Beth walked angrily along the sidewalk as Santana simply rolled her eyes. It was times like these that she couldn't help but feel like a part of Rachel Berry did rub off on the girl. She had a lot of Rachel's personality, and Santana was grateful that some of the good qualities of Rachel seemed to have stuck, though she never would tell Rachel this.

Beth stopped and turned to face Santana. "I don't get it. Why do we have to see mom? I'm fine!" she gestured at herself.

Santana raised an eyebrow at this, taking in the torn skinny jeans and ripped shirt as Beth stared with her hazel eyes glaring to her.

"Because…" She answered, "your moms are paranoid doctors who love you with everything in them." Santana began walking past Beth, who huffed in return and caught up slowly.

"This is so annoying." She pouted as they walked into the hospitals ER.

Santana smiled at the security officers as they entered, going to empty her pockets and set her bag down to be x-rayed before she caught sight of Quinn.

Quinn was clad in her scrubs and bright white Nikes, Her hair was up in a loose bun as she raced towards them. "It's okay, Jeff." She motioned for Santana to pick her things back up. "This is my daughter." Quinn explained to the man who nodded at her. "And her aunt." She smiled hastily at Santana before facing her daughter, grabbing her face in her hands. "How are you feeling?"

Beth brushed her mom off. "Can you please stop?" She said in embarrassment.

Quinn sighed and motioned Santana to follow, using her badge to enter through the main doors into the hospital, guiding Beth with her hand. A few nurses approached once they got to a room, one beginning to put a C-collar on Beth.

"What's this for?" Beth asked, slightly scared.

Quinn looked to her daughter, taking a break from barking orders at a few other doctors on what to get done for her daughter. "It's in case you have an injury to your spine, sweetie." Quinn stepped to her daughter and shined a light in her eyes.

Beth flinched. "Mom!" She said, grabbing at the light.

Quinn swatted her hands away. "At least your coordination is good. I need to check your pupil reactiveness. Hold still." She chastised.

Beth then rolled her eyes which Quinn laughed at before gripping her daughters and slightly. "All good, smartass." She said.

Beth chuckled, "I wonder who I get it from." She said.

"Your other mother, obviously." Quinn said jokingly.

Santana smiled at this, it was good that they could both joke now about things. "So how is she looking?" Santana asked.

Quinn breathed heavily, letting her hair down as she did. "She looks okay, I just need to be sure."

"Hey!" Beth yelled. "Just okay?" She teased at her mom.

"Well," Quinn began, "you do mostly look like me so…yeah." This caused Quinn to get more eye rolls and laughs. "Thank you, S." Quinn said, turning her attention to her friend. "I really owe you."

"Yeah, yeah. Only like for the millionth time." Santana replied, jabbing at the taller blonde.

Quinn smiled before she motioned for Santana to follow her to the hallway. "So, Rachel?" She asked.

Santana frowned. "Look Q, I can take care of it all. You don't even have to see her or talk to her-"

"I want to." Quinn answered immediately. She looked into Santana's eyes and Santana knew that there was little hope. "I need to, San." Was all she could get out.

"It's been years, Q. And after everything she's done to you? Do you really want to talk to someone like that?" Santana was only trying to protect her friend.

"I know." Quinn glanced at her phone, typing a fast response, no doubt to another doctor, before looking back to her friend. "I just…I want to see if everything worked out for her." Quinn sighed, Santana reached out and placed her hand gently on her friend's shoulder. Quinn laughed coldly, wiping at the tears in her eyes. "She gave us up for it. I just want to know if it was worth it. I need to ask her. Call me selfish…"

"You want her to tell you it wasn't? That it was a huge mistake? I get it, Q" Santana sighed. "Just…don't count on in. You've seen the articles about her. It seems like she's turned into the kind of person she hated." Santana said quietly.

"Yeah." Quinn stared down at the floor. "It's too bad." She looked into her best friends eyes then, Sanatana could see the breaking of the old Quinn emerging once again.

Santana grabbed her hand. "Look, lets just get through today and then we can talk at dinner, okay?"

Quinn laughed. "Always saving me." She responded.

Santana snorted, standing cocky now, "It's what I do." She strutted, before Quinn shoved her. "Hey, you're a doctor. Try to be professional." Quinn rolled her eyes at Santana. "Or at least act like it!"

"Hey!" Quinn shoved at her, laughing.

Quinn looked over the x-rays that came back from her daughter. Everything looked normal, her blood work had looked normal and the cuts and scrapes were simply that. She sighed for a long moment, happy that everything was looking okay. She felt her phone buzzing, Jamie was calling her.

"Hey." She said softly. "Everything looks good. No breaks and nothing out of the normal."

Jamie sighed into the phone. "Thank God." There was silence. "So, are you going to tell me who did this?"

Quinn sighed. "I take it Santana told you."

"She texted me." She heard Jamie sigh. "It isn't a big deal, she likes to keep me up to speed."

Quinn could feel the sadness in her rise. "I'm sorry."

"Why? You can't help that it's her." Jamie continued, "Quinn…just promise me you'll be happy. No matter the outcome."

Quinn sighed. "Feeling guilty because you've found some happiness?" Quinn asked with a joking tone.

"Quinn, you know that I will always love you. We raised our daughter together." There was a long minute of silence. "Things changed and that wasn't either of our faults. I'm just glad that we can be friends." Jamie said quietly.

Quinn smiled, she loved Jamie and always would. They just were no longer in love. And now, years after their divorce, Jamie had found happiness during the pandemic. She was bringing that happiness back with her too.

"Me too." Quinn heard her phone chime and she looked at an unknown number. "I'll call you later?"

"Yeah." And then the call disconnected.

Quinn looked at her phone and saw a new message from a number she didn't recognize.

Unknown: Can we meet? I believe it would be best to speak about the events in person. I apologize for coming into your life suddenly, and without warning. This was never my intention. And I did not intend on meeting Beth again this way.

Quinn sighed at this. Of course, she would be one to talk like that over text.

QB: Sure. Where?

Unknown: Tomorrow? Haylees Diner?

Quinn knew the place. She knew it from when they were still together and in undergrad.

QB: Sure.

Quinn set her phone down before running her hands through her hair once again. She wasn't liking this week already.
