The Devil was kneeling on one leg on the beach in front of Iris during a sunset. She looked at him with sparkle in her eyes while he took something from behind his back and hid it in his hands which he slowly opened. It was a small box. A velvet box that shows a beautiful ring. Iris was shocked and amazed by the ring
She couldn't believe what was happening. "Iris Amora Spark..." the devil grinned with joy and his cheeks flushed slightly. "will you marry me?" Iris just nod her head and smiled. Tears of joy running down her face as he place the ring on her finger looking at each other they lean in and the devil was about to kiss her but...
He groans. It was only a dream. A dream that got disturbed by the Alarm clock on the bedside Table that starts rigging. Of course he was angry that the alarm clock had woken him up from his dream. And that was just when it became exciting. Accordingly, it was also understandable that he destroyed the alarm clock with his trident and sighing lay down in his bed.
His gaze wandered to the other side of the bed, which was empty. This was already empty for an eternity and was intended for his future wife Iris. This frustrated him even more than before, which is why his gaze fell on the calendar.
This hung a little far from the bed. Groaning, he stood up and took a good look at it. So he could not recognize anything special except for a mark that he had left behind on a very specific day that was no longer far away from the current day. The devil looked at this exactly and looked several times to have not mistaken.
The special day was Valentine's Day. A very special day for the devil that he would like to spend with Iris. But unfortunately he have asked her for a date before. And well, she was persistent in turning him down every time. But his mood did not change because of that. No not the slightest, he have the confidence that this time will be different with Iris. He smiled and happily left his bedchamber with his trident in his hand and disappeared with it in a cloud of smoke and reappeared in the throne room.
In the throne room were beside him and Henchman some Imps who took care of the carpet, the columns and the tapestries. "Morning" the devil greeted the Imps who either also greeted him or just nodded and waved while they took care of other activities. "Keep up the good work" two Imps were frightened. But not because of the devil, but because of something else. "What the?...did it freeze over?" the other Imp looked out of the Underworld window.
"Nope" the Devil walks past them and the one person that annoyed him the most in the underworld. Stickler. The latter already had his book ready and wanted to open it, but the devil interrupted him and pushed the book aside. "Stickler diligently working hard I see, great job" Stickler and the others were a bit taken back as the Devil said that. He took off his glasses to clean them to make sure his eyes were not playing tricks on him.
While he did that the Devil walks up to his throne and sits down. Henchman appeared next to him with a cup of coffee in his hand, which he handed to the devil, who also drank from it. "Morning Henchman lovely day isn't it?" he asked him as he handed him the cup.
"Wow boss your sure in a chiper mood, sleep well?" Henchman asked curiously. The Devil was never that happy, actually. Only when a special day comes like some holiday or his birthday. "Yes actually till an alarm clock ruin it.." he growls slightly and rested his right arm on the armrest, supporting his head. "But also a very special day is coming up" "What day boss?" the beating of his wings was hard to miss as Henchman was at the same eye level as the devil looking at him.
The devil took another sip from his coffee cup while Henchman got himself a drink before turning his attention to him. But the devil seemed to have forgotten his question, because while he was immersed in his coffee, Henchman stared at him questioningly, still waiting for an answer. "Oh Valentine's day" he almost choked when the devil said that and spat out the water while coughing. Valentines Day is one of his least favorite holiday out of the all the others holidays
"Boss you hate Valentine's Day! You hate all the love and always say it is a day full of lovesick and lovelorn fools" Yes, what Henchman said was true, but that was the old him. Now he thought differently since he had seen Iris and fallen in love with her. She was very special to him and Valentine's Day would be very special to him this year.
If he went on a date with Iris and showed her how amazing he is, then she would fall in love with him, it would please him very much. "True Henchman but this year is different than before I met my darling Iris" positively charged, he went to his trident and took it. "Plus this is my chance to win her love" Unfortunately, however, Iris was stubborn about it. "How are you going to do that boss?" "Easy using Valentine's Day opportunity to give her the most romantic and amazing date, she'll fall in love with me and then agree to marry me"
Henchman wasn't so sure that would work. Unfortunately, his plans always backfired. "But my first step is by getting her to be my Valentine" with these words he disappeared from the underworld, leaving Henchman, Stickler and the rest of the Imps in his throne room confused.
Meanwhile...
Love crackled in the air over Inkwell Isle's. Valentine's Day decorations hung everywhere and billboards advertised the Valentine's Day Amusement Park on the pier. It was hard to not see so many couples all over the city and all hearts decorations everywhere as everyone was counting down the days till Valentine's Day which was now 5 days away
Even in the Sparks' house, you could feel Valentine's Day spirit all over the house. Dora was in the kitchen preparing some drinks and pastries while Iris and Alicia were busy elsewhere. Whether it was practicing new spells that Iris could now master or partially master or something very special for Valentine's Day.
Of course, Cuphead and Mugman were also at the Sparks house helping Iris, Alicia and Dora where they could. Iris was preparing something to put in a basket while sighing happily. "Got to love Valentine's Day" but Cuphead thought otherwise "All this mushy stuff everywhere yuck!" yes for Inkwell Isle's youngest residents this day was nothing special. "Well I think it's sweet" Mugman, however, liked the holiday a lot which didn't really thrill his brother who looked at him fraudulently as if he couldn't believe that his brother was into that kind of thing.
But Iris was not quite finished with her thing because she would still need flowers. Fortunately, a flower store was not far from her house. She wanted to buy yellow roses with homemade sweets to give to her friends for valentines Day gifts. "Oh come on Cuphead Valentine's Day is a day of all love so it doesn't always be romantic" but the pouty lips said otherwise. "It's a day to show people you care and how much you love them in your life, like how I love you guys" she hugged the two cups whose cheeks were slightly flushed.
"Awe we love you too Irie" "Yeah same here... so what kind of sweets are you giving us?" he asked curiously "Oh Cuphead!" Iris rolled her eyes and took away the basket Cuphead looked into that was meant for him. "What just curious!" pouting, he walked away from the basket and sat down on Iris' bed with his arms crossed.
His brother also rolled his eyes and tried to cheer him up as best he could. Iris in turn went downstairs with the baskets to put them away in the basement before heading to the kitchen where Alicia was making some Valentine's Day cards that she enchanted with magic so that little heart particles appeared when you opened the card. Only she wasn't really excited about it.
"Oh man this is so schmaltzy I could puke" yes little enthusiasm she showed as she closed the twelfth card from which came hearts and kissing mouths. "Oh are we a Valentine's Day Denier?" asked Dora while Alicia just nodded her head and said nothing more. Alicia had her reasons why Valentine's Day was not her favorite day.
Iris, however, was very happy about Valentine's Day which is in a few days. Especially because the Valentine's Day amusement park opens at Inkwell Pier. To these she always wanted to go. But unfortunately she would feel out of place with all the couples. In addition, all the game booths were built for couples and not for someone who is single.
That's why she wanted to ask Alicia, Cuphead of Mugman if they would like to go to the pier with her. Then she would not be alone. "Hey Ali-" before she could continue, however, there was a sudden knock on the front door, which confused the three of them. Who could it be? It could not be the letter carrier, also not the milkman or Porkrind. All three would never knock. However Dora would wish that they would.
