Tonks never would have made it through the aftermath of the birth if it weren't for Andromeda. Remus was always eager to help with Teddy when he was home, but as the war escalated across the country, he was called away more frequently than Tonks would have liked. She itched to follow him, but she knew Teddy needed at least one of his parents, and she wasn't back to her full strength yet regardless.
She'd never been as tired in her life as she was caring for Teddy. She didn't begrudge him it, but it did make her eternally grateful for Andromeda's frequent visits, which were the only thing allowing her a bit more sleep.
She had just woken up from one such too-short nap to find Andromeda snuggled up with Teddy in the living room, cooing to him gently. She looked up when she heard Tonks' approach, a smile on her lips. Her eyes glistened with tears, and Tonks found herself getting suddenly emotional as well.
"He reminds me so much of when you were a baby," she said softly.
Tonks crossed the room, sitting down next to Andromeda on the sofa. Teddy's eyes were closed as he dozed peacefully. His hair slowly faded between colours as he dreamed.
"Your hair did the same thing," Andromeda noted. "Up until you were six or so, it changed every time you slept."
Tonks had vague memories of waking up with a different hair colour each time, but it was foggy. And she'd never seen the slow shifts for herself. Currently, Teddy was shifting between pinks and purples. They looked like gentle colours. She hoped his dreams were just as pleasant.
