The Case of the K-9 Caper!
Today, our heroes find themselves traveling in the forest, heading towards Cinnabar Island, sight of the next Pokémon Gym. There, our heroes hope to win their seventh badge but this forest isn't peaceful as it seems.
"Stop, thief!"
Everyone stops walking as they looked around for a thief.
"Do you guys see the thief?" July asked.
"I don't think Team Rocket or Team Neo is here." Jovan said, scanning the area. He turns around and notices a thief with a bag and a gun.
"That must be the thief." Seth said.
"Go Pikachu." Ash said to him.
"Pika!" Pikachu nodded. "Pi..." Pikachu notices the gun. "Pikapi!" Pikachu cowers behind Ash.
"What's wrong, Pikachu?"
"Attack!"
A Growlithe landed in front of the trainers and started growling at the thief.
"Sick him, Growlithe!"
The thief tried to run away, but Growlithe tackles him to knock the gun out of his hand.
"All right, Pikachu, Thunder Shock!" Ash ordered.
Pikachu jumps off Ash's shoulder and sent out his Thunder Shock to the thief, shocking him.
"All right, Pikachu!" Ash smiled. "Show that thief who's boss!"
Then they all a heard whistle. Several Growlithe appeared and quickly surrounds them. They started to growl at the trainers.
"Why are they growling at us?" Jovan wondered.
July notices Officer Jenny and two officers rushing to the thief.
"How awful. Are you ok?" Jenny asks him.
"Aw yeah." The thief spoke. "I think so."
Jenny looks at them with an angry look. "Just what do you think you're doing interfering with us?"
"What?" Seth gasps.
"We were only trying to help you catch that thief." Jovan explains to them.
"He's not a thief." Jenny said, standing up and placing her hands on hips. "He's a police officer training our K-9 Police Unit."
"K-9 Police?" Ash asked.
"These are K9 Police Pokémon." Jenny explains.
Everyone took out their Poké Dex.
"Growlithe, the Puppy Pokémon. While loyal to its master, the Growlithe will drive away enemies by barking and biting."
"Looks like these Growlithe are perfect Pokémon to join the police as a K-9 Unit." Anna smiled.
Brock attempted to pet one of them, but Growlithe growls at him, making Ash, Brock, and Misty scared.
"They may look cute, but they do not want to be petted by a complete stranger." Seth said.
"Don't worry." Jenny said. "The Growlithe won't bite unless I order them to attack. Growlithe, line up!"
"Growl!"
The Growlithe lined up and sits in front of Jenny, smiling at the trainers.
"These people are our new friends." Jenny announced. "Say hello, K-9 Squad!"
"Growl!" The Growlithe greeted them.
"They're so cute!" Misty smiled.
"Awesome!" Jovan smiled.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket and Team Neo were spying them from the trees.
"Would you look at that?" Libby smiled. "A whole pack of police Pokémon." Libby smiled. "Our boss would love that."
"But who knows if their bark is worse than their bite." Justin said.
"I have the perfect plan to capture those puppies." James said, looking at his teammates.
"That sounds great." Jessie smiled.
"That sounds familiar." Meowth added.
It was late in the afternoon as Officer Jenny was bringing the kids with hot chocolate. "You kids must be exhausted." Jenny said. "I hope you'll be able to eat something." She watches in amazement as the kids were eating their food. "I guess that won't be a problem."
"Did you see how the Growlithe tackled that guy, Brock?" Ash asks Brock after chewing his food. "It was better than Pikachu."
"But Ash, the officer who was playing the thief had a gun." Seth explains. "You can't expect Pikachu to attack somebody like that."
"Slade is right." Misty said, making Ash to look at her. "I bet you never even thought how badly Pikachu could've been hurt."
"Of course I did!" Ash exclaims.
"Having a Pokémon taking on an armed opponent is very dangerous." Jenny explains. "Unless it has special training."
"I guess that's true." Ash said, setting his bowl of rice on his tray. "So far I've only used my Pokémon to capture other Pokémon."
"I hope you're not thinking to have Pikachu train with the Growlithe." Seth said.
