To all my readers-Finally! I'm finished with the five part episode! Now I can do the rest of the season. I've also made a poll on facebook of what name I should use for when Paige meets her counterpart in Atem's memories in season 5. I'm torn between Amira, Tali and Ziva.
If anyone, and I mean anyone tries to rush me while writing this fanfic or any of my other fanfics, all written chapters will be delayed for a week. No exceptions. Leave a positive review and Happy Reading!
I DONT OWN YUGIOH AT ALL! I ONLY OWN THE OC AND HER DUELING DECK!
Shoutouts:
"Don't worry, Paige and Yuge." Joey said as they ran out of a castle turret. "He couldn't have gotten far."
"We've got to find him." said Yugi. "Pegasus is the only one who can restore Grandpa's soul."
"Wait a minute." said Tea, stopping in her tracks.
"Huh?"
"Why? What's the matter, Tea?" asked Yugi.
"What's wrong?" asked Paige.
"That tower." she tells them. "It looks…."
"Yeah. Go on." said Yugi as Tristan and Joey walked back over.
"I think I've been there before with Tristan and Bakura." she finally said.
"Huh?" asked Tristan.
"I vaguely recall a secret room." Tea explained. "Pegasus' Sanctuary. Maybe it was just a dream, but…"
"Only if we were both dreaming. I'm starting to remember it, too." said Tristan, knowing exactly what Tea was talking about. "Pegasus fought with Bakura, and then Bakura's evil spirit came out. But why did we forget?"
"Evil Spirit?" asked Yugi.
"AARGH!" growled Joey. "Yeah. I bet he cast a spell on ya!"
"But we remember now. Let's go!" said Tea as she, Tristan and Joey took off.
"Hey! Wait up!" said Yugi.
"We're shorter than the three of you!" said Paige.
"It's all over." said Pegasus, standing in his sanctuary and looking at the three cards in front of him. "Everything I've struggled to obtain is now beyond my grasp. Keeping their souls will not serve me now."
He continued to stare at Solomon, Seto and Mokuba in their cards. "Besides, I'm a man of my word." Pegasus said. "And because of the defeat I suffered at the hands of Yugi and the mysterious spirit of his Millenium Puzzle, I am duty bound to fulfill my pledge." Using the power of his Millenium Eye, Pegasus releases all three souls from their cards.
"And so, I release these three souls." he said and all three disappeared, returning to their physical bodies. In the arena, Mokuba moves a bit. In the Dungeon, Kaiba starts moving. Back in the hospital, Grandpa starts groaning in his bed.
"Cecilia, I'm sorry, but I have failed you." Pegasus said to the painting. "My attempt to take over Kaiba Corp, my efforts to get all of the Millenium Items, was all done for you. In the hopes that I could to restore you, body and soul."
"How sweet." said Yami Bakura, standing behind Pegasus, who's Millenium Eye tells him something.
"Hmm? Who's there?" he asked, looking over his shoulder and sees the silhouette of Bakura. "Bakura! I remember now. You! You're the one that possesses the Millenium Ring!"
"Yes. And I intend to have all the items." said Yami Bakura. "Care to wager yours on a Shadow game? I'll give you a second chance at a Millenium item." He then chuckles a bit. "What you couldn't from Yugi, perhaps you could win from me."
Showing his deck, Yami Bakura walks over to the desk. "Who knows? If you defeat me and claim my ring, your deepest desires might not be beyond your grasp after all." he tells Pegasus, shuffling his deck and begins telling his fortune.
"Your Millenium item allows you to look into people's minds, Pegasus. Mine allows me to see their souls. I have but to look at your deck, Pegasus, and it reveals to me your true nature."
Before Yami Bakura, there was a card upside down. "The Happy Lover Card!" said Yami Bakura. "It shows you have experienced the joys of love. However, this card is upside down, which means your romance ended in tragedy."
Pegasus glowered at Yami Bakura. "What a pity it is." he said to Pegasus. "Well, the next card should show me more about your present than your past." Yami Bakura flips over the next card, showing him the present. "Ah! The Mask of Darkness, eh? So your recent actions were all just an effort to mask your true objectives, objectives that came from deep within your heart. Who would have thought you even had a heart, let alone one so easily broken?"
