To think today wasn't crazy would be an understatement. Ronnie Anne and Lincoln having two back to back duels definitely took their classmates by surprise. It wasn't just that though. If it wasn't for Principal Huggins, Ronnie Anne would've suffered her first loss ever since coming to Royal Woods Elementary. Since that didn't come to be, she still remained undefeated.
Aside from that, Lincoln slowly began waking up, groaning a bit in discomfort.
"What happened?" He asked himself.
Slowly, he brought a hand to his head, trying to recall the events from earlier. First, there was Ronnie Anne challenging him to duel after beating her previous opponent Baxter. Once they fought it out, the albino was about to deliver the final blow with crystal abundance to end the game. That didn't come to fruition as Principal Huggins found them and forced them to end the match and go to class.
"Ok, I remember that clearly. Now that I think about it, she also challenged me again at Ketcham Park." The brown-eyed duelist spoke slowly.
From her tricking his sisters until they finally got there, their match started off intense. He would've one-turn killed her if it wasn't for her trap, permanently negating his spell. Even after dueling his friends to get better, the duel made it evident he was outclassed at the moment. While he did make a few good plays, there was nothing he could do to stop her setup. Especially due to the fact that she built a negate board so early on. She could've ended the duel whenever she wanted. Not to mention the fact that he bricked on his draw. If he received any other card than crystal abundance, he probably could've turned the tables in his favor. Maybe.
"Dang it. After all that, I still have a long way to go. Hopefully my crystal family is ok."
Upon saying those words, he finally noticed something wrong with his surroundings. He was staring at the ceiling… Why was there a ceiling in the sky? Also, why was it so dark?
Turning his head to the right, he finally noticed a computer with an ace savvy coming and a few crystal beast cards on a desktop. Then there was his duel gazer and duel disk. It finally clicked for him. He was home.
"How did I get here?" The loud child questioned, trying to lift himself up until he was stopped. His body was heavy.
"Ngh." That sound didn't come from him, and it made him realize he wasn't alone.
Suddenly, he felt a movement along his chest as it brushed against him, making his eyes widen. The boy began panicking a bit and immediately looked straight down. The amount of disbelief made him question everything as the boy found his eyes meeting a sleepy and blinking Ronnie Anne, the latter rubbing her eyes as she started adjusting to her surroundings.
"..." Neither of them said anything, bewildered by the fact that a situation like this even happened at all.
Before a scream could escape the boy's lips, she covered his mouth quickly, shushing him before taking a look around. Once she got a good sight of everything, she turned back to him and softened her usual glare. "We're at your house, aren't we Lame-O?"
He gave a slow nod, watching as she pulled her hands away before sighing. She jumped off his bed and began looking around, finding her duel disk and gazer on his shelf before grabbing it. Noticing that he didn't move, she got annoyed and stared him dead in the eyes.
"Are you just gonna shit there? We gotta go and see your sisters since I can't leave without doing so." The Santiago child folded her arms, a huff escaping her lips as the boy sighed.
Lincoln climbed out of bed walking over with her to the door, grabbing the knob as he looked at her. "Ready to play this off," was the question he asked her.
Hearing this, the black-haires pre-teen yawned, grabbed his arm, and hugged her close to him. She pretended to be sleepy while making him blush. "I'm ready. Also, if you tell anyone about this, I'll kill you."
"Trust me, I wouldn't dream of it." The albino said nervously.
With a turn of the knob, the two pre-teens escaped his room into the halls of the Loud house. However, contrary to the household name, it was extremely quiet upstairs. The tv could be heard however, and the familiar voices of his sisters had also increased.
Slowly, the pair made their way down the steps, the floorboards creaking here and there while they continued onward. Upon reaching the bottom, they were met with the smiles of Lincoln's younger and older sisters currently present in the living room.
"Look dudes. Our lovebirds are finally awake." Luna stated as she smirked at Lincoln, seeing a "tired" Ronnie Anne yawn.
"Seems someone is still sleepy. Totes adorbs!" Leni cheered, getting a sleepy curious look from the infernity duelist.
"How did we get here Lincoln?" Ronnie Anne asked Lincoln, the albino chuckling sheepishly to play it off.
"I can answer that. We went to see how well your date was going, but found you two cuddled in each other's arms like a princess with a handsome knight." Lola stated dreamily, blushing at the thought of how they looked.
"I guess you could say we had a lot of fun huh?" The hispanic child closed her eyes and smiled softly. This smile was strong enough to melt the hearts of his sister. Well, except for Lucy.
Lori, who was to the side cooking, has overheard the conversation. The moment she finished, she walked into the living room to see her brother and his date, smiling at them. "I made dinner for everyone. I even cooked some for the girl you brought home? This is us hoping she can stick around." Then a wink from Lori made the two blush, under different circumstances though.
"Um, yeah. She'll be around for quite a bit." Lincoln said as his sisters cheered, pushing the kids to the table.
Everyone had a chair while being given a plate of spaghetti from Lori. Leni was pouring drinks for everyone, but her clumsiness spilled a few cups they had to drink, so Luna poured them instead while Lynn cleaned up the mess.
"You gotta be more careful Leni. Go have a seat." The sports player told her older sister, the fashionista nodding her head as she sat down.
"Usually I'd be relishing my dinner amongst my creations. Since your female acquaintance is within our residence, I suppose an exception is an order." Lisa spoke with her usual lisp before adding "Though I doubt our eldest sibling would allow me to escape the confines of this small perimeter."
"Who cares about all that? We're having dinner with Lincoln and his date! This is something I wouldn't miss even if dad let me repair anything in the house." Lana proudly declared, holding Lily before Lori took her from the young blonde.
"Hey now, don't get ahead of yourself. That's his company, and I'm just making sure she eats before Lincoln walks her over. The sun is about to set, and I don't want her to leave on an empty stomach."
Hearing that, Ronnie Anne gave a smile and placed her head on Lincoln's shoulder, making the boy look over at her rather quickly in surprise. A small "Thank you," made all the girls say "Aww."
"So Lincoln, when will you introduce us?" Luan stated, holding back for her puns as most of them eagerly awaited the reveal of the girl next to him.
"Y-Yeah, right." He rubbed his head sheepishly, hearing the infernity duelist next to him chuckle which made him slightly annoyed.
Getting Ronnie Anne's attention, he pointed at the now seated Lori currently holding the adorable baby of the family.
"You guys, this is Ronnie Anne, a duelist just like me. Ronnie Anne, this is my older sister Lori, the fashionista Leni, rockstar Luna, comedian Luan, sports player Lynn Jr, poem writer Lucy, the twin fighter and twin princess Lana and Lola, super genius Lisa, and the adorable baby of the family, Lily." Lincoln smiled, all of his sisters saying their own greetings towards the Santiago child. Well, all except for Lucy.
"It's nice to meet everyone. For a proper introduction, my name is Ronnie Anne. I hope we can all get along for the time that we'll be seeing each other."
A smile graced her lips when the girls squealed with joy. Soon enough, dinner finally started with everyone eating and having conversations of their own, allowing them to know more about the infernity duelist. Let's just say she had a lot of interesting stories to tell.
