I walk in and set my bag down on my bed. "Today was a great day, wasn't it, Plagg?" I ask, flopping down on the bed. "We made a stand about plastic pollution, I was able to give Marinette a Mandarin lesson, and Cat and Ladybug saved the day." Plagg sticks his head out of the cheese cabinet, mouth full.
"It was a good day, and now I'm burst your bubble, for you have a science test to study for." I groan, sitting up. Plagg is right. I'm getting a slight bit better at standing up to my father, but if I don't study the only person I'll be standing by is the principal.
I work for a couple of hours, studying and catching up on some other homework. I'm working on a math equation when my phone rings. "Hey, love, what are you doing?" "Studying. But Mama wanted to ask if you wanted to come for dinner, cause its lasagna night."
I love Mama's Cheng's cooking, but what I crave even more is the company and the love shown at the Dupain-Cheng house. "I'll have to check, but I'm sure it should be fine. Tell Mama I'll be there." "Okay, I'll see you tonight, Adrien." "I love you, Marinette."
I hang up and sigh. Even if Marinette and I are saying a quick goodnight over the phone, we always make time to say I love you.
Father says I can go, and when I get back to my room I punch my fist in victory. I'm grabbing my bag when I hear a clank, clank! Sound coming from it. I'm glad I checked because I find two glass bottles and remember its from the drinks Marinette and I had at lunch.
I rub my chin, a germ of an idea being planted in my brain. I head down to my mother's garden, and walk into the shed, grabbing a small trowel.
Scooping dirt into the two bottles, I put the things back and head out. "Your not going to give Marinette dirt, are you?" Plagg yelps at me. I smile. "No, of course not, Plagg. This is only the first part of the gift."
Once at Sprouts and Stems, the local flower shop, I wander through the flowers looking for the perfect ones for Marinette and Mama Chen. I find a bluebell that is the exact shade of Marinette's eyes, and for Mama Cheng, I find a red snapdragon, for Mama can have a sweet temperament, but make her angry and she gets fiery.
"Surprise!" I hand Marinette her gift, and Mama too when they answer the door. "Oh, Adrien, these flowers are beautiful. And that was smart thinking, using the glass bottles as a vase."
"We've talked a lot about recycling today, and love is used again and again. But unlike recycling you never throw love away."
