Rain reminds me of you

The Angel and Demon stood in a crowd of curious people.

They watched the parade of creatures ranging from ants to lions march into the large wooden ship.

Azirel broke the silence, "So, we have a spot on the boat? I don't think I'm good at sneaking."

Raphael sighed deeply with annoyance, "For the dozenth time, I secured out spot already. You're always so worried. You can trust me, I promise."

Azirel started to walk away.

"I know Noah and- where are you off to!?"

Azirel didn't turn back but simply kept plowing his way out of the stuffy crowd.

A small stream of children sprinted after one another, playfully laughing.

Azirel went against the current and and very nearly fell over, before it was clear again.

"I think I saw one of the unicorns gallop away. It would be a shame to lose them in the flood."

Raphael opened her mouth to ask why they needed two unicorns, when Azirel was already gone. It seemed people always ran away from her questions.

At least he would be back soon. Animals always loved him.

She waited at the very edge, as close to the ark as possible, and counted them all in.

After what felt an eternity, seeing a lone unicorn reminded her she didn't see Azirel anywhere.

Where had he gone off to? To save the unicorn, yes yes, but it was taking a rather long time.

All head turned to a small child who screamed. What was going on?

The child pointed to something a short distance away.

"Look! They're riding a unicorn!"

Suddenly everyone was looking at the person in question.

They weren't riding it, per say, but rather a unicorn had started running and took the demon with it.

Raphael tensed up. So that was what was taking him.

"Heeeeeeelp meeeeeee!" The steed went zooming past the crowd.

The angel stepped over the fence dividing the crowd and parade, and sprinted after Azirel.

Everyone's attention was back on the parade. It wasn't their problem, of course. They needn't be watching.

Raphael didn't want him embarrassed anyways.

She started catching up.

"Love! Try to put your feet down. Or at least try to steer it back to me!"

Azirel swung his body over one side and plunged his feet into the earth. He scraped long, deep rows in their path.

The unicorn pulled and thrashed as it was being slowed down, but to no avail. Eventually they ground to a halt.

Azirel was hugging its torso with his full strength and trying to fall over, yet again.

He tried to strain some words out through a clenched jaw.

"Argh. Come get it... quickly! I need... some help..."

Raphael slowed down her pace, and took a long pause to catch her breath with her hands on her knees.

"Yeah, yeah. Alright."

She dragged over to the unicorn and hugged the other side of its body.

"You ready? We're gonna pick it up in one..."

"two..."

"...three!"

They hefted the creature a few inches off the ground, just to get it closer to where they had restraint of some kind.

When all the animals were in the ship finally, it began to drizzle.

The two were sitting on the steps of the ark, relaxing.

Raphael glanced up at the sky and stretched her arms outwards with crackling joints.

"Why does it seem whenever something big happens, it starts raining?"

Azirel held out his hand to feel a few drops. It was already getting heavier.

"I don't know. What I do know..."

Az scooted closer to her. He hugged her side with his arm, and kissed her cheek.

Raphael began to blush ever so slightly, though she'd never admit it.

"...is that rain reminds me of you."
