"Hey Brittany how was your nap?"
"It was okay..."
"You sure? You look like you didn't get enough sleep"
Brittany sits at the table between her sisters.
"She had nightmare involving a clown"
Alvin said to Dave.
"Oh no don't tell me it was similar to the horrible experience you had... Years ago"
Brittany looks at Dave and nods.
"Yes but, thankfully Alvin woke me up before it got worse"
Jeanette and Eleanor look at each other with worried looks on their faces.
"I had a nightmare like Brittany last night but mines didn't involve a clown. Instead it was an obsessed fan"
"I had a nightmare last night about a guy in a skull mask chasing me"
Jeanette and Eleanor said worriedly.
Dave sighs after hearing the girls comments. He is really worried about their mental health.
They clam that they don't have the nightmares often however he still worries. He hopes that with time the girls will be able get peaceful sleeps.
"Why don't we change the subject? How was school today?"
Dave said with a smile.
"Boring"
"Fine"
"Great"
"Fun"
"Nice"
"Good"
They responded at the same time.
Dave chuckles as he passes around their plates.
"You know, before we got home we stopped at Billy's burgers and as we were eating, we noticed Brittany staring at a lady and a boy who were staring back"
Theodore informed Dave.
"Really? Did they say anything?"
"Nope they just kept staring"
"Oh"
Alvin looks at his counterpart.
"Say Brittany did you notice anything strange about them?"
"Actually yes..."
Everybody looks at Brittany.
She puts her fork down.
"I noticed a couple of things about them that made me wonder"
"Are you serious Britt?"
Jeanette questioned her.
"Mhmm very serious. I don't know if any of you noticed but as the lady was staring, she was squeezing her fork. I could see from where we were sitting that her hand was turning pale"
Brittany explained.
Her sisters and the boys look at each other.
"Also, the boy was wearing a shirt that looked a lot like the ones we wore when we were in elementary school. It looked like uniform"
Her sisters and the boys gasp.
"Then he probably goes to the one we went to"
"Maybe..."
Brittany thinks the same as Simon.
"Anyway what shocked me the most was... Their eyes?
"Their eyes?"
"Yes Alvin"
Brittany said while thinking back.
"They looked lifeless, sad, empty. They looked so miserable that I started to feel guilty"
"Why Brittany? You didn't do anything to them. You don't even know them"
Alvin said feeling confused.
Brittany sighs.
"I know... But still there was something about them that almost made me cry"
Jeanette, Eleanor, and the boys look at each other surprised.
Dave places a comforting hand on Brittany's shoulder.
"Brittany... The lady and the boy were probably having a bad day and their faces made you feel bad for them. If I had seen them I would've probably felt the same as well. What you were feeling was sympathy. Not guilt"
Brittany half smiles at him.
"Thanks Dave... Maybe you're right"
Dave nods before handing her her dessert.
"Anyway, let's dig in before going to bed"
It is a beautiful Saturday morning and everybody is getting ready to sell some of their belongings. They are gonna have a big yard sell so everybody is gathering stuff they don't use anymore.
The chipettes are in their room placing things such as handbags, electronics, and clothes into their boxes. The boys are doing the same in their room. Dave is outside setting up everything.
"Hmm perfect"
The man mumbled before putting a yard sale sign next to sidewalk.
Suddenly when Dave turns around he notices somebody standing next to one of the tables.
He smiles.
First customer
He walks up to the person to greet them.
"Good morning, how are you?"
The person turns around.
"Pfft fine"
"Ah well welcome. My name is Dave Seville and-"
"Uh-huh"
Dave was cut off which suprised him.
"Um... Okay we're still getting some more stuff to sell from the house so-"
"I'm not a customer"
The person cut him off again.
Dave raises an eyebrow.
The person in front of him is giving off red flags. Not only are they being rude but he can tell they've been drinking.
Dave can smell the alcohol from where he's standing.
He decides to be polite and not upset whoever the person is.
"Oh... then what do you need?"
"Good question"
Meanwhile back in the house. Brittany is the first to finish gathering everything she wants get rid off so she makes her way downstairs.
As she gets closer to the front door, she can hear someone shouting at the top of their lungs.
Brittany gasps and runs out the door to see Dave looking angry.
She puts her box down before approaching the scene.
"Dave, what's going on here?"
Brittany worriedly questioned him before stopping in her racks.