"What's wrong with that idea?" Ash asked them. "It'll only make Pikachu stronger. Officer Jenny, will you please train my Pikachu the way you trained those Growlithe?"
"Well, this school is only for training Growlithe." Jenny replied. "We can't just admit any Pokémon."
"Maybe Pikachu isn't cut out for that kind of training." Brock said.
Ash looks at him. "You keep saying you want to be the world's best Pokémon Breeder." Ash said. "Don't you, Brock?"
"Well sure, of course I do."
"Then I want to be the world's greatest Pokémon Trainer." Ash said determined. "I also want my Pikachu to be the very best it can possibly be."
"Well, if you really want your Pikachu to be the best, why don't you bring Pikachu to our training class tomorrow?" Jenny suggested.
"Do you mean it?" Ash asked with a smile on his face as he stands up from his chair. "You hear that Pikachu?" He looks down and notice Pikachu wasn't on the table.
Jovan looks down to right and notice Pikachu was laying on the floor.
"How about you?" Jenny asks Jovan. "Do you want to join your friend too?"
"I think I like my Dragonair just the way it is." Jovan smiled. "Right Dragonair?"
"Nair." Dragonair shook her head. "Nair Dragonair."
"You want to join the training too?"
"Nair." Dragonair nodded.
"Alright then." Jovan smiled. "Looks like we training to do."
Everyone was sleeping in their own beds in three different rooms. July, Seth, Anna, Slade and Eevee were sleeping in their room as Jovan and Dragonair was sleeping in their own room. Jovan was sleeping on the top bunk as Dragonair was sleeping on the bottom bunk. As the two of them were sleeping, Anna walks into their room.
"Hey Jovan!" Anna cried.
Jovan bolted up to sit up and looks as at Anna. "Anna..." Jovan yawned. "What time is it?"
"It's four in the morning." Anna answered. "Jenny woke us up as well."
"Really? It's too early. I'm going back to bed."
"Oh no you don't." Anna said, grabbing him. "Your class starts early in the morning." She begins to roll him out of bed but she slips backwards and the two of landed on the floor with Jovan and the blanket on top of her.
"Alright, I'm up..." Jovan groaned. He let out another yawn.
"The sooner you get up, the better will no one have to see this."
July, Vul and Eevee walks inside the room. She notices her friend and brother staring at the three of them. "Oh, I'm sorry." July apologizes. "I didn't know you two wanted to spend some time alone."
Vul and Eevee nodded in agreement.
"We'll let you two sleep a couple more minutes since you love each other so much." July teased. "I'll ask Brock if he can make a breakfast heart shaped for a cute couple like yourself." She turns around and leave the room, followed by Vul and Eevee.
"It's not what it looks like, July!" Anna shouted, her face turning red.
After everyone had an early breakfast, they were all standing outside near the obstacle course.
"Ok, first I'm going to test you two on the obstacle course." Jenny said to Jovan and Ash.
"Does that mean we're going to be running with our Pokémon too?" Jovan asked her.
"That's right." Jenny smiled. "A master will never be respected if he won't do something until he has his own Pokémon to do."
"Really?" Ash asked nervously.
"Don't you worry." Jenny assured them "I'll be running with you too."
Seth chuckled. "I bet Ash is having second thoughts about this."
"I wonder if this police training will be too tough for him." Misty wondered.
"Maybe." Slade nodded.
Ash, Pikachu, Jenny, Growlithe, Jovan and Dragonair readied themselves at the starting line.
"Ready... go!" Jenny yelled.
The three teams began running while Dragonair flew close to the ground. Jovan ran a bit farther than Growlithe and Jenny. He notices a wire net coming up. "We have to go under the wires, Dragonair!" Jovan called out to her.
"Nair!" Dragonair nodded.
The two of the dives underneath and proceeded to crawl and slither underneath the wire. After the two of them were done, a high wall stood in their path.
"Dragonair, fly over it to get to the other side." Jovan said to Dragonair.
"Nair?"
"Don't worry." Jovan said. "I have an idea." He took several steps back and got on all fours and began to run towards the wall. Jovan jumps onto the wall and began to climb. Dragonair flew to the top of the wall and watches her trainer climb. He made it to the top and got to the other side with Dragonair.
