Chapter 4: A Nun and a Rescue Mission

It had been a week since Issei and Colton started to complete summoning requests.

Issei was actually a little late to school, which was strange considering he always got to school at the same time each day.

Once school was over, everyone was gathered in the ORC building.

"You met a what!?" Rias yelled.

As it turns out, Issei had just explained how he met a nun and guided her to the abandoned church.

Rias then berated Issei for being careless, and being near someone who is considered an enemy.

Once Rias had calmed down, Colton spoke up. "You said she had a sacred gear?"

"Yeah. She called it Twilight Healing." Issei answered.

Colton's eyes widened. "That is a very powerful sacred gear. The best healing based sacred gear to exist."

"Really?"

"Yeah. I heard rumors that people would actually kill to try and get that sacred gear."

Issei then began to get worried. "You don't think she's in danger do you?"

Colton shrugged.

Rias then spoke back up. "Issei, for your own good, please don't go near that girl. She's a nun, one of our natural enemies."

Issei sighs. "Yes President."

"What's her name anyway?" Colton asked.

"Her name is Asia. Asia Argento."

It was the next day, school has been done for a while, and everyone except Issei were hanging around the ORC building.

Issei suddenly bursted in.

"Guys! A problem!"

Everyone became alert. "What is it!?" Colton asked.

"Asia got taken by fallen angels. They're planning on taking her sacred gear!"

"Oh, that's not good."

Rias then spoke up. "And what are you going to do about it?"

"I'm planing on getting her back, with or without you guys."

"That's a foolish move, entering enemy territory alone. Even if you can use the pawn promotion system to temporarily promote yourself to another piece, charging in alone is a death sentence." Rias said as she and Akeno left the building.

Issei punched the floor in frustration.

"Issei." Colton said getting his attention.

"Do you really care for Asia?"

Issei gained a determined look. "Yes. She's my friend, and knowing she's in trouble worries me a lot."

Colton smiled. "You may be a perv. But you got heart. C'mon, we have a friend to save."

Koneko, Kiba and Colton got up.

"Wait. You mean-" Issei started.

"Rias said that charging in alone is foolish, but what if your not alone?"

Issei gained a big, genuine smile. "Thanks guys."

"Don't thank us just yet. We haven't saved Asia yet." Kiba said.

"Right. Let's go." Issei said as they all left the building.

As they were leaving a thought crossed Issei's mind. 'The way Asia reacted to Yuma- I mean Raynare. It seemed like she pitied her. Raynare seemed hesitant to take her... maybe we can convince her to stop.'

The 4 peerage members were positioned right outside the abandoned church.

Koneko started to sniff the air. "They know we're here."

"In that case, let's go in." Colton said.

As the technical strongest, and highest piece of the 4 of them, Colton was automatically the leader.

Colton readied a powerful magic blast in his hand and threw it at the entrance.

The entrance was destroyed and the 4 of them charged in.

They get in to find a stray priest waiting for them.

"It's that jerk: Freed." Issei said.

"Well, well. If it isn't a bunch of devil trash."

"Where's Asia!?" Issei yells.

"If you really want to know, I'll tell you. It's not like you'll survive anyway. She's in the basement below the alter."

Everyone got on guard.

"Now, time to die!" Freed exclaimed as he charged with a light sword in hand.

Kiba met him half way, with a different sword then his usual.

Kiba's sword clashed with Freed's, it was draining the light out of it.

"What the!?" Freed exclaimed.

"This is my sacred gear: Holy Eraser. It can negate any holy or light based attack."

"What a troublesome gear. Makes me want to kill you more."

Freed then jumped back and pulled out a gun.

Freed fired a bullet to which Colton put up a barrier. The bullet tore through the barrier, causing Colton to dodge.

"Careful! Those are holy bullets!" Colton warned.

Colton shot a fireball, to which Freed dodged.

He then charged at Issei.

Issei summoned his gear and was lucky enough to block Freed's attack.

Freed was pushing him back.

"Just give up devil scum."

"Never! Not as long as my friends need my help!" Issei declared.

Issei's gear began to shine, causing Freed to jump back.

The light died down and Issei had the full gauntlet.

"You unlocked the full gauntlet Issei! You can use the boost now!" Colton exclaimed.

"Right. BOOST!" Issei shouted as his power doubled.

Issei then promoted himself to a rook and delivered a powerful punch to Freed.

Freed was launched back.

Freed was getting back up.

"Kiba, Koneko. Keep him occupied. Issei, let's go save your friend." Colton commanded.

Everyone nods.

Kiba and Koneko block Freed, and Colton and Issei ran to the alter.

Colton launched a spell at it, destroying it.

The two then jump down into the basement below.

They land and see fallen angels.

Colton began firing attacks at them, causing them to make distance.

Colton then turned to Issei. "Promote to a knight. We're going to run right through them."

"On it." Issei said.

Colton then surrounded the two in a magic barrier. They took off, running at fast speeds.

Thanks to the barrier, they knocked down and fallen that was in their way.

Once they got through they found the room they were looking for.

In the room they saw Asia chained against the wall.

They also saw the same fallen angel who killed both of them.

"I'm sorry. But if I want recognition, I must do this. I just hope I can get your forgiveness some day." The fallen: Raynare, said to Asia as her sacred gear was extracted from her.

