I've been writing this for a while and I got the idea from a few NCIS episodes. I hope you enjoy and for those of you reading Stormbender, don't worry, it's not dead and neither are any of my other stories, I'm just lazy.
Chapter 1
Nico watched as Percy fought, sword and gun in hand, and then suddenly the ship tilted as a wave washed over the prince of the sea. There was nothing left except a vibrant feather. When the ship tilted, blood soaked the letters of the USS Manhattan.
When Nico awoke, searing pain struck his chest, alerting him that someone close to him was now with Thanatos. With his phone ringing he picked it up, already knowing who it was. "Yea Gibbs? Wait, did you say Manhattan?"
"Yea, Di Angelo I did. We are going to talk to Mrs. Jackson, Private Jackson's wife. We need you here, she requested it."
Reaching their home, Gibbs and his team walked to the front door, seeing a grieving woman with blond curls and stormy gray eyes. Nico pushed by the group and hugged his friend, whispering in Greek to comfort her. After stopping the tears, she looked at Gibbs.
"I'm sorry, I'm not usually like this." She sniffled and rubbed her nose on her shirt.
"Mrs. Jackson, where did you and your husband meet? Before we learn of the present, we must first learn of the past."
"We met at camp when we were kids, I found him passed out trying to save his mother during a storm." She smiled as more tears fell. "The first thing I said to him was you drool in your sleep."
Tony smirked, glancing around the living room, gently grabbing a picture on the mantle before glancing down, seeing a juicy filet mignon burning with the scent of muffins and what looked like a girl's face weeping in the flames. "Is this you and him in this photo?"
"Yes, that was at camp after a turf war we had with a rival group." Memories flashed in Annabeths' and Nicos' minds when they fought against Luke. "The one next to it was taken in Greece with five others, all family regardless of blood."
Gibbs took notes as he also surveyed the room, noticing a large horn above the mantle. "Anything you think could have gotten him killed?"
"Agent, we live dangerous lives because of our blood, many would love to get their revenge." Nico rubbed her back as he spotted his nephew, Charlie, and his younger sister, Zoë.
"Uncle Nico, when is our Daddy coming back?" The little girl asked, walking to Hades' son, wanting to be picked up.
"I don't know kiddo. But I will take you and your brother to him when the time comes. For now, why don't you and your brother play outside, we adults need to talk." He kissed his niece's forehead, sending a silent prayer to Apollo and Artemis to watch over the kids before putting her down.
Gibbs and Tony smiled at the affection. "Look at that boss. Our autopsy gremlin is good with kids." Tony said before earning Gibbs slap.
After the members of his team left Nico bowed his head to the Goddess of the Hearth, knowing she was watching. Two hours via chopper, the group met up with the rest of Gibbs team. Dr. Mallard, or Ducky, to his close friends. Tim McGee and Agent Ziva David of Mossad.
"Ducky, what do we got?" Gibbs asked as Nico did his best to hold back his tears as they reached the ship's freezer.
"Sergeant Jackson died from what looks like a stab wound, leading to blood loss."
"Oh Percy." Nico held his cousin's hand, unable to hold back. Tears fell freely, landing on the wound. Forcing himself to work, Nico and Ducky placed the body in a body bag to fly back to Washington. Nico glared at the sky, threatening Zeus to shoot a lightning bolt at the helicopter.
Meanwhile, Gibbs and the others searched the ship. In the captain quarters, Gibbs asked the captain questions.
"Did anything happen to Private Jackson before he died, Captain?"
"Not really Agent, although when he died the sea got rough and there was a massive storm around us, almost like the sea itself was mourning."
"How is that unusual?"
"Ever since Jackson came onboard, we had no storms or rough waves, but the same can't be said for our enemies' ships and subs. The vessel had been blessed by the Almighty it seems. Go to his bunker, his bunkmates said he carried a sword with him at all times and that he fought sea monsters." The man chuckled, hardly believing such things.
When Ziva and McGee entered the bunk they searched for anything out of place. "McGee I found something." Ziva told him, pulling out a draw that was filled with stuff and dumping it on his bed
"What is all this?" McGee asked, rubbing his hand over a figurine of Triton.
