Heroes to Hunters

Chapter 36

Time for a couple of answers. And to get more of an idea on what my hidden villains have in mind to do with the worlds. Let alone the risks that come from two worlds colliding this way. But I'll also get into Tsuyu getting more of a chance to show how much of a hunter she can really be. On with the show.

(No POV)

While waiting for the recovery ships to arrive, Tsuyu and the others quickly took Sirius into her makeshift shelter. "Oh man. She really doesn't look good." Sato said while mixing a few potions and drinks together. Once they were, he gently put the mix to her mouth so she could drink and maybe heal.

Sirius coughed a few times as the mixture went down her throat but some color came back to her face. As the rescue ships were arriving, she started mumbling more about monsters, a mission, and the Okie Mariner. "How many more portals do you think have been opened?" Koda asked while putting some ointment on her burned skin.

"Too many. And I doubt the Okie Mariner was the only attacked. Or only sea hero who was attacked." Tsuyu said while looking at her friend in worry. She then noted that they could wait for answers until Sirius was stable. Sato and the rest nodded as the ships arrived.

Once aboard, the people of Moga village took Sirius into a lower cabin. There, a few of them were able to better treat her injuries. But it would take a few more days before she could tell more of her story. So, she was left in Tsuyu's house for the time being.

Thus, the teens took to hunting and exploring a few of the regions. Be it Koda exploring and cataloging some of the monsters he saw. Or Kinoko who gathered various mushrooms to bring back. And especially Sato and Tsuyu who took on various hunts and jobs from the Guild to improve their skills.

Sato for starters took out a large pack of Jagia and the Great Jaggi that lead the group. "Those things are annoying and stupid. Seriously. I saw them pick a fight with a Rathian and then a Rathalos. It's like they ask to get beat up." Sato said after clearing the region of the troublesome pack.

Tsuyu meanwhile chose to focus more on swimming and fighting monsters of the deep. And bringing their guts back for a treat. 'I can't believe this is an actual delicacy to some. But I guess the same is true of our world.' Tsuyu thought while killing and then gutting and Epioth.

Though between some of those moments of disgust, she took time to collect a few treasures from the deep as well. "Maybe Sirius will like some of these once she wakes up. Whenever that is." Tsuyu thought aloud while looking at the red coral stones and pearls she had collected while diving.

After all of the collecting, she had a strange feeling running down her spine. She couldn't compare it to anything but an electric current being run through the water. And the shadowy image of a large monsters taking out other monsters in the distance.

She wanted to ask about the matter and monster but something important happened. "Sirius is up!?" she asked Koda upon returning to Moga village. He nodded and the hurried to the house with the former frog girl. When they arrived, Sirius was still looking around uneasily. But she looked far better compared to where the teens found her.

"Froppy. You really are here. But…. where is here?" Sirius asked first before being helped up by Sato and Kinoko. "That's a bit complicated. Suffice to say though, we're in another world." Asui said while scratching her chin.

The older girl was wide eyed before asking if it was true. "Trust us on this. We've been living here for…. Quite a while now. Things are, strange to say the least." Koda noted while thinking about how his head no longer looked rock like. Something he explained to Sirius upon her inquiry.

She looked down and then seemed to be thinking about or trying to do something. "You're right. I didn't notice after everything that happened. But, I can't hear anything beyond this hut or house. My quirk…. Its gone."

While not as shocked as some of the former heteromorphic students or others who first came here, she was still surprised on the matter. She then asked what the world they were in was like. "Well a big factor aside from the no quirks, would definitely have to be the monsters." Sato said nonchalantly.

This made Sirius freeze up and she started flashing back to what happened. And what destroyed her home, friends, and mentor. She started to freak out and thrash, but Sato took hold of her to keep her still. "Easy Sirius! Listen…. This might be hard to think about. But could you tell us what happened?" Tsuyu asked while holding Sirius's hands.

Sirius (or as she reintroduced herself Koshimizu Sana) took a few deep breaths and drank a potion before recounting her tale. "We'd…. we'd been called in to investigate an anomaly and reports of something attacking boats."

She noted that they thought it was just a person with a quirk that made them into a dangerous beast. Like the villain Innsmouth but larger or similar. "Considering quirks, I guess it wouldn't be that out of the realms of possibilities." Koda noted. His mind considering all the possible marine creatures a quirked person could turn in to.

"Yeah well. It wasn't a person. I'd call it an actual monster." Sana said before noting they'd picked it up on it deep in the water as a squall was moving in. Initially chocking it up to either a whale or submarine or something like that. "Selkie and two others decided to check it out and what we might be dealing with. But I think that just aggravated the beast.

Sana had a thousand-yard stare as she remembered the panicked reports and then screams of her team in the deep. "One had been eaten and the other injured. Selkie swam as fast as he could to bring him to the ship. But that probably sealed our fate."

After Selkie had leapt aboard and told the others to get the ship moving, the squall moved in. And the monsters from the deep crashed into the side of the ship. "It caused a leak below, so I went to patch it. That was when we got hit by…. I don't know how to explain it, but it was like the ship had been struck by lightning. And we all got shocked."

The sidekick had started to pull herself out of the section that was filling with water, when Selkie arrived and got her clear. He had been protected somewhat by his suit and the fact it had rubber flippers attached to his feet.

"That didn't help the others though. Most were injured, out cold, and similar. Selkie started the ship towards port, but the storm ended up being bigger than we expected. And that monster wouldn't give up."