"Quiet!" ordered Pegasus. "Let's just play the game."
"As you wish." chuckled Yami Bakura. "But first, there is one more card to be revealed. Don't you want to see your future? Doma, the Angel of Silence! It's an appropriate card for your future since I will now silence you forever. Prepare yourself, mortal, for a shadow game the likes of which you've never played!"
Parts of the ring pop out towards Pegasus. "This match will be played on the landscape of our minds." said Yami Bakura as he and Pegasus dueled it out in the shadow realm. "Really now, Pegasus, is that all you can muster? Ah, but you've been fatigued by your shadow duel with Yugi. Your mind is weary while mine is fresh."
"Oh!" cried Pegasus as he was knocked back into the painting.
"You are defeated!" said Yami Bakura. "A ranked amateur to one who has played for centuries."
"You've lived for centuries?" asked Pegasus as Yami Bakura stalks him. "What kind of creature are you?"
"I am the one who will possess all of the Millenium Items, and I shall use their combined might to conquer the entire world!" Yami Bakura said to Pegasus. "You have lost the game, and that entitles me to take your millenium item, the way you were meant to take Yugi's."
"No! No!" screamed a fearful Pegasus as Yami Bakura takes his Millenium Eye away.
"Did you hear that scream?" asked Tristan.
"It came from the tower." said Tea.
"It sounded like Pegasus." Joey said.
"It sounded bloodcurdling." said Paige. As they arrived at the bottom of the stairs, the kids see Pegasus being carried out.
"Look! Something's happened." Tea said.
"It's him." said Yugi as Pegasus moaned. "Croquet, what happened to Pegasus?"
"It's none of your concern. He's suddenly taken ill." Croquet tells Yugi.
"But what about Grandpa and the others?" questioned Yugi. "He promised he'd free their souls. He promised!"
"Not my department!" said Croquet and walks around them when Paige grabs a hold of him.
"It is your department, according to me." she tells him, gripping his arm tight. "Judging by his screams, if we go up there and their souls are still in those cards, I hold you and Pegasus personally responsible. Got it, Croquet?"
"Understood." he said, pulling his arm out of her grip and follows the others out of the corridor.
"Hey, did you get a look at Pegasus?" asked Joey.
"Who or what could have done that to him?" asked Tristan.
"I don't know." said Tea. "Maybe we should check out the towers, you think?"
"So, this is where Pegasus hangs out?" asked Joey as they finally entered the tower. "Whoever that woman is, she sure is pretty."
"Yeah." said Tristan, agreeing with him.
"Uh-huh. Sure she is." scoffed Paige, looking through some drawers. "I've known prettier women than her."
"Hey!" said Tea, seeing a journal on the desk and picks it up. "What's this? It seems to be a diary."
"Huh?"
"I have a diary. I have to hide it whenever Joey and Tristan come over." said Paige.
"You have a diary?" asked the boys, looking at Paige.
"She does, alright." said Yugi.
"What secrets are you hiding in that diary of yours?" asked Joey.
"Does little Paige have a crush on a certain someone?" teased Tristan.
"I don't need the two of you going in my room, snooping around for it." said Paige, glaring at Tristan. "It's at home, hidden in a place where the both of you will never find it."
"Maybe we'll find something in here." said Tea. Yugi gasps as he picks up a duel monsters card. "Its all about Pegasus. Listen to this. He's written about that lady."
"She's everywhere." said Yugi, looking at the painting and then at the card in his hand.
"She seems to be very important to him." said Tea, then starts reading from the diary.
'Darling Cecilia, at last, I've finally found a way to restore you to this world. Its an elaborate plan, but not beyond my genius. It involves the Kaiba Corporation and some ancient magic I plan to harness when I obtain more millenium items.'
"This could be it!" Tea said to the others. "This might explain why he set up the tournament and why he went after Yugi!"
"My guess is, he took Grandpa's soul, knowing that Yugi wore the millenium puzzle around his neck." said Paige.
"And maybe who this girl is." added Yugi.