On the bed laid two Ziploc bags of Drachma and Ambrosia, a flask of Nectar, and figurines of the Greek Gods.
Ziva grabbed the model of Hestia, flipped it on the back as she saw markings. "It looks Greek, but… I'm not sure."
"Don't let Tony hear that Ziva. He'll remind you until one of you dies." McGee told her as the ship swayed, rocking the two agents on as they both fell onto his bed with Ziva on top of McGee.
"You two look comfortable." Tony smirked as Ziva pushed herself off of her coworker, her cheeks dusted a pale red, avoiding both men's gazes. Gibbs walked in the room, eyes scanning, looking for the sword the Caption mentioned.
Nico ran to the others, telling them they had to leave, because of a storm heading their way. Once they made their way back to the morgue, Ducky removed the clothes of the Prince as Nico washed the body, praying to Morpheus that this was a dream and that the water would heal his cousin.
Scares danced across his body, as well as three tattoos. One on his right forearm, a purple leaf embroidered SPQR tattoo with a trident and a bar on it, representing one year of service in the Legion. Over his heart was a ring of fire and with in it, group of fish, two small ones in between a larger fish in the back and an owl flying in front of them with the words, family in Greek. The last one on his back had a Greek Omega, held by a strong owl with a glowing halo around its head. Within the Omega stood a trident glowing with an oceanic aura. Under the tattoo stood the words, Forever my Wisegirl.
Nicos fingers traced the SPQR, remembering when Percy punched him, despite Hera's memory wipe. When Ducky started the autopsy, Nico removed a Drachma from his pocket and placed it on his eye. "A coin for the ferryman. The house of Hades welcomes you, and may the judges bless you with Elysium dear Perseus."
His mentor smiled at his student. "That was a lovely memento Mr. Di Angelo. Did you know that in Greek lore Charon, the ferryman, would not allow those who departed if they did not have any form of payment to cross the River Styx."
"I did. But if the Gods were around today, do you think he would accept Google Pay?" The two shared a laugh as Nico made a reminder to ask his father to upgrade Charon's payment services. As the two got to work, Nico caught glimpses of red eyes staring at them with whimpering echoing throughout the room.
"Good heavens. Was that a tremor?"
"Felt like it." Nico worked himself with his assignment, monitoring the guardian hellhound. Nico waved his hand, forcefully sending Mrs. O' Leary back to Camp Half-Blood. A departing howl left her maw as she shadow traveled. Ducky looked around, trying to locate the source as the doors separating the morgue from the outside world opened, allowing McGee to enter.
"Hi Ducky, did you find anyway on our vic?"
"All that our patient was fighting for most of his life, or was a victim of abuse given all of his scars on his body. This unusual strand of white hair I would say he carried something abnormally large."
"He carried the world on his shoulders. Too much fighting only to survive, friends sacrificing themselves so he could live."
"So that two damn prophecies could be fulfilled, so many lives lost."
Nico thought back when he was a child and summoned skeletons for the first time, anger addressed to the cousin on the table. He excused himself and went to the bathroom, an enormous canine's shadow following him.
"Stay." His response was met with whines as he entered the bathroom. After washing his hands an Iris Message covered his reflection and the Trainer of Heros appeared.
"Hello Nico, you must know by now that Percy is in the Underworld, permanently."
"He is Chiron. He's on our autopsy table at NCIS. Annabeth is depressed and the kids are thankfully unaware. But eventually they will know."
"Indeed. Mrs. O' Leary has sat in front of Cabin 3, growling at anyone who came close. Only to whimper when the wind blows. Also, expect Lord Poseidon and Sally to visit. They should pay their respects soon."
"Thanks for telling me Chiron. I need to get back to work, Dr. Malord and I need to get a definitive cause of death." Nico waved his hand, ending the mystical call, opened the door and nuzzled by the hellhound, getting slammed against the door. The son of Hades scratched her ear and jaw. "Poor girl. First Daedalus and now Percy. We truly don't deserve dogs."
