The Past: Part 1
1000 years ago.
A blue sky had risen over the most populated schooling in history of the set class and species of Guardians and Angels, Willowset University was a school specifically for Guardians and Angels to learn and achieve new skill sets and improve with their overall magical powers.
Birds could be heard that were obviously always up bright and early, chirping away as the start and sign of a new day. Though this day wasn't new for this young girl as she let out a large yawn, sitting upward from her comfortable bed and stretching her arms upward before letting them collapse, sitting there with her hair all knotted and rattled from the sleep she had overnight, which was not much.
"Good morning, Amalick." A voice had approached the young angel, who only let out a small annoyed growl back at the insulted nickname. "It's Amilia for the hundredth time." Amilia growled, scratching her head as she let out yet another yawn, showing how hard it was to wake up currently due to someone who had to ruin yet another start of a morning.
Amilia was stuck and kept in a dorm with a roommate, specifically another girl who went by the name Terra, who was also a complete asshole and jerk, a major bully just like almost everyone else or there was those who chose to not help and avoided such bullying so that they wouldn't get involved.
Meanwhile majority of other Angels got to have their own rooms all to themselves, then there was the guardians who were kept separated from the angels in a building across from there own set for only angels while the other was only for guardians, this was a general thing only so it would prevent unnecessary branding of angels marking guardians which was forbidden until the end years of schooling.
This was restricted because of past incidents, guardians were already very powerful enough individually but angels on the other hand had their powers reduced and restricted in general without a guardian, even if an angel and guardian were not fully trained and aware of their powers, branding still could occur as it worked by mainly bonds and being compatible with one another without even knowing it.
So this always left one question in Amilia's head, what benefits do the guardians get when being marked as it mainly restricts them, making her feel it's unfair… When an angel marks a guardian and an angel receives injuries, so does the guardian, this includes even death but if the guardian dies then the angel does not, this only removes the mark and allows the angel to search for a new guardian.
Guardians also were restricted distant wise, being too far from their angel left them with migraines and different types of pain which could lead to even passing out or worse but this also didn't apply to angels, this made Amilia feel like what's the point of bonding with someone else with how unfair it is.
Sure, this was a risk for the guardian, leaving the angel with much more benefits, including increasing powers to full potential and she saw this to be the reason why it was forbidden in Willowset as control loss of powers could lead to great devastation or worse, so why did many guardians choose to continue with this and still allow being marked when it could be easily avoided, they were more free without an angel binding them.
This was a large question Amilia has always had in her head, even when going to bed and she knew she still had many many years of teaching before she herself would even be allowed to acquire a guardian of her own, they were almost like an angels pet as they also were binded by having to obey the angels commands.
"Yo Amalick, best get ya lazy two shoes outa bed or you'll be late again, you know how Mrs. Mu gets when she's upset." Terra scoffed as if attempting to threaten her and back her by really saying 'you best stay put and get in trouble again', Amilia only glared at her before rolling her eyes and throwing the covers off herself, completely taking that major question of hers off track for now as it always returned anyway.
Mrs. Mu was their schooling teacher in class 2A room, which of course was all angels including this entire building side and as much as she hated to admit it, Terra was correct, Mu could be terrifying when she was upset but in a way she also had a soft side towards Amilia as she did try her best, yes you heard right, despite all the angel and guardian stuff having magical powers and abilities, this school still consisted of educational learning such as even studying and homework.
As much as Amilia just wanted to jump towards learning to control and unlock more with her magic, it was always prevented by studies until it came the days to go to the training grounds, learn combat skills and moves and even magical control.
Amilia yet distracted once more, leaped off the bed and quickly threw on some clothes as Terra had already been ready, she tended to wake up an hour early every morning and the fact Amilia almost gets close to no sleep every night didn't help and the reason being that Terra was one of those awful people that snores very loudly, which made it near impossible to fall asleep.
This always made it difficult for Amilia to focus, especially with her studies and in class, nearly falling asleep during even lectures. Amilia quickly grabbed her books as Terra had taken her leave, meeting up with other girls in the hallway, obviously talking crap about Amilia already as they headed towards class.
Amilia was always left to having to close and lock the dorm room door, considering she was always last to take her leave towards class, she also always glanced out the window and directed her attention towards the other building across from theirs, seeing the guardians in the far distance outside and also on their way to class, she couldn't make out any of their faces or clothing very well but guardians always had the most gorgeous of wings that towered over them and she could make that out clearly.
