Chapter 10 - Edward

Ever since Alice had gotten her vision of me working as a member of the Volturi guard, she'd been trying to convince me not to go. She was so sure that Bella was meant to be one of us. I'd spent majority of the night before trying to convince Alice that this was the right thing. That I'd do anything for Bella.

When Carlisle and Esme returned, we talked about what this meant for our family. I was due at Volterra within the week. I had a bag packed with everything that I planned to take to Volterra with me, everything else of mine would be going into storage until I was released from my debt with the Volturi. When that was done I'd be able to rejoin the family wherever they are.

That afternoon Carlisle told us that he'd called Bella upon his arrival to let her know that we wanted to meet and he'd finally heard back from her and we were going to head to the Treaty line. I knew this would be the last time that I'd see her and I knew that it would be my chance to goodbye or anything else that I needed to say to her.

We left the house and headed to the Treaty line where Bella and the pack were waiting for us. She was standing there with Sam and another. "Bella, Sam." Carlisle greeted.

"Carlisle." Bella greeted. "Do you have news?" She asked nervously.

Carlisle nodded. "I spoke with Aro and he's agreed to a deal. Your free." Carlisle said looking over at me.

She looked over at me. "What deal?" She asked.

"It's not important." I told her.

Carlisle turned his attention back to Bella. "We just wanted to come give you the news and to say goodbye." Carlisle said.

She nodded. "Thank you." She said. Sam nodded to Carlisle and dismissed the rest of the pack following them. Carlisle and the rest of the family said their goodbyes to Bella and then ran back to the house. I stood there leaning against a tree while Bella looked to the guy beside her and nodded.

He kissed the side of her head and said, "I won't be far." He said before walked off.

"New boyfriend?" I asked causing her to turn back to me.

"No but he did imprint on me." She said. I nodded. "What kind of deal did Carlisle make?" She asked me.

I looked down at the ground for a moment before looking back up at her. "Aro agreed to let you go if I joined him." I told her.

"For how long?" She asked.

"50 years." I said.

She nodded. "I'm sorry." She said.

"It's not your fault. You never should have gone to Volterra." I told her. "I'm sorry about everything that's happened to you since I came into your life." vkbln;m,?

"Edward, you can't blame yourself for that. I was stubborn. I truly thought that you were future. But I was wrong. Jared is my future. The pack is my future." She told me.

"I hope you have a great life Bella." I said before running back to the house.

When I got to the porch, Rosalie was standing there waiting for me. "You did the right thing." She said.

"I know." I headed inside to grab my bag and head to Volterra.