Her jaw drops at the sight of the person standing in front of Dave.
"It's you..."
Yep it's the lady that she and everybody else saw yesterday.
The lady notices her so she smirks.
"Well, well, well if it isn't Miss Pinky Brittany. I was asking about you"
She chuckles before looking at Dave.
"Enough, leave my property before I call the police"
"Go ahead. Do it. I don't give a shit"
The lady spits at Dave in the face.
Dave stands there shocked that she just assaulted him. His face gets red and his hands turn into fists.
Thinking quickly, Brittany gets between Dave and the lady to prevent a fight.
The lady chuckles and mocks Dave.
"Aww you're such a coochie. Having your daughter protect you"
"Brittany go back into the house. I got this"
Brittany ignores him as she focuses her eyes on the lady.
The lady let's out a chuckle.
"I would've never thought I'd meet my enemy. I bet you have many questions for me"
She is correct. Brittany is confused and has many questions in mind. Who is the lady? What does she want?
The lady grins at Dave.
"Hey you, why don't you piss off so we can have some privacy to talk hmm"
"That's it. I'm calling the police"
Brittany turns and grabs Dave's hands.
"Please don't. Dave, if this lady has an issue with me, then I'd like to resolve it"
Dave gives Brittany a surprised look.
"No Brittany don't listen to her. She's crazy. Not to mention drunk"
Dave tries to convince the confused edlest chipette.
"Please Dave, let me have chat with her. If she gets aggressive again then the police will be called"
Brittany pleaded with him.
Dave sighs in defeat.
He shoots a glare at the drunk lady.
"Okay... You can go into my office to talk privately. I'll be in the living room if you need anything"
"Thank you Dave. I won't take long"
Brittany thanked him before looking at the lady.
"Follow me"
The mysterious lady keeps walking back and forth, checking her surroundings while Brittany sits at the desk patiently waiting.
She watches as the lady is taking her time observing her surroundings. She figures that the lady is probably surprised by how luxurious the inside of the house is.
"Ahem... Please have a seat"
The lady stops walking to look at Brittany.
She mumbles something under her breath before sitting down.
"Would you like something to drink?"
"Yeah. Give me whiskey"
"Sorry ma'am. We don't have any alcoholic drinks here"
"Ah shit forget it then"
The lady responded before letting out a loud burp.
Brittany holds her breath to prevent herself breathing it in. She has never met someone so rude in her life.
She shakes her head.
"So... Who are you ma'am?"
The lady chuckles.
"Why did you come here?"
"To sleep here"
"How did you know where I live?"
"The Devil told me"
Brittany let's out an annoyed sigh.
"What did you wanna talk about?"
"Them fake eyelashes"
Brittany rolls her eyes in frustration.
The drunk lady is either too drunk too respond correctly or is just acting dumb.
She's starting to regret agreeing to have a chat with the lady.
Still she decides to ask one last question.
"Why do you hate me?"
Oh, my Lord. The smirk on the lady's face goes away. She is now glaring.
It's as if Brittany flipped a switch in her. Like her question triggered the lady.
"I wouldn't use the word hate. I more like loath the fact that you exist"
"Why? What have I done do you?"
Brittany questioned her feeling confused. She looks into the lady's eyes to see misery and hatred.
The lady places her purse on the desk.
"You are responsible for my sons depression. Because of you he can't smile like other kids his age. You took away a right he had"
Brittany tilts her head in confusion. She doesn't understand what the lady is talking about.
"Ma'am I think you've mistaken me for someone else. I've never even met your son"
"But you did meet his father"
"His father?"
"Yes. In fact you were his student... Or should I say lover?"
Brittany still confused.
The lady realizes this so she continues speaking.
"Does the name Tyler Murphy ring a bell?"
Brittany stares at her as she thinks back.
The name sounds familiar to her.
Tyler Murphy
She thought.
It takes her about to minute to realize who she's talking about.
Brittany's eyes get wide.
Could it be him?
"Ah do you remember him?"
"Uuh..."
Brittany slowly nods her head.
"Tyler Murphy whose real name was Edward Herman was my husband. I was his wife. Patty Herman is my name"
The lady starts to raise her voice.
"Because of you my husband was killed. Because of you my son doesn't have a father. He is growing up fatherless"
The lady grinds her teeth.
