This story was created during the 2023 SAG-AFTRA WGA strikes. Without the hard work of these incredible unions, the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe wouldn't exist. For more information about how you can help with the ongoing strikes, please refer to the link you can find on my profile.
Pre-Chapter and Pre-Story Authors Note:
After the success that I feel I've had so far with HSMTMTS: Emma's Journey At East High, it's time to start the next journey in my first person POV stories. This time, I'm stepping into the world of Marvel, with my OC Daniella "DJ" Jones.
Daniella Jones is an original superhero character that I created. The idea was to use her for things like expanded versions of the movies and television series from Marvel, but the more I thought about that approach, the more I thought about Emma's Journey At East High, and then the thought clicked. What if I, in addition to all that (or instead of that, I haven't really decided for sure yet), created a series that would release at the same time as the expanded versions of Marvel projects, that was told directly from the perspective of Daniella Jones?
Based on what I've written for her story thus far, she is a complicated and emotionally-rich character. She's passionate. She's determined. She cares about the people she loves and she'll do whatever it takes to protect them. This is the kind of character that, in my eyes, deserves a first-person story told from their perspective. She has had so much happen in her life, that it is vitally important for me to tell her story from her perspective. That is what I hope will make this story that much more special.
Now, admittedly, and before I let y'all read through the prologue, there is something that you will have to understand. The chapters for this particular story will not come out as frequently as, say, the chapters for Emma's Journey At East High have come out. There are two primary reasons for this being the case. The first is that Section 1 of The Diary of DJ Jones, by the end of it, will have more than double the chapters that Section 1 of Emma's Journey At East High will have by its end. With this being the case, I will need more time to write them, and as such, there will most likely be a situation where the chapters for The Diary of DJ Jones will not come as frequently as the chapters for that story. The second is that, unlike Emma's Journey At East High, there is a lot more source material and timeline that I have to cover. For Emma's Journey At East High, all I have to cover is the timeline of events for one 4-season show (High School Musical The Musical The Series), and then beyond the end of that show (but that's way in the future), but for The Diary of DJ Jones, based on how I have the story structured right now, it's gonna cover a lot more than that. The story of many MCU movies and series, told from the perspective of Daniella Jones, will be covered throughout the duration of this entire story, so that within itself presents a challenge. Then, on top of that, there's the challenge of breaking the material within these stories up into individual chapters, which I believe right now is going to take more time than I originally anticipated. It's going to be a fun and a great challenge (which I always enjoy, especially when it comes to writing), but it will be a challenge nonetheless that I will have to take on, so I hope you will understand that, when it comes to providing chapters, it may not be as consistent as I would like, but rest assured that I will take all of the time that I feel to be necessary to make each and every chapter the very best that it can be. No matter what it takes, I will provide the best content that I possibly can, and I hope that you will see, through my writing, the time, passion, and dedication that I have poured into it.
With all of that being said, please enjoy the Prologue to The Diary of DJ Jones.
Knock. Knock. Knock…
I look out the peephole, with my wife Katherine and my daughters Katie and Addison standing closely behind her.
Great, it's him.
It's Captain America himself, Sam Wilson.
I told them all to stay away.
God I was really hoping that I had left the superhero life behind at long last. After everything I did for the Avengers, for the country, for the world. I thought that, finally, I earned my well overdue and well-deserved retirement or extended leave (haven't really decided which yet), but it appears like that is not the case. It can never be the case, can it?
"If he asks you to fight, are you going to do it?" Katherine asks me.
"It's going to take a lot to convince me to fight again my love, I can promise you that." I reassured her.
"Does he want you to fight with him mom?" Katie asks me.
"I don't know sweetie, but I guess there's only one way to find out." I replied to her.
I then opened the door, while quickly closing it behind me. I am now face-to-face with a man that I deeply appreciated and respected, for everything that he has done for me over the years, but I'm quite honestly not in the mood to keep on fighting. I'm done. I want to hang it up…
"Surprised that I'm here?" Sam asks.
"That would be the understatement of the century." I replied.
"Fair enough. Now Daniella, we need your help once again." Sam states, urgently, and almost regretfully.
I was really hoping he wouldn't say that. This is the one time I was hoping he wouldn't say that. Right when I've finally gotten the chance to settle down and live my life without being a superhero, I'm being brought right back into it. God I hate this so much…
My wife pops her head out the front door, and mouths "Do what you need to do." God this is gonna be a decision I'm gonna hate…
"What is it this time?" I regretfully asked him.
"President Ross is about to plunge our country into chaos, and we need your help to stop him and the coming conflict." Sam reveals.
"Save the world again huh?" I said, thinking out loud, almost sarcastically.
"Daniella, it is with great regret that I come to you now. I know you wanted your time away from the Avengers and from the life of a superhero, but this is very important for us to prevent, and you know full well what the stakes are if we fail as a team." Sam states.
"I know Sam, I know. I just wasn't prepared to leave my wife and kids right now…" I confessed to him, on the brink of tears.
"You have a wonderful family Daniella, and that's never going to change, but we need you, perhaps more so than we ever have." Sam bluntly states.
I look at Sam, and then I turn around to see my wife and kids standing right behind me. I see the faces of my kids, though they're not of sadness, but rather, of pride…
"You need to do this." Katie says.
"For us, and for the world." Addison adds.
I then look right back at Sam.
"Well, my kids have given me their blessing, and that's good enough for me. Let's go save the world Cap." I stated with excitement.
So much has happened since I first stepped into the life of being a superhero. I've become a loving mother, wife, and loyal friend to so many people across the country and the world. It makes me think back to the time where my hero journey really began, and well, it really got started before I ever came close to being an Avenger…