Curious, Iris went to the front door and opened it. "Who is it Iris darling?" Dora asked her from the kitchen. But there was no one at the front door. The only thing standing in front of the front door was a basket with a name card on it that Iris looked at closely. It was for her. "Ooohh, looks like you have a secret Valentine," Alicia said as she looked over Iris' shoulder. The blushing face of Iris was hard to miss as she took the basket and brought it into the house while Alicia smirked and closed the front door behind her.
The basket were filled with a variety of things. From flowers to chocolates in heart shapes was everything in it that comes in such a typical Valentine's Day basket. But the question was who does this basket come from? Unfortunately, there was no name on it. Well, it did. Mr. S. was written on it. But who was this Mr. S. actually? Iris had been asking herself that for a while. Could it be anyone in particular she knew? Or someone unknown? She didn't know and that's what made it so special. Maybe she will meet Mr. S. soon? After all, it's not long until Valentine's Day.
The next day, Iris was on her way to town with the two cups to pick up flowers her grandmother had ordered. Of course, there was also a lot going on in the city. Many residents were on the road to get gifts for their loved ones. Of course, the flower shop was also cracking full of customers but luckily there was still one salesman free to whom Iris and the two brothers went.
"Hi I'm here for my flower order I made for 17 yellow roses" not only Dora had ordered flowers but also Iris. However, these were also for a few certain people who meant a lot to Iris. "Of course the name Please?" asked the seller Iris who was also the owner of the store. "Iris and Dora Spark" the owner nodded and went to the back of the store to get her and her grandmother's order."Here you go Miss Spark" the owner came back with her order. "Thank you" Iris grabbed the bag with both orders in it and walked outside the Shop with both brothers when sudenly the Devil appears infront of them.
Of course, the two brothers were terrified when the devil stood before them. Both hugged each other tightly and shouted "Ah! The Devil!" while shaking like leaves. Who wouldn't react like that? Well Iris didn't react like that because she was rather annoyed by the devil. Not because he appeared in front of her almost every other day but because he was flirting with her on top of that.
That's why she rolled her eyes in annoyance because it was more or less enough for her. He should understand that she is not interested in him. "Why are you here?" the annoyed tone was hard to overhear as she put the flowers into her small handbag, which looked small from the outside, but was much bigger on the inside than you'd think. "Ah my Darling Iris lovely as always". Unfortunately, the devil didn't understand that Iris was even less enthusiastic when he wrapped his tail around her waist, causing her to have unintentional physical contact with him.
To make the whole thing even more unbearable he reached for her free hand and was ready to kiss it. But Iris pulled it away and removed the tail that was now no longer wrapped around her. Both brothers were no longer afraid of the devil, but were concerned about Iris's well-being, which is why they faced the devil. "Hey! Back off Devil!" growled Cuphead "Yeah leave our Irie alone" added Mugman with a slightly trembling voice.
"Oh...the Cup Brothers are here too..." he grumbled and looked from Iris to the two brothers he had completely overlooked. He knew that one of the two still owed him his soul. "Well luckily for you cup I'm not here for you" that relieved not only Iris but also the two brothers "I'm here to ask my darling Iris something" now Iris was more annoyed than before. "Ok first off ew alnd second I'm not you're anything" she walked past him without looking at him, not wanting to see him again.
But unfortunately the devil was persistent and did not give up as easily as Iris hoped. "Ok I know we gotten off the wrong foot and I may have been out of line..." The devil walked next to her and tried to win her heart, but Iris became even more annoyed than before. "You mean your soul stealing and kidnapping me attempts?" she interrupted him while the devil didn't know what to say or if he should rather keep silent.
After all, he didn't want to mess it up now. Valentine's Day is coming soon and he would like to spend it with her. "But since a special occasion is coming up I wanted to ask you Iris Spark would you be my valentine?" he stood in front of her, got on his knees and made a fire rose appear in his left hand which he wanted to give her. "Ahhhhhh..." Iris didn't have to think long for a response "...no" the rose just as the devil's lips dropped when he heard her reply.
"Oh come on just give me a chance Iris and I know you're fall in love with me" he did not want to give up and Iris noticed that "You and me is never going to happen..." It was also difficult for her to imagine that she should be with the personification of evil. After all, she wants to become a good witch. "So again can you just giveup and leave me alone?". However, the devil did not think of giving up so easily "Never! And you will agree to be my valentine Iris Spark" frustrated that his plan didn't work, he disappeared in a puff of smoke and left the three alone. "He is never going to give up is he?" wondered Iris as she sighed. "I'm sure he won't" added Mugman who also sighed.
After the devil's unwanted visit in front of the flower shop, Iris was spared no rest from the devil in the days that followed. He appeared again and again when Iris was alone. Whether with a bouquet consisting of fire roses, heart-shaped box of chocolates that were equipped with devil horns or even in one of the enchanted cards, the devil appeared again and again in front of her and asked her again and again bitterly if she would like to be his valentine.
But every time he got from her the one and the same answer: "No!" and of course he disappeared every time and growled frustrated that he had failed again. The five days before the actual Valentine's Day became only one. He had to come up with something good so that Iris agreed. But what?
He thought about it, but he couldn't think of anything he could do to win Iris' heart. Frustrated, he decided to hold a meeting with the best of his Imps. Among them were Henchman and unfortunately Stickler.
Everyone was sitting in the meeting room talking about why they were here in the first place. "Don't tell me it's because we have a couple of slackers," an Imp mentioned, folding his arms in annoyance and pouting. The Imp across from him disagreed "It's more likely because something big is planned that the boss wants to discuss with us" the rest of the Imps as well as Henchman and surprisingly Stickler agreed with him.
If it was the former, the boss would have announced it to the entire underworld so that everyone could hear and know what was happening to the slackers. Nobody wanted to think about it, so they waited until the devil came out of the door with his trident in his hand and sat down on his enormous chair while leaning his trident next to it. Everyone looked to him and waited to see what he would say.
"Ok my darling but stubborn Iris has turned me down again" steam came out of his nose as he exhaled from it "And Valentine's Day is tomorrow so anyone got any ideas?". His eyes wandered to everyone sitting on the table, just sweating with fear or nervousness. More likely fear, as some were trembling while one Imp fainted from fear. Only one Imp showed no sign of fear but still sat bored on his chair, not even caring that the devil was present. "Yeah what about take a hint?" he said just like that which startled the others at the table with the exception of Stickler of course.
The Imp sitting next to him whispered in his ear but before he could say anything the devil had already fired at the Imp with his trident and he became a pile of ashes. "Anyone else have a smart remark?" the devil asked in frustration while his rage-filled eyes looked from left to right. Everyone shook their heads with the exception of the Imp, who was still unconscious and lying on the ground, so only his feet and tail were visible.
