After teaching Dylan self-defense, Stella takes control of the television that is in the living room and is watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine. She got so enthralled with the romance between Jake Peralta and Amy Santiago that she can vaguely hear about how Sara might have another baby.
Stella is aware of Brad's infertility issues, mainly due to her eavesdropping on her mom and stepdad (which she'll admit), but all Stella wants is to get back on watching the chaotic energy of the NYPD's 99th precinct.
"Hey, Stella. Would you pause that for a moment?" Brad calls out for her. She does just that and walks over to her mom. "What's up?"
"Maybe during your lunch break at school, your mom and I can pick you up and we can do dress shopping for Prom." Brad suggests.
Stella was speechless. She didn't really mention about going dress shopping with her dad coming back into her life and all, so don't blame her if she was taken aback. "Oh, uh, yeah, sure." she lets out.
Dusty furrows his eyebrows in confusion. When did his daughter mention something about going to Prom?
"Wait a minute, Prom? Stella's going to Prom? Who's her date?" Dusty was asking.
"It's not mandatory to have a date, you know." Stella brashly tells her dad as she goes upstairs.
The following day, Stella uses the opportunity to meet up with her mom and Brad to go dress shopping during her lunch break. She is thankful that she has a free period after lunch, so her break is kind of extended.
While Stella is trying on the dresses that she is interested in trying in, Dusty decides to pry. "So, did Stella mention anything about having a date?" he asks.
"Dusty, stop. If Stella wants to tell you, she will tell you." Sara hisses at Dusty. She doesn't know why Dusty is confused as to why Stella is closed off and cold towards him.
She still remembers when Stella was that same little girl that would ask her what she did wrong to make her dad leave.
Stella first came out in a big, bright yellow dress. Brad was about to say something nice, but Stella cut him off. "Brad, be real. I look like a Lemon Meringue Pie." she tells him.
"Okay, maybe that is not the right color for you. Try on some of the other ones." Sara suggests as Stella goes back into the dressing room.
Stella tries on the second dress, which is a red two-piece dress. She comes out of the dressing room, a little chirpier than the last time she did.
"No, absolutely not." Dusty and Brad say in unison. "Wow, the first time they agree on something. Definitely taking their word on it." Stella muses out as she goes back into the dressing room.
She tries on the third dress, a black short dress that she is having some troubles breathing in.
"Still no." Dusty says, immediately. "Dusty." Sara hisses. "No, dad's right. I'm having some trouble breathing in it." Stella huffs out.
On the fourth dress, she thinks that this one is the one; a strapless light blue floor length dress that is bedazzled on the top part of it. "Mom, I think this might be the one!" she calls out. "Come on out, hon." Sara responds.
The oldest Mayron child comes out of the dressing room. Sara squeals. "Look at you, that looks beautiful!" she exclaims, causing Stella to giggle. The teenager hears stifled cries and it doesn't take a genius to know who is crying.
"Brad's crying, isn't he?" Stella asks her mom. "Don't give him a hard time." Sara warns her daughter.
"Elles Bells, that looks beautiful." Dusty tells her. "It really does." Brad cries out.
Into the night, Stella was babysitting Adrianna, who this time was getting picked up by her mom, Karen. She passes by Brad and Griff, who were standing outside of the house and gets into her house.
"Stella!"
"Star!"
Stella hears the yells from Dylan and Megan. "Hey, you two." She greets them with a hug.
"It's their bedtime. You planning on staying up?" Sara asks Stella as she guides her two youngest children upstairs. "Eh, maybe. I kind of have some unfinished homework to work on." Stella replies.
Stella grabs some clothes that were fresh out of the laundry and heads upstairs for her shower. Once she is finished with her shower, she puts those clothes on and goes into her bedroom.
Turning on the lights shows her bruised up boyfriend. "Kai?" she asks. All he can give is a smirk that is full of pain. "Hey princess."
"What happened?" she asks as she is gently guiding Kai to lay on her bed. "It's my dad. The usual, you know." he responds to her, nonchalantly. "It's more than that." she tells him.
"It's nothing like I'm used to, you know." he tells her, and that just breaks her heart.
If there is one person that Stella Mayron hates more than her dad, it would be Kai's dad.
He is a drunk and an addict that takes pleasure in bloodying up his son when he is around. Most of the time, he is not around, getting drunk at numerous bars and taking so many drugs that he would forget where he would be at.
"You stay here. I'm grabbing the First Aid kit." Stella sternly tells her boyfriend as she leaves her room to go to the linen closet.
She can overhear the overtold 'King and Step-King' story her dad and Brad are telling to Dylan and Megan. She also heard her dad make an allusion of the sword of the King and a penis.
"I am actually now disgusted." Stella shudders as she quickly grabs the First Aid kit, slamming the door, and rushing her way back to her room.
"What on Earth happened out there?" Kai asks, noting his girlfriend's horrified face. "You don't wanna know." she simply tells him.
Kai kept on wincing and hissing as Stella tried to clean up his wounds. "I've told you this numerous times, Mal. It's going to hurt." she tells him as she is cleaning up the blood from a cut on his head.
"Does it really need to sting?" Kai groans out. Stella gives him a 'really?' look as she continues to clean up his wounds.
"Okay, where else does it hurt?" she asks. "Here." he points over to his ribcage, in which Stella places a kiss on the spot that he points at.
"It also hurts here." Kai tells her, pointing at his head. Stella then pecks the spot that is pointed to.
"And it really hurts here." Kai tells her, pointing over to his lips.
She connects her lips with his lips. She parts from him, holding up one finger, and turns off the lights, as well as turning on the dim LED light strips that are scattered at the bedframe.
She maneuvers her way onto her boyfriend, but she must've landed in a wrong spot, because he now hisses. "Jesus!"
"I'm sorry. Are you okay?" Stella asks, worriedly. Kai just runs his hand through her brown hair. "I'll be fine. I just love having you in my arms." he tells her.
Stella swoons at that as she kisses her boyfriend, more passionately this time around. They were too lost in the moment that she didn't hear her door open or her lights turn on.
"WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!" Dusty roars out, scaring the two away from each other. Stella looks over to see her pissed off dad and Brad, who is just trying to diffuse the situation.
"Dusty, why don't we calm down and leave the two alone, huh?" Brad tries to compromise.
"How can I, Brad, when this son of a bitch has his grimy hands all over my daughter?!" Dusty irrationally asks. It catches the attention of Sara.
"What is going on out here?" Sara sternly asks. "Kai? Is it your dad again?" she asks her daughter's boyfriend. "Wow, it's that obvious, huh." Kai mutters out.
"Hold on, you two know about this?" Dusty asks Brad and Sara. Brad is stuttering out a sentence but Sara steps in.
"Stop trying to force yourself into our daughter's life. Give her time to open up." Sara told him, sternly.
"He is not spending the night in my house." Dusty told the two.
"Hold on, last time I checked, your name is not on the mortgage, dad. You are just someone who is just staying here." Stella tells him, throwing his own words back in his face.
"My boyfriend is spending the night whether you like it or not. Now please, get the hell out of my room." Stella concludes as she is guiding the three adults out of her room.
"Wow, glad to know that I met the jackass that is your dad." Kai comments. "I hate him as much as I hate your dad." Stella replies.