"Wait, back in your hometown where the rest of your family lives, you beat the toughest dude in the city?!" Lynn exclaimed, almost climbing on top of the table.
"Number one duelist in the city. It wasn't official, but I didn't get the hype. I will have to admit though, being number one in town isn't for nothing, so I had to get serious." She casually replied, seeming more relaxed as she took a bite of spaghetti.
"So wait, you're a pro level duelist?! Like, best in a city?" Lynn questioned again, the rest becoming surprised.
"I'm currently the champion of my hometown. My brother didn't want the mantle before I dueled him. After beating him, we had to move here for attendance at Royal Woods Elementary and High school, so I didn't get to be number one for that long. Although, I'm still considered number one until I'm beaten by someone in my hometown."
"... Lincoln, how did you beat her?" Everyone asked him in unison, sans Lucy and Lily of course.
"Um, well I…" He rubbed his head nervously.
"That was simple actually." Ronnie Anne blushed, looking off to the side. "I didn't take him seriously, and paid the price for it with one of his card effects. It caught me off guard and I lost the duel."
"... You beat her?"
"Come on Lynn, it's not that far fetched."
"You beat her?" Lynn Jr asked again, making the boy sigh.
"Moving on, you said you had an older brother right?" Lori asked.
"I did. Everything that involves dueling, I learned from him. He's way better than me. I still haven't beaten him yet."
"Do you mind if I ask for his name? I might know."
"To be honest, I'd be surprised if you didn't. Considering everyone knows about him being a dueling prodigy. He's known as the Archfiend Emperor, the master of faster, but his real name is Bobby Santiago." She took another bite of her spaghetti, missing the shocked expression as everyone immediately looked at Lori.
"Wait, your brother is my boyfriend."
"... Wait what?" Ronnie Anne looked back up surprised, but then they all heard a knock at the door.
"Mom and dad are home! I'll get it!" Lana dashed off, opening the door in seconds before spotting a taller man, looking as if he was in his teens. "Oh, hey Bobby! We're just talking about ya."
The young Loud let him in, being greeted with his usual smile. "Haha, I'm glad. I wish I had the time to talk, but I was coming to ask if any of you have seen my sister named Ronnie Anne. She attends the same school as you."
"Oh yeah, she's right here. We're having spaghetti, come join!" The tomboy ran back to the table, getting a surprised look from the older Santiago.
The next few minutes were spent explaining the situation. From their duel, to their date, how they got picked up and brought home (Which Clyde and the gang lied by saying they had so much fun that they laid down and went to sleep), and to their current predicament now. Bobby had to pack it all up together, but basically got the jist of the entire thing.
"If that's the case, then thank you for taking care of her up until now Babe, Little Loud. I really appreciate it." Hugged Lori before high fiving Lincoln.
"HE'S THE ARCHFIEND EMPEROR?!" Lincoln was just screaming to himself on the inside. Don't mind it.
"You're welcome Boo-Boo Bear. You two get home safe ok?" She gave him puppy-eyes.
"Of course babe. I'll let you know as soon as we do." He kissed her, making everyone gag before they went back to normal after he stopped. "Come on Empress, we better get home."
"I told you not to call me that." She blushed, sending him a glare.
"It's different when Lincoln says it, right?"
"..." Her blushed darkened, the Santiago child kissing Lincoln on the cheek, much to his surprise and embarrassment before running out of the house. "Let's just go already!"
"Bye babe. I'll see you at school tomorrow." He gave her one last hug.
Once Bobby headed out the door, the black-haired teen grabbed a helmet that was sitting on the porch, much to Lori's confusion. He didn't have his own car yet, so why did he have a helmet? Lincoln knew the answer, since she just asked "Wait, why does he have a helmet? Bobby doesn't own a car?"
"That's because he's the master of faster! Lori, he owns something way better than a car!"
The albino got excited, catching everyone's attention as he dashed out the door. The girls followed suit only to see a black and red motorcycle with wheels that didn't even look like the item. The end of his bike had small wings, with various safety measures and a back rest rested to keep the driver in a peak condition. Ronnie Anne saw them, immediately turning head away as she sat at the front with her hands holding the handle, embarrassed she had to be seen like this. "Good job Lame-O" ran through her head.
"Awesome! This is my very first time seeing a duel runner up close! Who could've known I would get to see the very one owned by THE Master of Faster!" Lincoln exclaimed, sparkles in his eyes.
"Hahaha! I'm glad you're excited about seeing it, little loud. In fact…" Bobby reached into his pocket, taking a card out before flicking his wrist.
The pre-teen male caught it, looking it over only to see two duelists on duel runners. It didn't have any other information. It made him confused, but when he saw another card being thrown at him, it was for something that he never knew about. Is this supposed to be a new dueling system?
"Those two are upcoming events for Royal Woods. This Saturday, a new dueling system is coming from Japan to America, and Royal Woods is the first place it's being dropped in. The second card is gonna be a competition where the winner will receive a free duel runner, and duel runner license. Just thought you might wanna check those out."
Lincoln couldn't say anything. These were events that newbies like him couldn't even attend with his poor dueling record. Yet he was being given these without so much as even a payment of some kind. Once he heard the revving of his duel runner, Bobby got ready to take off, surprising Lori who was initially scared at the thought of him driving. Mostly due to getting in legal trouble.
(Bobby's 17, his starting age in the show.)
"Thank you! I promise to make you and Ronnie Anne proud!" He exclaimed, taking his signature duel pose.
Bobby smiled brightly, and Ronnie Anne wasn't blushing anymore. She actually scoffed, but then it turned into a small smirk before she looked away completely.
"I know you will, little loud. Love you Lori!" Bobby exclaimed, driving off with Ronnie Anne.
"Text me when you get home safe Boo-Boo Bear!" She shouted, getting an "I will" before they disappeared out of the neighborhood. Now that she knew this, she had other worries entirely. So the moment she looked at Lincoln, the boy became puzzled before grabbing his shirt and pulling him into the air.
"Tell me everything you know about Bobby that I don't know. Don't leave out ANY details!" She dashed inside with him, everyone looking at the two nervously before closing the door to their home.
"... Be honest with me sis. You're only here because you found something interesting about Lincoln, didn't you?"
"I knew the kiss would give it away, but I had to keep up the act."
"Then explain everything to me from beginning to end. I'll listen." He smiled at her.
"Tch. He was supposed to be a loser, one of the word players in the game. Then out of nowhere, he beats Chandler, ending his pathetic way of dueling." She growled angrily.
"Take a breath first." The Santiago child listened, obeying his words as she started to calm down.
"... I saw his sudden win, but I wanted to see if that was truly skill, or luck. When I got my chance to duel him, he was supposed to die by my one turn kill."
"Little loud survived?"
"He didn't just survive. He reversed the damage into life points gain. Infernity Zero was keeping me alive for the time being, but I could feel myself slipping away slowly. Don't try to bring it up." She glared at him.
He nodded his head before motioning for her to continue, stopping at a red light.
"Back to the story, I had him at three-hundred and fifty life points. No monsters on his field, but then suddenly fills up his spell and trap zone. I was confused, until he pulled out Crystal Abundance."
"So he uses a crystal beast deck eh?"