After they were done, Ash was sitting on the ground sighing. Pikachu and Jovan were sitting on the blue bench next to him.
"This K-9 Police Training is tough, Ash." Slade said to him. "You still want to keep going through this?"
"Of course, I'm going through with it." Ash said. "I want Pikachu to be the very best."
"Don't you think Pikachu is a great Pokémon just the way it is?"
"Yeah, Pikachu is great. But I want it to be tough as Growlithe. That's what you want too, isn't Pikachu?"
"Pika." Pikachu sighed.
All of a sudden, they heard an explosion. They all rushed to the front of the building where they are greeted by a giant smoke cloud.
"What's going on?" Jovan wondered.
The smoke cleared to reveal a Growlithe bus.
"Prepare for trouble!"
"And make it double!"
"To protect the world from devastation!"
"To unite all peoples within our nation!"
"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"
"To extend our reach to the stars above!"
"Jessie!"
"James!"
"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!"
"Surrender now, or prepare to fight!"
"Meowth dat's right!"
Justin was sitting in the bus with him as Libby and Sam stood behind Jessie and James.
"Growl!" Growlithe barked as all the Growlithe surrounded Team Rocket and Team Neo.
"Team Rocket and Team Neo." Jenny said as she took a step forward.
"They wouldn't try to steal these Pokémon." Anna said.
"It's insane to break into a school for police K-9." Seth said. "They're practically begging to get arrested."
"These Police Pokémon really give me the creep." Meowth said, looking at the angry Growlithe and looks up. "Can't we steal other Pokémon that are cat friendly?"
"You coward!" Jessie growled. "You can do anything once we get our hands on these Growlithe."
"They will do whatever order." Libby explains. "They'll rob banks wherever we go and steal artifacts from museums."
"That will make us the richest criminals of all time!" Sam smiled.
"Luckily that dream will not come true." Jenny said. "These Growlithe won't do anything to break the law."
The villains put on their gas mask.
"Don't count on it." Jessie smiled evilly.
Jenny gasps.
Jessie takes out a gas gun as James was holding a Gloom tank.
"Hope you're ready to take on this gas." Sam said.
Jessie fired the gas. Everyone began coughing.
"Now those Growlithe won't use their noses." Jessie said.
"Let's bring out the big guns." Sam said, handing another tank to James. The tank had a picture of a Psyduck.
"Get a load of this!" Libby shouted. She hooks the hose to the gun and Jessie fired a purple gas at them.
"What kind of gas is this?" Meowth asks in a high pitch voice. Then he notices his voice was high pitched.
"The one that make our voices high and squeaky." Justin replied.
"Why do I sound a like a chipmunk?" Jovan wondered, checking his voice.
"They used that gas to make our voices go high and squeaky." Anna explains.
"Now this plan is working just the way we want." Libby smiled.
"Well, we did hit the high note." James added.
"I don't know what you're planning, but I'm placing you under arrest for trespassing." Jenny said. "Alright, Growlithe, round them up!" She noticed they're not listening to her.
"Growl?"
"What's the matter Growlithe? Arrest them!"
"This isn't good." Anna said. "The Growlithe won't listen to Jenny because her voice has changed."
"And the Growlithe can't use their sense of smell and understand Jenny's orders." Seth added.
"Finally, our plan is working." Justin smiled.
"Let's start Phase Two." Sam said to them.
"Alright then." James smiled. "A little changing music!"
Two curtains surrounded them. The villains started to changed. When the curtains dropped, Jessie, James, Libby and Sam were wearing police uniforms and has a megaphone in their hands.
"Ta da!" Libby exclaims before they looked at him.
"Only one thing left to do." Sam said.
"The synthesizer will make our voices sound just like Jenny." Libby said, turning the nob on the megaphone. "Sit, Growlithe!"
All the Growlithe heard Jenny's voice and sits down.
"Beg, Growlithe!" Libby ordered.
The Growlithe begged.
"Now lie down!" Libby commanded.
Then the Growlithe lied down on the ground.
"What's wrong with you?! That's not me!" Jenny explains to them, looking at the Growlithe. "Don't listen to them!"
