"Wait, Wait, Wait, Mr. Joestar...lemme get this straight." Koi starts, before sighing. "So your telling me this 'Dio' is a 100 year old vampire that took your grandfather's body. On top of that, is the reason why Stands exist" She recaps, while talking with Joseph while waiting for Kakyoin to wake up, holding one of many Joseph's dark spirit photos of Dio
Joseph only nods, "Precisely. But let me ask you this kid" He looks to her, rather serious. "What do you have to do with this?" He questions.
"Well Mr. Joestar, I have reason to believe that Dio sent Kakyoin or someone else to kill my father" Koi states.
"Your father's dead? Wasn't he okay yesterday?" Avdol questions, surprise evident.
"He was. But I came home and he was in his room dead. Ended up staying with my mom. My parents are divorced" Koi explains.
"I see, but what does whats going on have to do with you?" Joseph questions.
"Kakyoin mentioned that Dio knew of my Hamon
... and that it was a threat to him" Koi recalls crossing her arms.
"So that means he has been watching your family for awhile but now bears the question if you have a stand" Avdol glances to Koi.
"I don't know... but I could see Jotaro's and Kakyoin's. I could also see Avdol's back at the prison" Koi answers.
Avdol and Joseph look to each other in confusion as to how Koi could see stands was possible supposedly without one of her own. "If Dio really is behind your father's death, then it's possible he's after you too" Joseph thought.
"But should we help Kakyoin? He's not exactly waking up..." Koi looks over to the unconscious Kakyoin.
"Well, that's just the problem. There's no way we could" Joseph says, pulling back some of Kakyoin's hair to reveal some sort of growth on his forehead.
Koi and Jotaro looked at the growth curiously. "Looks almost like a tumor..." Koi observes.
"That is a flesh bud made of Dio's cells. It has implanted itself in his brain and allows him to transmission his thoughts to control the victim." Joseph explains as Koi looks shocked. She didn't know what to think about this new discovery.
"Is-... Is there a way to remove it? You said it was made of Dio's cells... couldn't you simply use Hamon to get rid of it?" Koi questions, wanting to help Kakyoin. Joseph chuckles as he shakes his head, "It's not that easy" Joseph answers with a small sigh. Joseph knew Koi and Jotaro probably had alot of questions as they were both still very new to all of this.
"Good Grief, of course it's not..." Jotaro sighs.
"It's embedded into his brain... one wrong move and it could kill him" Avdol informs as Koi looks saddened by this news before gaining an idea.
"Eh, Jotaro... your stand is precise and fast enough to catch an oncoming bullet right?" Koi looks to her friend, seeing if he could put together what she was thinking. Joseph and Avdol looked to each other in confusion as to what Koi was planning and why she needed Jotaro's Stand to help.
Jotaro took a moment to think before nodding to her question. Koi nods back "Maybe it's possible to pull it out and once fully extracted, either Mr. Joestar or I could kill the flesh bud in Kakyoin's brain using Hamon." She theorizes.
"Are you trying to kill the man faster Koi?" Joseph scolds clearly opposed to the idea. Koi shakes her head, "If Jotaro's Stand can catch a bullet at almost point blank range, it can pull out a flesh bud like an expert surgeon. It's now or never Mr. Joestar" Koi argues as Jotaro kneels next to Kakyoin, summoning his stand and reaches for the growth on his forehead. It felt surreal. Tension, palpable in the room as Jotaro's stand grabbed it and started pulling, the growth started going into Jotaro's hand.
It surprised everyone just how much this parasite wanted to live enough to try and take another host. Kakyoin's eyes opened rather suddenly, glancing over to Jotaro as the flesh bud kept trying to manifest, closer and closer to his brain. The stand cried out as it roughly pulled out the parasite as it was tossed like a ragdoll.
"Overdrive!" Joseph used his hamon to lay waste to the controlling parasite, destroying it for good. Relief washed over the group as Kakyoin was alive and mostly well. Koi got to work, patching up the wound on his forehead shortly after things calmed down.
"Thank you. I really appreciate it Koi" Kakyoin states softly, still recuperating from what transpired. Koi looked over to Kakyoin, not saying a word; having suspicions of her own that the man he was helping killed her father. She gives a silent nod in response, not sure what to say now that he was awake.