"Yeah, but the build for it honestly sucks. Aside from that, I learned about the effect of that card. He sends four crystal beasts from his spell and trap zone to the grave, and then can special summon any number of them by sending cards I control to the grave."
"A pretty nasty effect if I may add."
'Most definitely. I wasn't ready for it, and would've lost if principal Huggins didn't interrupt our duel and make us go to class."
"So you rematched him because you took your first loss here, won the next duel, and now you're going to duel him again to break the tie?" Bobby smirked at her, fingering it all out in seconds.
"I hate having ties with anyone. I need this tie breaker. Also, it seems like you might have some competition." She pointed to the side.
The moment he turned his head, all he saw was a man on a duel runner, revving his engine before smirking. "You, me, and duel with the road. What do you say, Archfiend Emperor?"
"Heh." As soon as the light turned green, Bobby sped off. "Try and keep up dude!"
"One more thing before this duel kicks in! I know the second card was an invite to participate in the Shot Runner Contest, so you get to invite anyone! Was that first card you gave him a chance to get the new on the go duel system the forum has been yapping about for months?!"
"Yep! You found Lincoln interesting, so let's see what he can do in my absence by taking over! Until then…" Bobby activated the card Speed World on his duel runner, the system recognizing it immediately.
The spell Speed World has been activated. Prepare to engage in a high stakes duel in the wind. Counting down in three… Two… One…
"Let's duel!"
Saturday Morning, 10:11am
"So Lincoln, mind explaining to us why you brought us here so early today?" Rusty asked, his orange hair making him stick out like a sore thumb.
"Do you also wanna explain why you've been frequenting the card shop lately? You've been in and out of here. A LOT." Clyde added.
Lincoln sighing as he stopped looking at the cards in front of him, turning around with a serious face. They knew when that meant. Whatever he was about to tell them is gonna shock them without a doubt. So when they saw him pull out a card from yesterday, shocked was an understatement.
"That's the invitation for the Arc System Shuffle?!" They shouted at once.
"It is, but I didn't get this from anyone. The master of faster himself gave it to me. The Archfiend Emperor."
They didn't have words anymore at that point. Lincoln then turned around, looking at his deck with a small amount of concern. His crystal family had been recovering from those two duels with Ronnie Anne, so he hadn't heard from them in the past few days. Duel energy was the only way to help them recover properly, but the duelists he faced weren't enough to get them back to full strength.
"So that's why I've been here constantly. I need to improve my deck no matter what. Ronnie Anne taught me something from our second duel. I wasn't ready. This time, I'm erasing all that doubt and fear of losing. I can do this."
"We're glad to hear it buddy! You know we're rootin' for ya!" Liam exclaimed, getting a smile from the albino.
"Thanks, but now I gotta make this deck so strong that my difference from then and now can be seen by anyone. Which is why I've been doing it alone." Clyde placed a hand on his shoulder, getting his attention.
"Well, stop it. Just remember that we're right here to back you up. So no matter what happens, we're gonna see it through." Lincoln nodded his head, watching as the guys began searching for cards "So tell us Lincoln, what kind of changes do you wanna make with the crystal beasts deck?"
"Hmm…" Upon being asked that question, he had to think for a second. His main difficulty had to be getting his crystal beasts on the field/in the graveyard, not to mention the luck of the draw. That's it. "Clyde, do I have some ideas in mind." He smirked.
A lot of running was a result of looking for the perfect cards. From spells, traps, even other monsters to help out. On the other hand, the clerk watched them in curiosity behind the register, not able to understand the full gist of what was going on. If her usual customers were here though, that meant more business and interesting questions from there. Especially the questions.
"Hey, Ms. Tanner." Her attention was suddenly caught by the pre-teens. "Do you have any cards related to Rainbow Dragon?"
Meanwhile, after some time had passed at the loud residence.
"Now to add the finishing touches, and… Perfect! Eee! Linky is totes going to love his new outfit."
"Um, Leni, what are you doing?"
Her attention was caught by her older sister, turning around as Lori could only stare at the other blonde in confusion. Well, she obviously knew she was making a new outfit, by why?
"Ok, so Linky asked me a few days ago if I could make him a new outfit for this event he's going to. Of course I was busy at the time, but he promised that he'll gain me a huge following if I do this one favor for him."
"Leni, did he tell you what the outfit was going to be for?"
"Um, if I remember correctly, I'm pretty sure it was called the Arc System Shuffle."
"The Arc System what?" The older Loud questioned, suddenly hearing their door burst open as Lincoln could be seen running in place.
"Phew, I made it! I'm here Leni! How does it look?" Lincoln ran over to the smiling girl.
"It looks amazing, and so this year." She boasted, proud of her handiwork.
A orange and black outline cape like jacket with the initials "L.L," a gray short-sleeve, and orange pants with a brown leather belt that grabbed the left side of the pants while wrapping around the right pants leg.
"Awesome! This'll be great for the competition!" Lincoln exclaimed
"Wait, wait, wait! What competition?" Lori asked, getting his attention as he pulled out the card Bobby gave him, the invite she remembered.
"The Arc System Shuffle. Multiple duelists that are the best of the best in town are being given the opportunity to battle it out and win the star prize, a miniature version of the Arc System, but there's more. Coming in first not only gets me this awesome reward, but publicity as it's one of the biggest events currently ongoing, and only one of its kind in America. I'll use that opportunity to give Leni a bigger following than her current one."
"That's… Very thoughtful of you Lincoln. It seems like you thought it out. How many people are we talking here?"
"Um… Like a good few million." He responded to Lori.
"A few million?!" Both Leni and Lori screamed, the former panicking.
"Holy crap. I better get to letting everyone know the news and work on my other projects!" Leni dashed off, Lincoln had to chase after her to get her to take a break first.
"Oh brother. If he wins this, Leni will become a walking hot topic. Ugh, I can feel the headaches now." Lori thought, holding her head in discomfort.
Now though, Lincoln had finally changed as he dashed out of the house, telling everyone to wish him luck as Clyde and the gang made their way straight to where the event was being held. They were cutting it close on time, but with the amount of traveling they had to do, it was a miracle they managed to make it. Once they arrived at the duel stadium hosting the event, everything went from there.
"Alright, looks like those are all the duelists. Go ahead and close up the entry-"
"Hold your horses! There's one more!"
Hearing Liam's shout, the event staff noticed the boys running up. However, they were stopped by security.
"So kids, but if you don't have an invitation, you're not getting through." One of the guards spoke up.
"It's a good thing I have one." They separated for Lincoln to come forth, proudly presenting his card. "The Arc System Shuffle card, granting one invite to the event as a duelist. My friends are gonna be spectators."
"Hmm. Then right this way sir." They stepped aside, Lincoln proudly walking forward as his white hair tried to cover one of his eyes.
"May I please have your name duelist ID?" The lady asked.
"Lincoln Loud ma'am." He smiled brightly, the lady pulling up his duel record as she smiled back.
"Ok Mr. Loud, you're all set. Remember to do your best, and have fun."
"Of course ma'am." Looking over to the gang, he said "I'll see you guys once it's all over."
"You got it bud. We'll be waiting for you to win this whole thing." Clyde announced with a smirk.