"Its pretty obvious he's hung up on her." said Joey.
"'Cecilia, oh, my lovely….'." said Tea, reading more from Pegasus' diary.
[Flashback]
"Darling Cecilia. You know how much I've loved you since the first moment we met those many years ago. I'll never forget that day. It was at a party at my father's country estate. It was a Gala event, with celebrities and tycoons from all over the world. Anyone who was anyone was there. But by far, the one that impressed me the most….was you. Even though we were only children, I knew I was in love. We were drawn to each other, and from that moment on, we were inseparable, you and I." wrote Pegasus.
Young Pegasus and Young Ceclia were at the party. Young Pegasus extends his hand, asking Young Cecilia for a dance.
"You inflamed my passions, inspired me to become a painter. And you were my favorite subject. I was so in love. And just when I thought things couldn't get any better, you agreed to take my hand once again, this time, in marriage. That was the happiest day of my life. But it was cut short. For it seemed, just as we said our vows, you were struck down by a devasting disease and taken from me and this world. It was as if a blow had struck me from the heavens. I was filled with sorrow." Pegasus continued to say in his diary.
Cecilia and Pegasus were in a church when out of nowhere, rose petals surrounded Cecilia, taking her from him and the world.
"From that moment on, I could no longer paint. My heart grew bitter and cold. Unable to accept the idea that our life together was forever lost, I decided to scour the earth in an attempt to find any way to reach you beyond this mortal veil." wrote Pegasus.
Pegasus was standing in front of the pyramids, then starts walking down the market street.
"My journey eventually brought me to the great pyramids of Egypt, that mysterious land whose ancient people believed in a life beyond the here and now….a belief I wanted to embrace. I had just begun to explore that ancient city when fate intervened." he then wrote.
Wind blew his hat away, causing someone wearing a turban down the street to catch it, handing it back to him. "Thank you." said Pegasus.
"Stranger, heed my advice." said the man with the turban.
"Huh?" said Pegasus, confused.
"You have journeyed far, seeking to cure the ache within your soul." he said as the Millenium Key glowed around his neck.
"Ohh."
"Take great care." said the man. "The search to heal the pains of a broken heart might lead to even greater heartache."
"Wait! How do you know?" Pegasus asked.
"It matters not. Go home!" said the man, walking away from Pegasus.
"But I couldn't. I realized that if he somehow knew of my pain, maybe he could help me heal it." Pegasus wrote. "I followed him against his wishes, or so I thought."
Pegasus followed the man into a building, and towards some stairs, losing him in the process. "Although the passage seemed to lead to the bowels of the earth, still I followed, and my footsteps led me to a hidden crypt, apparently buried beneath centuries of civilization."
Pegasus watched the man as he looks around the crypt. "What is this place?" he asked.
"So, you chose not to heed my warning." said the man, standing before an ancient Egyptian tomb as he turns to face Pegasus. Two of his friends grabbed Pegasus from behind.
"What are you doing? Let me go!" said Pegasus, struggling against the two men as he was brought forth before the man.
"I am a guardian of the millenium items." the men said to Pegasus. "Once this sacred place has been discovered, the only way to leave is to be chosen. It must be your destiny." He then grabs the millenium eye from the tomb, bringing over to Pegasus.
"But how could these millenium items be part of my destiny?" Pegasus asked. "What do you mean? Uhh."
"You will now be tested by the item itself: the millenium eye." he said.
"The eye itself? But how?" questioned Pegasus.
"Each millenium item awaits the day its fated possessor appears to claim it and punishes those who are undeserving." said the man.
"Punishes?" questioned Pegasus.
"Now, if you pass its test, it will empower you even more than you've ever seen before." the man explained.
"And if I failed the test?" wondered Pegasus.
"If you are not the one destined to possess it," the man said with a smirk on his face. "all that awaits you is nightmares beyond your imagination!"
He then places the millenium eye in Pegasus, who screamed out in pain. "You have not descended into chaos and madness." said the man as Pegasus shakes in pain from the millenium eye. "You are the chosen one. Now your eyes will be opened to dimensions beyond the here and now, like having a sixth sense, capable of seeing worlds and times outside of our own."
