Back with the Spaniards, Barbossa, Jack and Carmella were tied up to trees next to each other. "How's the escape route going?" Jack asked Barbossa sarcastically as he looked at him.
"Here's your chance to improvise," Barbossa responded.
"Knock it off you two," Carmella sighed. "Now is not the time."
Jack calmed down before looking around in thought, "I'm attempting it. I might be able to get a hand loose." Barbossa was listening as he took off his peg leg and held it. "Oh, you got a knife. That's very good."
"Better," Barbossa said through his teeth as he pulled a cork out of the peg leg. He took the cork out of his mouth with his hand before taking a big swig from the flask hidden in his peg leg.
Jack looked amazed. "I want one of those," he said while Carmella just gave a 'really' face and shook her head. Barbossa then handed the leg over to Jack. "Here's to revenge. Sweet and clear," Jack said in a toast before taking a swig.
"Revenge?" Barbossa asked.
"It was obvious after a while," Carmella said.
"Come, come, Hector," Jack said as he moved the flask from his lips. "If you wanted the chalices, you'd seen they were missing and gone. You were lying in wait, for Blackbeard."
"Oh?" Barbossa asked in mock surprise.
"King George. Privateer. Wig," Jack listed as he gave back the peg leg flask. "Cheap theatrical facade. I'm not buying it."
"You weren't there that night," Barbossa said.
"When the Pearl was lost?" Jack asked.
"Taken, not lost," Barbossa answered. "We were off the coast of Hispaniola when we came under attack. No provocation nor warning nor offer of parley. We were peppered with cannon fire. And then the sea beneath the Pearl began to roil. The Pearl was pitching and yawing violently. Every plank, every rail, every spar, all at once, began to creak." Jack and Carmella listened as Barbossa explained that night. "The rigging had come to life. Our own ship turned against us…" He said a bit frightened. "Tangling the crew, wrapping around 'em like snakes. And wrapping around me leg." Barbossa then looked at his stub of a leg. "But me arms were free and me sword was to hand. I am the master of me ship, not Blackbeard. I am the master of my fate, not Blackbeard. So I did what needed done." He then took another swig from the peg leg flask. Jack was still silent as he listened. "I survived," Barbossa said as he put the cork back into the flask.
After Barbossa stopped talking, Carmella looked at him with a softened expression. "I just want to hug you right now," She said gently. "I knew Blackbeard could do that with his own ship, but I didn't know he could with others."
Barbossa looked back over to Carmella and gave a small smile, "Later." Barbossa then placed the flask back onto his leg like it didn't come off at all.
"So…you're not after the Fountain," Jack said.
"I care not for King George or tavern yarns that give hope for a healed limb," Barbossa replied. "But I'd give my left arm for a chance at Blackbeard."
"Not your right?" Jack asked with a tilted head.
"I need me good arm to drive my poisoned blade through his heart," Barbossa answered dramatically.
"I swear you two are so bloody dramatic," Carmella sighed in exasperation.
"We'll see you get the chance, mate," Jack said as he had removed the rope around his wrist during Barbossa's retelling. He was rubbing his wrists where the rope might have rubbed. He then showed Barbossa what he had done in a joking way before starting to shimmy his legs to try and get the rope off down there.
Carmella shook her head as she finally moved from her tree, revealing that she already had cut through the rope. When the men looked at her, she just showed the small orb of water that she had created. "You forgot?" She asked as she used the water she had collected to cut the rest of the men's ropes that bound them.
"Why didn't yee do that earlier?" Barbossa asked.
"I was waiting for Jack," Carmella said simply with a small smirk.
Jack just shook his head before making his way up the palm tree and to the very top. The tree was creaking and swaying from the weight and the wind. With the extra rope he had brought with him, he tied it around a coconut, before carefully standing up and using the momentum to throw the tied coconut around another tree. He pulled the tree towards him. The noise had gotten the Spaniards attention. Jack used the pressure of the bent tree to launch himself onto another one. He groaned as he grasped onto the prongs of the palm tree.
"PRISONER'S ESCAPING! FAN OUT AND FIND HIM!" Ordered a Spaniard soldier. This had alerted both Barbossa and Carmella. The Spaniards then followed where Jack was heading. "Hold your fire! I want him alive!"
While the two waited for a clear escape, Barbossa's Lieutenant Colonel came sneaking up behind Barbossa. He whispered to his captain, "I guess that was the signal." They then helped Barbossa up from the ground. Meanwhile, Jack had gotten a group of soldiers under a different palm tree and started to bomb them with coconuts, knocking one guy out before swinging his way down. He then threw the tied coconut to a soldier before starting to go around the palm tree, all the while dodging attacks. After a few rounds around the tree, he had captured the group of soldiers.
The two followed the Lieutenant Colonel back to where the rest were waiting and the man ordered, "Go! Prepare to move out!"
"The enemy is soon upon us!" Barbossa mentioned.
"Jack can only keep them distracted for so long," Carmella piped up. At that moment, she got her hug from Barbossa done quickly. The men then started to scramble around as they started to collect their things. A few minutes after that, Jack came sprinting up to the group.
"I'm sorry about the chalices, Jack, but I've an appointment to keep," Barbossa said as he looked at him. "I'll not be going back."
"No need," Jack said as he pulled out the two chalices from behind his back. "Shall we have a drink?" He asked jokingly.
Barbossa just shook his head before starting to head out. "We'll drink at the Fountain," He said a bit rushed. "See you and your sister later, my dear." The men then followed him while Gibbs grabbed Jack to follow with Carmella trailing behind. It was time to get Faye back.
