Harry sat stiffly in his seat with his teacup and saucer balanced carefully on his lap.
It wasn't that he didn't like Remus's parents, Hope and Lyall; they were really nice people, but Harry had always struggled to come to terms with the fact that they weren't his grandparents.
Although they sure treated Harry as if he were their own.
Remus had taken Harry to visit ever since Harry was young, so their home was rather nostalgic for the teen.
They had gotten past the pleasantries and Remus had told them about his new Defence Against the Dark Arts job. He had just brought up Harry's little escapee much to Harry's dismay and the teen had begun to find his knees considerably interesting.
Remus did feel slightly bad that he didn't tell them in the letter he had sent yesterday, however, Professor Dumbledore would have most likely told his parents himself when they met up for their monthly meetings at the three broomsticks.
"Well - there's no harm done. Everyone makes mistakes from time to time." Hope smiled at Harry who had dropped his head in shame. Tapping the teen's knee lightly, she glared at Remus, as if it was his fault Harry ran away.
Remus could hardly believe his ears.
"You would have blistered me if I did anything like that. I would've been on restriction until I was 17!" He half-joked.
"We barely touched you, son," Lyall replied with a chuckle.
Since Harry had come along, Remus's parents had decided that any kind of corporal punishment was completely barbaric for their Grandson. Remus's parents would often frown at just the mention of it now, which was miles away from how they used to be.
Harry's head popped up as he smirked at Remus and his objection.
"Besides, you were far more trouble than Harry was. Getting detentions every other weekend and sneaking out after curfew." Lyall added.
Harry perked up even more at that. "Remus told me he was a model student!"
"I think I'll excuse myself" Remus smirked as he stood up and walked to the living room door. "And don't go giving Harry any ideas, Merlin knows he doesn't need any"
Harry watched as Remus walked out. "Tell me everything!" He exclaimed.
"Your guardian was nothing short of a terror in his younger years at school Harry," Hope replied. "Sent his father grey by the end of his first year."
"Really!" Harry exclaimed. He always thought he was the worst child in the world whenever he did anything wrong, so to hear stories about Remus made him feel considerably better.
"Once he and his little gang of friends decided to venture into the Forbidden Forrest in search of a rare plant. Professor McGonagall was not best pleased when she summoned all the parents to the school and neither were we, considering it was the second day back."
"Yes, but I've told you before, that wasn't my fault, James dared us all to do it," Remus yelled from the kitchen. "We got caned for that as well, so it was certainly a lesson learnt"
Harry's eyes grew wide. He couldn't imagine McGonagall doing that to any of her students nowadays.
"Lesson well learnt" Hope muttered under her breath with a chuckle. "Don't listen to him Harry, he went in the forest again a month later."
"Yes, and we got suspended for that!" Remus replied as he entered the living room again.
Harry found this entire situation rather humorous.
"Make everyone another cup of tea will you son?" Lyall asked as Remus re-entered.
"Oh, me and Harry had better be off soon so I won't make us another, but I could make one for you both?"
"No bother, we will have another cuppa later," Hope replied, placing her empty mug on the coffee table.
"Now, are you finished leading my ward astray?" Remus took his seat again, looking at both his parents.
Lyall laughed, "Nothing we have said was a lie, son."
"You've just given a boy who has trouble following him about 5 new ideas, so when he next gets into trouble, I'll send him to you, okay?"
"Fine by me" Hope answered as her husband nodded.
"Fine by me too!" Harry replied.
Remus rubbed his temples. "It's 3 against 1 here I see,"
Harry grinned.
"Well, we'd best be off home, Harry has summer assignments and I have prep to do."
Harry stood up from the sofa, placing the cup on the table.
"Let us know how your first day goes, won't you, Remus."
"Of course, Mum," They leaned in for a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
Lyall turned to Harry, squeezing his shoulder, "Enjoy your third year my boy, I dare say you are growing up far too quickly."
"Tell me about it" Remus added. "He'll have a 6-foot beard before we know it."
Harry rolled his eyes as he turned to Hope, "See you soon Nan" he said, and hugged her.
Harry saw the smile on Hope's face grow wider at the name Harry used.
Remus noticed but didn't comment as he stepped into the fireplace, Harry followed suit.
"Bye Mum, Bye Dad," Remus called as he picked up a handful of floo powder.
"Love you Nan and Grandad." Harry called as Remus dropped the power. Even as his grandparents' faces became a blur, Harry could see the unmistakable smiles on their faces.