"I have questions Kakyoin... regarding what happened" Koi admits in a dull tone. Kakyoin glances to Koi curiously, almost like he was deducing her; as if he already knew what she was going to ask.
"If what you're going to ask is about your father, I was the one that killed him" He admits sadly as the room suddenly looks eyes onto him. He killed her father? How? Why? Kakyoin sighs softly, "However during that time, I was under Dio's control. Your father also wasn't the intended target either... and was killed in self defense" He adds, trying to defend himself. Koi could hardly believe what she was hearing. Her heart raced, hearing Kakyoin's explanation that her father wasn't the intended target.
"Then, if I may ask, who was?" Jotaro buts in, digging his hands into his pockets. Silence fell into the room. Everyone knew collectively that Dio was responsible for Fred Kitsune's death, using an accessory to carry out the act. That accessory was Kakyoin. He claimed it was in self-defense. Did her father try to hurt Kakyoin after realizing why he broke into their home? It seemed the most logical. Everyone's eyes widened in realization as to who the real intended target was.
"It... It was me, wasn't it?" Koi asks softly, almost afraid of the startling realization that collectively fell over the group. Kakyoin could only gravely nod in response. Koi felt terrified, feeling lightheaded in that moment. Why did Dio want someone not even related to the Joestar bloodline dead?
"It's because you know Hamon Koi" Joseph states matter-of-factly, going to the most obvious reasoning. "I taught your father what he knows and in turn, he passed that down to you. He wasn't the best student, but he still got the fundamentals down rather easily" he adds simply. Koi looks down, still processing what information she had received. "I-... I think I need a moment. Excuse me" Koi states as she walks out of the room to try and process things.
The room fell into silence once more. "Well, that could've gone better..." Joseph states, clearing his throat. Avdol shakes his head gently as he sighs softly "Could've been worse as well. But do you think they'll want to help us track down Dio too?" He asks.
"It'd be dangerous to have them join, and they don't have a Stand. It'd be risky. Stand users are unpredictable to put it simply" Joseph clearly putting it out the question.
"However, they can still see stands like Mom could back at the police station. They also helped saved that nurse with no hesitation. So it's very possible that their stand is manifesting, but has not made it's appearance. It's also clear they won't go down without a fight." Jotaro argues in his usual monotone.
"I vaguely remember feeling Koi's hamon energy through my Stand, Hierophant Green. Which is strange on it's own, but rather impressive regardless." Kakyoin taking Jotaro's side. Kakyoin adds, "You can't make history without taking a few risks Mr. Joestar."
Those words struck a chord with Joseph, recalling his own experiences when he was younger. The risks he took, the friends he made and lost. The formidable foes he had to fight then. He sighs softly, Kakyoin and Jotaro making decent points on their own. Avdol also nods "Having someone who can harm directly will prove beneficial. Plus in terms of Hamon skill level, you have no clue. If Dio took notice, they may have some hidden talent"
"Oi, who's side are you on Avdol?! If you're suggesting I become their Hamon teacher, it's out of the question. I haven't used my Hamon at it's fullest in decades" Joseph tries to justify.
"Sounds like excuses to me" Jotaro chuckles, Joseph rather surprised at this response. Kakyoin then comes up with an idea, "Then why not this Mr. Joestar: A simple sparing match. You against Koi, just Hamon and battle experience. That way you get an idea of how skilled she is with her Hamon and in turn, you gain the insight you need fully determine if you think she can be taught on the road or not" He suggests. Joseph thinks about it for a moment before stating, "I would win obviously, I have more experience than they do by a long shot. Fred only held onto the basics, so naturally Koi would also know the basics" He thinks.
"They may not win, but just because they know the basics, doesn't mean they should be underestimated. Basics in a skillset can develop into mastery" Jotaro nods as Joseph sighs "Fine, Fine. I'll spar with them I suppose. But in the meantime, we need to find where Dio is hiding. I've tried taking photo after photo but it's always too dark to where I can't see anything that would give me a location." Joseph responds, before standing up; clearly not fond with the idea of sparing with Koi, but if it gave him the insight he needed to understand Koi's skill level and potential; so be it.