"Heck yeah! Show them who's boss!" Rusty shouted, the gang running inside as he nodded his head, walking towards the duel field. Once he left, the woman's smile dropped as she got her boss's attention.
"What's wrong Camila?" He asked.
"His duel record. Take a look at these two specifically."
Upon closer inspection, her finger was pointing at a duel between him and another duelist. Not just any duelist though. It was specifically between the albino, and the Infernity Empress herself.
Lincoln Loud (350LP) vs Ronnie Anne(0LP) : Interrupted
Lincoln Loud(0LP) vs Ronnie Anne (3400LP): Lose
"Interrupted, then a loss?" Both of them questioned, looking out towards the duel field.
"Welcome ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, to the one and only Arc System Shuffle! Today for your pleasure, we have twenty duelists going head to head in an all out showdown!" The announcer exclaimed, getting the crowd hype as he pointed towards the duelists.
Lincoln felt a little nervous staring at the competition. He wasn't gonna let anyone else know that though, but made sure to keep his composure. Sure, there were a lot of people to go through, but he's got this. He didn't spend all that time going through his deck and upgrading it for nothing. He was gonna win this thing… Hopefully.
"The best part is that by the end of this duel, the winner will gain access to the one and only special made on the go Arc System, which not only gives you access to monsters that feel real at the touch, but gives you access to the feature of Action cards, without the need for a fully built arc system! Dueling has never evolved so much like before. UNTIL NOW!!"
The screams of the crowd got louder as they cheered, ready for the action to take place. On the other hand, Bobby and Ronnie Anne were currently going undercover, knowing that if they got recognized, a whole bunch of unnecessary stuff would happen. Aside from them-
"Finally, we made it." Lori stated, having managed to get the entire Loud family here for this event.
"Do we really have to be here watching this?" Lola stated, rolling her eyes a bit.
"We're here to support your brother, young lady. No complaints." Lynn Sr spoke, rushing them to some good seats while he grabbed some food for everyone.
"Hey, is that Lincoln's family?" Zach spoke, getting everyone's attention as they saw them not too far away.
"It is them. Quick, let's get over there." Rusty said, all four of them rushing over to his family.
"Let me hear you everyone! Are you ready for some duels?!"
"Yes!"
"I said. Are. You. Ready. For. Some. DUELS?!"
"YEEEEESSSSS!!"
"Then let's duel ladies and gentlemen!" The announcer screamed, everyone shouting as the duel board displayed who'd be dueling who. After all matchups were assigned, Lincoln's eyes widened when he saw the first result.
Lincoln Loud vs Evo
"Will Lincoln Loud and Evo please step onto the duel field."
Hearing his words, both of them made their way up, brown eyes from the Loud Child staring at his redhead opponent. A serious look was on the redhead's face, but then it suddenly morphed into a huge smile.
"Sweet, I get to duel first! Before we start, I just wanna say, may the best duelist win!"
Hearing his words, Lincoln smirked at the older redhead, responding "Thanks. Same goes for you, but don't plan on losing." This caused the teen to chuckle. "Trust me Loud, neither do I."
"For the first duel, there won't be any action cards, so both opponents will be dueling with pure skill. However, we got something better than cards. Behold the first duel field titled, The Midnight Festival!"
One snap of the announcer's fingers, and the arc system activated. The boys witnessed as the landscapes began changing, a park came about with a ton of event stalls, food stands, a gigantic lake, and multiple fireworks going off in the sky. Yet in the center of this place, a clock that always seemed to stay at 12am never changed. When they realized they weren't too far from each other still, the strong wind made them shield their eyes as they heard the sound of a helicopter lifting off into the sky. The announcer was being taken away out of the area.
"Now then, with our further ado, let's get this duel started!" He exclaimed, the crowd cheering as the female Ai announcer turned on.
Duel Field, Midnight Festival has been established. Time to tip the scales. Counting down in three…
"Two…" The announcer said.
"One…" Clyde, Rusty, Zach, and Liam said together.
Evo and Lincoln smirked at one another, drawing their five cards as they stared each other down. Once they did so, everyone exclaimed the same line that would never change.
"Let's Duel!" Just like that, it was time to duel like never before.
"Now to determine who goes first-"
Two cards appeared at random, being shuffled amongst each other before they were laid faced down on the ground. "You two will pick amongst those cards. Once you do, flip them over, and everything will kick off from there."
"Then I choose the card on the left." Evo stated, Lincoln nodding as the right card was given to him.
"Let's see here." Lincoln was flipping his card over, doing it before Evo did as he was a further distance away from the card. Upon him flipping the card over, they both said "A Fool's Misfortune?"
A Fool's Misfortune (trap): A card only activated at the start of the duel. The duelist that sees this card first automatically gives the first turn to their opponent.
Per rules of the card effect, Lincoln Loud has given the first turn to Evo. Now commencing the secondary effect "Fireworks Rampage."
After that, they watched their cards get changed, adding new text under the first effect.
Secondary Effect: After the first effect has resolved, the booths beside you will suddenly combust into a fireworks display. It doesn't end until you see each other again. I suggest you run. Trust me.
"Wait what?" Then they heard sizzling, looking to the side as one of the booths started catching fire. They didn't think twice about it, and started running.
Then a chain of explosions went off as the crowd started cheering, only a few concerned (everyone that knew Lincoln and Evo) after they started running for their lives. Their screams were also coming out, but it was drowned out by the cheers of the audience.
"Good luck Lame-O. You're gonna need it." Ronnie Anne didn't show concern, but hoped he didn't go out too early.
Moments later, the white-haired pre-teen heard another booth sizzling, his brown eyes darting around as he found a corner to dive into. Once he did, another explosion resulted before he ran again, sliding out of the alley as another explosion resulted. Once he heard another sizzle, he started panicking.
"I gotta move!" He thought to himself, but an explosion in front of him caught his attention.
"Holy crap that's hot!" Evo jumped out of an explosion that recently died down, him and Lincoln spotting each other. He smirked brightly before saying "Some start to a duel eh? How about we get this show on the road?"
"Heh, gladly. Any more explosions and I won't wanna see 'em for the rest of my life." He smiled, taking his stance.
Evo - 4000LP [Hand: 5/Deck: 55/Field: 0] Graveyard: 0
Lincoln - 4000LP [Hand: 5/Deck: 55/Field: 0] Graveyard: 0
"Since it's my move, I'll start things off by summoning Evoltile Elginero!" He slammed the card onto his duel disk, a small dinosaur coming into existence.
Evoltile Elginero LV2 - ATK: 0/DEF: 0
"This cuddly guy won't be staying for long though, because I activate the spell Evo-Force! By tributing one evoltile monster, I can special summon one Evolsaur monster from my deck. The best part is that this is treated as a special summon by the effect of an evoltile monster."
"The best part?" Lincoln questioned, watching the dinosaur get destroyed before a bigger dinosaur took its place.
"Welcome Evolsaur Elias in defense position!"
Evolsaur Elias LV6 - ATK: 100/DEF: 2400
"When this card is special summoned by the effect of an evoltile monster, which was through my spell, I can special summon one level six or lower fire type dinosaur monster from my hand! Evolsaur Terias, come on out to play!"