No one else was around in the dorms in her area as she walked down the stairs, most likely everyone was already outside doing their routines of heading to class, library and more other places for specific angels. Amilia was stuck with studying and books, having to pass multiple sets of work, studies, tests and quizzes before advancing further like most angels have already. It honestly made her jealous in a way seeing these angels, especially the teachers and higher ups that ran the school, keeping it together and protected.
That's when she noticed all the angels, exiting the dorm and entering the outside, letting in some of the fresh air into her lungs as all the angels walked across the path towards different building entrances for their start of the new and ordinary day as usual.
As Amilia lifted all her books upward to remake them comfortable, holding the stack with both arms and hands, including the small backpack that rested upon her back shoulder with majority of other supplies for class, she proceeded towards the building for her class of the day only to be rudely bumped into by a group of other angels on purpose, clearly that she tried to avoid.
"Best watch it nooby girl!" A boy laughed from the group as he and two other angels beside him laughed, peering over their shoulders at the now found stack of books and Amilia herself on the ground, watching them continue to walk onward and leave her.
Amilia let out a small defeated sigh, this wasn't new to her, nor was it the first time this has happened, she was the lowest of the low ranked angels and as much as she also hated to admit to this, angels and even guardians were ranked from top to bottom of the best to least intelligent people, this included magic and physical capabilities.
She reached out, grabbing one of the books that now rested on the ground to retrieve and pick up the mess as even her unfinished and due homework tomorrow was within them. She heard the sound of footsteps stopping behind her, and without even needing to look she figured it was just another angel that came to either taunt or knock her stuff back to the ground, but she was wrong when she heard the rustling sound of the person lean down and pick up a book off the ground gently.
Amilia turned herself around with the only book in hand she picked up, knees on the ground and sitting up, in shock. There, stood directly a one and only guardian, as he opened the book and glanced into it curiously, leaving Amilia both amazed and astonished seeing one so close up as the two different species were forcefully separated.
Though, she immediately recognized him due to rumors that had skyrocketed over the years and reached all over the school, she recognized his towering golden covered top wings with inner black, but most importantly the golden ancient writing that covered his body and all the back of his wings, including his pure gold eyes that had directed their attention to her, making her react with a small stagger.
"You… You're… Zarasa, aren't you?!" Amilia asked him in amazement, this only seemed to anger him in some way as he closed the book forcefully, subtly glaring at her.
"Don't call me that. It's just a useless and meaningless nick... name…" He began, only to stop midway and notice the look change on Amilia's face from that amazement to a sadden and regretful one. Amilia recognized him due to his colors, the so called meaningless nickname had an actual meaning he clearly knew about but still denied it, most likely hating the name as it meant golden one.
He received this name by other guardians that had spread, he was apparently very intelligent and on the very top leaderboard of rankings for guardians, not only that but he was also the one and only 2nd category guardian, a guardian who could not be branded or marked by any angel in anyway unless he accepted them which is most likely why he was over here now at the angels buildings.
The higher up angels allowed him to enter and go to the angels buildings only for the library to grab some books for studying, she had heard rumors of this herself and she knew he had an actual real name that people seemed to have refused to call him by, so she could see why he hated the nickname.
All the angels that walked by had immediately locked their attention on the guardian that only stood there, looking at the pathetic girl on the ground which caused mimicking among the angels and insulting as she was also known to be a pitiful angel and was directed to being bullied, this caused her to lower her head shamefully with having Zarasa here and apparently helping her.
She noticed him glance around with just his eyes, mainly at a group of angels that chose to just stand and watch behind them a bit away, being the ones mimicking and insulting Amilia mainly while also being amazed at seeing the guardian in an angels domain due to rules and restrictions.
The guardian only let out a small sigh before he crouched down to Amilia's level, "Zenavi…" He began, handing out the book that belonged to her back, this caused her to look up at him in confusement, "It's Zenavi, not Zarasa, Navi for short if it helps." He added.
This made Amilia smile, this was the first time someone had treated her kindly, guardian or not. "Amilia." She said, accepting the book back, he continued to help her pick up the remaining books that rested on the ground, what amazed her more is that he even helped her all the way to her class, she had came to the conclusion he did this due to the other angels most likely planning something such as knocking her down once more.
