The game was going well, really well actually. I did not expect it to gain so much fame or fan base. Even if said fan base was really something: an hardcore role playing community.
I did not interact with them as I spent most of my time trying to think of updates or working on the VR game but from the few mails I read, they really are into it. They made "legions" with one leader for each of the updates I made and referred to me as the creator. I honestly found it hilarious.
Anyway, I was now working on a small update with two patrons. Surprisingly the idea came from Freida, my maid. She asked me why I did not add any of the others pantheons in the game. More precisely, she asked if I could add the concept of god and devil.
As my game was based around the concept of lovecraft, I was not sure my player base would like it so I decided to play it safe and made a small trailer about a possible update.
A blue sky appeared on the screen. Blue as it should be and yet in a few second the calm color slowly fad and a crimson hue take its place.
"The horns thunder in the sky."
Hundreds of white spots appear, ranged and floating in the sky, yet, before anyone could determine what they are, they are replaced by the entrance of a cavern.
From its mouth, bestial cries resonate and yet only darkness appear.
"The armies are preparing."
The screen changes again, showing a red flame trying to devour a white flame, failing. They burnt everything around them and yet, as they were approaching battling an old man appeared, confining them under a cup.
He looked sadly at the screen, looking as old as he was.
"the drums of war yet again resound. Choose wisely"
The video stopped after the old man blew under the cup.
I did not have to wait that long for the views counter to explode and apparently the community was not as opposed to the idea as I thought.
So I created the update and added two beings: Michael (or Mikail) and Satan.
Michael, as an angel warrior of justice could give two different powers: holy Knight and judgement. The first would allow the gifted to don an armor alongside a sword and shield blessed with holy energy. While not as useful as others gift, it would slowly but surely heal it's wielder as long as he was wearing them. The second was more⦠passive I guess. As long as the fighter believed his fight was just and his adversary a sinner, it would empower him and boost his strength and stamina for as long as the fight lasted.
Satan, as the great evil only gave one gift and I honestly found it a bit overpowered but hey, Satan : Wrath. As long as the user felt wrath and fought, it would boost his strength immensely. Yet, as he still is Satan, for each use of said power the user would lose his mental fortitude, a massive debuff for this game now that I think about it. I think it would balance the big buff.
Anyway, when I showed it to Freida, she seemed pleased so I just had to wait a bit, just for suspense and upload it.