In a portal of searing flames, a fearsome beasts shot forward. It roared aloud, catching everyone's focus as the crowd began cheering.
Evolsaur Terias LV6 - ATK: 2400 - 500 (1900)/DEF: 600
"Due to its effect however, it loses five-hundred attack points. That won't matter since I got something better in mind for the both of them. I overlay both my level six Elias and Terias…"
"An XYZ summon." Lincoln clicked his teeth.
Suddenly, both monsters turned into a red light with sparkles, going inside of a blackhole that suddenly appeared from nowhere. As both monsters went inside, a bright flash of red light erupted from the portal. Lincoln's eyes widened as something began to come out of it.
"From an age long forgotten, ensuring its survival by pure strength, shock the world with your dominating might. I XYZ summon, rank six Evolzar Lars!"
Lincoln took a step back as wings came out of the portal, the red light turning blue before a ferocious flew out and screeched. Its overwhelming spirit showed itself, and the crowd was eating it up.
"Look at the monster!"
"That thing looks more like a dragon than a dinosaur!"
"That's the thing ladies and gentlemen, it is a dragon! Just the evolved form of my dinosaur deck with loads of tricks!"
Evolzar Lars RK6 - ATK: 2500/DEF: 1500 (XYZ) - Overlay Units: 2
"Since I didn't do this earlier, we can start now. I activate Elginero's special ability in the graveyard. Since it was tributed, I get to draw one card, then I'm allowed to shuffle one dinosaur type monster from my hand back into the deck to add any evoltile monster to my hand."
"I set two cards face down, and end my turn. Give me your best Loud."
"You got it Evo. I draw!"
Evo - 4000LP [Hand: 1/Deck: 53/Field: 3] Graveyard: 2 - Overlay Units: 2
Lincoln - 4000LP [Hand: 6/Deck: 54/Field: 0] Graveyard: 0
"First, I'll start by activating the spell card crystal bond!" Lincoln activated his card, bringing a familiar duelist petting a familiar carbuncle to the field. "I may not have heard from my crystal family in a while, but I'll do my best without them for now," Lincoln whispered to himself.
"Sorry, but that's not happening right now. I activate Lars' special ability. By using one overlay unit, I can negate your card's effect until the end of this turn. Prehistoric Devastation!"
One shot of a fireball from the dragon destroyed his card, negating its effect as he sent it to the graveyard, only making him smile. This guy has some power.
"If that's the case, then I'll activate the spell card destruction!"
"Not happening! I use another overlay unit to negate card destruction! Since it's a card that can't remain on the field, you have no choice but to send it to the graveyard."
"Well played Evo." Lincoln smiled, sending his card to the grave. Meanwhile, some of the crowd erupted into laughter.
"The kid has already been negated twice!"
"He's someone that has skill? Give me a break."
"I came here to see a duel, not a one-sided snore."
A tick mark grew on Lincoln's head, something that didn't go unnoticed by Evo. The crowd kept laughing altogether. Well, for those who found this situation funny that is.
"If you can say all that then say it to my face!" Lynn exclaimed, being pulled by her sisters before she screamed "DON'T LISTEN TO THEM LINCOLN!!"
"Lynn…" he turned around, spotting her in the crowd much to his surprise.
"Don't listen to these idiots! Louds don't quit, and we don't lose either! So show them who's number one!" Everyone went quiet, making him smile as he smirked brightly, looking at Evo.
"Trust me sis, I plan on it. I'll start off by thanking Evo first however."
"Thanking me? What for?"
"I thought I was gonna have to get rid of your Evolzar Lars' overlay units. Thanks for doing that for me." Lincoln smirked, taking a card from his hand.
"Wait a minute… You wanted me to use both my overlay units?" Evo was shocked upon receiving a nod in return. "How did you figure it out?"
"Simple. There was no mention of your effect being once per turn. You didn't hesitate in using it either, so you're saving those facedowns for something important. Let's not get into that though."
"True. We got a duel going on after all." The redhead smirked, people of the crowd murmuring and whispering amongst each other.
"So he figured that out and planned accordingly. Lincoln's got something up his sleeve. I can already tell." Bobby noted.
"Now let's see how he's gonna spice it up on his turn." Ronnie Anne stated.
"First I'll summon Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger in attack mode." The tiger appeared in a swirling light, his fighting spirit ready to cause some real damage.
Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger LV4 - ATK: 1600/DEF: 1000
"That tiger is so cute!"
"Cute or not, it's still nine-hundred life points short."
"Then I'll change that with the equip spell, crystal release!"
When the spell was revealed, Topaz Tiger found himself encased in a rainbow aura, growing stronger. Then suddenly, Lincoln heard his name, seeing Topaz Tiger who looked at him. When he blinked his eyes, he was no longer being looked at. His expression grew serious.
"This spell gives Topaz Tiger an extra eight-hundred attack points! So with that, I'll go on the attack!"
Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger - ATK: 1600 (800) 2400
Topaz Tiger dashed forward, Evolzar Lars doing the same as it took off to the sky.
"Why would the kid do something so stupid?!"
"Can you shut up for a second and just watch?!" Lincoln smirked. "Now here comes the best part! When Topaz Tiger attacks, he gains four-hundred attack points!"
Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger - ATK: 2400 (400) 2800
Feeling himself get stronger, Topaz Tiger put all his strength into his legs, bursting off at such incredible speeds that he caught the dragon off guard. Topaz bit into the Lars' wing, making the monster scream in pain as he tried to shake it off.
"Not so fast Lincoln! I activate my trap card, Evolutionary Bridge!" A trap suddenly sprung on the field, catching Lincoln unexpectedly as he grit his teeth. "This trap puts the brakes on my monster's destruction, and instead lets me special summon an evoltile monster from my graveyard to take the attack. Evoltile Elginero, protect my life points!"
The dinosaur was summoned in defense position. On the other hand, Lars managed to toss Topaz Tiger from its wing, sending the beast crashing into Elginero.
"The effect of Crystal Beast Rainbow Dragon activates! Since an attack was declared with Topaz Tiger, I'm allowed to special summon this bad boy from my hand."
A rainbow light began spiraling from the sky getting shouts from the crowd as the majestic colors shined throughout the area. Then Elginero was destroyed after the light made its appearance. That's when the smaller version of Rainbow Dragon made its appearance.
Crystal Beast Rainbow Dragon LV8 - ATK: 3000/DEF: 0
"Alright Lincoln! Now he can destroy his XYZ monster for real this time." Rusty voiced, the guys agreeing as Clyde said "Hopefully he gets the chance. This Evo guy is not to be underestimated."
"Sorry, but I'm gonna put your dragon on hold with my trap, Evo-Singularity!" The redhead exclaimed towards the albino duelist
"What the heck is that?!" The trap sprung up, a pillar of flame shooting up from Evo's graveyard.
"Evo-Singularity works like this. I target two monsters in my graveyard. One Evoltile, and one Evolsaur. Then I special one Evolzar from my extra deck, and convert both my monsters into overlay units for that monster!"
A blackhole sprung open, another spiral of flame shooting out as Lincoln took a step back. Slowly, something began to come out of it, its body glowing red as the flames got bigger.
