Bella was sitting in the coach's office while the sheriff was going over things with Scott.

Jackson was dead.

Stiles was missing.

And it was all to do with Gerard and the supernatural.

Isaac had snuck Bella into the office to wait for them to work out their next move. Lydia had opted to go home. But Bella was currently freaking out. A siren. What did that even mean?'

"Everyone's gone Bella, you can come out," Scott called out to her and she stood up and made her way into the locker room to stand with Scott and Isaac.

"You ok?" Isaac asked quietly.

"No," she shook her head. "This is insane," she muttered before a loud screeching sound echoed through the room and both she and Isaac turned to look at Scott.

He'd pulled off the door to Stiles' locker and thrown it on the ground.

"You're going to find him by scent?" Isaac asked as he watched Scott pull out some of Stiles' belongings.

"Yeah, we both are."

"I have to stay with Bella," Isaac shook his head.

"I'll be ok Isaac," Bella smiled as she rubbed his arm. "You should go look for Stiles, I'll be ok."

"It's not safe. What if Gerard comes after you again?" he asked her.

"I'll just go straight home. It's ok. I promise."

"She can call us if she needs us," Scott reassured.

Isaac took a deep breath before nodding and holding his hand out for one of Stiles' clothing items. "But how come you get his shirt and I get a shoe?" he complained.

Scott got distracted by something out of the corner of his eye and tapped Isaac's chest. The three of them turned to see Derek Hale standing in the room.

Bella's breath hitched. She knew she needed to talk to the man, but not tonight, so she subtly moved her body slightly behind Isaac's.

"We need to talk," Derek sternly spoke.

"All of us," another voice mused and Bella's blood ran cold. She knew that voice from anywhere. Peter Hale. She ducked her head down in the hopes of going unnoticed.

"Holy shit," Scott breathed. "What the hell is this?"

"You know, I thought the same thing when I saw you talking to Gerard at the sheriff's station," Derek quipped.

"OK, hold on. He threatened to kill my mom! And I had to get close to him. What was I supposed to do?"

"I'm going to go with Scott on this one. Have you seen his mom?" Peter smirked. "She's gorgeous."

"SHUT UP!" both Scott and Derek yelled back.

"Only trying to help," Peter smiled. "Hello, sweetheart."

"Are you talking to me?" Scott asked in confusion.

"No," Peter rolled his eyes.

"Who is he?" Isaac finally asked.

"I was talking to my daughter," Peter continued before anyone else could answer, waving his fingers at the girl hiding behind Isaac.

"Holy crap," Isaac realised as he turned to look behind him at Bella.

"Given the fact that you're hiding behind one of Derek's misfit teenagers, I'm going to assume you did your homework and already know who I am," Peter smirked at her.

"Wait… what?" Scott spun to look at her. "Peter Hale is your father?" he asked, but she only slunk further behind Isaac.

"Oh my god," Derek breathed as he tried to peer around Isaac. "How is that possible?"

"Well you see Derek, when a man and a woman love each other very much…" Peter taunted before trailing off. "She's Emelie and mine's daughter," Peter smiled. "Now is that any way to greet your father?"

"Isaac…" she stuttered. She was terrified of this man. Last she'd seen him, he'd attacked her.

"I thought you were dead?" Scott asked. He then turned to look at Isaac and Bella who both looked confused. Neither had been told the full story. "A little while back he tried to kill us all so we set him on fire and Derek slashed his throat," Scott explained.

"Brutal," Bella mumbled.

"Hi," Peter waved proudly.

"That's good to know," Isaac moved an arm around him to hold it around Bella protectively.

"How is he alive?" Scott asked and Bella immediately swallowed nervously. Derek glanced at his newfound cousin, he didn't want to sell out Lydia and tell Scott what happened, that wouldn't get their cousin relationship off to the best start.

"Look, the short version is, he knows how to stop Jackson. And maybe how to save him," Derek interrupted.

"Well, that's very helpful, except Jackson's dead," Isaac snarked.

"What?"

"Yeah, Jackson's dead," Scott confirmed. "It just happened on the field."

Neither Derek nor Peter said a word.

"Ok, why is no one taking this as good news?" Isaac enquired.

"Because if Jackson is dead, it didn't just happen. Gerard wanted it to happen," Peter sighed.

"But why?" Derek asked his uncle.

