The next morning, Loki was attempting to use his powers. Bucky was encouraging and coaching Loki, not that it helped unlock his once again dormant abilities. Eva was practicing her knife work nearby.

"Lokes," Bucky said, "you can do this. Your power is there. I know it's hard, but you used it on Walker."

Loki looked at the unmarked dummy in front of him, sighing as he said, "I know, Buck, but I still feel cut off from it. I don't know what the trigger is."

Eva got an idea and threw her knife. It should have gone past Bucky's ear and hit Loki's shoulder, and it would have if her one-armed brother hadn't caught it. He turned, glaring at her.

"Eva," he admonished, "don't."

"We need to recreate the stress of that moment, Bubba," Eva explained.

Loki was confused and asked, "What are you saying, sister?"

"We make you feel the same level of stress Walker put you through. Simple."

"You will not recreate what he tried to do to me, Evelyn!"

She turned away, looking at the space with glowing eyes. "That's not exactly what I had in mind."

Bucky's heart began to pound and he said, "Sis, think about this."

Loki went pale and replied, "Eva, don't do what I think you're going to do."

Before her brothers could stop her, the room changed. It was the same cell she and Loki used to be housed in by her. The bars were between Loki and his siblings. Eva took Bucky's hand as she looked at the god.

"Destroy the illusion, brother," she said.

Loki stared at her in shock and panic, his voice barely a whisper, "Eva?"

But she didn't answer. She and Bucky disappeared, vanishing like smoke. Both of them could see the little pocket illusion in the center of the mat. Bucky kept his face expressionless.

"I don't like this, sis," he said. "Are you sure this is necessary?"

Eva gave a quick nod, answering, "JARVIS is monitoring him so we can find the trigger. But yes. I have faith in our brother.

They stood, waiting and watching as Loki went to a corner, shaking. He sat down and pulled his knees up. It pained Eva and Bucky to see him like that, but Eva refused to move.