"From an age long forgotten, ensuring its survival by pure strength, shock the world with your dominating might. I XYZ summon, rank six Evolzar Solda!"
The same thing happened like last time as this dragon turned blue, looking more like a lizard with wings than a dragon in some regards. Suddenly, both monsters became overlay units, transferring themselves to Solda before Evo shouted "Now I activate Evolzar Solda's special effect!"
Evolzar Solda RK6 - ATK: 2600/DEF: 1000 (XYZ) - Overlay Units: 2
"When a monster is special summoned on your field, excluding the damage step, I can send one overlay unit to the grave. Then your monster is destroyed!"
"Dang it!" Before Crystal Beast Rainbow Dragon could react, it was destroyed by a mighty yell from Solda, becoming a glitch in the system.
"The effect of my dragon activates. When it's destroyed, I can place it in the spell and trap zone." He placed his dragon down, gaining a smile. "Also, since my battle phase is over, Topaz Tiger's attack points go back to normal."
Topaz Tiger - ATK: 2800 - 400 (2400)
"To finish up, I'll place one card facedown and end my turn."
"Then it's my move. I draw!"
Evo - 4000LP [Hand: 2/Deck: 52/Field: 2] Graveyard: 5 - Overlay Units: 1
Lincoln - 4000LP [Hand: 0/Deck: 54/Field: 4] Graveyard: 2
"It's already turn three and this duel has been nothing but back and forths! Evo was able to keep the advantage, but Lincoln Loud is quickly showcasing why he's not gonna make this easy." The announcer related to everyone, the crowd ready for whatever was to come next.
"Kicking this turn off will be my good friend Evoltile Odonto! Don't let his small state confuse you Lincoln. He's just as strong as the rest of my dinos." The purple and green reptile dinosaur appeared on the field, giving a small yelp of pride.
Evoltile Odonto LV2 - ATK: 500/DEF: 1200
"Then I'll activate his ability which allows me to special summon one Evolsaur from my hand. I choose my remaining monster, Evolsaur Lios." He summoned his monster, increasing his field of monsters and power.
Evolsaur Lios LV4 - ATK: 1600/DEF: 400
"I can already tell it has a pretty nasty effect too." Lincoln stated, not liking where this was going.
"You'd be correct my friend. Lios' special ability allows me to set one Evolutionary Bridge or Evo-Singularity straight from my deck since it was special summoned. As for which one, you'll find out during either of our following turns."
Pulling one card from his deck, he set the card facedown, Lincoln growing concerned of which card he chose.
"Lincoln is gonna be ok right?" Lana asked, worried about his situation.
"Our eldest brother unit will be fine… If he doesn't get annihilated this turn that is."
"Annihilated?!" The loud family screamed.
"However, I'm not done. Since it's still my main phase, I can activate Lios' second ability, which allows me to send one fire Dinosaur monster from my deck to the graveyard, then two targets on my field becomes that monster's level."
"Don't tell me you're gonna-"
"XYZ summon again? You're correct, and it's not gonna be good for you Loud. I discard Evolsaur Darwino to my graveyard, and now my Lios and Odonto will become level five!"
Evoltile Odonto LV2 (3) - LV5
Evolsaur Lios LV4 (1) - LV5
"This is bad. Not only will he have three XYZ monsters to attack Lincoln with, but that face down he has could be worse than we imagined." Bobby said, making Ronnie Anne click her teeth in annoyance by the situation.
"This duel is awesome!"
"The kid can't hide behind one facedown card! End him this turn!"
"Come on Loud kid! Show us what you got!"
"Yeah! Don't drop the ball on us after that first turn you had!"
Evo smirked at the crowd. He turned back towards Lincoln, smiling normally. "You hear that? Let's give them a first duel they'll never forget. I overlay my level five Lios and Odonto to build the overlay network!"
Instead of a blackhole on the ground, it instead morphed in the sky, two rays of sparkling red light flying inside. Then that light shot out in a spiral.
"Surging through the tides of the inferno, a will stranger than the hottest sea of fire, showcase your power that melts through all who oppose you. I XYZ summon, Number 61: Volcasaurus!"
A number had appeared on the dinosaur duelist's left eye, sixty-one making itself known. Much to his shock, the crystal beast user saw a volcano come from within the portal. Nothing came out at first, at least until the thing became active. Lava began falling out immediately while multiple fireballs shot out in all directions. Lincoln instinctively went on the run out of fear of being hit by one, jumping into an alley way as the ground blew up where he was originally standing.
The albino kept running until he got a safe distance away, but when a shadow hovered over him, he looked up. Evo stood on the back of his dragon, a hand suddenly coming out of the volcano before another one came out. Then a sudden roar came from inside. The dinosaur stuck its head out, ejecting itself from inside before crashing to the ground, a louder scream erupting from its massive form.
Number 61: Volcasaurus RK5 - ATK: 2500/DEF: 1000
Lincoln slowly stood up, readying himself for what was to come next.
"Volcasaurus' special effect activates. Once per turn I can use one overlay unit to destroy your monster, and inflict damage to you equal to your monster's original attack."
"That's bad news then!" Lincoln exclaimed.
"You got that right! Volcasaurus, let his tiger have it. Volcanic Extinction!"
Flames began to leak out of its mouth, Topaz Tiger going on the run as he was chased down. It was pointless in all honesty. With the tiger moving too fast to catch, the dinosaur decided on the next best thing. Nuke the area. So when an explosion decimated a large amount of the field, Lincoln found himself launched back by the shockwave of the blast.
"Aaaahhh!" He screamed in pain, slamming against the ground seconds later. Slowly, he stood up and activated the effect of crystal release. "Since my equip spell was sent to the grave, I can replace it with Ruby Carbuncle in my spell and trap zone." This earned him a nod in response.
Lincoln - [4000 -(1600) 2400LP]
"Due to me activating number sixty-one's effect, it can't attack this turn, but I got two other monsters who can. Solda, attack Lincoln directly!"
"Not good! If this hits, Lincoln will lose dudes!" Luna screamed, having managed to figure out the situation.
"Don't count him out yet! He still has a facedown card!" Lynn screamed out.
"So I'm gonna use it now. I activate the trap card, Crystal Boon!" The trap revealed itself, Crystal Beast Rainbow Dragon and Topaz Tiger appearing on the field. "By special summoning both my crystal beasts, I gain life points equal to their combined attack! A grand total of forty-six hundred!"
"You're still gonna take the damage though!" Evo countered.
Lincoln couldn't run again as he took a slash from Solda's claws, being knocked backwards yet remaining on his feet.
Lincoln - [2400 (4600) 7000 -(2600) 4400LP]
"Evolzar Lars, another direct attack!" Evo commanded, a fireball being charged.
Lincoln, who upon seeing it, made a run for it. Once the ball was shot his way, he ducked and rolled to the side, evading the blast that destroyed a couple of stands behind him. Slowly, he stood up, his life points dropping again.
Lincoln - [4400 -(2500) 1900LP]
"That's all I can do for now, so I'll end my turn."
"Then it's my turn. I draw!" Lincoln took his next card.