"Well, that's exactly what we need to figure out," Peter stepped forward. "And something tells me the window of opportunity is closing. Quickly."

"We need the bestiary," Scott sighed.

"I happen to have a bestiary of my own," Peter smirked. "It's at the old house. We should hurry though if we want to get ahead of Gerard's plan. Bella, why don't you ride with Derek and me?"

"No thank you," she refused as she grasped onto Isaac's arm.

"She can come with us," Scott moved to stand in front of both her and Isaac.

Peter growled quietly. "How'd you get the bruise?" he asked as he noticed the purple mark on her forehead. "It's fresh. It only just happened."

"One of Gerard's men," she explained as she moved her hair to cover it.

"Exactly my point!" Peter threw his arms in the air as he turned to Derek. "She's mine and Emelie's daughter, Derek. Work it out."

Derek's eyes widened as he looked at Bella. "A siren," he breathed.

"Exactly. And Gerard's figured it out. This means he's going to be out all guns blazing to either recruit her or kill her. Neither of which I'm particularly keen on. Trust me, Scott. She'll be safer with Derek and I."

"I'm staying with Isaac," Bella shook her head and grabbed onto the boy's hand.

"I'll protect her," Scott assured. "We don't have time to argue about this. We'll meet you at the old Hale house OK?"

"Peter," Derek grabbed his uncle's arm to stop him from moving forward. "She'll be fine with Isaac. We have to go." Peter just growled before he stormed out of the room. Derek sighed as he turned to look at the three teenagers. "He's not wrong," he admitted. "We have to keep her absolutely safe and out of Gerard's hands. She's dangerous enough as it is but in Gerard's hands… we'll all be screwed," he muttered before following his uncle.

Bella followed Isaac quietly into the Hale House. Isaac was lurking at the back of the group with her, keeping a fair amount of distance between her and Peter.

"Oh," Scott sighed in relief. "They found Stiles."

Bella felt a wave of stress fall off of her shoulders. At least that was one problem solved. One of a thousand.

"I told you I looked everywhere," Derek complained to his uncle.

"You didn't look here," Peter dismissed as he crouched down in front of the burnt-out stairs, ripped up a step and pulled out a suitcase.

"What is that?" Derek asked. "A book?"

"No," Peter frowned in disgust. "It's a laptop. What century are you living in?" he snarked. "A few days after I got out of the coma I transferred everything we had. Fortunately, the Argent's aren't the only ones that keep records," he smiled as he bounced up and moved into another room.

Bella, Isaac and Scott went to follow when Scott's phone rang and he pulled back to answer.

Isaac gently placed a hand on Bella's back and she glanced up at him quickly before they slowly went to go after Derek and Peter.

"Isaac!" Scott called out, stopping them. "We have to go."

"What? Where?" he asked.

"My mom called, something's happening to Jackson's body. Something weird. We need to check it out."

"I… but… Bella," Isaac's head whipped between him and the girl.

"She can stay here," Peter interrupted.

"No. No way," Isaac shook his head.

"I'd really rather not," Bella agreed.

"Isaac," Scott said quietly as he walked closer to the pair. "Trust me Bella, you'll be safer here. We don't know what we're dealing with. She could get hurt," he added the last bit.

"Fine then, drop me at home on your way, Lydia needs me," Bella countered.

"That's not a good idea," Derek interrupted. "You're the most powerful person in Beacon Hills right now. Gerard will be searching for you. If you stay here with us," he cast a quick glance at his uncle. "I'll protect you."

"But…"

"Bella, if Gerard finds you, we're all doomed. Everyone," Derek emphasised. "Us. Scott. Stiles. Isaac," his eyes flickered to his beta. "You being here is safest for everyone. Including you."

"He may have a point," Isaac relented.

"But… last time I was with him he smashed my head into the school lockers and knocked me out!" Bella hissed as she glared over at Peter.

"Not my finest moment, I'll admit," Peter agreed. "But I didn't want you to yell out and accidentally order me to stop my plan. And for the record, I didn't feel good about it."

"Doesn't make it ok!" Bella snapped back.

"I'll call you," Isaac compromised. "Keep you updated?"

"Ok," Bella nodded. They were going to look at Jackson's body. He was one of her best friends, but that wasn't something she wanted to see.

Isaac nodded and rested his hand on her cheek. "Keep your phone on you."

"Isaac," Scott hurried the boy along.

