Chapter One

Bullets of water came pouring down upon the earth, charcoal-colored clouds unable to bear their weight, dropping the heavy load onto everything that dared to step under the onslaught of the sky's tears. The bullets fell so fast one could have sworn they saw the liquid shred through umbrellas and raincoats. Every few minutes a brilliant light would flash above the angry clouds, an ear-splitting explosion chasing the lightning only seconds behind.

The once cheerful city of Hargeon soon became enveloped in the gloom that stalks the rain. Citizens smart enough to bring an umbrella briskly walk under the downpour, and the unlucky souls who forgot theirs run under small coverings few stores provide.

Natsu Dragneel, one of the unfortunate citizens, bolted between the bullets and into his apartment complex. The dingy, dirty building had seen better days. Cracks formed along the brick walls, creating a web of fissures for insects to escape the onslaught. Mud splatters stained dull bricks black and brown, the discolored slabs forever mournful of their former glory.

Despite the unfavorable weather, a large, toothy grin never left the pink-haired man's face. Quickly unlocking his one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment he dashes inside in an attempt to escape the tears. Once sheltered, Natsu whips out his phone with a speed that rivals lightning, his toothy smile growing all the wider.

Sending a quick text, Natsu tosses his coat and shoes onto the grimy tiled floor while on the way to the bathroom, grin still plastered to his face. Nothing beats a hot shower after walking through the rain. Despite the apartment's less-than-desirable appearance, Natsu is forever grateful for the almost constant supply of hot water.

Tan arms lift the corner of his cotton shirt as he slowly pries the drenched material off. A soft ping interrupts the man's thoughts, focus pulled back to the message flashing across his screen. His emerald eyes gleam with joy as a short chuckle reverberates through his chest. Feeling brave, Natsu sends a flirty image before hopping into the boiling stream.

Steam fills the tiny bathroom, creating a thin film over the grimy mirror. Long fingers run through damp locks, sloshing the running water through his hair. The hot spray pounds against tired muscles, easing away pain from a long day at work. Natsu squirts a sizable dollop of shampoo onto a palm, lathering it up and scrubbing at his scalp. The bubbles drift down defined muscles, slowly pooling below his feet on their journey to the drain.

Natsu breathes a long, relaxed sigh as the beating water crashes against him. He stands under the shower head for a few minutes, basking in the warmth. His mind floats away, drifting between memories of the past. Thin lips curl into a grin as he imagines his texting buddy, a woman who always brings a smile to his face.

Emerald eyes flutter open, staring at the smudged wall across from him. Reaching over, the man grabs a scented bar of soap and begins scrubbing himself clean. White, bubbly suds coast down his legs, joining the others on their voyage. Rough, red skin turns silky smooth as Natsu shuts off the spray, tossing the plastic curtain aside with a crisp shove.

Stepping out, he drapes a fluffy towel over his head, scrubbing a few times to remove excess water. A small ping draws Natsu's attention back to the black device, the bright screen flashing with several unread messages. Eyes alight with joy, he wraps the towel around his hips while reaching for the phone.

"Hey Babe," Natsu chuckles, stepping into the cold bedroom. Steam spills out behind him, a slight chill traveling up his spine as the cool air nips his flushed skin. "Natsu," his companion whines, sending tingles through his body.

Another chuckle escapes past open lips, "I told ya I was takin' a shower," he comments, leaning back onto the small bed. Fingers grip the blanket below, petting the soft material. Another low sound passes through the device's speakers, shooting warmth straight to southern regions.

"You're such a tease," the woman whimpers. Her smooth voice flows through the air, full of want and desire. Soft sighs accompany subtle shifting, clueing Natsu in on hidden movements.

Getting comfortable, the man leans further into cushy pillows, his back now pressed against the wall. Tan legs stretch out, barely concealed by the thin towel. Swallowing past a lump, Natsu's voice shakes slightly with his reply, "What are you doin'?"

