Chapter 5
The meeting was hell.
Then again, they are always like this. It's the same garbage, different day. But every day, they come after her.
Papa has really stepped back since the board is insisting that he does. He has retired but keeps an eye on everything. Yuko has done everything asked of her, even if she is at the domain, she keeps up with her office work and her finger on the pulse of her business and rivals. Yet, the board before her, all are aiming for her position, and they are going to use whatever leverage they can.
Her baby being the latest incident, not to mention the sudden aging of her son Kiyoshi.
"I thought your child should be no more than eight or nine. How is he fourteen? Growth hormones perhaps?" one of the vice presidents said offhandedly.
She was always a bitch to Yuko.
"Kiyoshi has had an early growth spurt, I wouldn't dare have him do anything dangerous like take growth hormones as you say. He's just like his father, that's all."
"I am certain that's the case…" muttered another from down the table.
There were twenty members before her, a good half of them have been wanting her seat for a while. The reason why she keeps them on the board is because they do their job, at the same time, she has to find proper replacements.
They don't realize that Gege has been doing that in the shadows, interviewing and training their replacements.
"I don't believe my family business is any of yours. Now, are we going to move along with the conversation?" she asked.
The table was rather startled. "Since when do you talk to us like that?!"
"Since it appears that the courtesy I have shown you is wasted. I tried to be humble about this, as well as understand everyone's perspective here. However it's bluntly clear to me that there are some who want my position and will tarnish my name to do so. So be it, but, the moment you come after my family. All bets are off!" she decreed.
The looks on their faces altered.
In fact, those who took aim for her, appear to be regretting their choices now.
She stared down the table, and yet as Ena began to cry. There came a commotion as well outside the hall.
People were rushing by the meeting room. One of the chairmen decided to ask what was happening to a passerby. "There's a kid, playing with water effortlessly, but… it's like a ball of water suspended in mid air!"
Yuko froze.
Kiyoshi knows better than to do that in the office!
Grabbing Ena, she rushed out to the playroom Papa made. People stood there armed with their phones taking video as to what was happening. Kiyoshi stood there, frozen to the attention. Tenko was with him, so something must have gotten out of hand.
She shoved her way though and went into the room. "Kiyoshi, is everyone okay?"
He could only nod to her, but, judging by the look on his face, it's the same one Yuuji makes when he knows he messed up. "Mom… I'm sorry, I didn't mean…"
"We asked him!" shouted the twins. "We wanted to see… and he didn't know… and we didn't know…" they said in a trembled voice. The twins were on the brink of tears, but Kiyoshi settled them.
"It's my fault too, I got carried away," he whispered.
Yuko was about to speak when suddenly, she saw the board of directors shoving everyone away. "You know this glass doesn't permit videos!" one of the chair people shouted.
Dejected, those who saw it all, walked away.
However, the board of directors have yet to leave. She saw the looks of greed come over their faces as they began to look at Kiyoshi oddly. "Why… Miss Ozawa… why didn't you say you had such a… talented son?"
Those who have been against her, were now eyeing Kiyoshi like a cash cow.
"We heard it all through the others and I just saw that orb of water just… vanish into thin air… the boy is hiding something, isn't he?"
Yuko stood firm. "Why should it be a concern of yours? He's MY son," she decreed.
"Oh, indeed, and as YOUR son, he can help boost profits in various areas… like agriculture… could you imagine what people would pay in drought condition to have someone summon water out of nowhere?" One said as he cleared the drool from his lip.
"Better still, third world countries! They would pay a mint to have a secure source of water!"
"SHUT UP!" Yuko roared.
Everyone jolted.
She glared at those before her. "My SON is not someone or something that can be used for profits or for gain. In fact, if ANY of you speak a word of this to ANYONE… I will make certain you never work for my company or ANY company again!"
They froze, but then, some smirked at her threat.
"Oh, really?" said the bitch chairwoman. "What are you going to do about it?"
Kiyoshi suddenly stepped forward. "Want me to curse them?"
"Kiyoshi!"
However he waved her off, he bore a small smile as he stepped forward. "And to show how serious I am…" he snapped his fingers. Of course, she couldn't see anything… that was until he noticed everyone on the board and an odd light growing from their dominate foot. "If you decide to go against my mother, this is but a taste of what COULD happen to you. I place a small curse on those before me, each and every day, you are going to stub your pinky toe hard! Crippling hard. Every… single… day. This is but a warning, since you know if I can cause something like THAT to happen to you… I can do worst"
They smirked once more. "Oh come off it little boy. You can make water but curse? Yeah! Right!" one laughed. He decided to excuse himself. He needed the facilities. Yet, on the way, he happened to hit his foot on one of the metal garbage cans.
"OW…. DAMN IT!" he roared in pain.
Suddenly, the threat appeared plausible to those of the board.
"It's a coincidence!" one stated.
Kiyoshi smirked as the board disbanded.
Once they were gone, Yuko saw a curious look come over Tenko. "Where did you learn that one? That is a curse I have not heard of before. As well, it's not curse energy you used…"
"To be honest, it was a little fun session I had with Chusi and Sukuna. They were talking about curses, apparently Chusi talked about curses one can put on another. Sukuna had evil ones mainly how people died after he cursed them, but when he heard my ideas… he thought I was even more evil than him!"
"You have more, don't you?" Yuko asked with a smile.
"Oh yeah. Like every meal, they bite their tongue in a bad way. Hangnails that you can't get rid of until you have a nail clipper and not everyone carries those. You become unbelievably itchy when your hands are gross, among other things…"
Tenko was silent. "I think I have to agree with Sukuna on this, these are evil ideas!"
"But they know!" she protested.
Tenko only smiled. "As mortals say, the proof is in the pudding, you could have a board of directors who are out to get the current CEO to say such nonsenses, but until it can be proven, it's merely gibberish."
"Is Kiyoshi in trouble?" wept Wasuke.
"No, but he IS going to be more mindful of his abilities, right?"
Kiyoshi nodded his head seriously. "I can't believe I pulled a dad…"
