Chapter 6: Blackout

John decided that the universe hated him. There was no other explanation for what was going on. After six months, he was finally going to get to see Cam. But then there was an electrical fluctuation from a storm and all of a sudden...the entire city lost power. This meant that Elizabeth had demanded that everyone stay in their quarters. There was no way that they could use the transporters to get around, and the last thing that she wanted was people wandering around the city, in the dark. She called it an unnecessary risk. So, although he knew that Cameron was somewhere in the city, probably hold up in temporary quarters he couldn't talk to him or see him. He flopped down on his bed, flinging an arm over his eyes. He was well aware that he was acting like a sulking teenager. He didn't care. He and Cam rarely got to see each other as is. This was not how he had wanted to spend their date night.

He abandoned his bed for his balcony. He knew that the three moons that he could see wouldn't give enough light to do much, but he had always enjoyed the view from this particular spot. That was partly why he chose the room. That was something that not many people understood, as the Commanding Officer of the military a lot of people thought that he should have gotten a bigger room. He had known, right from the beginning that he probably wouldn't be spending a whole lot of time in his quarters so he failed to see why he would need the extra space. And once he saw the view, he was sold.

However, now with his sullen mood not even the view could cheer him up. He walked back into his room. He had decided that since he couldn't so anything he might as well try to sleep. He had been trying for all of half an hour when he heard a crash from his balcony. He was instantly on high alert. He grabbed his side arm from where he had put it on the table, and as quietly as he could he made his way to the wall beside the door of his balcony. He knew that the darkness would give him some cover, he just hoped it would be enough. Considering that he had no idea what would be waiting for him.

The door to the balcony slid open and John threw himself at his attacker. As there was a mad scramble, he realized, belatedly that it was Cam. He smirked and helped his boyfriend up from the floor. "Cam, I thought that Elizabeth told everyone to stay in their rooms?" He crossed his arms over his chest, after putting his gun back on the table.

Cam just shrugged. "I was bored. And my balcony is practically right beside yours. I knew that if I was careful I could just scale the balcony and surprise you." Cam took in the rumpled bedding. "And I'm guessing that in pure John Sheppard fashion you were sulking like a teenage girl."

John just shrugged, while rubbing the back of his neck. "I only get to see you once every 6-12 months. And even that is only for a week or two at the most. I just wanted to make the most out of the time that we have together, I can't really do that if I am not even allowed out of my room."

Cam knew that John rubbed the back of his neck when he was either nervous or embarrassed. He was guessing that this time it was embarrassment. After all, they had worked very hard to get John comfortable enough to share his feelings. And Cam knew that this was still something that he struggled with. He decided to end John's misery as he pulled him in for a kiss. It started out soft, just a press of lips. But John decided that enough was enough. He opened his mouth, barely rubbing his tongue against the seam of Cam's lips. But that was all of the encouragement that Cam needed. As he opened his mouth to let his tongue play with John's, he started walking them back towards the bed.

As they fell onto the bed together, John laughed. "Well, seeing as the power is out and not likely to go back on any time soon, I'm guessing that you thought of something else that we can do to pass the time?"

Cam snaked his hand up John's shirt as he twisted a nipple and licked the shell of one pointed ear. "I can definitely think of a few things." As John started working on Cam's pants, he couldn't help but think that maybe the power should go out more often.