"Cecilia!" gasped Pegasus, seeing his wife.
"Maximillion, its really you!" she cried out.
"Aah! Cecilia!" said Pegasus, holding her in his arms once more. "I've found you! My darling, we're reunited at long last."
"But be warned. Seeing is not the same as touching, holding and being." said the man as Cecilia disappears from Pegasus' arms.
"Cecilia." Pegasus quietly said to himself.
"That is beyond the power of this millenium item." he tells Pegasus, with tears falling down his face.
"I should have once again been engulfed by despair. But seeing you for a brief moment…" Pegasus wrote.
[Flashback ends]
"'…gave me more hope than I thought possible'." said Tea, reading the last paragraph that Pegasus wrote. "'Even though you were gone from my world, I knew there was still a way to reach your spirit, and I wouldn't rest till I found a way to bring you back and once again touch the flower that is your face and gaze into your eyes once more'. It goes on to say that later Pegasus got an inspiration. He found a way to combine Kaiba's virtual technology with the magic of the millenium items to restore Cecilia."
"Hmm."
"But nothing about Grandpa or the Kaiba brothers." said Tea, placing Pegasus' diary back on the desk.
"I've got so much to say right now about Pegasus." said Paige. "First off…I feel bad that he lost the love of his life."
"Yeah. That could be any one of us." said Tristan.
"Second, after hearing Pegasus scream today, I'm guessing that whoever put the millenium eye in him probably took it out so that's why he has 'become ill'." said Paige.
"I wonder how much pain he is from having the millenium eye taken out." said Tea.
"Pegasus has a 50 percent chance of having or losing my respect at the moment." Paige said.
"Hey, look! 3 soul cards, and they're all blank!" said Yugi, seeing the cards on the desk.
"Pegasus must have freed them." said Joey.
"Lets find out!" said Tea.
"Yeah!" said Joey and Tristan as they followed Tea out.
Yugi and Paige looked at the three blank soul cards. "I hope they're okay." said Yugi as Paige squeezes her brother's hand.
"Come on, Yuge and Paige!" Joey calls out to them. "Let's go."
"Hold on! Wait for us!" said Yugi as he and Paige went after them. As brother and sister reached the stairs, they were stopped by something appearing in front of them.
"Huh? What's going on?" asked Yugi.
"I'm scared, Yugi." said Paige, hugging her brother. Coming up through the floor, the man from Pegasus' diary appears before them.
"He has a millenium item, too." said Yugi.
"That looks like a huge key for a big door." added Paige.
"The disturbance in the mystic alignment brings me here." thought the man as he looks up at the Muto siblings.
"Who are you?" they both asked.
"Huh?" he said, sees the youngest Muto grab her brother's wrist in fear and looked at the millenium puzzle around Yugi's neck.
"I know not who has stolen Pegasus' millenium eye and upset the cosmic balance, but perhaps I should begin my search here." he thought, still staring at the siblings and walks towards them. "Through the centuries, those who have come to possess one millenium item have often been driven to covet them all."
"No, stay back!" said Yugi.
"Don't come near us!" said Paige.
"I sense that the thief hides somewhere within the castle walls." the man thought as he takes the millenium key from around his neck and points it at Yugi and Paige. "I shall begin my investigation with this boy and his female friend."
"What are you doing?" Yugi asked, pulling Paige close to him.
"You heard my brother!" said Paige.
"The millenium key will unlock their minds and reveal the truth to me." he though and unlocks the siblings minds. He then enters the corridor of the Millenium puzzle. On his left, the wall was of Yugi and Paige while the other side was of Yami, the spirit.
"Huh? What is this?" he asked himself, seeing two sides of the millenium puzzle. "This older youth's mind contains two chambers."
He looks at an open door with toys from Yugi and Paige's past. "Never have I seen such a thing. One is a room of a pure innocence, devoid of malice. The purity of souls I sense here could not possibly belong to the criminal that stole the millenium eye." he thought, then looks at Yami's side. "But wait! In the other chamber, I detect another presence."
The door opens before him, revealing Yami. "And this soul is much more mysterious." he thought to himself.