"Good...now then...Ideas people! Now!" but the devil didn't get an exact answer because all the Imps were silent and pretended to think while the Imp who had fainted came to and whistled nervously. It was enough for the devil. "You!" he pointed his index finger at the imp sitting next to the pile of ashes, looking female. "Me sir?!" the Imp trembled as she pointed to herself. "Give me an idea now...or else" he was in flames as well as the trident with which he pointed at the female imp "What about Cupid?".
The devil calmed down and was no longer on fire. His trident also no longer burned but only smoked "Cupid? Hmm..." he thought and leaned his trident again next to his chair. "You know what that's actually a good idea" that pleased not only the female Imp but also the rest of the people here who clapped and nodded. "Great job since I'm actually feeling generous what's one thing you want?".
The Imp did not think about it for long and pointed to the chair next to her where the ashes lay. "uh can you bring back my husband ..ah please? Pointing and the chair next to her where he fired at the imp sitting in it earlier" the devil groaned "Uh fine" he took his trident and fired at the pile of ashes and the Imp appeared who now did not look bored but exhaled with fear. "Thank you sir" the female Imp hugged the Imp who had come back to life before she slapped him and glared at him angrily.
"I told you that your mouth would get you in trouble some day" his flushed face said many things, but most of the people around the table said nothing. No one wanted to test the devil's fury. They knew that the same would happen to them. "Well now's that's done I better get going" motivated he grabbed his trident and made his way out of the room. "Where are you going boss?" but before he could set foot out of the room the devil looked over his shoulder at Henchman who had asked him the question while the rest of the Imps hid behind the chairs with the exception of Stickler.
"Oh just say hello to my old friend Cupid" his trident touched the ground and he disappeared in a puff of smoke.
Meanwhile in a unknown location in the Inkwell Mountains was a big and beautiful building where there were many human like people with wings where busy at work. Some where monitoring on their computers, some was doing paperwork and others were making Cupid famous love arrows. Then suddenly a tall man walked in.
He was very handsome, with blonde hair wearing a nice white tanned business suit that show off his magnificent wings. It was Cupid himself who appeared before his assistants and co-workers, preparing for tomorrow. The Valentine's Day.
The employees stopped working when they saw him and were very pleased to see him while he was inspecting the work of his co-workers before heading to his office. "Great work everyone I have a feeling that this will be another great year for this Valentine's Day".
A staff member flew up to him and with a cup of coffee in his hand "Your coffee sir" Cupid took the cup and drank some from it. "Thank you Miss Starla" and went into his office to enjoy the rest of the coffee and do some small things he still had to work on. "Hello Cupid". A voice that sounded very familiar to Cupid was heard in the office. He gulped down his coffee and looked at his office chair which was turned around and slowly turned to him.
To his shock, sitting in his office chair was none other than the devil himself. He grinned at Cupid with a mischievous grin "You!" Shocked and angry at the same time, he flew with his wings towards the devil who was slowly getting up from his office chair. "What are you doing here!?" Cupid faced the devil directly at eye level. His face was red with anger.
"Good to see you again Cupid old chum..." he stretched out his hand but Cupid did not shake it but still glared angrily at the devil "What not happy to see your old friend?" "Since when have we ever been friends?" Angrily Cupid flew to his office chair and tried not to pay attention to the devil. That he appeared here just like that made him furious.
Cupid thought of all the things the devil had done. "Especially after some of the things you have done" he took a big sip from his coffee cup which he put down on his table before going on to important things. The devil could wait. At least Cupid hoped so. But unfortunately the devil was persistent, which prevented Cupid from thinking about anything else.
"Oh really now you're still mad at me?" casually, the devil sat down on his desk while his trident was leaning against it. "How you ruined the Valentine's Day parade of 1931?, how you ruined other couples Valentine's Day dates and how you set both my factory and my hair on fire!" he could mention more but then they would sit here until tomorrow morning "What do you think?!".
Enraged, Cupid slammed his hands on his desk "Well at least you're hair grew back nicely" Cupid still did not answer him. He was still angry. That's why the devil didn't try to touch his hair at all, but rather changed the subject. Cupid wondered why the devil was here at all. "Anyway I'm not here to cause any trouble... for once" Cupid looked at him with a confused expression on his face.
"That's a first...ok then Devil why are you here then?" His anger disappeared from his face, but Cupid was still angry with him, even if the devil was acting strangely at the moment. But since tomorrow was Valentine's Day anyway, Cupid didn't want to risk anything. He knew that the devil was very quickly irritable. "Because valentine's Day is tomorrow and you know it's a really busy day for me so..." the devil wagged his tail with joy.
"What do you want?" Cupid was curious to hear what the Lord of the Underworld wanted from him. It had to be something special when he appeared in his office to talk to him personally. "Yes about that..ah..." You could see that it was not easy for the devil to talk about it. But that fascinated Cupid even more. "I actually need your...your..." he sighs "I need your help".
Cupid opened his eyes when he heard this "Wait you're serious? You in love? And you actually need my help?" the devil hoped that Cupid would help him but instead he laughed at him. "Is that really hard to believe?" Cupid wiped away the tear of laughter before continuing to talk to the devil "With you? Yes? What did she not fall in love for this handsome devil?" he laughs sarcastically while the Devil growls.
"Ok Devil let's take a look" said Cupid as he stops laughing and snaps his Fingers. A machine appears. "What are you doing?" however Cupid didn't gave him an awnser yet. Out of the machine came a suction cup that was connected to a metal chain on the machine that attached to his chest. Exactly at the place where his heart is. "This is the Love-o-meter-ray, like a X-Ray but it shows if a person is really in love" he flipped the switch and the machine started working. Amazingly, the machine showed Cupid that the devil was not lying but telling the truth. He was in love.
"Wow you really are in love, so some woman actually warmed your frozen heart?" the Devil nods. Cupid didn't believe that but his assistant who arrived with a file confirming that said something else "Thank you Starla" she thanked him and left his office leaving Cupid alone with the devil.
The file Cupid held in his hands was pitch black. When he opened it, flames rose from it for a moment before Cupid extinguished them with a fire extinguisher that he took out from behind his back. It was not difficult to guess that this file belonged to the devil. However, the devil was a bit surprised that Cupid had a file of his, "What you really think you're the only one who have files of all the people on the Inkwell Isle's?" the devil said nothing.
"Now let's take a look, you have fallen in love with Iris Spark?!" he read through it several times but his eyes did not deceive him. The devil had fallen in love with her. "You don't mean Iris Amora Spark? Good Witch from the Spark Family? Are you serious!?" "Yeah and what's wrong with that?" asked the devil slightly annoyed. "She's good and well your you..." he didn't want to say it but the devil already knew. "So you're going to help me right?".
But unfortunately luck was not on the devil's side as Cupid shook his head "Are you kidding me of course not" he closed the devil's file and put it on the desk while the devil was depressed and his mouth hung down like a child who did not get the dessert he was promised. "Me and the Sparks have been great friends for generations and I know that if Iris deserve to fall in love with someone it should be someone better than you" the devil growled at this answer he just heard. "Why...you...Little!" that he was on fire again could not be ruled out.