"Be safe," Bella whispered before Isaac nodded and quickly ran out.

"Come. Join us, Isabella," Peter smiled widely at her, ushering her over to join them.

"No thanks," she shook her head and stubbornly sat down on the stairs.

Derek and Peter had been muttering between themselves for the past 30 minutes, presumably about Bella, when Derek's phone finally rang.

"Scott," Derek answered immediately. "Yeah, she's fine," he looked over at Bella briefly. "What about Jackson?"

At the mention of Jackson's name, Bella stood up and nervously made her way over to the Hale's.

"They say he's in some kind of transparent casing made from the venom coming out of his claws," Derek explained to Peter.

"That sounds sufficiently terrifying," Peter mumbled as he kept his focus on the laptop in front of him, trying not to look up at the girl slowly making her way towards them out of fear she'd turn back around.

"They also say he's starting to move."

"Move?" Bella asked as she came to stand next to Derek. "Does that mean he's alive?"

"Okay, look, I think I found something," Peter announced. "Looks like you're seeing from Jackson is just the kanima's beta shape."

"Well, meaning what? It can turn into something bigger?" Derek asked as he leaned forward.

"Bigger and badder," Peter's eyes widened as he leaned back.

"He's turning into that?" Derek gasped. "That has wings."

"I can see that," Peter looked over at them.

"Scott," Derek brought the phone back to his ear. "Bring him to us."

"Look, somebody actually made an animation of it," Peter mused. "Maybe it's less frightening if we…" he clicked on it only to be interrupted by screeching. "Nope, not at all," Peter slammed the laptop down. "We should probably meet them halfway."

Bella was lost for words. Her friend, someone she'd grown up with was turning into… that.

"Scott, get him out of there now. Go now," Derek stormed out of the Hale house.

Bella immediately went to follow, desperate not to be left with Peter when he reached out and grabbed her arm. "Just… stay with me," he gave her a quick smile before he followed his nephew. "Derek, we need Lydia."

"There's no time for…" Derek snapped only to pause when Peter raised a finger.

"That's the problem. We're rushing. We're moving too fast. And while everybody knows that a moving target is harder to hit, here we are, racing right into Gerard's crosshairs."

"If I get the chance to kill Jackson, I'm taking it," Derek turned around.

"No!" Bella yelled. "No! You can't kill Jackson!"

Derek immediately groaned. Her words had the power to stop him, even if she hadn't meant to exert her control.

"This was an incredibly inconvenient time for you to find out what you can do sweetheart," Peter shook his head.

"She stays here," Derek looked at Peter. "She doesn't know what she's doing, and we can't have a loose cannon running around with all that power."

"That's not happening," Peter shook his head. "She's staying in my sight. Gerard and his people will be looking for her. They'll be coming here, he knows she's my daughter. He'll look here. She's coming. She and I are going to stand to the side and watch while you and your pack of teenagers end this, and if we stick to my plan, we might actually be able to save Jackson, but for that, we need Lydia."

"Why do you need Lydia?" Bella asked.

"There's a myth that you can heal a werewolf by calling out its given name," Peter explained. "Our name is a symbol of who we are, but the kanima has no identity, that's why it seeks a master and not a pack. Jackson's identity is disappearing rapidly beneath that reptilian skin and we need to bring it back. We do that through his heart."

"Lydia," Bella realised.

"Either Lydia or you," Peter nodded. "But we have to keep you hidden from Gerard. So we need Lydia to call out to Jackson and bring him back."

"We have to go now, we don't have time," Derek argued.

"We do have to go, yes," Peter agreed. "But Bella is going to call Lydia on the way and she's going to meet us there. Ok?"

Bella took a deep breath and nodded, pulling out her phone and immediately clicking call.

"There's Isaac," Bella spoke up, breaking the silence she and Peter had been in since they'd arrived at the warehouse. Isaac and Scott had just arrived and Bella immediately went to walk forward to join them, only for Peter to grab her arm and pull her back.

"You can see him after this is over," he said softly.

"I can't go check on him?" Bella glared.

"Not right now," Peter shook his head. "Derek should be here, where is he?" Peter groaned. His question was quickly answered as Derek came leaping like an animal down the road. "Someone certainly enjoys making an entrance," he rolled his eyes. "Come on," he held his arm out for Bella to start walking. "We're going in the back."