Another soft moan sends sparks down his spine, heat pooling in his gut. A large, warm hand travels down his bare chest, rough fingers scraping against freshly cleaned skin. It lands near scarred hips, just inches away from its desired location. His throbbing length twitches beneath the towel, desperate for attention. A deep groan rolls past his parted lips, a pink tongue darting out to moist them. "Baby," he sighs, head rolling back.

A few heated moments pass as the pair share soft sounds. Natsu shoves the phone harder against his ear, drinking in her melody. Thunder booms in the background as fingers slyly drift under the cloth, skating closer and closer to bulging flesh. His mind runs wild, imagining how she must look. He figures she must be lying in bed, too, her shirt riding up to expose twin peaks. Her pale, pale skin flushed deep red, chest heaving with heavy pants.

Her blurry face meshes into an incohesive mess, as is typical of their intimate moments through the phone. Natsu's never vividly imagined the woman, despite how hard he tries. Her figure remains just out of reach as if obscured by frosted glass. "What are you wearin'?" he rasps, trying to peer through the opaque facade.

The woman gasps, shallow breaths floating through his ear. Ignoring his question, a sinful moan slips out in acknowledgment, but nothing more.

"And you call me the tease," he jests, voice wavering in a breathless whisper. "Damn, Babe," he grunts, finally giving in to intense desire. Brutal fingers wrap around warm flesh, slowly dragging and pulling the heated skin. Low hisses spill out in encouragement, egging his companion on.

Whines and whimpers accompany the pounding of rain, fighting to be the loudest. "I've been waiting for you all day," she replies, her voice raising in pitch. He envisions her legs splayed open to the dark room as thin fingers poke and prod, easing their way through. In his mind, he walks into their shared apartment to the glorious sight, enjoying the show for a few minutes before pouncing. He leaps on top of their bed, replacing her digits with his thick appendages. They curl and twist, rubbing at sensitive walls before sending her over a cliff of bliss.

Hips jump up to meet fast strokes as waves of lust wash through him, tingles zapping the base of his spine. Natsu tosses his head further into the wall, pink strands of hair splay out like a halo. Brows pinching together as he concentrates on murky hallucinations. His loose fist tightens, gently squeezing the base of his cock in a desperate chase for relief. A meaty palm glides along his veiny member, pleasure enhanced by delicious friction. Chapped lips dip open as sweat forms on wrinkled brows. Ramming the device closer, Natsu lives off wild moans, exchanging them for his own.

"Natsu, I need you," the woman begs, voice shaking with need.

Natsu's throat bobs, it takes every ounce of willpower not to give in to temptation. His pictures an eyeless face gazing up at him, plump lips parted as she speaks. He pauses his intense movements to stare in awe, before ripping off clinging trousers. With a sloppy kiss, they line needy groins, hips snapping to plunge further into pleasure, a pleasure the man wishes his hand could fulfill.

A plan slowly forms through the cloudy haze of thoughts, "We can FaceTime," he offers, praying she'll accept. Emerald eyes squeeze shut, wishing for success. He slows his brutal pace, now more focused on her response.

A tense second passes, in which Natsu berates himself for ruining the mood. Finally, his companion replies, voice thick with remorse, "You know I don't have an iPhone," she lamely excuses.

Dejected lips jut into a pout, disappointment washing over him in waves. Stubbornness drives him forward, determined to find another solution. "What about Discord? There are plenty of other video chatting apps," he bargains. He knows he's skating on thin ice, but the desire to see her outweighs any consequences.

A heavy sigh trudges through the speakers, this time not from lust. A longer pause ensues before she finally replies with another excuse, "I'm nervous," she admits, "I really, really like you. What if… after seeing me, you change your mind?" her voice whispers into his ear.

Natsu's face softens, a gentle smile gracing his lips. "Baby girl, nothin's gonna change how I feel about ya. I'll love you no matter how you look," his voice lowers, honesty seeping into his words, "Please?"