As they shot through the floor, Harry gripped hold of Remus's torso. Not wanting to be launched out as so often was the case.
They slowed down as they reached their home in Yorkshire again, Harry felt a little queasy but floo travel had undoubtedly got easier for him over the years.
Remus stepped out first, before helping his son over the grate on the fireplace, wiping the soot from their clothes.
Remus smiled warmly at Harry. "Just so you know, calling them Nan and Grandad means more to them than you could ever know."
"I know – it just felt right today somehow," Harry replied, flopping down on the sofa as he did.
"Well, I'm glad you waited until the time felt right." Remus sat down next to Harry. "But if it did feel weird to you again, then you don't have to call them that. I know they would never want to replace Mr. and Mrs. Potter with you."
"It's okay – they've never tried to do that, so I don't mind."
Remus put his arm around Harry as he rubbed the top of the teen's arm.
"Do you have much summer homework to do?"
"Merlin, do I?" Harry moaned. "Snape set this, like, monster essay which will take forever."
The teen's dramatic nature always made Remus laugh. "Well, best you make a start on it soon then!"
"Yeah, in a bit."
"By soon, I kind of meant now Cub. School starts back soon."
"Urgh, don't remind me." Harry sunk down on the sofa.
Remus tapped Harry's thigh. "Go and get your backpack, and you can work on some of it, while I make us some tea."
Harry stood and after a stretch, made his way upstairs. Remus silently thanked Merlin that he had gotten Harry to start his homework without too much of a fuss.
"And then, your dad tried to stand on his broom, but your Granddad caught him before he fell." Remus chuckled," I'd never seen Mr Potter so angry in his life.
Harry smirked back. It had been one of the best evenings he had had in a long time. Despite being in serious trouble less than forty-eight hours ago, they had enjoyed a lovely day. One thing Harry was grateful for was that Remus hardly ever held a grudge.
"I think it is time that someone started getting ready for bed," Lupin said, looking at the clock and noting that it was nearing midnight. He was sure that the past few days had been nothing but tiring for the young teen and he was not yet prepared for a cranky boy.
Harry quickly downed his second mug of hot chocolate and cheekily took a fourth chocolate biscuit from the plate, despite Remus instructing him that he could only have three.
Remus suppressed a chuckle as he followed the boy down the corridor and into his room. Picking out a pair of pyjamas, he chucked them onto the bed and said he would return in a moment to say goodnight.
Harry quickly undressed and changed into his pyjamas, brushed his teeth and hopped under his covers. He was sure that at this age, most people didn't have their parents coming in and saying goodnight, but he did not care.
He heard a faint knock as he called for the man to come in.
Remus opened the door and took a seat at the end of Harry's bed.
"I want to discuss something quite important with you," Remus stated simply.
Harry looked up from his book at the man who looked quite solemn. The teen tried to rack his brain as to anything he could have possibly done wrong. He thought about the locked drawer but he hadn't been able to open it and take anything; besides, the man had been in the living room the entire time Harry had been in the office and that was a few days ago now.
"Don't worry, you aren't in trouble Harry." Remus couldn't help but comment, the boy's face gave away his emotions in a heartbeat. "Unless there is something I should be aware of?"
"No, no there isn't." Harry hastily replied and, at that moment, instantly felt thankful that he had refrained from opening the drawer. Remus had been particularly understanding when he had run away and Harry didn't want to do anything to upset the man further.
"I understand that what I am about to say may come as a shock to you, but I feel that it is important that you should know the full story about how I got my condition."
Harry was confused; the full story? What was Remus on about?
As far as he knew, Remus was bitten by a werewolf when one climbed through his window as a child.
"Well, as you know, I was bitten by a wolf when I was 5 and was taken to St Mungo's."
Harry nodded slowly
"The person's name who bit me was Fenrir Greyback, a known follower of you-know-who and a known Werewolf who was notorious for biting young children," Remus replied as the words almost tumbled from his mouth.
"Okay," Harry spoke, confused as to where this was going.
"Well, the full story is that I was bitten because I ran away from home after my father upset me. He had had a bad day at work and had accused Greyback of being a Werewolf in front of the court, but no one had believed him." Remus paused to see if Harry wanted to say anything – continuing when Harry stayed silent.
"Your grandfather came home for the day and, purely out of frustration, snapped at me and I was very upset by this. So, I ran away. Likely heading for the park but I never made it that far as Greyback attacked me 2 minutes away from my home."
