The sagas was a trilogy I wrote when I was in high school. Glee was in its first to second season, I was hooked on the show and, for some reason, I thought Santana had to be Rachel's sister. So my original idea was to adapt what had happened in Glee with that change in the family status between two characters.
The second season of Glee ended and without any material to base it on, I ended up creating a story inspired by an existing one, but which was entirely my own. That would be Glee, if it came out of my mind. Secondly, I wrote the part of the story that took place in a pre-Glee era. That's how the sagas were structured.
When I revised this fic, the adult me was surprised by the high school me. Because the high school me had never done a workshop on creative writing, and the adult me recognized a lot of quality in the high school me's work (thank you Pedro Bandeira for being a school in this sense). But the adult me understood that the high school me tended to romanticize certain things that characterized a toxic relationship, because the high school me didn't know any better and was inexperienced. The adult me also saw fit to prune some of the novelistic tendencies of high school me. So the adult me felt the need to alter a little bit the course of the fic written by the high school me. It wasn't much... about 90% of the entire text remained unchanged.
I especially modified the outcome of the three main characters' relationships, because I felt it was more realistic than the original proposal. I also made a slight change to the relationship between Juan and Hiram, because although I had addressed the crisis in the marriage and the past between Juan and Shelby, in the original fic Juan and Hiram remained together until Hiram's death, which gave Juan an air of conformism that didn't fit his personality.
The fic ends open because there is a second part to the story. However, even with the open ending, with the main characters still working out their own futures, I like it. For the simple fact that life goes on and our issues are never fully resolved.
I'd like to thank SPAWN and KUTEE for following this translation and 10% rewrite. Your comments were sensational.