Contradicting feelings flash through her. Hope and yearning are quickly washed away by disgust, repulsed with herself for not being able to fulfill his request. Disgusted with herself for not believing him. Despite it all, a small, microscopic part of her wants to give in, wants to quickly turn on her camera before the logical side takes control.

Sensing the woman's hesitance, "Why don't we start with just showing our faces, hmm?" he tries, one simple word unintentionally crushing all hope of seeing her tonight.

"I'm sorry, I can't," she whispers, slowly pulling away from the conversation, seeking security elsewhere. Her voice wavers as the uncomfortable atmosphere overwhelms the woman.

Desperate not to lose her, Natsu grasps onto straws, begging her to stay. "I'm sorry for pushing you, I promise not to bring it back up. Why don't we change the subject?" He pleads, disappointment overshadowed by his want to spend time with her. To hear her sugar-coated voice.

By now their moment of passion fades into the background, all traces of lust vanishing without a trace. Natsu's hard-on softens, now laying limp against a powerful thigh. With a long, slow stretch the man stands, finally deciding to put on clothes.

Their conversation, though tense at first, quickly lifts into lighthearted topics. They talk about their day while exchanging jokes with an occasional banter, ignoring thunder as it claps through the dark night. Silent bolts of lightning illuminate the sky, shining for half a second before fading away. A smile tugs at Natsu's lips, one he can never seem to remove while talking to his girlfriend. Its shine rivals that of lightning, beautiful but deadly.

"How's your book coming along, still need to bounce ideas around?"

Natsu can practically hear her eyes glowing through the phone, "I finally finished that chapter, all thanks to you. I'm one step closer to publishing my first novel!"

"Glad I could help! You're gonna make an amazing author, I know you'll win all kinds of awards." He replies, pride swelling within his chest.

Leaning against the small counter in what can hardly be defined as a kitchen, Natsu plucks up a take-out menu, sparking a forgotten memory. Green eyes light up with enthusiasm, "Oh! I have exciting news, can't believe I almost forgot!" he exclaims.

Another beat of thunder pounds against the heavens quickly chased by clashing lightning. Their sounds rise to a crescendo, drowning out everything in their path. "I was offered another job, I'm moving to Magnolia!" Natsu's loud voice declares, joining the battle. His excitement is striking, just like the flashes beyond grimy windows.

"Oh," the woman replies, voice sounding far off. Anxiety courses through her veins, unsure of what to do next. Emotions once again conflict with each other, just like the relentless storm. Like thunder, she wishes to shout her excitement into the world, delighted they'll be closer. She wishes to congratulate him and bask in his success, elated his career is taking off. Until the lightning strikes, shooting down all possibility of happiness. Reality flashes through her mind, illuminating mistakes and shoving hopelessness into her face.

With a shaky breath, she responds, "T-that's great, Natsu!" Shock, guilt, and despair radiate throughout, trying to seep into her words. Clearing her dry throat, she trudges forward, words dragging through the mud, "When are you moving?"

His response pelts her like the plummeting rain, crashing into and splattering across unobtainable fantasies. "In a week! I can't believe it, Lisanna, we'll finally be together." Natsu's gentle voice does nothing to soothe her racing heart. Another bolt of lightning cuts through the sky, piercing into the woman.

Deafening crashes surge through the air as a soft click ends their conversation. Natsu, unaware of her inner turmoil, glances at his phone. Pink brows pinch together as confusion overtakes his face. Sending a quick text turns futile as the roaring storm blocks any pursuit of communication.

Lots of symbolism in Frosted Glass Fantasies so be on the lookout!

I wanted to complete the fanfic before uploading so I'd have a consistent schedule, (and a guarantee I'd finish it) but I'm losing motivation so I decided to upload it early. Chapters 2 and 3 will be up weekly, but after that, I cannot promise anything.

With that being said, I do feel like later chapters start to take a nose-dive, but I have been thinking of a Catfish AU since I was 15 (currently 21) and would love to do it justice. I will try my best to review and edit so I can make a worthwhile story :)