"Its all right." Yami said to his visitor. "You may enter my chamber if that is what you desire. But I warn you, tread cautiously. I will allow no harm to come to the boy whose vessel I share and his sister."
"Hmm." said the man, entering Yami's chamber.
"Your presence here intrigues me." said Yami.
"In the past, I've ventured into the minds of many people, but I've never encountered a mind so dank and mysterious." thought the man as he starts looking around Yami's chamber. "I feel as though I'm in a tomb of an ancient Egyptian Pharaoh."
"I don't know how you entered my mind." Yami tells the man. "Explain yourself before you trespass further. I demand an explanation for your intrusion."
"Hmm. I seek a criminal who has stolen the power of a millenium item. It has been 5 long millennia since those ancient items were created." the man explained. "Their magical energies were trapped in them by a brave pharaoh. Combined, these 7 millenium items possess power enough to conquer the whole world. Hence, many evil men have ventured to gather these items for themselves."
"Hmm." said Yami, wondering why they were after the millenium items.
"It is my heritage to guard the millenium items and my charge to punish the thief who stole Pegasus' millenium eye." said the man.
"And you accuse me of being that criminal?" Yami asked.
"You have already taken refuge in the vessel of another." said the man. "That does not bode well. But if you are not the criminal, then you have nothing to fear from my search."
"Guilty until proven innocent?" questioned Yami. "An ancient concept for this modern age. However, I have nothing to hide. I'm not your criminal."
"Then grant me passage to your unconscious mind." said the man.
"Fine. I'll open the doors for you." said Yami, then reveals all the doors in his chamber. "You may search them to your heart's content."
"Hmm." said the man, not knowing where to start. "Never have I seen such a complexity as in this one's mind. Truly, he is an extraordinary individual."
"Keep in mind," Yami said to the man. "once you have completed your search, do not let my vessel's sister hurt you. She's very protective of me and her brother."
"I understand." the man replied
"And now, I will leave you to your exploration." said Yami and disappears.
"There are mysteries within mysteries here, levels beyond levels, so I must probe each chamber for the truth." thought the man, opening the door when suddenly a trap was activated and knocks him back. "Aah! It was a trap. Despite his cooperation, something in his mind conspires to keep me from the truth. So many doors, so many false entries, all designed to distract me from the proper path. But no matter how they try to confuse and disorient me, my millenium key will show me the true way."
The man finally stops at the next door. "It draws me here. The truth lies within." he thought to himself as he opens the door. "It appears safe enough. Still, I must proceed with extreme caution."
He walks inside when out of nowhere, the floor crumbles beneath him, causing the man to scream in terror. "Another trap!" he said, hanging on for dear life. "Never have I seen mental defenses so strong. This could be the end of me. If I fall into this deep darkness, I will be trapped eternally within his cryptic mind."
"I don't know why the spirit of our puzzle's doing this to you, but my sister and I cant let him hurt you." said Yugi as he grabs the man's hand.
"Huh?" said the man, looking up to see Yugi and Paige. "It's the innocent ones."
"Just so you know, I'm gonna have a long talk with the spirit of our millenium puzzle." said Paige.
"Let us help you up." said Yugi as he and Paige pulled him up.
Once on solid ground, the man explains to Yugi and Paige. "I seek only the truth. But its strange my way is blocked." explained the man.
"Its strange, all right." said Yugi.
"Its more than strange, its getting ridiculous." said Paige.
"Paige, what are you going to do?" Yugi asked his sister.
"Well, the next time you and the spirit switch places, I'm gonna give the spirit a big old smack upside the head." Paige explained. "Then when you come back out, I'm gonna give you a heartfelt hug and apology because one: it's your body that you're sharing with him and two: I love my brother."
Yugi sighs as he shakes his head. "But I don't think the spirit of the puzzle is doing this on purpose." Yugi said. "I get the feeling that there are some memories hidden even from him. I sure wish we knew what they were."
"Yeah. I would love to see what the spirit remembers." said Paige. Just then, a light shines on a door not far from them.
"Huh?" the three said, looking at the door.
