Other adventurers came, trying their luck at the labyrinth. None suceeded. The goblins saw to that. Jareth himself did little to interfere anymore. His love of trickery and mischief simply dwindled over time.

From her perspective, it had been years. Years in which she had grown more beautiful, accomplished, awe-inspiring; becoming an even more perfect match for him, an ideal queen.

He was not only a casual observer, via mirrors and crystals. He tried to tempt her, urge her, entice her, but all attempts were in vain.

Time and again, Sarah rejected him, leaving the goblin king to pine on.
