The human teenager sat in the living room upon the long red couch, a single day had passed by after he was found and welcome into the family courtesy of Bandit who him and his wife Chilli came to an agreement to let him use the living room, realistically there couches as a place to sleep and put his stuff somewhere as he was scrolling through his phone seeing if there was anything about his latest disappearance from the orphanage.
Both Bandit and Chilli recommended him to do so and then report back if he found any info, but looking through social media and news sites for 20 minutes now there had not even been a peep about it.
Shane POV
"I don't believe it. Not a single thing" I thought heavily, frankly I should have kept my expectations low considering the circumstances of my situation being new and all, not many people were aware except for Roy and Rosemary who were on the roof with me.
but while searching, I felt my stomach twist painfully with guilt thinking of the fact that this got the city's biggest celebrity involved in all of this. Man, I think I'm really starting to regret this now. "Hello Mr. Human" Suddenly my concerns would end when I heard a young feminine voice close to me. I knew for a fact it wasn't Chill nor Brandy as I moved my phone down and in front of me I saw a small blue heeler child. I recognized who it was earlier but forgot their name, I don't know how? But I did.
"Uh... Hi? What's your name again?" I spoke in a nervous tone, hoping to receive an answer about the blue heelers name. "I'm Bluey. My dad told me to not be afraid of you, so I came to say hi," The blue heeler child told me, noting their name was Bluey while I thought it was adorable that her dad wanted her to not be scared of me I tried to speak to her nicely to not seem scary.
"Oh I understand. Your dad's name is Bandit?" I ask nicely to which I only receive a little nod back, my answer was indeed correct. "Yeah," She admitted. "There's no need to be afraid of me, Bluey. I'm just a normal kid like you minus being older. You get that right?" I asked the blue heeler. She nodded yes again, clearly understanding what I'm talking about before she spoke.
"I do. I have an older friend actually, her name is Mia" Bluey told me. Huh, I didn't know she had an older friend. Is it somebody Bandit or Chilli knows? I would think more but I digress. "That's pretty cool" I said in response as Bluey continued speaking. "You two should meet sometime, you'll make good friends" She added to the conversation.
Honestly my priorities should be focused on solving the mess I started but in fairness since I'm going to be around for a while, I could make some new friends since one of them is missing and the other is back at the orphanage which remains me. "Sure. I would love to" I told Bluey who smiled that I wanted to meet her friend as I then looked at my phone until I heard Bluey speak again. "Hey Shane?" She asked nicely. "Huh?" I wondered before putting my phone down and giving her my full attention. Seems like she wanted to ask me something.
"Me and my sister wondered if you wanted to play with us outside?" Bluey then asked me nervously. I saw that her tail was slightly wagging when she said that which I found cute and couldn't say no to her considering she was being nice about it. Really my only experiences with kids or a kid specifically were the times I had to babysit my cousin for my aunt and uncle in Montreal while they went to an annual festival. "Alrighty why not" I said to which the blue heeler's tail wagged faster while smiling, before she shouted.
"Hooray! Then let's head outside" She said as my left hand was grabbed by the blue heeler before she pulled me off the couch and headed into the kitchen where we passed by presumably heading outside which gave it away when she opened a side door and we were now in their backyard.
Seeing the area previously it was still as beautiful as ever as the sun shined before I saw Bluey let go of my hand and ran over to her youngest Sister who was drawing something before stopping at the sight of Bluey. "Bingo you got the radio?" Bluey asked her sister which she nodded. "I do," She replied before pointing at the radio which was sitting on a small wooden bench in front of a huge tree as Bluey ran and grabbed it to bring it back to her sister while I walked over to them.
"So you're Bluey sister, Bingo?" I uttered, asking the young red heeler which only nodded. "Listen Mr. Human if you're going to stay in are house you're gonna play by Me and Bingo's rules" Bluey said with a sassy tone, I eyes widened in surprise by the sudden tone shift. What did she mean by their rules actually?
