My Chuck

Despite Chuck explaining their story on the beach, and kissing her, Sarah still did not fully recall her memories. Also, she did not feel the relationship she built with Chuck. She understood and accepted that they were legally married on a genuine care for each other that once existed. However, all she knew is that she trusted Chuck; but she did not feel anything for him. She did not understand how she would fall for a man like him. Other men in her life were traditional alpha stallions.

Sarah had lived with Chuck for a few weeks now, if only because she had nowhere to go besides her mother's home. Chuck told her about the reunion with her mom and the baby she saved and Hungary; but she did not remember. Sarah's default instincts of trying to outrun her past made her apprehensive to take this option. Of course, Chuck was willing to accommodate her. She had been sleeping on the couch and living with Chuck as a regular roommate.

She still slept with a gun nearby and jumped at the slightest of disturbances. Thunder made her jump from her laying position as she grabbed her pistol. It was 2AM in the morning as Chuck came out to the kitchen for orange juice. Chuck knew what was happening and casually stated:

"Sarah, relax and put the gun down. It's just lightning."

Sarah processed his remark and then realized it was just a natural occurrence in nature. From her time with her father to her CIA training, her mind was trained view any irregularity as a threat. As Chuck returned to bed, she wondered why she was so trusting of him. Surely, she had been with other men, and yet she trusted Chuck completely. She could not process why. It was against her nature. Perhaps because he is so disarming as a person. She remembered stories about how he wouldn't kill, except for the one time he shot Daniel Shaw in Paris because she was at risk of getting murdered.

Casey had reminded her that he couldn't bring himself to kill his target during his red test. John did it for him. He just wasn't wired like the other agents she had ever met. Supposedly he had an immovable moral compass. A stable and kind compass that exuded someone trustworthy and a person who was normal, uncorrupted by CIA doctrines. As Sarah thought about it, it was what she had been searching for since she was a child going from town to town with her father. What she had been searching for since she offered her hands to be cuffed by Langston Graham as she was recruited by the CIA.

Sarah's whole life was one of volatility. Chuck was the opposite. Despite Chuck's issues with parents, he always had friends and family around to stabilize him. That's what Sarah wanted, and Chuck, along with all of his moral stands, was that vehicle. And yes, he was attractive, even if in a nerdy kind of way. She felt vulnerable as she always did going back to sleep. The number of countless nights she had over the years were beyond measure. She always toughed it out. She was Sarah Walker. But increasingly, she wondered if she could continue her strong façade over time. As she laid down and increasingly thought about everything, she wondered if she needed to go it alone anymore. Casey told her how they became friends and worked together on missions to protect Chuck despite the twos' preconceptions of the other. If this were true, it would be a big change for her. And perhaps she does not have to go it alone in life either.

Sarah worked up her will and threw off her blankets on the couch. She walked toward what she believed would stabilize her. As she entered Chuck's bedroom, she could see the Tron poster present. She assured herself that Chuck was the best thing to ever happen to her. Sarah walked around the bed and gently laid down. She embraced Chuck as strong as she could. Chuck's eyes opened up in response.

"Sarah?!"

Sarah gazed into his eyes as she held him close.

"Chuck, I don't remember everything. But what I know is I don't want to be apart from you. You simply being you…My Chuck is more than I ever could have asked,"

Chuck looked at Sarah with a lovely gaze and pulled her close. The two began shedding tears as they hugged. Chuck felt like this was a breakthrough. Sarah was just relieved to be near her Governor. What Chuck's dad made for him to control the Intersect, Chuck was that for Sarah.

Sarah then slept soundly through the night, despite the lightning.