It had attacked the ship multiple times to the point where they were ready to abandon ship. "The Okie Mariner is going down! I need to get these guys to the life pods! Selkie said that before trying to get the crew away. But before he did, I heard that thing. I'll never forget that roar. It sounded like it was moving away. And then it rushed towards us at a speed the ship couldn't take."

Whatever the monster was that attacked, it had virtually split the ship in two. It's large crocodile like head, black to match the sky above. With lightning flashing along with electricity running along the back of the beast.

"It bit down on Mick and finished off the last members with it's lightning. It was just me and Selkie floating in the storm as he tried to swim to me. He called out and tried to tell me to find something stable. That was when I saw it again. It's red eyes flashing as it surged through the surf. Right towards Selkie."

Sana had tried to call out to him, to warn him of what was coming. But it was all too late. The monster was on top of him before he could react. His terrified face and dismembered arm being one of the last things she saw of her mentor and leader.

The hero started breaking down and crying. Tsuyu started to cry as well. Thinking about her mentor from the internships and the others from the crew of the Okie Mariner. Koda had some tears in his eyes as well and let Sana hold onto him for a while.

Kinoko and Sato both looked down in frustration and sadness at what had befallen the young woman. And a few listening outside had a pretty good idea on who it was that she was attacked by. After crying for a while, Sana was able to continue.

"I…. I thought for sure that was how I'd die. That the beast would….. would just devour me. But something happened. Beneath the sea a portal? I guess that would be right opened. It started a whirlpool and pulled me and the monster into it. I couldn't breath for a long time and I still saw it's jaws snapping above and around me. I blacked out and I woke up on that rock with a bunch of debris around me."

After taking a few minutes to gather herself and catch her breath, Sana explained that she'd been trying to survive until help came. "But I couldn't catch much. Especially since… I can't go back. I can't get in the water again," she said while wrapping her arms around herself tightly.

Tsuyu tightened her fist and asked how long she had been stuck on that rock. Noting that it had been over a week, and she wasn't sure what would happen next for her. "Then you arrived. And I guess saved me."

The former frog hero was saddened and angry at what had happened. But she wasn't sure what it was all about. "If nothing else missy, I can tell you what attacked. Sounds like a local….. demon. So, to speak. An Abyssal Lagiacrus," the chief of Moga said while letting himself in.

He sighed before offering something to drink for the young woman. She took it but noted that it burned a bit going down. "Sorry about that. Yeah I know that beast well. Well sort of. I lost my entire crew to a similar creature. An Ivory Lagiacrus."

The teens from the world of heroes were wide eyed as the man recounted his own tale. About how he had been a hunter of renown and his crew fell many a monster when he was young. But it all came to a halt thanks to the Ivory Lagiacrus.

"For a time we also thought it was causing earthquakes on the island. Creating damage and threatening our home. We know better now, but it doesn't change that those Leviathans are terrifying monsters."

He is then clapped on the back by Zineaco and he said, "okay let's not terrify them more than necessary chief. Though it doesn't change what's happened. In the meantime, how about you keep resting here. We'll get you set up somewhere and you can recover your strength."

Sana looked at the man before looking down. Saying a quiet thank you before asking to be left alone. "Not alone. We'll be right here. As much as you need us." Tsuyu said with a focused gaze in her eyes.

"You're just as straightforward as ever. Thanks, Froppy. No. Tsu, right?" the young woman said with a small smile. The first she'd had the entire time she had been there. Tsuyu returned it and agreed. As did her friends as the other villagers gave them space. But not without leaving a few gifts of food and similar for the displaced heroes.

Once things had started to calm down, Tsuyu excused herself. Sato followed after and asked what was on her mind. "These….. events. The portals opening. Heroes and civilians being dragged to this world. One where we don't have our quirks and there are monsters everywhere. And monsters being unleashed into our world. What is going on?"

"I think I get it. It doesn't really feel…. Like coincidences or accidents. Like someone is trying to unleash these things on our world and depower us. But who'd gain from that?" Sato questioned as the sun was sinking over the sea. Tsuyu hummed before admitting she had no idea.

"Those last sacrifices and experiments brought some greater responses. In time we should be able to unleash what we seek," the black hooded said while running his hand along the golden horns of a small Malzeno. One that snarled as the parasites squirmed upon it.

Through the looking glass, his red hooded ally was seen. "Quite right. A number of sea heroes have vanished now. We just need a bit more and we will be unopposed. What about from your end?"

The villain in the world of monsters grumbled a moment before noting that it was somewhat mixed. "The chaos of unleashing Gaismagorm further aided in finding my Silver Steed. But it did less damage than anticipated. The Hunters put up more of a fight and kept it from emerging." The red hooded villain hummed and wondered if there was something on his end disrupting plans.

"Not likely. Riders aren't well known, and neither are our ways. But enough of that. I should be able to open more stable portals soon. And thanks to the chaotic energy from your side, I can push the monster further. That will give you the opening you hoped for to unleash… whatever it is you seek. And I'll have more power to try and get the last dragon; The Burning Star. And with them all, ready my world for it's rebirth."

The rider's red hooded ally tilted his head slightly before saying, "I suppose that is good then. And with your help, humanity will go back to what it should have been. They will rise once more and be better for it. And those monsters might help in all of it."

This story isn't done. I just wanted to illustrate some of what's been happening for the time being. Not to mention give more credence to our villains and the possible motivations of the foes Izuku and the rest will be up against. While also peppering in my special story idea that still has to build. Please review!