"Mainly we are going to introduce you to something simple called dance mode" Bluey continued, explaining what we were going to do however I was confused when she said the game was titled dance mode. Clearly it has to do with dancing but is there more to it?
"Dance Mode? What's that?" I asked with confusion while Bluey came over to me. "You'll See" She said before I then felt my hand being slapped as Bluey yelled out. "Dance Mode!" And with that I began to start dancing like a disco dancer while Bluey shouted over to Bingo. "Hit it Bingo!" the young red heeler nodded in response as she pressed play on the radio. Music instantly began playing.
Song playing: Dance Mode by Joff Bush
Honestly I had no idea I could dance this well. Seems like when Bluey slapped my hand and said Dance Mode I started dancing but as I questioned the concept Bluey hit my hand again while shouting "Stop!" I then stopped dancing in an instant, my suspicions were correct.
"See Shane. that is dance mode" Bingo has told me before Bluey elaborated more. "Basically when Me or Bingo slaps whoever's tail or to you it would be your hand and shout Dance mode! The one we hit dances! But… if we slap your hand again this time shouting Stop! That's when the dancing stops, followed by the music" Bluey explained briefly. "Ok self-explanatory" I said which got me thinking about the thing she said. Followed by the music, this gave me an idea.
"Hey Bingo" I said trying to get the young red heeler's attention to what she heard and looked at me. "You two played music while I was in dance mode and it got me thinking. What if I played my own music instead" I propose my idea. At first they stared at me awkwardly but then they gave me the shoulder shrug before Bluey told me.
"Alright let's hear it" She said to which I then pulled out my phone and opened Spotify looking for a song to play when one caught the corner of my eye while Bluey got ready to put me back into dance mode. "You ready?" Bluey asked her sister who nodded and then she looked at me asking the same question. "You ready Shane?" She asked me as I answered. "Yep" I responded back, pressing the play button while Bluey shouted out.
"Ready…. Dance Mode!" The blue heeler slapped my hand again after saying that and I was immediately right back to dance mode.
Song playing: Just like Fire by Pink
"Ah I know that I'm running out of time, I want it all, mmm-mmm… And I'm wishing they'd stop tryna turn me off. I want it all, mmm-mmm…" My phone was playing as I started by Step-touch which Bluey and Bingo were not that impressed by but it was just getting started. "And I'm walking on a wire, trying to go higher" next I went over to a large red wagon and stood on top it doing a hand gesture into the distance. "Feels like I'm surrounded by clowns and liars, Even when I get it all the way, I want it all, mmm-mmm…" the song continued as I got off the wagon and went over to the open space where the true show started.
"We came here to run it, run it, run it… We came here to run it, run it, run it!!!" I began to do a backflip, catching the two heelers off guard before a series of dance moves. "Just like fire, burning up the way, If I can light the world up for just one day! Watch this madness, colorful charade! No one can be just like me any way! Just like magic, I'll be flying free! I'ma disappear when they come for me! I kick that ceiling, what you gonna say? No one can be just like me any way! Just like fire, uh" The music continues I stop and move to my next destination.
"And people like to laugh at you 'cause they are all the same, mmm-mmm… See I would rather we just go our different way than play the game, mmm-mmm…" I jumped onto the wooden bench in front of the huge tree and slowly walked on it before jumping off it.
"And no matter the weather, we can do it better, You and me together, forever and ever, We don't have to worry 'bout a thing, about a thing, no" It played but while doing so. I saw turning behind me, silhouettes of both Roy and Scarlet waving hello to me. Guess that line in the song really meant something to me, how I should and want to be with my friends again as I turned back around and continued forward.
"We came here to run it, run it, run it! We came here to run it, run it, run it!!!" I jumped again landing on feet as my mind imagined fire coming out from the ground while the next part of the song played. "Just like fire, burning up the way! If I can light the world up for just one day! Watch this madness, colorful charade! No one can be just like me any way!" It plays more while I continue to dance my heart out making another hand gesture this time moving my hand around like a holding a magic wand which accompanied with the next verse.