But Cupid did not think so much about it but pressed a button that was on his desk and a couple of muscular security guards appeared who held the devil and took him out of his office. "My security will show you out, I would say this visit was nice but we know that be a lie" he waves with his hand " Have a Happy Valentine's Day".
The security guards kicked the devil out of the building, wiped their hands and went back inside. Not very pleased that Cupid couldn't help him, the devil got up from the floor and picked up his trident that was lying next to him on the floor "That Pompous with wings, how dare he talk to me like that..." he was silent when something caught his eye. It was a building that stood next to the main building. Well, it was more like a factory. A factory that made the famous love arrows Cupid was known for. In a container outside the factory were a lot of love arrows and also small bows.
When he saw them, the devil grinned diabolically and mischievously. Yes, he had an idea. A devilish idea you could say.
Back in the underworld
Henchman was cleaning the throne room. The columns were shining, the tapestries had been cleared of dust and looked like new, and the throne was newly polished. Only the floor had to be dusted from the dirt and then he was done with his work. Just as Henchman was about to reach for the vacuum cleaner, the devil appeared in front of him. He grinned, which pleased Henchman. "Oh hey boss how did it go? Is Cupid going to help?" "Even better than that Henchman, I just helped myself to these" behind his back he brought out the stolen bow, as well as quiver with love arrows in it. Henchman gasped.
"Boss?! You stole from Cupid!?" Henchman never thought his boss would do that. Again, he is the devil. He would have guessed that he would do something like this. "Oh he'll be too busy about Valentines Day tomorrow before he finds out and thanks to these babies Iris will be mine and love only me...and I'm going to need your help Henchmen". A bit shocked but also confused, Henchman stared at the devil before he could even say anything "Me?" he pointed at himself while the devil nodded in agreement.
The next day at Spark House, Dora was preparing breakfast with special Valentine's Day pancakes that were heart-shaped instead of the normal shape. The syrup was also pink. Alicia entered the kitchen and yawned while she wished Dora a good morning and sat down. "Good Morining Alicia Happy Valentine's Day" said Dora. "Yes likewise" she was still a little tired and tried to keep herself awake with coffee.
Iris, on the other hand, was as bright as a button and beaming with joy. "Happy Valentine's Day" Iris gave both her grandmother and Alicia a yellow rose and a small heart-shaped box. Inside were candies and snacks. "Oh thank you dear" "Thanks Irie" Iris grinned and her cheeks flushed with joy as she sat down next to Alicia and enjoyed the breakfast Dora prepared for them.
Iris's pancakes had strawberries on them while Alicia's had cherries. They both finished their breakfast and were about to get up when there was a knock at the front door. Alicia got up, went to the front door and opened it behind which Elder Kettle was standing holding a bouquet of red roses. The two brothers were standing right behind him. "Morning guys and morning Elder Kettle" Iris greeted the three while Alicia just yawned and waved at them while rubbing the sleep from her eyes. "Morning Girls," Elder Kettle replied as Dora came out of the kitchen after she finished. The rest of the presents that Iris had prepared for her parents as well as for Poppy and Morton, Dora quickly made them disappear before she left.
Iris, Alicia and the two brothers already knew that Dora and Elder Kettle had a date tonight. That's why Elder Kettle wore a tie with hearts on it. Dora still wore her everyday clothes but a wave of her wand was enough and she wore a beautiful outfit. Elder Kettle blushed when he saw this. "Lovely my dear" he reached for her hand and kissed it before the two left to have a wonderful day. "We'll see ya kids!" "Happy Valentine's Day have fun" the two said before walking through the gate.
"And stay out of trouble!" Alicia just nodded while her gaze fell on Iris and Cuppy before she went back inside and enjoyed the rest of her breakfast. "Ok guys let me just deliver these valentine's gifts then we can go to the Valentine's Day fair at the pier" the enthusiasm increased when they heard that. Even if Cuphead would not be very pleased to see the couples that will be on the pier everywhere.
Iris went back into the kitchen and took her shoulder bag with her and handed the two brothers each a yellow rose and a small bag of cookies inside. Both thanked her and followed Iris while Alicia stayed in the house and looked into the garden. She saw Sparky acting a little strange. The dog looked around several times before jumping over the fence and Alicia almost choked on her coffee. Wherever the dog ran. Alicia wanted to know and followed him.
Inside Porkrind's Shop a presumed figure with a long red nose wearing a turquoise cape and a gray hat
stood in front of the sales counter and looked around in confusion. The store was decorated with hearts. "What's with the hearts?" the figure called Jerry asked Porkrind, who just grinned and pointed to the calendar. He had circled today's date so Jerry could see it.
"It's valentine day and there are a lot of saps who forgot so they are desperate for any gifts to buy for their sweet hearts. Which means great business for me" Jerry scoffs in annoyance "Fools... How could anyone get caught up in this nonesense?" Just as Porkrind was about to say something, the door opened and three familiar figures came through it. "Hey Porkrind!" the two mugs shouted while Porkrind and Jerry just looked annoyed "Oh no" they both said at the same time. Jerry was about to leave but then his eyes caught sight of Iris and he was changed. His cheeks flushed and he stopped like a statue.
"Hi Porkrind...Jerry?" asked Iris him. Jerry nodded and didn't say anything as he blushes more than before "Great I'm glad you're here" she didn't hesitate long and reached into her bag to take out the last two gifts she gave to Porkrind as well as Jerry. The latter was a bit surprised "Really?" he asked again. "Of course, Happy Valentine's Day" she said and handed him a yellow rose. Porkrind accepted his and smelled it before thanking her. "Thanks Kid" and waved after her and the two cups while Jerry also waved and blushed even more.
Of course, Porkrind couldn't help himself and grinned mischievously at Jerry "You were saying?". Of course he didn't like this and shook his head and was back to his old self. For the moment anyway "Oh shut up" annoyed he took his things that Porkrind handed him and went outside.
"Ok guys last gift delivery" Iris was glad that she was done with it. "Now we can go to the pier". This pleased the two brothers very much. The beaming faces were hard to ignore. At least for Iris, who had trouble stifling a giggle. "Alright!" said both brothers as they and Iris walk down the stairs. Hidden behind a tree appeared the Devil with Henchman and the love arrows. "Ah there she is..." he looked to Iris as his Tail wagged "And she looks so beautiful" his tail wagged more and hit Henchman several Times in the face.
"Ah Boss" he pushes the tail aside to get his the Devil's attention. He noticed Henchman who has the love Arrows and the bow in hand. "Oh right..." he clears his troat. "Ok henchman you know the plan?" Henchman nodded "Yes Boss and it's great that these arrows come with a manual" behind his back he grab said manual. "Oh don't worry about the manual henchman, everyone knows the Deal with Cupid's arrows hit someone with the arrow, the person falls in love with the first person they see and that's it".
The devil knew this more than too well and was ready to use the arrows. Henchman, however, read through the manual. In doing so, he read something special. "Actually boss I read it and you should know that...". However, the hand of the devil prevented him from reading further "Not now henchman here they come".
