After The Storm

Chapter 22

Author's note :settle in and stay tuned.

Awhile later

(What did you say to Salem? Why did she act like she did when meeting Lux.?) Brooke asked.

As she closed the door to her bedroom.

Lucas shut the door to his office.

(What do you mean what did I say? I did nothing but encourage her to give him a chance.) Lucas replied.

(Lucas just be honest with me. You want to sabotage what I have with Lux!)

(You know how important it is to me that everyone gets along.) Brooke exclaimed.

(I don't care about Lux. I barely know him. I want you to be happy. And settled if you are great. Whatever Salem feels is her own.)

(Our daughter has a mind of her own.) Lucas replied.

Brooke sighed deeply. (I'm sorry. I didn't mean to react like that. I just thought.) Brooke began to say.

(I would never use our daughter to destroy you're relationship.)

(Are we still meeting for lunch.?) Lucas questioned.

(Yeah. I'll be waiting.) Brooke replied.

...

With a waterfront view in the distance. Brooke took a small sip of her tall drink.

A waiter brought over two separate plates of appetizers.

It was then that Lucas made it over to the table.

Lucas smiled as he sat down across from her.

(Nachos for you. Sliders for me.)Brooke said.

Brooke ate one and danced happily.

Lucas laughed and smiled. He liked seeing Brooke enjoy herself.

(Do you and him do random lunches like this?) Lucas asked.

As he started to eat the nachos.

Brooke finished her second slider then looked to him.

(No. We see each other when his schedule fits it in.)

(I normally don't even eat lunch in front of him or dinner really.)

(If he saw me like this. No make up. Eating carb rich food like this. He wouldn't know what to say.) Brooke admitted.

(I don't have to play a part with you. I can just be myself. Raw and unfiltered.) Brooke added in.

Lucas wanted to ask more about their relationship dynamic. But decided against it.

(How are you and Lindsey?) Brooke asked.

(Honestly. I love her. But I'm not in love with her. I'm just waiting for that to happen.) Lucas admitted.

(Do you ever think about that night. We had. The hotel room. All of it.?) Lucas questioned.

Brooke swallowed hard. Yes I think about it more than I should.

She thought to herself.

(It's a distant memory. It's forgotten.) Brooke replied.