"No! We're to late!" Colton exclaimed.

Raynare turns to face the two of them. They could see tears in her eyes.

The two got in battle stances.

Raynare hesitated, but summoned a light spear.

Issei summoned his sacred gear.

Raynare looked shocked for a second at seeing the gear. Then she gave a sad smile. After she smiled, she gained a determined look.

"I'm sorry for killing both of you and your friend, but I need to do this."

Issei charged in as Colton provided support.

Raynare threw spear after spear, trying to hit them.

The two kept dodging the attacks.

Issei, while boosted, delivered a hard punch to Raynare, knocking her back.

Colton used a powerful lightning spell to shock her.

Raynare screamed in pain as she fell. She tried to get up, but couldn't. The lightning spell was incredibly powerful and did a huge amount of damage to her.

Colton approached the downed Raynare.

Colton prepared a magic blast in his hand and held it in front of Raynare.

"Give back the gear and I'll spare your life."

Raynare gained a look of confusion. "Your not going to kill me?"

"From the few times we interacted, I can tell your a decent person at heart. Give back the gear, leave and never come back. Do that, and I spare you, but you will owe me one."

Raynare was hesitant, but held out Twilight Healing.

Colton took the sacred gear from Raynare's hand.

Colton then dismissed the magic blast.

Colton put Twilight Healing on his fingers and held his hand out to Raynare, healing her.

Colton took Twilight Healing off as he walked towards Asia.

Colton the waves his hand as a dark portal appeared. "You can leave through that."

Raynare didn't hesitate going through.

Once Raynare left, Colton turned to Issei.

"Did I do the right thing, Issei?"

Issei looked to be in thought. "Yes. I believe you made the right choice."

Issei then picked up Asia's body.

The two of them walk back up to the main room to find Rias and Akeno there as well.

"What happened to the priest?" Colton asked.

"He ran." Koneko replied.

Issei then placed Asia's body on the ground.

Colton walked over to her and placed Twilight Healing on her.

The gear did nothing.

"I can feel her soul slipping away. She died moments after the gear was extracted, but she hasn't fully moved on yet." Colton explained. This caused Issei to start crying.

"How can you tell?" Kiba asked.

"..." Colton remained silent, just looking at Asia.

Colton then looked at Issei and tapped his shoulder.

Issei turned and wiped his eyes. Colton motioned towards Rias, then towards Asia.

Issei understood.

Issei got up and turned to Rias. "President, please reincarnate Asia."

Rias then thought for a moment. 'She's a nun, which means she won't give up her beliefs even if she becomes a devil. Issei seems to really care about her, he shed genuine tears. She's the user of Twilight Healing, one of if not the best healing based sacred gear.'

"Alright. I will reincarnate her." Rias declared.

"Thank you so much!" Issei exclaimed.

Rias then walked over to Asia's body and pulled out a bishop piece.

She used the piece to resurrect Asia. At the same time, Twilight Healing sunk into Asia, becoming her sacred gear once again.

It took a few moments, but Asia eventually woke up.

"W-what happened?" Asia questioned as she was getting up.

"Asia!" Issei yells as he runs and hugs her.

Asia, still disoriented, was shocked. "I-Issei!?"

After a few moments Issei let go.

"What happened, at first I was chained up and then it felt like... I died."

"Welcome back to the land of the living." Colton welcomed. "Although it's not exactly in the way you expected."

"W-what does that mean?" Asia asked, now incredibly confused.

"I've reincarnated you into a devil." Rias stated.

Later at the ORC building, Asia was still processing the fact that she was now a devil.

"Why don't we get introductions in order?" Rias suggested.

"I am Rias Gremory, the king in this group. You already know Issei."

Akeno spoke up. "I'm Akeno Himejima. I'm the queen. And aren't you just the cutest little thing?"

"Don't make her uncomfortable Akeno, she's still adjusting. Anyway, I'm Colton Akuma, nice to meet you. I'm the other queen." Colton said.

"I thought peerages could only have one queen." Asia said.

"Normally, yeah. Colton's an exception. I'm Yuuto Kiba, just call me Kiba. I'm a knight." Kiba said.

"Yo. I'm Koneko Toujou. I'm a rook." Koneko said while nibbling on some candy.

"Nice to meet you all." Asia said, bowing.

Colton then peered at her soul for a bit. Doing so caused him to go blind for a moment.

"You okay?" Koneko asked, seeing how he recoiled, covering his eyes.

"Her soul. It's so pure that it's blinding."

"Oh, I'm so sorry!" Asia apologized.

Colton laughed a little. "It's fine. It is good to see that despite being reincarnated into a devil that your soul's purity wasn't tainted in any way."

'So he can see souls...' Rias noted.

Everyone then started to just hang around and talk. Asia would ask questions, with only a few of them being dodged.

It then got late and everyone was getting ready to leave.

Asia had to stay in the ORC building with Rias, as she had nowhere to go.

Colton had just teleported home.

He got ready for bed.

'What a crazy day. Fighting a bunch of fallen angels, and getting a new peerage member with the purest soul I've ever seen. Although I shouldn't be raising suspicion by using "those" abilities. I got away with it for now.'

Colton's eyes turned from white sclera(the majority of the eye), and brown irises, to black sclera and red irises. His eyes turned back as quickly as the changed.

Colton got in bed and eventually fell asleep.