Iris and the cups were walking down the forrest path when suddenly out of a cloud of smoke the Devil appears. All three saw him and ofcourse the cups screamed in terror while Iris rolled with her eyes. "Ah! The Devil!" "Seriously can you just take a hint?" asked Iris annoyed. She wanted to walk away from him but he was stubborn. "Happy valentine's day my darling Iris and I'm here to ask you something".
"Oh please this again, why bother you already know my answer" she said annoyed. It was really annoyjing for her to give him the same answer again and again. She felt like she was in a Cartoon. "Oh I have a feeling you'll think different of me today and say yes to what I'm going to ask you" Henchman heard the sign and aims the love arrow to Iris. "Why would I ever..." she groans in pain as the love Arrow hits her.
Henchman hit her and thankfully both cups didn't saw it and him. Both cups were to worried about Iris as she knees to the ground. "Irie!" both rushes towards her and helped her get up from the ground. "Are you ok?" asked Cuphead worried while Henchman gulped. "Ah jeez" he had a bad feeling. "What's wrong?" Mugman looked at her with concern as Iris stood up and opend her eyes towards the devil. "What happened?" she asked.
"oh dear are you alright my dear?" the Devil asks her. Iris looked to him as her vision gets clear and she didn't know why but when she sees him she starts to blush like she fell in love with him. She smiles and was happy to see him. "Oh yes I'm fine, so what did you want to aske me?" both cups knew something was wrong with Iris. She never would react like that. "Ah... Iris?" asked Cuphead as he waved his hand infront of her face before she lowers it. "Oh I'm glad you asked... Iris Amora Spark would you be my valentine?".
Both brothers know the answer to that Question and grinned smugly. "Oh I would love to" said Iris with a big smile on her face as she walks to the Devil while both cups opens their mouth in shock "WHAT?!" both couldn't believe what they heard. "Wonderful..." he noticed the necklace around her neck "Oh and would you be so kind to remove your necklace for me since I can't take you anywhere with it?".
"Ha yeah right you think our Iris would ever..." before he can finishes his sentence Iris removes her necklace from her neck handing it over to Mugman. "Here Mugsy you can hold it for me" both brothers were shocked and couldn't believe it. Iris removed her necklace. The only thing that could save her from the Devil was no longer around her neck. This was the chance the Devil was looking for as he grins diabolically.
"Ready to go my dear?" asked the Devil Iris. She nods and looks to both brothers "Yep, see ya guys" The Devil smirks at them and disappeared with Iris in a cloud of smoke. "What the heck just happened!?" asked Cuphead confused as he looks to his brother.
Meanwhile the Devil and Iris were all alone. Finally Iris was his and without the necklace he can take her back to the underworld. He was about to do that as he raises his trident but Iris pointed at something in the distance. "Oh look it's the Valentine's Day fair at the pier" He almost forgot about it. "Oh could we go? It would be fun spending Valentine's Day together please" begged Iris giving the Devil puppy dog eyes.
He couldn't ignore them and give in. It wouldn't be a problem and without that necklace he can take her back to the underworld any time he wants "As you wish my dear" a fire rose crone appears in his hand he placed on top of her head. Iris smiled and hugged his arms looking up to him with sparkles in her eyes .
Meanwhile the cups were still trying to process what had just happened. Iris was changed from one second to the next. She would never have voluntarily said yes to the devil or taken off her necklace. "What just happened?" asked Cuphead while he throught. Something was not right here. But what? "This is bad!?" "Did the world go nuts?" both brothers didn't know what to do. "What's wrong with Irie to act like that?".
"He must have something to do with it?" Mugman said before Cuphead throught. He didn't see the Devil doing anything to her. He didn't uses his trident. "But how?". Then a mysterious stranger appeared in front of the two with angel like wings. "The location said a arrow was just used here" it was Cupid holding a device in his hand with an antenna as he looks around not noticing the brothers. "Hey!" he noticed them now.
"Who are you?" asked Cuphead as he walks up to Cupid. "Oh sorry I didn't know anyone was here" he clears his throat before he continues to speak "Allow me to introduce myself.I'm Cupid". Mugman gasped like his brother "Cupid? As in the Cupid" the person nods to his Question "The one and only. Now tell me boys did you see anything unusual happening today or any arrows around?" Henchman who hide behind the bushes slowly moves away with the bow and arrows in his hand.
Actually Cuphead and Mugman noticed something odd today "Well we were with our friend Iris then the Devi showed up and..." "Hold on the Devil showed up?!" Cupid asked in shock as both brothers nodded. "Yes" said both while Cupid growls in anger as his face turns red. But than he remembers something. "Your friend wouldn't happen to be Iris Spark?".
Both Cups nodded to his Question "Yes that's our friend" said Mugman. "What happended exactly when the Devil showed up?" he was curious about it since the Devil was up to no good. "Well he is interested in our Friend, than she acted weird as he asked her to be his Valentine" "And she said yes" Cuphead was about to puke. "Normally she turned him down".
"Oh no I was afraid of this" Cupid said nervous as he looks at his device "Well a set of my love arrows were stolen and it looks like the Devil was at my factory yesterday" both brothers gulped "Don't tell us he..." Cupid nodded "I'm afraid so that no good sneak stolen my arrows and used it on Iris" none of them wanted to hear that. Iris should never be with the devil let alone be in love with him at all.
Cuphead and Mugman just shook their heads while they had to process the whole thing. "Oh great that jerk made Iris fall in love with one of your love arrows!" Cupid, however, didn't seem to pay any attention to him because at the moment he was looking for Iris and the devil with his radar. However, this still caused him problems. Anyway, this was seen by Mugman who approached Cupid "Cupid sir is there anything we can do to save our Irie?" he asked curiously while Cupid managed to get the radar working. It pointed with an arrow in the direction where Iris was.
"Don't worry boys there is a way to undo the effects of the love arrows" both were astonished to hear that. So they could help Iris after all. "There is?!" asked both. "We just need to find the other arrow set and hit Iris with another arrow and she'll be back to her oldself". How simple this may sound Cuphead had doubts about it. "Really that's it?". Cupid nodded "Well we also have to figure out where the devil took Iris" Cupid pulled out his pocket watch.
He looked at it and knew he had to hurry. "What's that?" Mugman looked curiously at the wristwatch of Cupid who looked from it to him. "My pocket watch" Cuphead tilted his head to the side "How is your watch going to help us?". This question Cupid gladly answered the cup "This watch can also show us the location of all my arrows and it seems the nearest place of set of arrows is at the pier"
Both hands that were for the minutes and hours pointed in the direction of the pier. "Then what are we waiting for? We got to get your arrows back!" Encouraged, Cuphead ran ahead followed by his brother and Cupid "Don't worry Iris we're save you!".
Meanwhile at the valentine day fair at the pier
Iris and the devil walked along the pier at stalls that sold various things or were purely game booths. Besides these, there were attractions like roller coaster and food stalls. But the devil did not care about this. He had Iris with him and was more than happy. That it had worked surprised him very much, actually he would never have thought that Iris would fall in love with him so easily.