Harry looked at the pained expression on Lupin's face. "It's okay. I don't care that you didn't tell me the full story before."
Remus nodded in understanding. "I'm not sure what stopped me. But seeing how grown up you are getting, I felt you deserved to know the truth."
"Thanks for telling me." Said Harry, picking at the skin around his thumb. "Good to know I'm not the only one who ran away from home as a kid." He added cheekily.
"Ahh, but we both took our medicine for it, huh."
"You didn't deserve that though – you were only five."
"Some people have a harder life than others Harry, You'll know all too well about that." He rubbed the child's knee affectionately. "Some people say it builds character, but I'd argue it builds strength."
Harry smiled to himself.
"You know, when I came to Hogwarts, your father was my first and best friend who was extremely loyal and understanding of my condition; a trait he has certainly passed down to you," Remus said warmly as Harry's emerald eyes seemed to light up when he smiled.
"Were your first full moons really painful?" Harry asked. Despite living with Remus for most of his life, it was almost a forbidden topic that he didn't like to question about, but it seemed that Lupin was feeling okay to talk about it tonight.
"The first few were not full transformations but yes, they've always been painful. I would lose my mind and scratch myself to the bone. However, as you know, they have recently developed a potion called Wolfsbane; so now I just sleep it off until the night passes."
"It must be horrible," Harry replied feeling slightly bad that he hadn't fully stopped to consider Remus's condition before now.
"It's not particularly pleasurable," Remus replied with the understatement of the century.
"The next full moon must be a few days away, right?"
"Two days, yes. I've asked Nan and Grandad if they could look after you for me while I'm transforming so I'll have to let you know what they say."
"Okay, I don't mind sleeping over their house if it's easier?"
"I'll ask them and see. – Speaking of tomorrow, our quarters at Hogwarts are ready for us to move into so would you like to go and visit tomorrow, and we'll see what it is like?
"Sure, sounds good to me," – a large yawn shook Harry's small frame.
"Right – we will go and visit tomorrow morning then. I'll wake you up at around 8."
Harry groaned.
"How about eight-thirty then?" Remus suggested. "You know, you're just like your father with early mornings but you are going back to school soon so you are going to have to get used to it soon enough!"
"I know, I know."
"Anyway, it's getting late so I'll let you get your beauty sleep." Remus ruffled the teen's hair and tucked the duvet in.
"Goodnight Cub."
"Night."
Remus flicked the lights off with his wand and pulled the door shut lightly.
He was feeling particularly tired himself and so decided that going to bed slightly earlier wouldn't do anyone any harm.
Remus tapped the lock with his wand, speaking the 'alohomora' spell.
"This," – the door swung open, "is our new home." Remus smiled widely.
Harry peeked around the doorframe and to his surprise, he saw a cosy little living room with lots of natural light coming through. Adjacent to the living room was the kitchen-diner which was just off a short corridor.
"Can I go and see my room?" Harry asked excitedly.
"Of course, I believe Professor Filch said it was the second door on the left."
Remus watched as Harry sped down the corridor and swung open the door.
"Woah!" He heard his son exclaim.
Remus decided to follow and when he got to the door, he saw what Harry was so excited about.
The room was large, larger than both of their bedrooms back at home. With a bay window, en-suite and a double bed, Harry likely felt like he had won the lotto.
"Oh, maybe it was the door on the right. This looks like my room." Remus teased.
"Really?" Harry said, trying to hide his disappointment.
"Only joking cub," Remus smirked.
Harry's smile returned as he decided to run and bellyflop onto his bed.
"You'll have to pick the colours that you want to decorate it with."
"Red and gold of course," Harry replied instantly. Confused as to why he would pick any other colours. Gryffindor was, after all, the best house.
Harry watched as Remus flicked his wand and turned the bedsheets, curtains, and rug into Gryffindor colours.
"Did you want to stay here tonight instead of going back home?"
"Definitely!" I love it here already." The excitement was yet to leave Harry's tone.
Remus felt his heart swell at the teen's excitement. He had secretly been worried that Harry wouldn't like their new quarters or might get upset about sleeping in his new room tonight rather than back home. Remus had already asked Nipa to begin packing up their things at home and so he had hoped Harry would agree to stay.
"I'll let you explore some more and then we'll have a hot chocolate in the living room, How does that sound?"