Evo - 4000LP [Hand: 0/Deck: 50/Field: 4] Graveyard: 7 - Overlay Units: 2
Lincoln - 4000LP [Hand: 1/Deck: 52/Field: 3] Graveyard: 4
"I activate the spell Rare Value. How it works is that you choose one crystal beast in my spell and trap zone to send to my graveyard, then I get to draw two cards." The white-haired pre-teen declared.
"Then I'll send Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger to the graveyard." The redhead said, Lincoln following his words before drawing two cards.
"You can do it Loud kid! Show us what you got!"
"Yeah! Don't leave us hanging after your first turn performance!"
"Looks like some of the crowd is cheering for Lincoln, but will these two cards be enough to turn things around at nineteen-hundred life points?" The announcer asked.
"Then how about we find out together. I activate the effect of Crystal Beast Rainbow Dragon from the spell and trap zone! By banishing it, I can special summon one crystal beast from my deck, but will have to negate its effect. I'll bring Sapphire Pegasus to the field in defense position."
Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus LV4 - ATK: 1800/DEF: 1200
"Then I get to add one ultimate crystal monster from my deck to my hand. It won't stop there, because now I can play the quick play spell Awakening of the Crystal Ultimates!"
Evo's eyes widened when the spell came into view, Lincoln smiling as Sapphire Pegasus guarded him. So when the crystal beast user saw himself being looked at by the crystal beast with a smile before it turned away, he knew he was doing something right. Time to keep the game plan up.
"By revealing the Ultimate Crystal monster in my hand like so (he showed Rainbow Dragon), I can add one Rainbow Bridge spell card to my hand, which I'll activate right now! I play the spell, Rainbow Bridge of the Heart!
"Good thing we checked for more crystal beast support with the cashier behind the register. Lincoln's about to do something good." Clyde said aloud, the crowd remaining quiet to see how this plays out.
"Once per turn during my main phase, this card allows me to destroy one crystal beast card that I control, like Sapphire Pegasus for example, and add one spell or trap from my deck to my hand. However, that's not the end."
"There's more?!" Everyone screamed, sans Clyde and the gang along with Bobby and Ronnie Anne, who watched patiently.
"You bet, because now that I placed a destroyed Sapphire Pegasus in my spell and trap zone, I can activate the second effect of not only Rainbow Bridge of the Heart, but Crystal Boon in my graveyard! Not only can I return one card you control to the hand, but I can also excavate the top card of my deck, and if it's a crystal beast monster, I can either add it to my hand or special summon it!"
"What an amazing play!" The announcer shouted, the crowd going wild as his family started cheering.
"Good job son! Show him what you're made of!" Lynn Sr exclaimed.
"Do your best Linky!" Leni shouted.
"Looks like our little bro is about to throw down hardcore!" Luna stood up from her seat.
"As I knew he would. After all, winners don't lose!" Lynn exclaimed, punching the air.
"First, Number 61 returns to your extra deck!" The monster was suddenly swallowed by a blackhole, trying to escape, but failing as it was consumed completely.
"Crap, I lost Volcasaurus!" Evo's face became serious, the boy being glad he didn't use the one overlay unit he had left.
"I don't get it? Why didn't he target his facedown?" Zach asked, confused as the others looked at him.
"Because Volcasaurus' special ability allows him to destroy a monster, and deal damage to the opposing player once per turn. Lincoln was probably gonna summon on his turn, so he couldn't take the risk." Clyde responded.
"Second, I now get to excavate that card from the top of my deck." Drawing his card, the boy smirked before saying "I special summon Amethyst Cat!" Said pink cat's pink light jumped from his duel disk, its full body coming about as she growled.
"Lincoln… If you can hear me, thank you."
"... Heard ya loud and clear." He smiled softly before it turned into a smirk.
Crystal Beast Amethyst Cat LV3 - ATK: 1200/DEF: 400
"Sorry, but she isn't sticking around. I activate the effect of Evolzar Solda! By consuming its last overlay unit, your monster is destroyed."
One quick blast from the dragon put the cat out of commission as it was too big to dodge. Lincoln's smirk still remained though, placing his monster in the spell and trap zone.
"Fine by me. I play the field spell, Ancient City, Rainbow Ruins!" With a flick of his wrists, the card was tossed into his field spell slot.
Then the ground started to shake, Evo on his dragon still stayed off the ground while Lincoln was being lifted up by a stairway. Suddenly, six pillars with the different rainbow gems car across the field. Then a rainbow flew over the area, this ruined landscape having fully combined with the festival grounds.
"Now I'll activate Rainbow Ruins special ability! Since I have four crystal beast cards in my spell and trap zone, I'm allowed to draw one card." Lincoln took his card.
"I set a monster face down, then activate the spell card Mirage of Nightmare!" Lincoln went on to conclude his turn. "Your move Evo. Make it a good one."
"You got that right. I draw!" He took his next card.
(Messed up on the card count around here. Don't worry though, it won't affect the story, but I'll fix it in editing.)
Evo - 4000LP [Hand: 1/Deck: 49/Field: 3] Graveyard: 9
Lincoln - 1900LP [Hand: 1/Deck: 44/Field: 6] Graveyard: 7/Banished: 2
"Why would he activate Mirage of Nightmare? That card hurts him more than it helps… Although I should add that to my deck." Ronnie Anne grumbled. Bobby nodded, not having any words as he was just ready to watch this unfold.
"Mirage of nightmare's effect activates. During your turn, I draw until I have four cards in my hand, like so." Lincoln drew three cards.
"From my hand, I summon Evoltile Lagosucho!" Evo said, summoning the small dinosaur to his field as everyone paid close attention.
Evoltile Lagosucho LV3 - ATK: 1200/DEF: 500
"With its special ability, I can send one monster from my deck to the graveyard, and I have the perfect one." He processed to discard a card. "I now activate Evoltile Megachirella's effect from the graveyard!"
"By banishing it, I can give one of my Dragon XYZ monsters two overlay units from the graveyard!"
"That's not gonna be good." The brown-eyed duelist grumbled.
"Lars, looks like you got your abilities back buddy." His dragon yelled from under him, two overlay units coming about in a flash of red light.
Evolzar Lars - Overlay Units: 0 (2) 2
"Now we'll attack. Lars, destroy his monster!"
Upon declaring his attack, the dragon swooped in straight for Lincoln's card. Then suddenly a green light enveloped the card. As it tried breaking through, Lincoln reacted quickly.
"I activate the effect of Crystal Keeper! By discarding it, Emerald Tortoise's defense gains a two-thousand defense power boost!" Upon showing the card, a green shot down on the now revealed emerald tortoise.
Seeing his situation, he knocked the dragon with his shell, sending Lars and Evo back into the sky. "However, for using this effect, my monster is destroyed. I still gave you some damage though." Then the emerald tortoise was retired by the same light that struck him.
Evo - [4000 -(1500) 2500LP]
"Even if I took damage, you're defenseless, so let's end this duel. Solda, attack with Meteorite Calamity!"
When a giant fireball was shot his way, Lincoln didn't run from it. Instead, he stuck his hand out. While everyone was yelling for him to run and move, he didn't listen. So the moment the fireball touched his hand, it was stopped completely in its tracks before dispersing into nothingness.