She nuzzled his arm and smiled. The other guests who were also at the pier did not really pay attention to the two. This did not really bother the devil. Well, except for one thing. "Step right up test your strength with the high striker!" yelled a carny that the devil and Iris walked past. The devil didn't want to attract attention but the carny saw him "You young cat...man?" the carny didn't know what to say, the devil noticed him anyway.
"Me?" "Yes you" the carny went to the two and pulled the devil to him while he let go of Iris who only looked after him in confusion. "What do you say? Test your strength? Maybe win a prize for your sweetheart?" Carny put his hand on the devil's shoulder and stared at him and then at Iris. "And might I say what a sweetheart" he had the gall to wink at Iris who is blushes a bit from that comment while the devil growled.
He grabs the hammer from the carny "Fine! Watch this my darling" he kisses her hand. Iris smiles and blushes more than before. The Carny opens his hand as the Devil gave him five bucks. "Piece of cake" the devil lifts the hammer and hits the center but only made it to "wimp" "What!? The Carny snickers a little. Angry the Devil gave him another five bucks as he tries to hit the center again. But this time it only made it up to whiner. "Oh better luck next time" the Carny laughs at the devil.
This of course did not please the devil who did not want to out himself as a wimp in front of Iris. No, he did not give up, but instead used his trident to vent his rage on the carny, who meanwhile counted the money he had received from his stand. "Oh that's it!" with his trident he aimed at the stand and fired a fireball at it.
Of course the stand was destroyed which shocked Iris as well as Carny who held only ashes in his hands instead of banknotes. "Looks like I win, you don't have a problem with that..." the devil stared at the carny in rage with his right eye "do you?" the carny said nothing but shook his head in fear as the devil pointed his trident menacingly in his face. Shaking and nervously swallowing, the Carny gave the devil a stuffed animal as a prize. It was a penguin that Iris held happily in her arms.
"No problem here, here's your prize" "Thank you," Iris hugged the penguin tightly and looked from it to the devil. She was more than happy. "I love the gift but was that really nessicery?" asked Iris him while the two walked along the fair. "Oh that carny was asking for it" the devil explained to her while trying to control his anger and spend a nice evening with Iris before returning to the underworld with her.
"Honestly that temper of yours... I bet you can't go the rest of the day without losing your cool" she bet with him. "Oh come on I could so..." he throught about it before continuing "hmm...fine why not we make a little wager" "I didn't mean it but ok what do you have in mind?" asked Iris. The devil thought while Iris waited impatiently.
"Ok what about this if I don't lose my temper all the way till night you'll give me a reward" the devil grinned mischievously. He knew what he would ask of Iris if he won. "And if you lose, you'll have to be nice to someone else who's been bugging you for three weeks". This did not please him, but the devil did not want to refuse the bet, so he made it. "Alright deal" they both shook hands. Before they could go any further, Iris reminded the devil not to cheat. "What me cheat?" he was taken aback when she said that. But Iris just gave him a knowing look.
Thus started the bet between the two while they were walking along the fair and passing the time
Meanwhile at the other side of the pier Cuphead, Mugman and Cupid appeared and followed the trail of love arrows here. "Okay my watch says that the missing arrows should be over here" "Where?" asked Cuphead looking around the pier. "Right in front of us" they looked around in front of them and so far notice nothing except crowds of people til Cupid noticed something. It was Henchman who was at one of the many claw machines trying his luck to get one of the prizes.
"Look at the claw machine that's Henchman. He works for the devil and next to the machine are..." "Your arrows!" Mugman finished as he points at the arrows and the bow. "Don't worry I'm on it!" Cuphead said as he approached Henchman unobtrusively. He slowly crept up to him and grabbed the arrows and the bow without Henchman noticing. He was too busy with the claw machine.
"All most got it!" said the latter dejectedly as he let go the claw the price. He turned around, grabbed the arrows and was about to leave but then he felt some change in his pocket and decided to play another round "Ok one more go" While Henchman was distracted Cuphead approached the arrows. He was about to reach for them when suddenly the machine made a loud sound. "Winner!" said the machine as Henchman won.
Distracted by his prize, the Demon Imp did not notice that the arrows and the bow were no longer in his possession but in the hands of Cuphead who returned with them to his brother and Cupid. Only when Henchman tried to grab them and reached into the void did he realize that the arrows were gone. "Ah jeez Boss won't like this".
"Good work Cuphead" Cupid said as he held the arrows in his hands again and was glad that they did not fall into the wrong hands. "No problem... now we need to find Irie" explained Cuphead who looked around together with his brother. But nowhere did they see Iris or the devil. Although the latter could be recognized by his horns. "Lucky for us my watch can also locate people" he looked at his watch and showed it to both brothers. Iris was visible through a blinking dot while Cupid was an arrow. "Now let's see... Iris is...here?!".
The dot and the arrow were not far from each other. That's why Cupid was shocked because he hoped that Iris was actually in the underworld. But not here. "She's here? At the fair?" Mugman asked while Cupid nodded. "Well then why are we just standing around for!? Let's go and find her!".
The three set out to find Iris and the devil, searching everywhere on the pier. But whenever they hoped to find them somewhere, Iris and the devil always ran past the three of them. The latter both enjoyed the evening very much and had a lot of fun together. Both rode the rides and ate together. Even a joint Valentine's Day photo the two have shot in a photo booth. But the photo was not the highlight for the devil but the kiss that Iris gave him.
He blushed and looked at Iris in love before giving her a kiss as well. A little later, the two of them walked together under the switched-on lanterns and held hands. The day was perfect for the devil and also for Iris. "So my dear would you say you had an amazing day?" asked the Devil her. "I have to say today was an amazing valentine's Day date, I don't know how it could get any better".
"Really? Watch this" he uses his fire powers to make a big fire heart in the night sky, wowing everyone at the pier and especially Iris.
Meanwhile at another part of the fair
"Oh this is nuts" Cuphead said annoyed "We looked everywhere but still no sign of her" added Mugman. Both brothers were close to giving up. Cupid, however, did not. He did not want to give up so easily. No, he was not like that. Cupid was tough and stubborn, and besides, he knew what it meant if they didn't find Iris and reverse the spell before midnight. She would fall in love with the devil forever and ever.
"Where one earth could they be?" he now also asked himself when he and the two cups in the sky saw the heart of fire. "What the heck is that?" asked Cuphead confused and scared at the same time. "I don't know but something tells me we should go to that part of the pier" the three of them followed the heart that was slowly dissolving.
Iris was more than surprised by the heart. "Well my dear what do you think?" "It's beautiful" Iris' eyes sparkled as she stared at him. The devil liked that. "Well looks like I won our little wager" yep the devil had won the bet and Iris conceded defeat "It seems so". "So what do I get?" the devil asked curiously as Iris reached out and looked him in the eye. "This" she gave him a kiss on the lips. This surprised the devil very much who blushed even more than before. He enjoyed it very much because finally he could kiss her. His pupils took on hearts as he continued to kiss her.
Not far away Cuphead, Mugman and Cupid appeared and watched the whole thing. Well, Mugman rather because Cuphead and Cupid were still looking for Iris. "I see her and she..." that he saw Iris kissing the devil didn't really please him. Cuphead and Cupid looked in the same direction as he did. "What the?" before Cupid could say anything he noticed how the devil slowly looked in their direction and grabbed both cups and hid with them behind a tent.