"He would've been happy right now if his father was still alive. If it wasn't for you my son wouldn't be asking me about him every night. My son would've had a father figure but you just couldn't keep your mouth shut"
The lady said angrily.
Brittany is speechless. She is feeling like the most evil person on earth. She is feeling is horrible.
"My husband was getting touchy with you, therefore you dared to tell on him"
"No I..."
Suddenly the lady gets in her face.
"But I know deep down you loved having him so close"
"Ma'am I-"
SLAP
Like a rattlesnake, the lady striked. Brittany can feel her cheek stinging.
The lady glares at her with a look jealousy on her face.
"I'll never forget those nights. Being awakened by him saying your name over and over as he slept"
The lady opens her purse and pulls out a briefcase.
She places it on the desk before opening it.
Brittany sits there in complete shock.
"Look, he liked you so much he kept this to remind him of you"
In the briefcase there is a pink fabric. A piece of clothing that Brittany recognizes.
As she stares at it, events from the past replay in her head.
Events that took a lot of years of therapy to erase from her mind are back.
"Oh my what's this?"
The lady shakes the briefcase.
"Well I'll be damned. There's another one"
"Wha..."
Brittany whispered as she stares at it.
Under the pink fabric, there is a green one as well.
Ellie
She thought.
"Well, I guess you weren't his only lover"
The lady said in anger.
Brittany is lost for words.
Words cannot describe how she's feeling. All of the information she's getting from the lady is so shocking.
"I knew of his desire for young girls and I knew what he was doing to get satisfaction but I still stayed with him because he accepted that I had a criminal record as well and because I loved him"
The lady stands up.
"My husband was killed after he had been reported. So I figured you had something to do with his death"
"..."
Brittany dares not to speak fearing of getting slapped again.
"The next day I found out I was pregnant with his son Owen"
Brittany gasps.
"The boy you saw next to me yesterday, is Owen his son"
The lady picks up her purse.
"I spent years searching for you and the last place I expected to encounter you was at a fast food restaurant"
The lady chuckles.
"I searched and searched just to tell you the consequences of your stupid decision. I also wanted my son to see you so he know who was the one that prevented him from meeting his father"
Tears are going down Brittany's face.
The lady stares at her feeling no sympathy.
"Wipe off those crocodile tears. I know you're satisfied"
"No you're wrong I am-"
"Anyway I gotta go now. You can keep the briefcase"
The lady cut her off before heading to the door.
She had finally let out what was in her chest for years. Perhaps now she can sleep better at night.
"I'd like to see him..."
Before opening the door, the lady pauses in her tracks.
"Excuse me?"
"I'd like to see Owen"
The lady grins.
"Aha guilt eating you from the inside? Good"
She chuckles before looking at Brittany.
"Listen, if you're thinking of apologizing to my son then forget it. He despises you so much"
"Please... I wanna see him"
The lady stares at Brittany.
She sighs deeply before taking out a pen and piece of paper from her purse. She writes something down.
"Tomorrow around 3 in the afternoon. At 4 he has karate lessons"
Brittanh nods.
"Thank you... Miss Herman"
"Don't thank me. The only reason I'm giving you a chance to speak to him is so he can hate you even more when he sees you"
The lady lets out a chuckle before heading out the door.
Brittany sits there thinking to herself as she stares at the piece of paper in her hand. Will she really go to the Herman residence? What would her family think?
Brittany sighs worriedly as she stares at the open briefcase.
Curiosity, gets the best of her so she decides to check if there's anything else inside.
She digs through to find a sheet of paper.
Her jaw drops.
She stares at it in shock.
"Divorce papers? Was he gonna divorce his wife?"
Brittany mumbled as she wonders if Miss Patty knew her husband wanted to separate from her.
Brittany doesn't remember her saying anything about a divorce therefore she's almost sure the lady doesn't know her husband was gonna leave her.
She begins to feel bad not only for the son but for his mother as well.
Brittany sighs prior to finding something else.
Her eyes widen.
Wanted dead or alive.
20 million dollars will be rewarded to anyone that can give information that could lead to his whereabouts
Brittany covers her mouth in shock.
"Oh my goodness..."
She wonders how long he had been running and hiding from the law before being murdered.
Brittany shrugs before putting all of the things including the pieces of clothing back inside briefcase.
She closes it.
What should I do with this?
She thought.
She takes a few seconds before coming up with an idea.
She knows exactly where she can put the briefcase