"The door, it opens for the two of you." thought the man, standing with Yugi and Paige as the door opens up. "As if seeking to answer your curiosity. But why? Why does it yield to the two of you?"
"What is all of this? What are these stone tablets?" asked Yugi as they entered the room.
"5,000 years ago, Egyptian kings played a game of great and terrible power." the man explained. "These shadow games were played with real magic and real monsters."
"If the power they had as individuals were terrible, I hope they didn't hurt anyone with it." said Paige, causing the man to smile.
"But those games erupted into a war that threatened to destroy the entire world, until a brave pharaoh locked the magic away sealing the monsters in stone tablets." said the man, as he passed by the stone tablets of the Dark Magician and Athena. "But how could your other personality have knowledge of this ancient history? And why do I suddenly sense here in his unconscious mind, magic that the world has not known for 5 millenia?"
"They look just like the monsters on the cards we use to play with today." said Yugi.
"This is eerie." said Paige. Just then, lightning strikes overhead, causing them to cover their eyes.
"Look out! A new threat appears." said the man. Both Dark Magician and Athena appeared before them.
"The Dark Magician." exclaimed Yugi.
"Athena!" exclaimed Paige. Both monsters looked at the siblings and the man behind them, drawing out their staffs.
"They prepare to strike." said the man. "They are another mental defense against any intruders. The Magician and Athena intends to destroy all three of us."
"No way!" said Yugi.
"They cant." said Paige.
"Unless we can stop them, we will never leave this chamber. Wait! This surface on which I stand may be the means of our salvation." the man tells the siblings. He then looks down and sees Blue Eyes White Dragon. "If that other image spawned the essence of the Dark Magician and Athena, then this one must contain the magical energy of their nemesis, the Blue Eyes White Dragon. If I can use the power of the Millenium key to unleash its might, it will obliterate the Magician and Athena."
"No! Stop!"
"Please! Don't!"
"Why should I?" he asked the siblings.
"Because they'd never hurt us." Yugi explained. Both of them ran up to the Dark Magician and Athena. "Dark Magician, Athena, we are not intruders! Don't you recognize us?"
"Please, Athena! You and Dark Magician trust us." said Paige.
"Stand aside and let us leave in peace." said Yugi and Paige. "We will not reveal the hidden secrets. You know us. You trust us."
The Dark Magician pulls back his staff as Athena gazes at Paige a little more. "I swear on my life as a duelist." said Paige and Athena pulls back her staff.
"Whats this?" the man asked himself. "The Dark Magician and Athena, who in ancient times obeyed only the Pharaoh and his sister, gives heed to this set of youth? Impossible! Unless the boy and his sister are the chosen ones."
Yugi and Paige turned around to face the man behind them. "The prophecy comes to pass." he thought as both the Dark Magician and Athena disappear behind Yugi and Paige.
"Aah!"
Outside of the millenium puzzle, the man places the key back around his neck. "That was weird." said Paige.
"I apologize for my rude intrusion into your minds. I did not realize that the both of you are the chosen ones and that the ancient predictions have been finally fulfilled at last! In my search for a thief, I instead found the most worthy ones fated to unlock all the magic." said the man. "The theft of Pegasus' millenium eye was but the first sign that evil once again walks the earth, bringing madness in its wake. As in ancient times, chaos once more threatens to envelop an unsuspecting world, and only they who solved the millenium puzzle can save it."
"What do you mean?" asked Yugi. "Is there anything else you can tell us about this?"
"Because we're confused here." said Paige.
"Take great care. Be on your guard, for whoever the thief is who stole Pegasus' millenium item, he will also come seeking yours." the man said to Yugi and Paige.
"Wow! That's almost too scary to think about." said Yugi. "But if a guy like you couldn't find him, how do you expect us to?"
"Uh…Yugi." said Paige, snapping her brother out of it and points to the man as he headed downstairs.
"Wait! Don't go!" Yugi called out after him. "I've got a lot more questions. Like, who are you?"
"My name is Shadi, and I'm certain that we will meet again another day." said Shadi, disappearing from the stairs. "But until then, stay true to your destiny. Remember, the fate of the world rests on your shoulders."
"Interesting man." said Paige.