"N-No way! That kid just stopped a fireball with his bare hand! How is that even possible?!" Everyone was baffled, including Evo himself, until they spotted a monster on the field that didn't look anything like a crystal beast.
"No way, is that card-" Evo found himself cut off by the albino.
"Battle Fader! Since you declared a direct attack, I was able to summon this guy to my field. Seeing that you're already familiar with it, you definitely knew that Lars' special ability couldn't target battle fader since he's a hand trap card. Because then you would've wasted an overlay unit."
"Lame-O actually thought of that! There's no way he upgraded his deck to be prepared even for a situation like this!" The Santiago child jumped up from seat.
"Yet we're witnessing it with our own eyes. I must say, I am loving this duel so far." Bobby stated, Ronnie Anne sitting back down.
"Yeah, go Lincoln!" Lola cheered, never thinking that she would be smiling and shouting for such an event.
"This battle is really entertaining to watch. It also gives me the passion to write." Lucy said in monotone.
"Oh, that's our baby boy out there." Rita said as she held Lily with a smile, the baby saying something cute.
"Well let's hope he can win while giving his Beast! Hahaha! No seriously, do your best Lincoln!" Luan said, jumping for joy at her little brother out there. Yet Lori stayed quiet. A little too quiet.
"Lincoln has been handling this so well! Are we sure that's the deck we helped him improve, because it looks crazy from up here?!" Zach asked, getting a nod from the guys.
"Since my battle phase has ended, my turn is through. Your move Lincoln."
"Let's do this! I draw!" He drew his next card.
Evo - 2500LP [Hand: 1/Deck: 49/Field: 3] Graveyard: 9
Lincoln - 1900LP [Hand: 3/Deck: 40/Field: 6] Graveyard: 9/Banished: 2
"The effect of mirage activates, but since I only have one card remaining from this effect, I'm not worried about the penalties." He discarded the one card. "Now I'll activate Rainbow Ruins to draw an extra card!"
"Not if I can help it. I activate Lars special ability, and negate your spell for the rest of this turn."
Lightning struck all seven gems in the pillar, Lincoln not seeming to be worried by that. Instead, he continued onward.
"Then I'll summon my Crystal Master!"
The seven gems on the pillars shot a light down towards Lincoln's monster zone, a man appears seconds later with the seven gems accompanying his form. He meant business. Evo on the other hand was in a bad situation. If he summoned a monster like that, then it had an effect that spelt doom for him. However, his continuous spell was also a problem. So which one does he go for?
"For now, I'll activate my monster's effect! By tributing Crystal Master, I can add any crystal related card from my deck to my hand." Lincoln smirked as he took his card, a thought of "Just what I needed," coming to mind.
"Then I'll use my last overlay unit to negate your continuous spell!" A fireball from Lars struck his card, burning it, yet it didn't disappear or turn to ash. It just stayed there.
"Fine by me, because I have a surprise for you. First, I'll summon Amber Mammoth to the field."
Crystal Beast Amber Mammoth LV4 - ATK: 1700/DEF: 1600
Lincoln held his final card before it shot off into the sky. When it reached the top, a portal of colors began to form, a swirling vortex seeming like a gateway to allow something to come out.
"When seven crystals are combined, the crystal family calls on the power of the one who watches over and guides them all, allowing everyone and everything to bask in his glow. Come to my field, the one, the only, RAINBOW DRAGON!!"
A serpent-like creature suddenly shot out from within, taking off around the entire arena as everyone began shouting and jumping for joy, most of them here having never witnessed something so beautiful. Then, Lincoln ran forward, getting to the top of the ruin stairs before jumping on Rainbow Dragon, the fearsome beast screeching at the lesser dragon below it.
Rainbow Dragon LV10 - ATK: 4000/DEF: 0
"Thank you for summoning me, partner. I know we have a lot of work ahead of us, but let's think about that later, and win this duel."
Lincoln nodded his head towards the beautiful dragon, taking off to the sky as there was still something else they had to do. It was time for an upgrade.
"Now I'll take it a step further, and tribute my Rainbow Dragon!" The monster suddenly burst into pixels, Lincoln falling from the sky as he slammed a card onto his field. Then, a massive purple light shot as Lincoln started skating on it, jumping off a second later before the light began to change form.
"I special summon from my extra deck, Rainbow Overdragon!"
With the golden outlines of body appearing, the gems having vanished as a purple armor appeared, and its white body resembling that of a new God, a dragon was birthed from his former body.
Rainbow Overdragon LV12 - ATK: 4000/DEF: 0
"Now I'll activate his special ability! By banishing one crystal beast from my graveyard, Rainbow Overdragon gains attack points equal to its original attack! So I'll banish Topaz Tiger!"
"That means Rainbow Overdragon's attack points will become fifty-six hundred!" Evo screamed, watching a shower of light fall on the level twelve monster.
Rainbow Overdragon - ATK: 4000 (1600) 5600
"It doesn't matter what I do, I can't beat his monster, or save myself. My facedown won't help me right now. It's over." Evo thought to himself.
"Rainbow Overdragon, finish this duel! Rainbow Over Refraction!"
The beast chased down Evolzar Solda, the two dragons engaging in battle. Solda charged with a swipe, but it was easily deflected. When it shot a fireball at Rainbow Overdragon, it was also easily deflected, receiving a smack from the bigger beast by his tail. Solda crashed into the ground, weak and hurt. Then one charged up blast of power took the dragon out completely, creating an explosion so large that it covered most of the duel field.
Evo - [2500 -(3000) 0LP]
"Woah!" Evo was blown back with Evolzar Lars, both of them crashing to the ground by the shockwave of the blast.
Evo - 0LP [Hand: 0/Deck: 48/Field: 3] Graveyard: 12/Banished: 1
Lincoln - 1900LP [Hand: 0/Deck: 40/Field: 6] Graveyard: 9/Banished: 2
The performance has concluded. The winner is Lincoln Loud. Disengaging duel field, The Midnight Festival.
Within seconds, the field faded as Lincoln got back down to the ground before Rainbow Overdragon disappeared, seeing his deck glow their respective powers. He stared in awe, smiling before saying "Welcome back you guys." Then the cheers of the crowd brought him back.
"There you have it folks, the winner of the first duel is Lincoln Loud, and what an amazing performance he displayed against Evo. While only one of them gets to remain, these gentlemen gave us a duel like never before. A round of applause for them both!"
Everyone complied with the announcers words, stating how awesome it was to see their match while their respective families/friends cheered for the two duelists.
"Well, I may have lost, but that was awesome!" Evo approached Lincoln, extending his hand.
"By far the best duel I've ever had." Lincoln smiled brightly, taking the older kid's hand before shaking it.
"From here on out Lincoln, do your best. If you can, go home with that prize. After this, you gotta duel harder than ever before." Evo said.
"For sure dude. You can count on it." The Loud child replied, both boys stopping their handshake as the crowd continued to give them nothing but cheers.
Not even gonna lie, this might feel rushed, lol. Either way, I hope everyone enjoyed this chapter, as much as I did writing it. Concerning when the sisters will have the chance to start dueling, that will be happening this arc. I'll also be editing this again later just in case for mistakes.
Until then, I hope you all enjoyed this chapter, and I'll see everyone in the next one. Peace.
