty shuffled in and sat across from Quinn. "You gave Marley advice, I heard." Kitty began to look at her feet. Quinn could feel her lips slowly smile but hid it immediately.
"And…?" Quinn stared at the cheerleader. "What does that matter?" Quinn began to dig around in her office drawer for her phone, playing nonchalantly. She saw a notification from RB on her screen. She rolled her eyes and swiped it clear.
Kitty hummed and whispered her response, causing Quinn to become slightly annoyed. "Kitty, I can't hear you."
Kitty looked up at her then, tears falling down her face, "She was talking about me."
Quinn looked at her again, confused once more. "What do you mean?"
"We're in a relationship." Kitty blurted to Quinn.
Quinn smiled at Kitty, slowly sighing. Kitty looked to her, confused and irritated. "I thought so." Quinn started. "Why exactly did my advice hurt your relationship?"
Kitty stared at her. "Look, I'm bad at this feelings stuff."
Quinn laughed, "Yeah, ditto kid."
Kitty rolled her eyes, "She gave me an ultimatum. Be open or don't be."
Quinn pursed her lips momentarily. "So, are you afraid of being public or is it the coming out part?"
Kitty sighed, the tears starting harder. "My parents will disown me." She looked at Quinn, hurt and pain in her face. "I can't lose them."
Quinn nodded. "I understand."
"Then why suggest it? We were fine!" Kitty screamed, standing quickly and kicking the chair she was sitting in.
Quinn crossed her arms at this. "Were you?" Quinn stood, picking up the chair and setting it back, upright. "You were constantly bullying her, and only meeting in secret." She pointed at the chair, telling the Cheerio to sit.
Kitty rolled her eyes, sitting once more. "I can't blow my cover."
Now it was Quinn's turn to roll her eyes. "Sure." She groaned as she sat back down. "Look, want my advice?"
"Umm..no? The last time you gave a student advice didn't exactly turn out great." Kitty huffed.
"Cool, look if you care about her then treat her better." Quinn reached back into the desk for her phone, seeing another notification from RB. She thought back to how she had treated Rachel in school. "If you can't be out with her, at least be kind to her when you are with her in public." Quinn stared at Kitty. "Trust me, it will save you so much time."
Kitty stared at Quinn. "God…you're bad at this." And she stormed out of the coach's office.
Quinn rolled her eyes. Today sucked. Teens sucked. She decided to open her phone and read these texts that were now pouring in.
RB- Quinn, I'd greatly appreciate talking today.
RB- Even if it's only for a few moments. I really do believe that there are some things that we should go over. Last night was very confusing and I would love the opportunity to have some clarity brought to the situation.
Quinn rolled her eyes, of course Rachel would text like this.
QF- Nothing to talk about right now.
RB- Quinn, I disagree wholly. I am free an will be arriving in a few moments.
QF- No.
Quinn sat back in her desk chair and groaned, throwing the phone onto the desk that was still empty, all of it's belongings on the ground.
The blonde stared at the ceiling, dragging her hands down her face, feeling slight scars as she went. She heard a few raps on her door. "Go away." She answered.
Rachel Berry appeared in her doorway, "Quinn, that's not polite." She saw the items on the ground. "What happened?" She asked urgently. "Are you okay?" She stepped further in, making her way towards Quinn.
Quinn sighed, removing her hands from her face, "I'm fine." She called out, not realizing that Rachel Berry was now right in front of her, kneeling down to take her in. Quinn gulped at the close proximity of the other woman. She watched as the chocolate swirls in Rachel's eyes dance sweetly. She traced her eyes across her face, taking her in. She hadn't noticed just how tired Rachel looked.
Rachel blushed under Quinn's scrutiny; she was taking the blonde woman in as well. She noticed small scars tracing her once blemished free face. She laughed quietly at the intensity of Quinn's stare. "You seem fine to me." She whispered.
Quinn leaned further into Rachel's space. "Today, I'm okay."
Rachel shuddered as she felt the blondes' hot words reverberate off her. "I'm glad." She didn't speak over a whisper still. "Are we going to talk about last night?"
Quinn didn't pull back from her, she simply took Rachel's hand, slowly pulling her hand to rest on her right "leg".
She watched as Rachel traced up and down, slowly and gently. Quinn wished to herself that she could feel it. She watched as a broken smile appeared on Rachel's face, and the brunette dropped silent tears onto Quinn.
Quinn gently caught Rachel's chin and turned her face to look into her eyes. "Hey…"
Rachel sniffled, gently wiping at her tears. "I apologize, Quinn. I should have been there. I should have-"
Rachel was cut off by the pressing of Quinn's soft lips against her. She moaned gently into this and wrapped her hands into the blonde's gorgeous hair, feeling whole and complete all at once. Quinn gently pulled Rachel into her and onto her lap.
Rachel straddled her as their kiss began to become more passionate and fast paced. Quinn began to move them, picking Rachel up and setting her down on the desk, not breaking contact the whole time.