"Good! Harry replied as he dramatically rolled off the bed into a pile on the floor. Lupin chuckled and simply walked away from his hyper thirteen-year-old.
"What do you know about Sirius Black?"
Harry glanced up at his guardian as pushed himself into a sitting-up position, abandoning the history of magic essay that he had previously been working on.
The pair had had their hot chocolate and Harry had written a couple of letters to Ron and Hermione. He was then working on his summer assignments.
"Only what you've told me really. That he killed twelve muggles and got locked up in Azkaban for it." Harry replied honestly.
"He is a very dangerous man, and some people suggest that he may be armed with a wand. Even the muggles know of him and are to report any sightings, should they see him." The man paused as he tried to find the correct words. "Black was supposedly a loyal follower of you-know-who and for that reason, I cannot stress enough how important it is for you to keep yourself out of harm's way."
"I know, I won't do anything stupid this year," Harry replied, his emerald eyes locking with his guardians in an attempt to solidify his point. "How did he break out then?"
"No one is quite sure yet, but it is certainly being looked into. No prisoner is meant to get passed the Dementors; this is the first recorded case in its history."
"The what?" Harry questioned.
"Dementors. They are black-like creatures who feed off the happiness of others. Whilst they are blind and deaf, they seek people out by their souls. They are, in my opinion, one of the most frightening creatures."
Harry uncontrollably shuddered at the thought of them. "So, if they are blind, they obviously did not see Black escape?"
"No, but the prison is also guarded by spells and charms which were supposed to make it impossible for humans to break through without knowing the counterspells."
"Well, I hope they catch him soon, so people won't be in danger," Harry replied.
"I think most people do Harry. I am sure it'll only be a matter of time." Remus answered, feeling guilty for not telling Harry the whole truth about Sirius. He knew, in time the truth would come out but, not wanting to overwhelm the child with more new information, Remus decided that perhaps later in the year the timing may be more appropriate or when Black was inevitably caught.
"Why don't you pack away some of those books and we can go and deliver those letters to your friends?"
"Sure," the young teen replied as he gathered up his things and disappeared down the hall and into his bedroom.
"Bring a jacket back out with you," Remus called, hoping the boy heard him.
Harry frowned as he poked his head around the door frame, "Why?"
"Because it might get a bit chilly up there."
"But it's August - it's summer?"
"I'm well aware of the season, Just grab a coat, Harry, even if you don't wear it."
"But I don't –"
"For Merlin's sake Harry, just bring one," Remus replied humorously.
"Okay, okay" Harry replied as his head disappeared back around the doorframe.
Remus smiled to himself; the boy was certainly stubborn when he wanted to be.
Harry reappeared with his shoes on and a jacket over his arm, he didn't care how cold he got, he wasn't going to wear it just to prove the man wrong.
"Have you got the letters?"
"Oh – no, hang on a second," Harry replied as he ran back down the hall to retrieve the letters from his desk.
Once again Remus found himself smiling at the child. So, he was a bit scatty as well as stubborn. "Ready now?"
"Ready," Harry replied back.
The pair exited their quarters and made their way outside and up to the Owlery where Hedwig was currently living.
They made their way up the steps and, when they got near the top of the tower, Remus turned to admire the view of the Scottish Highlands.
"I forgot how beautiful this place was." The man commented.
"I know, I found this place pretty soon at the start of my first year; it's somewhere I like to go when I want a bit of quiet. It's usually deserted for hours at a time."
"Well, you certainly picked a nice place."
They walked into the tower where Harry almost immediately spotted Hedwig, she was the only pure white owl out of the hundreds of owls that lived there, so stuck out like a sore thumb.
Harry called for Hedwig to come down and he retrieved the letters from the pocket of his trousers.
"Take these to Ron and Hermione for me and make sure they reply quickly," Harry asked as the owl took them and flew out of the window, away from the tower.
Remus watched in fondness at the owl and his ward, their bond was clear and she certainly was a beautiful owl.
"I suppose we will need to go to Diagon Alley soon to get all your school stuff," Remus asked his son, leaning against the owlery railings.
"Yeah, I don't think my trousers are going to fit me anymore."
"You are growing up far too quickly. - I can remember when you were tiny, flying around on a broomstick your father gave you for your birthday and now, you're taking part in real quidditch matches, scaring me half to death every time." Remus smirked and Harry smiled fondly.
The wind began to whistle around them as, despite it being August, they were high up on a mountain.
