Jennifer Walters: Mother of a Spider Part 2
At a diner called Stan's, Peter and Jen sit in a booth with the heroine nearly taking up an entire end with several plates of burgers, fries, stakes, and a large bowl of salad in front of her. Peter is across from her with his forehead on the table.
"Come on, Peter," Jen lets out a small whine. "It wasn't that bad," she picks up a burger and starts munching on it.
"You're right. It's worse!" he raises his head up. "Did you really have to threaten my boss?"
"It wasn't a threat," she finishes the burger and picks up the salad. "It was a warning. Look on the bright side. I doubt Jameson will stiff you on your next paycheck."
The teen had to agree. "I suppose you're right. It's just not easy living with everyone talking about how my mom's She-Hulk now." He leans back with a heavy sigh.
Jen stops halfway through the salad to stare at the kid.
"I remember when hardly anyone at school wanted anything to do with me. Now? Everyone wants to be on my good side. Even Flash wants me to tutor him every day. It's not that he doesn't need it, 'cause he does. But he's always asking to do it at our house."
"Peter…" the green woman pushes her food away as her confidence washes away. "I know that this transition hasn't been easy. I can't replace May," Jen sighs as she rests her face in her hands. "What was thinking? There's no way She-Hulk can play mom."
"No one can replace Aunt May," Peter reaches over to the Avenger, causing her to look up at him. "But as for you being a mom," the teen shrugs. "You've been doing a pretty decent job if you ask me. I just wish you'd turn down the whole She-Hulk thing a little. At least when you show up at my school and especially at the Daily Bugle."
She-Hulk smiles. "It'll be a lot of work to keep all of this contained," she gestures to herself. "But I'll be willing to try."
The teen shakes his head. "That's all I ask."
"Look!" Someone shouts. "The tv!"
Everyone's attention turns to the tv setup in the corner of the store where there's a news report going on.
"Six supervillains are terrorizing Queens."
A man made of sand rises out of the ground, a Rhino man bulldozes through a truck, an electric man zips in and out of nowhere, a man with mechanical birdlike wings flies around, a man with four extra robot arms crawls up the side of the building, and a green man on a flying machine comes up to the camera.
"Where is Spider-Man!?" the green man shouts before throwing a pumpkin bomb at the camera.
Jen shakes her head. "Seems like the Six are at it again. Like they don't have enough years piled up. I really hope my boss doesn't make me repre…" she turns back around to talk to Peter only to find him missing. Only his clothes are left folded on the table where he was sitting with his shoes laying on top of them.
The Attorney rolls her eyes as she grabs the clothing and puts it in her suitcase along with her own heels. She then takes out her pair of purple and white sneakers.
The owner of the place walks up to the table. "Where'd Peter go?"
"You know him, Stan," She-Hulk takes out her wallet to set some cash on the table. "If there's a possibility of Spider-Man being somewhere that's where he'll go," the Jade Giantess then starts removing her dress suit to reveal her purple and white body suit. "Wonder if Spider-Man could use some help?" she then hands her case over to Stan. "Hold my stuff for me."
The man happily accepts, "Good luck, Jen. I'd hate to lose one of my favorite regulars. Excelsior!"
The green woman smirks. "She-Hulk doesn't need luck."