The devil should not see them. Otherwise they could not hit Iris with the arrow. But the sight of Iris kissing the devil made Cuphead and Cupid's stomach ache. "Oh my..." he held his hand in front of his mouth "I think I'm going to be sick" Cuphead followed suit, but his face slowly turned green. Mugman, on the other hand, couldn't hold it any longer and threw up in a trash can that was not far from the three of them.
Iris broked the kiss and saw the devil looking at her with a silly but also amorous smile on his face. She giggled a little bit at his reaction. "Ok sweetie I'll be right..." before she could finish the sentence the devil interrupted her. "Where are you going my darling?" he asked curiously. "I just need to use the ladies room" she pointed to the toilets where Cupid and the two cups were also looking. The devil nodded understandingly "Oh of course...well... I'll be waiting here then" he said and gave her a kiss on the forehead while Iris smiled at him.
"Don't worry I 'll be right back" Iris gave him a kiss on the cheek which made the devil blush. "Take your time" she nodded and went to the toilets. Satisfied, the devil sighed and looked at the ocean and the moon reflected on the water surface. "What an amazing day" he said and little hearts appeared above his head. But how much the devil likes the view unfortunately this wonderful beautiful atmosphere was disturbed by someone. He heard a ding behind him and saw the elevator from which Henchman came looking at him worriedly. "Ah boss I need to tell you something...".
"Now's our chance!" the two cups and Cupid followed Iris who was washing her hands and coming out of the bathroom when she saw both brothers standing in front of her and smiled at her. "Irie!" cried the two brothers, hugging their legs tightly. "Cuphead? Mugman? What are you guys doing here?" she asked, confused and delighted at the same time.
Both brothers knew that Iris would ask them that, which is why they stuck to the plan and nodded at each other. "oh we just have something to tell you" "It's really important!" Cuphead added. Now Iris was confused. What was so important that they had to discuss? "Oh can it wait until later? I'm still on my date and it's been amazing" she sighs happily.
"It's something really important we have to say" Mugman nervously mentioned "It will be quick we promise then you can get back to your..." he tried to keep his food inside and not run to the nearest trash can like Mugman did earlier. "date" he added before sticking out his tongue in disgust. "Ok guys what is it?" asked Iris both brothers.
Both of them looked behind Iris and saw Cupid cocking the bow with the love arrows and nodding to both brothers. "We just want to say we're sorry about this" now Iris was even more confused "Sorry? For what?" just as she finished this sentence she felt a sharp pain in her back and moaned slightly in pain. Cupid had hit her with his arrow and the love effect disappeared and the old Iris reappeared.
The pink color eyes that was previously the color of her eyes when she was hit by Henchman with the love arrow change back to normal and a heart appeared above her head broke and disappeared. "Irie are you ok?" asked Mugman nervously and anxiously as he moved his hand back and forth in front of her eyes. Iris blinked several times until she answered him. "Oh what happened? When did we get to the pier?" she asked, looking around in confusion as the effect slowly faded like the pain.
"You don't remember anything about today?" Cuphead asked her. Iris shook her head as she looked around and asked what happened. "It's a minor side-effect of the arrows" said a third voice that Iris didn't know yet and therefore looked around confused until she saw a person standing in front of her that Iris recognized immediately. "Cupid?" she asked in amazement.
"Lovely to see you Iris wish it was for a better reason" His voice sounded more depressed than pleased, as one would expect from Cupid. Normally he was always happy when he met young people like Iris. So much that he would like to fall in love with each other immediately. However, this did not seem to be the case with Iris, because she had to learn the truth. "Guys? What's going on?" she asked the three. Both brothers looked even more depressed than Cupid. "Well...".
The three told Iris what exactly happened while she was under the influence of the love arrows. First she was shocked, then frightened and finally angry. Iris' cheeks became redder with every second. Not with embarrassment but with anger. "WHY!... THAT... NO... GOOD!...SON OF A..." Iris growled when she heard how the devil hit her with the love arrows.
Of course she was furious and wanted to get back at the devil who was waiting for her. "What on earth is taking her so long?" he asked himself while impatiently waiting for Iris to return. "Shouldn't we be worried about Cupid Arrows boss?" Henchman asked him nervously. "Why worry? Things are working out freat. Iris agreed to be my Valentine, we had an amazing day and date. Most importanly Iris loves me and I finally kissed her henchman".
"But boss there's something you need to know about Cupid arrows they can..." he fell silent when he heard the last sentence from the devil. "You what! Kissed!?" he gasped and his wings waved in delight. "Details, I want details" Henchman asked him curiously. "I'll tell you as soon as we go back home with my bride" but where she was, the devil asked himself, looking around curiously.
He didn't have to wait long, however, as Iris appeared from afar and approached him, trying to hide her furious face behind a smile so that the devil wouldn't notice that she was no longer under the influence of the love arrows. "Ah there you are darling I was starting to worry" the devil wagged his tail for joy. "Oh I'm sorry for making you worry" Iris apologized to him. Well, actually she didn't want to apologize because she was still angry with him.
"Not to worry my dear we are together, henchman is here with the elevator and we can go to your new home back in the underworld" Henchman waved and smiled nervously at her while Iris looked to him and then to the elevator the devil wants to push her into. But before he could do that, Iris said something. "Sounds wonderful..." She had to pull herself together not to vomit. "Oh sweetie before we go I just want to give you one last surprise".
"Surprise?" the devil asked her, rejoicing even more than before. Iris flutters sweetly with her eyes at him. "Really?" she nodded and the devil was even more pleased than before. "Close your eyes" she whispered to him while the devil did so and pressed his lips together in a kiss while waiting for a kiss from her.
But it did not come to a kiss but to a punch in the face. The devil felt this and therefore opened his eyes in confusion and looked at Iris who now no longer looked in love but angry. He groans in pain while the two cups, Henchman and Cupid closed their eyes or hide them behind their hands only to look through a small opening. "Why would you do that?" asked the devil her before he noticed someone behind her.
To his surprise and anger it were the cups and Cupid himself. The latter one held the arrows behind his back but the devil saw them. "oh no" he rolls with his eyes before he looks to Iris. "That's for stealing Cupid's arrows and having me under a love spell just so I go on a date with you!" Iris stated with anger in her eyes. "Well you kept turning me down" "How is that a good reason for what you did!?" Iris shouted at him.
"But you had a nice time didn't you?" Iris was a bit taken back as she heard that. She wouldn't want to say that out load but she does remember everything now and surprisingly she had a fun time with him. "T-That's not the point you..." The Devil smiles. He saw it in her face that she liked it. Her face flushes a bit "Ah ha! So you did have a nice time with me!".
She blushed even more than before and didn't know whether to agree with him or not. Actually, he was right. The time with him had been fun. "I didn't say that" she replied, trying not to look him in the eye. "But you're also not denying it either" the devil added and grinned mischievously. "You had me brainwashed under the effect of Cupid love arrow you stole!".