"Let's head back, it's getting windy up here."
Remus noted that Harry hadn't put his jacket on, despite goosebumps sprouting on his arms. The Potter stubbornness was out again…
"Did you get much of your summer work finished?" Lupin asked the teen as he came strolling into the kitchen to eat his dinner.
"Yeah, I've just got to write the last paragraph of my transfiguration essay and then I am finished," Harry replied, feeling rather proud of himself.
"Excellent, You'll be able to relax for a few days before term starts again." The man paused as he went to place their plates on the table. "I thought I should let you know; Professor Dumbledore has asked to have a meeting with me tonight, and rather than get someone to look after you, I've agreed to let him come over here. I trust that I do not need to set a silencing charm and that you will stay in bed?"
"You won't," Harry replied, taking a bite out of his meal. "Can I ask you something?" Harry suddenly said.
He hadn't even had time to formulate how he was going to say it in his head but now he was jumping headfirst into the deep end. Besides, he was sure his guardian would say no.
"What is it,"
"You know how third-years are allowed to go to Hogsmeade once a month."
"I do."
"Well, I was wondering if you would sign it for me."
Lupin felt his heart sink. The very last thing he wanted to do was to make the boy's life miserable but, with the threat of Sirius Black looming around, the man felt that it just would not be safe enough to allow the teen to wander freely around Hogsmeade.
"I'm not sure Harry. We only discussed the situation of Sirius Black this morning; there haven't been any sightings of him as of yet, meaning he could be anywhere."
"Please, Remus. Everyone will be going, and I'll just be left here on my own."
"I understand that Harry but, like I said –"
"I know - Sirius Black is a threat" Harry replied as he cut his guardian off.
"Do not interrupt me when I am speaking please." Lupin lightly scolded. "Should Black be caught, then of course I will allow you to attend Hogsmeade with your friends but, until then, I think the answer has to be no."
"But that's not fair."
"It is not my job to make your life fair, but it is my job to protect you and if that means not allowing you to do something, then that is what I will do. I am not going to continue to argue with you about this."
Harry sighed loudly as he pushed his chair back with a bit more force than he intended. "I'm going to my room," the teen said with as much attitude as he dared.
"I understand that you may be angry with me and you are entitled to feel that way; you are free to join me in the living room should you want to, until eleven o'clock when Professor Dumbledore arrives, then I want you in bed."
Harry turned to have his back to the man as he pulled a face. Harry walked down the corridor and to his room as he closed the door rather loudly, praying that his guardian would not follow. Harry wasn't sure what had angered him so much and he did feel quite bad at treating Lupin like that, but he just wanted to be normal for once in his life.
Just as his door closed, the food that he was meant to be eating at the table appeared on his desk with a heating charm applied.
Harry ignored the food and instead glanced up at his window as he saw his white, snowy owl Hedwig flying towards him, letters in hand. He opened the window and took the letters from her beak, instructing her to go up to the owlery with the other owls.
He opened the letters and scanned his way through both. Hermione wrote back saying that she would be meeting the Weasleys at King's Cross on the first of September. Ron had informed him that his family were in Egypt after winning the lotto and invited Harry to meet his family, along with Hermione, at King's Cross station to travel back to Hogwarts together.
It hadn't occurred to Harry, until now that he was, currently, already at Hogwarts and so he wondered whether Lupin let him travel on the train as he had always done.
After being in his room for a mere half an hour and eating just enough of his dinner that Remus would be satisfied, Harry quietly made his way down to the living room where his guardian sat in his seat on the sofa, reading as usual.
"Harry?" Lupin called out as he heard soft footsteps.
"Yeah, it's me." Harry paused, "I'm sorry for arguing earlier." He finished as he reached the end of the corridor. "Can I come and sit with you."
"Of course you can, I did not send you to your room," Lupin replied as he watched his ward walk over to the sofa and take a seat, still with a guilty look plastered on his face.
"I am sorry. I didn't mean to talk to you like that."
"I know, and I do understand your frustrations however, you have got to watch that attitude of yours. One day it's going to get you into trouble."
"Trouble always finds me"
Lupin smirked at the teen sitting in front of him, "You are too curious for your own good. That's your problem."
"Probably," Harry replied. Now, thinking about it, his curiosity did usually get him into trouble, The chamber, and the stone, all happened because he wanted to find out more about them not because someone forced him there. Perhaps that's why he was so interested in unlocking the drawer a few days ago.