"Growlthe!" Sam exclaims. "Place that woman under house arrest!"
The Growithe stands up and looks at Jenny.
"No, please!" Jenny begged them.
Four Growlithe tied her up quickly.
"That wraps things up." Jessie said to her teammates before jumping down to the side of the van. "Line up Growlithe!"
The Growlithe runs over to Team Rocket and Team Neo.
"No, don't go!" Jenny told them, but it was no use.
They all sat down in front of Jenny and Libby.
"Open the hatch!" Sam tells Justin and Meowth.
"Got it!" Justin pressed a button to open the side door.
"Let's get in the van!" Libby ordered the Growlithe.
"Stop!" Jovan shouted, running up behind the Growlithe. "You're not taking these Growithe!"
"How will you stop us, squeaky?" Libby asks them.
"Let's teach them a lesson before we leave." Sam suggested.
"I like it." Libby smiled. "Growlithe, turnabout and arrest them!"
The trainers became surrounded as all the Growlithe was growling at them.
"Uh oh!" Ash gasps. "I know! We'll use our Pokémon to battle them! AH!"
"What's wrong now, Ash?" Brock asks Ash.
"I left my Poké Balls behind!" Ash answered.
"I didn't bring mine!" Brock tells him.
"I left mine in my backpack!" Misty added.
Slade looks at Jovan. "Please tell me you brought your Poké Balls too." Slade said.
"Oh yeah." Jovan said, reaching for a Poké Ball. But he didn't feel the surface of the metal sphere. "Oh no! I left my Poké Balls in my room!"
"My Poké Balls are in your room too!" Anna exclaims to him
"Same thing with us!" July added.
"We're in trouble." Ash said.
"Heh heh!" James chuckled.
"Don't let the bad criminals get away, Growlithe!" Libby commanded.
Pikachu and Dragonair sent out a Thunderbolt in front of Growlithe. Pikachu lands near Ash's feet while Dragonair flew above her trainer's head.
"This should be a perfect chance to get Pikachu." Justin said.
"Talk about lucky." Sam said.
"Then let's see how it is." Libby smirks.
Jessie and Libby quickly got back into the changing room and ran back out wearing the same clothes as Jovan and Jovan.
"Come on Dragonair, we're leaving with Pikachu and the Growlithe." Libby said with Jovan's voice.
Dragonair lands in front of Jovan and looks at him.
"Don't let them trick you, Dragonair." Jovan said to her.
"He's lying, Dragonair." Libby said.
Dragonair closes her eyes for a moment before opening them and wrapping her tail around Jovan.
"What?!" Sam gasps.
"Nair." Dragonair purred.
"She knew." Anna smiled.
"Dragonair won't be fooled by fake a voice." Seth said.
"Who cares?" Jessie growled.
The two girls ran and changed back into Jenny's uniforms.
"Growlithe, get that Pikachu and Dragonair with their trainers now!" Libby ordered.
"Growl!" several Growlithe growled, jumping towards them.
Pikachu and Dragonair took to the air and fired their Thunderbolt at the Growlithe.
"Growl!" several of them cried out as they fall onto the ground.
"Stop messing around and get them!" Jessie ordered.
No matter how many times the Growlithe kept attacking, they keep hitting the ground every time. After the eighth time, Pikachu fell sideways, causing Ash to run towards Pikachu.
"Please, tell me what's wrong, Pikachu." Ash said, picking him up. "You're dizzy for using too much electricity!"
"Dragonair, you're doing okay?" Jovan asks her, running up to her side.
"Nair!" Dragonair nodded.
"Growl!" the Growlithe growled.
"This isn't good." Jovan said.
Then Jigglypuff walks in between Ash and the Growlithe before bowing. "Jigglypuff." Jigglypuff sang but stops when it notices no one listened to the song and walks away.
"Huh." Jovan said.
Jenny finished untying herself from the rope and runs up to her Growlithe. "Listen to me, Growlithe!" Jenny exclaims to them. "Team Rocket and Team Neo are the bad guys!"
All the Growlithe looks at her with a confused expression on their faces.