Rachel broke away first, "Quinn-" she gasped out, Quinn was tracing her hands down Rachel's body, grasping her tightly and attaching herself to the brunette's neck. "god Quinn, I-" she squeaked and laughed as Quinn purred into her neck. "Quinn, wait." This made the blonde pause and break away to stare into Rachel's eyes.
"Hmm?" She asked quietly, slightly flushed, and embarrassed.
Rachel tucked a stray blonde hair behind her ear. "Quinn, I do believe that we need to talk." She stated matter-of-factly.
Quinn nodded, moving her hands to cup Rachel's face. "Okay." She stated. They weren't in high school anymore. They were adults and she knew that her communication was much better now that she had aged. Her hormones obviously hadn't aged, she was worse than a teenage boy.
Rachel kissed Quinn once more as the bell rang. She stood and straightened her clothes. Quinn smirked at this, which made Rachel blush brightly. "Can I come see you tonight?"
Quinn felt herself darken now, knowing Rachel wanted to talk, but her mind couldn't help but drift. "Yes, of course."
Rachel nodded, looking anywhere but at Quinn. "Excellent!" She cleared her throat, backing out of the office. "I will see you then!"
The office door closed behind her as Quinn slammed down into the chair behind her, releasing a loud sigh. "Fuck…" She exhaled.
As Quinn walked down the hallway and past the Glee club, she couldn't help but slow herself. She peered in as Rachel spoke to the group of teens, watching as passion filled her eyes explaining the duets that were upcoming. Quinn smiled but felt eyes on her. She caught the eyes of Kitty who smiled briefly at her. She smiled back, noticing that she was seated next to Marley.
Hopefully things worked out for the girl. But Quinn wasn't a counselor and didn't feel like she could offer much more advice.
Quinn continued to walk down the hallway and out the backdoors, where Judy waited for her daughter.
At home, Quinn was more than a little nervous. She had told her mother that Rachel would be coming over, which didn't surprise her mother. Judy said that some weekends Rachel would come over to talk and just hangout. Quinn didn't understand where the relationship came from but she was happy that they had each other.
"I suspected that perhaps she was trying to find out more about you at first." Judy stated as they were in the kitchen cooking together. Her mom was wearing an apron with her dog's face on it. Quinn laughed to herself at this, as said dog laid outside of the kitchen, sleepily watching Judy move about the kitchen. "I wasn't bothered by this, hand me that knife please," Quinn passed her mother said knife, "I think we both just missed you so much that we needed to be around someone else who understood."
"I'm sorry mom." Quinn began.'
Judy set the knife down for a moment, then looked up at her daughter. "None of that was your fault. I know that you swore a duty, one you had to uphold." The older woman began chopping away again, "We found comfort in each other's company, and she helped me rescue Moe from the neighbors." Judy looking lovingly at the beagle that was still laying sleepily outside of the kitchen. He began wagging his tail and ran towards Judy who began to pet him immediately. "Who's the best boy?" She asked, laughing as he wagged his tail happily and jumped at her.
Quinn smiled at this. "He's a good boy, and here I thought he was your mortal enemy!" Quinn laughed.
Judy stood and straightened, turning to get his treats out. "He was…but it turns out we were both simply lonely." She bent down and gave him a treat, which he happily took and trotted away with. Judy began to wash her hands to continue prepping the meal.
"Let me, mom." Quinn went to where Judy was and began to finish the prep.
Judy gave Quinn a gently kiss to the head as she walked past Quinn, drying her hands and grabbing a few more ingredients from cupboards. "I'm happy that you're home."
Quinn looked to her mom, not paying attention, and cutting her hand. "Shit!"
"Quinne, language!" Judy said as she rushed to her daughter and guided her to the sink, washing her hand. "It's no too bad." Judy soothed her.
Quinn stared at the blood, even just the small amount had her mind pulling toward an uncomfortable place. She could feel the sand hitting her face and her worlds begin to mash together.
"Quinnie?" Judy asked. Quinn could hardly hear her mom through the ringing in her ears. "Let's sit." Judy said as she guided her daughter from the kitchen out into the living room. She gently sat her daughter down. "I'll be right back." She whispered in her daughter's ear as she left.
Quinn closed her eyes tightly, trying to will the images away. She wanted to stay here, with her mother. She didn't want to go back there. She felt a slight dip next to her and a hand on her side. She smelled vanilla and then opened her eyes, expecting her mom.
She was met with dark brown eyes and a shy smile. Her ears began to stop ringing as she stared harder into Rachel's eyes. "It's all okay, Quinn." Rachel assured her.
"Where's my mom?" Quinn asked.
"Getting water." Rachel said. Judy appeared and handed a glass of water to Quinn. The blond smiled shyly and sipped the water.
Rachel was tracing small patterns on Quinn's leg. The blonde focused on this feeling, and it began to ground her. She sighed and heard Rachel giggle.
Judy spoke softly, "I'll be in the kitchen."
Quinn opened her eyes again and looked to Rachel who looked at her with such love, she thought. But ever since New York…she knew Rachel didn't love her that way. Not anymore.