"Have you had a reply from your friends yet?"
"Oh yeah, Ron asked if I could meet his family and Hermione at King's Cross to go back to school on the train?"
Lupin had conflicting messages in his head. He wanted to say yes to the boy but again, similar to Hogsmeade, it was a risk. However, it was also unlikely that Sirius Black would manage to find his way onto a train. Lupin suddenly found a solution to his problem, "You can providing that I come with you to London and on the train."
"Do you have to sit with us?" Harry asked, he wanted to travel on the train but the very last thing he wanted was to have his parent watching over him like a child.
"No, I will sit in a different compartment, there's no need to look so horrified." Lupin chuckled as the child's face returned to normal.
"Then okay, you can come," Harry replied, feeling pleased that he could travel to Hogwarts like normal.
"I will write to Mrs Weasley tonight and let her know that you will be meeting them there then."
"Brilliant," Harry replied, his mood ever so slightly lifted.
Harry opened his eyes as he heard the floor roar to life below him. It had just gone eleven o'clock and Lupin had already said goodnight to him. He knew the man thought he would be asleep by now and he knew he had been warned of the consequences, but he couldn't help but wonder what the meeting was about.
He sang his legs round and stood up, forgoing the slippers that lay by his door, through fear of making too much noise.
Opening the door as quietly as he possibly could, he stepped out into the hall and instantly heard his guardian's voice…
"Near Hogsmeade?"
"Yes, reported last night by a villager walking through, Apparently Black was not armed and looked rather scruffy. I wanted to tell you tonight Remus before it is published in the Daily Prophet in the morning."
"What does that mean for Harry, is he safe here?" Remus questioned
"Hogwarts is certainly one of the safest places he could be in such circumstances however we will be strengthening the defences tomorrow and, by order of the Minister, we will have to have dementors stationed around the grounds."
"Dementors. Are they even necessary? The man has escaped them once, there is absolutely no reason why he would not be able to do so again." Remus replied as he felt his voice rising.
"I have tried to resist the order, but there is nothing I can do Remus. I do not want them here any more than yourself."
"All I want to do is keep Harry safe, but with his knack for trouble, this year is going to be harder than –" Lupin paused as he could've sworn he saw part of a small arm in the hallway. He looked over at the headmaster who seemingly saw something as well.
Harry felt his breath hitch as he realised that his guardian had stopped talking. Harry pressed himself against the wall as he saw a shadow walking down the hall, coming towards him.
It was then, that he heard his guardian's voice, "I think we will continue our conversation another time Professor. It seems that someone is unable to follow the simple instructions that I gave him before you arrived."
Harry heard his headmaster reply but only faintly as his ears were ringing, and his face felt like it was going to burn off his face with embarrassment.
He felt his guardian take a grip of his arm and guide him back to his room; the man's brows were furrowed, and he looked plenty cross. Harry felt his stomach twist as he recognised that it was himself who had caused his guardian's anger.
"Were my instructions too difficult to understand?" Lupin asked.
"No, no sir." Harry felt himself reply as he took a few steps back from the man. He felt a single tear escape his eye as he frantically brushed it away; he wasn't going to cry over a scolding. If Remus had noticed it, he did not comment.
"Then why did you think it would be acceptable to eavesdrop on my conversation? You would not like it if I came and listened in on your conversations when you were talking to your friends would you?"
"No, I'm sorry" Harry replied shakily. The man was right, he would not like that one bit.
"I did not invade your privacy when you were writing your letters to your friends. That is because I respect you." The man paused as he willed himself to get his frustration under control. "How much did you hear?"
"Only that he was spotted in Hogsmeade and that dementors were going to be at the school," Harry replied honestly as he saw his guardian's features soften slightly.
"I was going to tell you that information in the morning should you have waited. - I told you only yesterday that the full moon is only two days away and you know it makes me moody."
"I'm sorry," Harry replied as he climbed back into his bed, sitting so that his back was resting on the headboard. His face had returned much more to his usual colour, but he still had a feeling of shame in his stomach.
"I know." Lupin wasn't sure if that was the correct thing to say but, he could see in the child's face the remorse written all over it and the single tear that the boy had shed. "Now, you are going to go to bed and stay there this time. We will discuss this some more in the morning; it's getting late now."
The man lightly tucked the covers around his ward and walked over to the light before flicking the switch off.
"Night"," Harry mumbled for the second time that evening.
"Goodnight Harry."