"Ok the love arrows effect is gone but since you don't have your necklace..." Iris' eyes widened as the devil said this. Yes, she no longer wears her necklace around her neck. The one that was supposed to protect her from the devil and any dark magic. "You're coming with me!" He grabs her arm and was ready to take her to the underworld but instead he gets shocked yet again. The Devil moans in pain as he shakes himself and saw Iris having her necklace back in her hand.
He moans more before he passes out and lands on the ground. Henchman took the opportunity and dragged the knocked out devil into the elevator that appeared behind him while the others neither said nor did anything. "Ah we're better get going...sorry for everything Cupid sir and you Miss Spark" the door closes and the elevator disappear back to the underworld.
With the devil out of the way, Iris exhaled in relief and turned to the three while placing her necklace around her neck. "What a day..." she sighed "Sorry we didn't get to enjoy the fair guys". "Hey we are just glad your safe and back to the Iris we know and love" said Cuphead. She smiles and couldn't help herself but to hug both brothers. "Awe guys" both brothers smiled and hugs her as well. "Well the fair is still open and we still have some time for some games and rides..." mentions Mugman.
"Why not it's still Valentine's Day...let's go" Iris run ahead while Cuphead follows her. Only Mugman stopped and turns to Cupid. He was busy with his arrows and writes something on his notepad. "Mr. Cupid would you like to join us?" asked the younger brother. "I would love to but I have to get back to work and improve my security at my factory..." he stopped talking. Cuphead and Iris stood next to him. "Oh come on take a day off you deserve it" "Thanks to you guys I'm not in the underworld" menations the two.
"I guess I could have some fun for a bit" Cupid closes his note pad and puts it behind his back to join the others.
Later back in the Spark house
"Despite everything today I'm glad I still got to enjoy the fair with you guys" Mugman agreed with her "Awe same here irie and I'm just glad your safe and back to your old self" she smiles and agrees with him. "I still can't believe you were ga ga over the devil and that you actually.." he holds his hand in front of his mouth as he gags a bit before continuing "...kissed him".
Iris groans "Don't remind me" she gags too. "Don't worry I promise you that it won't happen again. I'm going to improve my factory security" Cupid promised her and pats her shoulder. "I hope so" before anyone could say anything Alicia walks out of the entrance door. Iris was glad to see her again but she then asked herself where she was all day long. "Hey Alicia, where have you been all day?".
Alicia was happy to answer this question for her "Well I found out where Sparky been wondering off too" Iris and the others looked to her with a questionable face until Alicia told her and the others to follow her behind the house. "He is in the back of the house with his new friend" Iris was even more confused and looked until she saw what Alicia meant by new girlfriend. "New friend?" both brothers said as they looked behind the house. Besides Sparky, there was another puppy behind the house. A female puppy to be exact.
It was a femal pomsky "Sparky? And a girl pomsky? Awe" "They are so cute together" Mugman added while Cuphead was about to puke "oh Sparky not you too" Iris and the others rolled with their eyes and were annoyed. He was not a fan of Sparky being lovey dovey too and wanted to get inside when walks on a stick accidentally making a sound.
The femals pomsky noticed them and got defensive. To everyones surprise she magically turned into a bigger wolf dog. Like Sparky only she has fire powers instead of electric like Sparky. The latter stepped in and calmed her down confusing her before Iris slowly stepped forward and called Sparky. "Sparky come here boy" which he happily does while the female dog slowly comes to her. "Hi...don't worry I won't hurt you" promised Iris and stretches her hand out for the female pomsky to sniff it.
She sniffs it and looks to Sparky who nods his head. The female wags her tail and let Iris pet her. "Awe aren't you a little sweetie, you two must be hungry from all day let's get you two something to eat" with her wand she magically made two dog bowls appear with food for both of them. Both dogs ate the food while Alicia noticed someone new in the group "And who's that?" she asked and points to Cupid.
"Cupid nice to meet you Miss Powell" he shakes her hand with which she pointed at him. "Cupid, the Cupid! What are you doing here?!" "Kinda a long story" Cuphead answered her while he and his brother looked at her with dull eyes and yawned. Iris was also tired from all the events she had experienced today. Besides the thing with the devil and the love arrows, she wanted only one thing. And that was to go to bed. "Well guys it's been a long day... yawn I'm going to call it a day" she rubs her eyes.
But Alicia wanted to know what happened "So what happened?". Both brothers, Cupid and Iris looked to eachother and nodded before they awnsered her Question. "Well..." before Cuphead could say something the mailman showed up and gives Alicia a basket full of sweets from a secret valentine surprising everyone. Of course, Alicia was surprised about who had sent her the basket, since she actually knew nothing about a secret admirer.
Iris, however, wanted to discuss this with her tomorrow and decided to go to her room to recover from today. Going up the stairs, Sparky followed her. Once in her room, she put her bag down on her chair and took out the plush penguin the devil had won for her. She also took out the photos she had taken with the devil in a photo booth.
She didn't know why but part of her wanted to rip up the photos and throw them in the trash can. Another part, however, was against it. The latter won the argument and Iris decided to keep the photos despite the whole thing that happened today. However, she wanted to hide the photos well, so she hid them in a box and placed the penguin on the bookcase that was above her bed. In this she lay down and tried to sleep. Sparky jumped on the bed and lay down next to her while Iris slowly and tenderly stroked his back.
Meanwhile in the underworld.
The devil lay in his bed and let himself be taken care of by Henchman who wrapped bandages around his arms, belly, chest, his right horn and left leg. His tail was also partially wrapped with bandages. With his free hand, the devil took the ice pack from Henchman's hand and placed it on his forehead and the black eye that Iris had given him.
"Thank you Henchman" the devil thanked him and moaned slightly as he put the ice pack on his eye and eased the pain. "Your welcome boss" his wings wagged like a dog's tail before he pointed a threatening finger at the devil like a parent admonishing a child. "I hope you learn not to steal from Cupid again" the devil nods.
He learned his lesson. "Trust me after today I don't ever want to be mixed up with his stupid arrows..." he groans in pain and sighs. "I was so close henchman" he said gloomily, showing with his fingers how far he was from bringing Iris here. "Okay sure didn't go the way you wanted it boss...but you did get her to be your valentine, you spent the whole day together and you even got a kiss from Iris" he was right about that.
The Devil got a kiss from her and to think about it makes him smile. The pain was gone and his eyes shows hearts like the one appear above his head. "True" he said with a lovestruck face. "You still might have a chance to get her to fall for you yet" but that cheered him up again. Yes, he could win Iris over without love arrows.
"Now get some rest...the doctor said you need plenty of rest from all the injuries you got today" the devil said nothing to that. Henchman disappeared from his bedchamber and left the devil alone with his thoughts. Yes, he did not get his bride, but still he did not want to give up. But henchman was right he did get her to be his valentine, got to spend the whole day together with her and got to kiss her.
Despite the setback and getting beaten up by both iris and her necklace. He was still far away from giving up on winning iris love, he placed the photo on his bedside table smiling as he Drifted off to sleep thinking about his sweet Iris and how today was the best Valentine's Day ever