Peter and Bella quietly snuck into the warehouse and Peter directed them to hide around a corner. They could stay far enough away where they wouldn't be detected, but they could still see and hear everything that was happening.

"Where are they?" Scott asked.

"Who?" Derek asked.

"Peter, Bella and Lydia," Scott demanded.

"Bella?" Allison's dad asked, he seemed to have joined Scott and Isaac on the way. "Bella can't be anywhere near here. Gerard has everyone out looking for her."

"Derek, where's Bella?" Isaac asked again when Derek declined to answer.

"Don't even think about it," Peter held up a finger when he saw Bella wanted to call out to him.

"Whoa, hold on a second," Scott nervously spoke up when Derek started to unzip the body bag Jackson was in. "You said you knew how to save him."

"We're past that," Derek shook his head.

Bella's head whipped to Peter. Was he really going to kill Jackson?

"He can't," Peter shook his head. "He can pretend, but he can't, you ordered him not to, which was majorly inconvenient by the way."

"What, what about…" Scott protested.

"Think about it, Scott! Gerard controls him now. He's turned Jackson into his own personal guard dog and he set all of this in motion so that Jackson could get even bigger and more powerful," Derek yelled back.

"No. No, he wouldn't do that," Argent shook his head. "If Jackson's a dog, he's turning rabid, and my father wouldn't let a rabid dog live."

"Of course not," Gerard's voice interrupted him. Peter immediately threw his arm out and pushed Bella further out of the way. "Anything that dangerous, that out of control, is better off dead."

Before anyone could even say anything, a newly revived Jackson leapt up and shoved his claws into Derek's chest and threw him across the room.

Peter was immensely glad he'd already shoved Bella out of the way, she wasn't used to this kind of violence and he wasn't going to risk her yelling and ruining the whole mission. But despite the protective instinct he did feel towards his daughter, he couldn't help but imagine the power she'd have over a situation like this once she knew how to use her voice. If she knew how to properly command the men in this room, she could stop Gerard in his tracks, but this was not a good time to be testing out new abilities, he'd have time to help her develop later.

"Well done to the last, Scott," Gerard taunted. "Like the concerned friend you are, you brought Jackson to Derek to save him. You just didn't realise that you were also bringing Derek to me."

"Where is Lydia?" Peter hissed to himself. But before Bella could even pull out her phone to check, Peter grabbed her and clasped a hand over her mouth. She may not have had a view of Derek being attacked, but she did have a clear view of an arrow sailing straight into Isaac's shoulder. Allison had shot him. "Scott's got him, Scott's got him," Peter tried to comfort her as they watched Scott drag him out of the firing range. "Look, he's fine. He's already healed," Peter pointed out and she looked over to see that Isaac was standing up by Scott's side and running straight into the fight with the kanima. "This is not going well for us," Peter mumbled as they watched the kanima wipe the floor with the three werewolves.

"If you tell me what to say maybe I could stop him? I could tell Gerard to stop."

"If we don't get the wording 100% right straight away, what's to stop him from shooting you? Or ordering Jackson to kill you?" Peter countered. "You're powerful, but you have no experience. We need to practise when there's not a life-or-death situation at hand. If you get hurt, you won't heal fast like they do, so until we have time to practise, just let the werewolves handle this."

Bella turned back to look at the fight helplessly as she watched Isaac get thrown into a pile of wooden pallets. But then she tried to make another break for it when she saw Allison start to start Isaac with her daggers.

"Allison! No!" Scott yelled out when she began to march towards Derek.

Allison didn't get very far though when the kanima grabbed her by the throat, holding her in place.

"Not yet sweetheart," Gerard called out as he marched towards them.

"What are you doing?" she choked out.

"He's doing what he came here to do," Scott vaguely explained.

"Then you know?"

"What's he talking about?" Allison asked.

"It was the night outside the hospital wasn't it, when I threatened your mother," Gerard smirked at Scott. "I knew I saw something in your eyes. You could just smell it, couldn't you?"

"He's dying," Isaac croaked out.

"I am," Gerard confirmed. "I have been for a while now. Unfortunately, science doesn't have a cure for cancer yet. But the supernatural does."

"You monster," Argent growled at his father.

"Not yet."

"What are you doing?" Allison cried.

"You'll kill her too?" Argent asked.

"When it comes to survival, I'd kill my own son."

