Chapter 1
"I'm so tired of this!" A small girl cried as she managed to run home in tears. She went in and ran to cry in her room. She was tiny, with very curly and bushy hair. This girl is one, Hermione Granger. But this is before her acceptance letter to Hogwarts. If anything she was five years old and had just been bullied by the neighborhood children.
She had always been an outsider, being smarter than all of the children, even most of the teens, and some select adults. She had always found it easy to remember things, especially when she read it from a book. When her parents had taken notice l, they went to go get her tested.
And as suspected, she had an eidetic memory. Her mother and father had been over the moon. Hermione was too, until she realized that it further alienated her from her peers. As a result, she buried herself in her books, becoming well read on many subjects.
How many five year olds could claim that they knew the theories behind an Einstein Rosen Bridge? Hermione sobbed, feeling sorry for herself.
"Hermione, sweetie? It's time for lunch!" Hermione heard from the kitchen. It was one of the days that her mother had off from the dentist practice. Hermione quickly wiped her tears and went downstairs. She sat down and began to eat the lunch her mother had prepared for her.
"Hermione? What do you think?" Hermione jolted as she looked at her mother, just now realizing that her mother had been talking to her for a while.
"I'm sorry, what were you saying?" She asked. Her mother sighed. "I asked if you were wanting to take your A- Levels? It really would be more convenient for all of us, then we can place you in a Further Education College." Her mother said and Hermione found herself nodding yes. Her mother beamed.
"Wonderful!" She exclaimed. Lunch was a rather peaceful ordeal. Hermione went back upstairs and began to go through her books, looking for something new to read, and she faced her age-old problem again: she ran out of books to read.
"Mum! Can we go to the library? I don't have any more books to read?" Hermione asked as she went to her mother's room to ask her.
"Of course, darling. Go get the last books you checked out, we can return them before you get new ones." Her mother agreed and started to chuckle as she saw her daughter zoom out, a new purpose in mind.
"Well if it isn't Miss Hermione! My favorite visitor." The librarian greeted, as she saw one her frequent visitors walking through the door.
"Mrs. Lila! Do you have any good books for me?!" Hermione exclaimed as she ran up to the front desk. Both the girl and the older woman had an unconscious agreement in place. Hermione would visit once, twice a week, and in return, she would get first grabs at the newest arrivals in the library.
"You bet your lucky stars I do. I have a couple, but I think these would interest you the most." She pulled out three books from a box underneath her desk.
The Dark Ages, Mythical Creatures and their Tales, and Western Tales. A history book, a book of fables, and one book of mythology. Hermione frowned.
"Don't look like that my love." The older woman crooned. "These books will help, it'll break up all of that science and mathematics reading you do." She said and Hermione's mother nodded.
"It's a splendid idea." Her mother said and Hermione looked unsure.
"Give it a shot."
Hermione nodded and scooped up the books as she started the trade. By the time she and her mother made it home, Hermione was nearly vibrating with excitement.
"Oh for goodness sake, go for it dear." Her mother said and Hermione darted to her room to start her reading