"This doesn't look good." Sam tells Libby.
"Take care of them!" Libby ordered.
"Growl!" Growlithe shouted, jumping towards Jenny.
"Ah!" Jenny gasps. She raised her hand.
Growlithe bites down on her right hand. While the two were staring at each other, Growlithe remembers how Jenny treated it with love, compassion and kindness. It releases Jenny's hand and licks it a couple times before hugging Jenny and the police officer returns the hug to it.
"Growlithe, you remember me." Jenny smiled as it licks her face.
"You're not supposed to lick her!" Libby yells at them. "Attack!"
All the Growlithe turns around to Team Rocket and Team Neo, growling.
"We're not your enemy!" Libby tells them.
"Listen to us, you dimwit dogs!" Sam ordered.
The Growlithe kept growling.
Meowth and Justin watches them changing their voices.
"Growl at them, not us!" Libby said with Sam's voice.
"You're using my voice!" Sam yells at her with Libby's voice.
"I told you to get us, not them!" Libby shouted with Justin's voice. Then she realized what she said. "Oh no."
"Growl!" Growlithe growled.
"I knew this wouldn't work!" Meowth yelled.
"Steo on it!" Justin told him.
Meowth stepped on the gas and drove off.
Jessie, James, Libby and Sam notice the van driving off.
"Where are you going?!" Libby yelled.
"Come back!" Sam shouted.
"I knew you were a scaredy cat!" Justin shouted, looking at the mirror.
"Growli!" Four Growlithe growled jumping towards them causing them to turn around and gasps. The four Growlithe bites down on their butts, causing them to turn around and run away yelling.
"Get us out of here!" Justin yelled as the van drove through the wall with Jessie, James, Libby and Sam chasing them as the Growlithe lets got of their butts.
"Don't leave us here!" Sam cried out.
After Team Rocket and Team Neo were out of sight, Jenny kneels down and smiles at all the Growlithe as the trainers walks over to them and smiled.
An hour has passed and everyone's voices were back to normal. The trainers stood in front of Jenny and her K-9 Unit at the front gate.
"I've sure made a mistake." Ash said, looking at Pikachu on his shoulder. "Pikachu doesn't need to train on the squad to become the perfect Pokémon."
"Pikachu." Pikachu smiled.
Ash looks back at Jenny. "I like Pikachu just the way it is." Ash said.
"The four of you recognize what's in each other's hearts and that's what counts." Jenny said. "I'll try to keep that in mind."
"Heh heh." Ash chuckled. "So will we."
"Keep up the good work, the four of you." Jenny smiled.
"I like Brock to know what's in my heart."
Ash, Pikachu, Misty and Togepi looks at Brock using the same megaphone.
"Brock is so good looking." Brock said, using Jenny's voice. "And he's so talented. I just love him so much. Brock is the coolest."
"You are pathetic." Misty growled.
"Oh..." Brock moans.
"Ha ha!" Jenny laughs.
"Oh Anna, I'm so happy that we're going out with each other."
"I always knew you are the one for me, Jovan."
Jenny stops laughing. Everyone turns their attention towards Jovan and Anna.
"We didn't say anything." Jovan said.
Anna turns around to see July and Slade using the megaphone.
"July!" Jovan yelled, his face turning red.
"When did you two start going out?" Misty teases her and Jovan.
"Misty!" Anna gasps, her face turning red.
"Anna and I are not going out!" Jovan exclaims to his sister.
"I think you are after what July saw this morning." Slade chuckled.
"July!" Jovan and Anna yelled.
July and Slade quickly turns around and started to run, laughing with Jovan and Anna running after them.
Everyone left the station and continued walking down on the path to Cinnabar Island.
A strong thread joins Ash, Pikachu, Jovan and Dragonair's hearts together. It is a bond of friendship that will keep them safe no matter what lies on the road ahead. With their courage renewed, our heroes continued their journey to Cinnabar Island and their next exciting Pokémon adventure. Uh oh.
Brock, July and Slade dropped the megaphones as they were walking. Meanwhile, Jigglypuff walks out of the bushes and notices the megaphones.
"Jigglypuff!" it smiled.