"He's distracted, let me go," Bella whispered to Peter. "I'll be quiet, I swear."

Peter looked at her eyes. "If he sees you, you run straight back here."

"Promise," Bella agreed.

Reluctantly Peter nodded and Bella tiptoed her way towards Isaac. "Hey," she whispered as she crouched behind him. At least this way she was partially out of Gerard's sight if he did happen to turn around.

"Bella," Isaac groaned. "You need to hide."

"I need to check on you. Are you ok? Are you healing?"

"I'll heal."

Bella lifted his shirt and looked at his back where Allison had stabbed him. The bleeding had slowed, but it wasn't healed yet. She touched near one of the wounds and he instantly flinched.

"I'm sorry!" she gasped.

"Time to go," Peter whispered as he appeared beside them and yanked Bella up in time for them to hear Gerard scream in pain. Derek had bitten him. Gerard was going to transform into a werewolf and Peter had to get Bella out of there. Bella tried to reach out for Isaac, but Peter was already dragging her behind the wall again. He was all but ready to exit the building and get the hell out of Beacon Hills with her when he turned around for one last look and froze. "What the…"

Gerard's bite wound was bleeding black, that was not a normal sign.

"What's wrong?" Bella asked she had no idea what was normal in this situation.

"Black blood, not a good sign," Peter shook his head.

"What is this?" Gerard asked as he saw the mess on his arm. "What did you do?"

"Everyone said Gerard always had a plan. I had a plan too," Scott explained.

Gerard's eyes widened and he immediately grabbed his pill box out of his pocket. "No! No! Mountain ash!" he roared.

"What's mountain ash?" Bella asked Peter.

"It's toxic to werewolves," Peter explained.

"Oh. OH!" she gasped as Gerard vomited up black liquid and fell to the ground. "Ew."

"Kill them! Kill them all!" Gerard ordered the kanima.

"Now it's time to go," Peter grabbed Bella's wrist and started to move when a blue Jeep burst through the wall.

"Stiles?" Bella whispered in confusion.

"Did you call him?" Peter asked.

"No just Lydia. Oh my god, Lydia!" Bella yelled as she saw her sister get out of the Jeep and stand in front of the kanima. "LYDIA!" she ran forward before Peter could grab her, desperate to get to her sister. Where Peter had failed to grab her, Isaac didn't. He stood up and grabbed the girl by the waist, stopping her from getting any closer.

They didn't have to worry though, as soon as Lydia held up Jackson's house key, the kanima froze and slowly began transforming back into Jackson.

Bella stepped forward to stand beside Scott and Stiles, she knew what had to happen next. And apparently so did Jackson, because he stepped away from Lydia and nodded to Derek. And that's when Derek and Peter struck. Plunging their claws into his chest and lifting him off the ground. When they released him, Jackson immediately dropped to the ground.

Isaac reached out to grab Bella's hand but she pulled away and walked towards her sister. Lydia thought Jackson was dead, she needed her.

"Lyds," Bella grabbed her sister and pulled her into a hug. "It's ok, it's ok."

"No, it's not. It's not ok," Lydia sobbed.

"He's ok. He's not dead. He'll wake up," Bella assured.

"What?" Lydia's voice shook with uncertainty.

"Trust me. He'll wake up. You brought him back. You saved him. Look," Bella turned Lydia back around in time to see Jackson open his eyes and slowly sit up. This was exactly how Peter promised her it would go.

Lydia immediately lunged at Jackson and pulled him into a hug.

"Does someone have pants?" Bella asked the group. Jackson was currently going full commando.

"Yeah," Stiles muttered and walked forward. "I think I have a spare set of clothes in the back," he walked towards her.

"I'm sorry about your Jeep," Bella said as he approached her.

"Yeah," he ran his hand across the hood. "He scratched it."

"To be fair to Jackson, you did drive it through a wall first," Bella smiled softly at him.

"Put these on," Stiles threw some clothes at the back of Jackson's head. "Are you ok?" Stiles asked Bella.

Bella turned to look at Peter and pursed her lips. She turned back to Stiles before nodding, tears glistening in her eyes.

"No you're not," he sighed.

"Hey," Isaac approached from behind and she turned around and instantly hugged him as she let silent tears fall down her cheek.

Stiles couldn't do anything but watch, watch as the girl he was in love with for years fell in love with another guy right in front of him.