"Just like magic, I'll be flying free! I'ma disappear when they come for me! I kick that ceiling, what you gonna say? No one can be just like me any way! Just like fire!" I danced. It was time to wrap it up with a finale "Just like fire, burning up the way, If I can light the world up for just one day, Watch this madness, colorful charade, No one can be just like me any way, Just like magic, I'll be flying free, I'ma disappear when they come for me, I kick that ceiling, what you gonna say? No one can be just like me any way!" I proceeded to finish it was spin, spinning rapidly before stopping so I didn't get dizzy as I just time.
"Just like fire, fire (running, running, running) "Just like fire (we came here to run it, run it, run it)" The song finally concluded. Surprisingly Bluey didn't need to tell me to stop as I was able to due to the music stopping. Both Bluey and Bingo were left in shock by my performance, they were silent for a few seconds but instantly they clapped and cheered before The red heeler then spoke.
"Shane… that was AWESOME!!!!" Bingo reacted excitedly. "Yeah, how did you learn to dance like that?" Bluey asked me. Frankly I couldn't believe I did dancing like that either but I tried my best to answer. "I… uh… no clue to be honest" I answered honestly. "Wow, we need to tell Mom about this. let's go!" Bluey said as both her and Bingo left and went back into the house leaving me alone to take in the scenery, followed by my thoughts of what I pulled off.
"How was I able to do that?" I only wonder to myself. My best experience with dancing was from my mom who in her spare time would teach me how to dance for the fun of it except for slow dancing, which I wasn't able to learn due to… Well being here. I then pulled out my phone again and briefly looked at it only to be stopped when I heard another older male voice.
"Met my kids I see" I heard behind me as I turned around and saw Bandit was there as he came over to me. "Yep, that's my two kids, Bluey and Bingo, They can be rather rambunctious little rascals, but you'll get used to them" Bandit said to me putting his hand on my shoulder, while I put my phone away and then spoke back.
"Thank you for letting me stay here Mr. Heeler. I really do appreciate it. However, I want to ask you something" I said to him which made Bandit confused. "What's wrong?" He asked me back as I told him my question. "Is Chilli.. your wife, to be exact. Is she ok with having me here? She seemed rather hesitant earlier" I asked with a serious tone as I saw before that she was having doubts about me staying here. Can't see I don't blame her but Bandit then answered
"Pssf Baloney. You see Mate, it's not that she doesn't want to help you or have you around. It's just things get complicated as adults, having two kids to deal with, a job and a husband who also has a job following a celebrity status on top of that. It's a lot and with you being here that adds more stress you get that right?" He asked me back which I nodded in approval.
"Shane, nobody's mad at you. She just needs time, including Me, we all need time in fact, to get through this. Heck in the meantime Me and Chilli can get to you and you can get to know us a little better. What do you say?" Bandit asked me. I thought about his offer for a second but why not he is right, might as well make the most of it after all. "Sure I accept" I told him back as I then walked away wanting to head back inside. "Hey Shane?" Bandit said to me as I turned around again to hear.
"Just know… We're going to take things one step at a time" The blue heeler added to our conversation. In all seriousness after hearing what he had said… I couldn't agree more.
A/N: So another Chapter is complete. This one however I decided to be a little more… experimental by making it a first person chapter. Going forward I plan to make this story (maybe other stories In the future where it's a mix or just focusing on one perspective) be a mixture of both third person and first person chapters to spice up the story and not make chapters repetitive. The first person perspective won't be as often thought but it will have some appearances followed by having chapters where it's a mix of both. Overall What do you all think? I would love to hear your thoughts about my plans regarding Human of the Wild. Thank you all for supporting and liking the story and I hope you enjoyed it cause don't worry the next chapter is on the way.
