Hey everyone!
I am Hiwatari Hiromi ( I couldn't think of any other name as a kaihil fan)
I have written kaihil fanfiction before but I lost my account so after a long while I'm back with a new account and a new fanfiction!
This fanfiction is about Kai and Hilary and the romance blooming between them slowly after the Bega incident. I focused on Kai's feelings more since I wanted to write about his feelings towards Hilary.
Hope you all enjoy reading it.
Chapter- 1
Why am I worried?
The tournament concluded, and the BBA building suffered damage during the final match between Brooklyn and Tyson. Tala and Kai were later admitted to the hospital to recover from their injuries sustained in their bey battle.
--One morning (5:25 am) --
The morning arrived with tranquility. The gentle sun spread a warm glow across the sky, and its gentle beams caressed Kai's face through the hospital window adorned with delicate white curtains.
Kai's Perspective:
I awoke as the morning light softly kissed my face. Tala remained asleep in another bed, and beside me sat a brunette.
"Good morning, Kai," she greeted with an affectionate smile.
It was Hilary. I remained silent, simply sitting up. She continued, "You always seem to vanish whenever we come to visit, so I decided to come earlier this time."
...
moment of silence*
"I can see you have nothing to say, as always. On behalf of everyone else, I just wanted to ask how you're doing?" Hilary inquired, her smile feeling somewhat forced.
"I am doing fine."
To be perfectly honest, she appeared
upset, as if I had committed some grievous offense. Yet, I didn't bother to question her further.
"Good. I'll leave this bag here, containing clothes for you and Tala."
As she prepared to depart, I couldn't help but inquire, given that she had been taking care of us.
"Has something happened?"
She responded coldly, "Does it matter to you?"
It marked the first time she had spoken to me in such a manner.
Turning to face me, her expression radiated sadness.
"Do you know how tirelessly we searched for you the last time you vanished after your match with Brooklyn? Even now, you disappear without informing us or letting anyone know about your condition. We've attempted to visit, but we couldn't locate you – that's why I came early today," she passionately explained.
I was left speechless, unaware of the depth of my friends' concern for me, even after I left the team and betrayed them.
Hilary took a deep breath and sat back down, saying, "All I request is for you to stay until you are fully healed. Please rely on us, Kai. We are your friends."
After expressing those words, she departed, leaving me momentarily motionless. One thing became abundantly clear – I should remain here.
"We are your friends." Her words reverberated within my mind.
Time went by, and eventually, I was released from the hospital. Now living in Tyson's house, I continued my recovery.
I also inquired with Ray about Hilary, but he claimed to not know.
"She used to come to the Dojo sometimes, but why are you asking about her? Did something happen?" Ray asked, intrigued.
It was uncommon for Kai to show concern for Hilary as he had never done so before, but he had been worried about her for quite some time. Therefore, he told Ray what had occurred.
"That's unlike you, Kai. But it's good that you care about her. Maybe she'll be back here tomorrow. Why not ask her?" Ray suggested.
"Hm," a typical response from Kai, and he walked away.
'Ray is right. Why am I so worried about her?' Kai pondered, confused by these newfound emotions.
The next morning, Kai heard hurried footsteps approaching the dojo while everyone else was still asleep. He was attempting to change the bandages wrapped around his hands and chest.
Suddenly, the door swung open, and Hilary shouted, "WAKE UP, TYSON AND DAICHI!" This was her daily routine until she noticed Kai sitting there without a shirt. She couldn't help but gaze at his muscular back.
'His back is so broad,' she thought to herself.
"Hilary?" Kai whispered.
Snap! Back to reality Hilary!
She replied, "Oh, hi, Kai. I had no idea you were back. Congratulations on being discharged."
"Hm," was all he said - a usual response from Kai.
"Are you trying to bandage yourself alone?"
Hilary asked. "Why not ask someone for help?"
"They're sleeping," Kai replied.
"Oh, Kai. We're your friends; just ask us for help," Hilary insisted. She then walked over to him, knelt behind him, and took the bandage from his hand.
'What is she doing?' Kai wondered as she gently wrapped the bandages around his wounds. Kai couldn't help but notice her warm hands against his cold back, but he didn't mind. It had always been this way. He strangely felt comfortable around this particular girl, while he instinctively flinched and pushed away any other girls, even in the past, even now. But he could never bring himself to push her away.
"And it's all done. Does it feel more comfortable?" Hilary inquired.
"Yeah," he replied.
"Alright, I'll go wake up Tyson and Daichi then," said Hilary as she stood up.
"Wait-" said Kai.
"Huh? Did you say something?"
"Wait, I said. There's something I need to ask you," replied Kai.
That was the first full sentence Hilary had heard from him in a long time. So she sat back down.
"Why haven't you been visiting?" asked Kai.
'Wait. Is the great Kai Hiwatari concerned about me?!' thought Hilary.
"I was angry with you. I just wanted you to rely on us more," she honestly answered.
"But I betrayed all of you," Kai said softly, looking down.
"No, you didn't, Kai. Okay, I was really angry when you joined other teams, but I understand later on that you did it to defeat Tyson. I know it's your dream to beat Tyson, and honestly, I'd like to see you do that," she said, chuckling.
"You never turned your back on us. You were right by our side when we needed you, Kai," she said with a gentle smile.
All her anger was gone long, but the
thought of visiting Kai after their argument still held her back.
"Thanks," Kai whispered.
Hilary's blush intensified as she heard Kai express his gratitude.
"No problem," Hilary replied.
Ray watched the scene unfold from afar, his heart filled with warmth.
From that day forward, Hilary frequently assisted Kai with his bandages, and he grew more dependent on her, leaning on her for support. Their bond flourished, noticeable to some of their friends, while others remained oblivious.
'Maybe I know why was I worried
about her' thought Kai to himself.