"Better?" Rachel asked softly.
Quinn shook her head.
"Good." She didn't move her hand, instead, she moved closer. "Quinn, we should talk about this." Rachel tried softly. "I know that this is hard…"
Quinn froze. She didn't want to do this; she didn't want to explain this to Rachel. "Okay." Quinn said softly. "What do you want to know?"
Rachel stared softly, "Everything. Quinn, I'm sorry. I…I should have been there. But I can't change our past. I can simply ask to be in our future."
Quinn smiled at her hands, not being able to look at Rachel, "Our future, huh?" She looked up at Rachel then.
Rachel blushed, "If you want that, too."
Quinn gently reached for the brunettes' hands. "Of course, I do."
Gunshots erupted around her, the bodies of her brothers and sisters lay strewn across the ground. Quinn couldn't see anything; smoke clouded the air and she couldn't catch her breath. She looked down and saw her leg barely attached. She screamed, she began to drag herself across the cold, hard ground. She couldn't move fast enough. She could hear footsteps approaching her. She could feel herself clawing the hard ground, her body unable to get away. She turned around and screamed "PLEASE NO!"
Quinn aggressively sat up in bed, not noticing right away that Rachel was holding onto her, gently cradling. "Quinn! Oh, Quinn it's okay." Rachel said softly as Quinn made eye contact with her.
"I..I have no idea where I was. I mean I was there but I'm here now." Quinn stared confused at Rachel. She was sweating and out of breath. "I'm sorry." She whispered into Rachel's ear as the brunette pulled her into her.
The pair laid back into the bed, Quinn resting her head on top of Rachel's chest. The singer slowly ran her fingers through her hair. "Don't ever apologize." Rachel replied. Rachel sat quietly, enjoying the feeling of Quinn laying on top of her. She recounted Quinn talking to her after dinner that night, quietly explaining everything that had happened. Rachel was at a loss for words, wishing she had a way to comfort Quinn. "I'm sorry I wasn't there for you." Rachel cried gently into the blonde's hair.
Quinn didn't notice this as she had escaped back into sleep.
Rachel held Quinn throughout the night, thinking about the intimacy they had shared that night.
Rachel had stared at Quinn as she made her way into the bedroom. "Like my digs?" Quinn said sheepishly.
Rachel stared at the other woman, wanting nothing more than to taste her. "They are very stylish, soldier." Rachel teased.
She received an eye roll at this, watching as Quinn took her bra off and slipped her t-shirt over her head. "You can sleep here with me," Quinn eyed Rachel slightly, "unless you'd prefer somewhere else?"
Rachel locked eyes with Quinn, she felt that it was almost a dare. She couldn't help her eyes flitting to scan the woman's toned body.
Quinn laughed lightly, turning fully to Rachel. Quinn was now shirtless, braless, and closing the distance between the two. She stopped right in front of Rachel. "Sorry, the military kind of broke me of the embarrassment of being naked." She smirked at Rachel.
Rachel reached out and ran her hands up the blonde's stomach. She felt her involuntarily shudder at this action. ""You should never be embarrassed, you're stunning." Rachel breathed heavily. She traced a deep indent that was against Quinns bicep. "What's this?" She asked, not looking away.
Quinn nuzzled against Rachel, brushing her face against the woman's, she felt her gasp slightly. "I was shot there." She felt Rachel grasp tightly to her arm.
"Quinn…" Rachel breathed out. "I-I'm sorry. I don't know what else to say."
Quinn took this moment to trace her hands against the shorter woman. She began to tug on her clothing. "You don't have to say anything." She replied. She closed the distance between them, crushing their lips together, moaning at the feeling of Rachel gasp into her mouth. She instinctively backed them into the bed, feeling strange as her prosthetic hit the edge of the bed. She continued kissing Rachel though, and began to work her hands under her shirt, feeling her toned muscle and smooth skin slowly raise with chills.
Rachel flipped them, noticing Quinn begin to Quiver above her. She straddled Quinn on the bed, smiling down at her, she removed her shirt and then hastily, her bra.
"Fuck!" Quinn pleaded. "You're so beautiful," She stared at Rachel with so much love that Rachel felt a ping in her chest.
Quinn immediately began to kiss up Rachel's body, loving the sounds of gasping and pleading as she cupped Rachel's breasts and sucked gently on her nipples, biting occasionally. "Tell me what you want." Quinn purred.
Rachel snapped out of her haze and grabbed Quinn's arms, pinning them above her head. She smiled down at her and kissed her several times. "You." She replied. "It's always been you." Quinn smiled, her chin quivering at this. "I never stopped loving you, Quinn." Rachel whispered to Quinn.
Quinn leaned forward kissing her heatedly. "Prove it." She spoke against her lips.
Quinn woke with Rachel holding her tightly, stroking her hair gently. She took this moment to sigh happily. "I love you." Quinn spoke gently. She could hear Rachel's heart rate increase at this.
"I love you too, Quinn."
